Salt and Light Covenant Church in Tallahassee, FL with Pastor Omar Ellison

Are you constantly battling worries, insecurities, or that unsettling feeling of "what if"? In this compelling message, Pastor Omar Ellison tackles the pervasive topic of fear, dissecting its origins and offering a powerful antidote. He defines fear as an "uneasiness of mind," a mental state where we allow doubt, unbelief, worry, and stress to create a "movie" of future negativity that may never even happen. This is the essence of F.E.A.R.: False Evidence Appearing Real. Pastor Ellison reveals that Satan's primary strategy is to shift us from faith to fear by attacking our imagination, which he calls the "incubator" of our thinking and future. He explains how the enemy projects negative images and "what-ifs," aiming to derail God's good plans for us. However, our future is already God's "past" – He has already created us with purpose, destiny, and every blessing we need, much like a house is built on blueprints before it's physically manifested. The key to overcoming this spiritual assault, Pastor Ellison powerfully declares, is knowledge. Just as a strong dose of kryptonite renders Superman powerless, knowledge of God's word and His character is the ultimate weapon against fear. He illustrates how knowledge builds confidence, whether it's preparing for a job interview or facing life's challenges. Drawing from Psalm 27 and Isaiah 35 and 43, he reveals that God is our light, our salvation, our strength, our vindicator, and our compensator. He is with us through every "water" and "fire," ensuring we will not be overwhelmed or burned. This sermon is a powerful call to replace fear with foundational truth, trust in God's unwavering presence, and walk confidently into the victorious future He has already designed. ******* Find more information on our website: https://www.saltandlightcovenant.com/

