I guess you could call this a re-launch of my audio podcast; except for one thing. I felt a need to change the name of the podcast to Inspiration Point. What's the difference? Well, you will have to listen to the podcast for that detail. I'll also be diving into who I am. I'll be sharing some key aspects of what I'm about. That's not all! Here are some details that I did not go into, on today's podcast. In my last blog post, "How Do I Listen for God's Voice? Relationship", I was referencing Peter Greig's new book called "How to Hear God: A Simple Guide for NORMAL People. In the first part of this book, Peter shares how our relationship with Jesus can shape how we hear God's Voice. It's not the only thing covered in that book. These days, it is easy to get angry at something or someone. It's not all that hard. You simply need to hop on your favorite social media platform and you'll get plenty of fuel for your anger. If you're thinking that it's the fault of the Internet then I'd have to disagree. It's a perennial issue and certain social media platforms seem to excel at exacerbating it. You are not the only one. It is not an easy thing when you lose a loved one. It's especially hard when your mother has been suffering from dementia, for close to 8 years. The Bible clearly teaches us, to pray about everything ala Philippians 4:6. Yet, it can be a daunting task; especially if you're not used to it or feel intimidated by the idea of prayer. I personally do know the challenge of giving praise to God, Almighty when facing sad news. It's not easy! How can I praise Jesus when I am hurting? My mother is in a nursing home with dementia? How about "Our children are in the hospital and could die of a nasty viral infection?" If I took the time, this list can easily grow. The idea of praising God when one is suffering seem to be a natural contradiction. Does praising God in the middle of a storm really work? Yes, it does work, and I'd like to share my perspectives on this challenging endeavor. It is certainly possible; especially if you ask God for help. Get ready for an earful! The other day, I saw a post from Pastor Greg Locke and I did not give it, much thought. Then I read the comment section. What is with the shaming? The actual blog post will be calmer; however, I felt a need to verbally express how I felt about what I'm seeing. How are we showing the love of God by shaming others? Have you ever rode on a tandem bicycle, before? As a child, I did ride on one and it's quite fun. The more sighted person would sit on the front seat and I'd sit on the back seat. Do you suppose that I contributed nothing to the biking experience? Think, again! Though it has been 40+ years ago, I can still recall the person in front saying "Hey- Barry! You need to contribute! It would be a lot more fun if you help!" He is quite right. Such bikes are a lot easier when both individuals are cooperatively working together. Did you know the same principle applies to one's walk with Jesus? What would it look like, if you were on a tandem bike with Jesus? Who's really in the front seat?