Professor P’s Podcast - Entrepreneurship - Empowerment - Energetics

Welcome everyone to the 47th episode of Professor P's Podcast. This week, I am bringing you another entrepreneurial tip. The topic for this show is THE 4-TALENTS #entrepreneurialtip “Float like a butterfly. Sting like a bee.” —Muhammad Ali, World Champion Boxer Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest boxers of all time. His success is directly related to his ability to think systematically, which created thought patterns and processes that attracted greatness to him. He was a very skilled and talented boxer and would out-practice anyone. As an Empowered Entrepreneur, you need to be skilled like Ali. You need to have his same work ethic. You need to understand the power of your unique frequency, which is your thought process. You need to settle for nothing less than greatness. You will need to understand your unique talents. There are four talents that are critical to being an Empowered Entrepreneur: Imagination Experimentation Insight Wisdom When was the last time you played? I mean freely played, when your imagination just ran wild. Do you remember being a child and playing without a care in the world? There are so many benefits to playing—most importantly, the ability to heighten our imagination. When we can imagine with no self-censorship getting in the way, no pressure from the matrix telling us we are getting it wrong, we become so liberated. So much learning can be found no matter what form of play you encounter. Imagination is sparked. As an Empowered Entrepreneur, it is important you develop the talent of imagination. It opens the mind, and when the mind is open, there is no limit to what it can and will produce. Imagination also activates creativity. I am always surprised at the number of people who believe they are not creative. Now, I understand that some people are not that crafty. I get that part, but when mothers especially tell me they are not that creative, I think to myself, How is that? You created a human, for God's sake! Imagination and creativity open a whole new level of thinking for you. It is that key that finds solutions to problems. But do you know what blocks creativity? FEAR. Yes, fear. False Evidence Appearing Real. Fear is an emotional roadblock. Before we even get started being creative, fear pops in with self-doubt and insecurity. Then we self-censor. The mind is so powerful, but when limited, it is very weak. You must turn the self-censor off and stop dancing with your complex issue. Pick up the brush of creativity and paint your future. The Empowered Entrepreneur doesn't predict his or her future; they imagine it. They create it. The talent of experimentation is why scientists are so damn cool. They experiment all the time. Without experimentation, we would not have many of the inventions we have today, nor would we have the future. Thomas Edison is one of my favorite inventors of all time. Do you know how many times he failed while creating the light bulb? So many times! But it was through experiment that he finally arrived at the light bulb, and that sucker is everywhere today. You will be required in Entrepreneurship Empowered to get out of the building and or office and go experiment. Go try your product on the consumer. Go test your theory in the marketplace. Then you will know which next steps to take with your services or products. Everything in Entrepreneurship Empowered is about action and trying. When you experiment, you become open to learning about how new processes would work for your organization and ways to effectively cut costs in order to help manage cash flow. Again, there is no limit to what experimenting can do for you as you launch, manage, and grow your business. One of the best places for you to do some experimenting is at a makerspace. A makerspace is a collaborative workspace. Co-working spaces can also be rented for start-up businesses. You will find all kinds of elements at a makerspace—from 3D printers to sewing machines. Everything from coding to the creation of art takes place in a makerspace. It is a hub for genius and creativity. You can use most of the equipment found there. You will need to learn how to use the equipment first, of course, but after that, you are good to go. If you are in my class at one of the colleges or in my virtual course, you will be introduced to our makerspace. There are makerspaces everywhere—all you have do is search online for them, and I am sure you will find one in your area. I encourage you to go explore and experiment. A study at the University of Michigan revealed that empathy levels in our world have dropped dramatically—“College kids today are about 40 percent lower in empathy than their counterparts of 20 or 30 years ago.”3 I am so shocked at how much we just don't care for humankind. The skill of insight is critical to life and business. The definition of insight, according to the dictionary, is “the capacity to gain an accurate and deep intuitive understanding of a person or thing.” In essence, insight is being empathic. Being able to relate and understand your clients' needs or your customers' needs is the golden key to maintaining their loyalty and business. Being able to put yourself in someone else's shoes will open your mind, enabling you to create better solutions for them. You may create products or services that fit their needs which were unmet prior to your solutions. This is only one of the reasons why insight is so important to have, not only as an Empowered Entrepreneur, but as a human being. Some people who are what we call “empaths” believe they are cursed. But I am here to set the record straight: you are far from cursed. You are gifted, and we need your gift more today than ever before. Wisdom is timeless. Many people are wise with age, and some never carry wisdom at all because they do not take time to reflect. As an Empowered Entrepreneur, I demand action. I am results-driven. But I never negate the power of reflection, and in Entrepreneurship Empowered, you must have both action and reflection in equal measure. It is in the reflection that we gain wisdom. How often do you reflect? From how your day was, to giving a presentation at work. When reflecting, it is important to have a pen and notepad available, or your computer if you like. Write it all out, from the good to the bad to the ugly. Even reflecting on the weather or season is critical. Take note of the time of day and your energy level—all very important pieces to your puzzle. To be successful in any area, you must exercise wisdom and plan carefully. If wisdom is to bring you prosperity, joy, admiration, and longevity of life, then you must be disciplined to reflect daily. Your homework is to reflect on all that was covered in this episode. I want to hear from you too. Reach out to me and let me know how you are doing, what you discover, and where you need some additional encouragement or resources to help you. What's my definition of fear?  False Evidence Appearing Real.  -Anna Sabatino aka “Anna Sab” Meet Anna Sabatino, wife, mother, life coach, driving instructor, entrepreneur, and all-around super-woman. It was Anna's husband who nominated her as a guest on the show and she did not disappoint!  In this interview, we learn all about the long and winding road of life. For Anna, the twists and turns are there to help us find our purpose. The daughter of Italian immigrants, Anna grew up in a strict but faith-filled, loving home in Brighton, Massachusetts.  At only 20, she began working on the administrative side of a hugely successful sporting goods agency that represented New Balance Athletic shoes.  Thirty years later, her boss retired and closed the business, leaving Anna at a crossroads, so she put on her running shoes and started training for the New York and Boston marathons.  She also signed up for an Empowerment Workshop that ignited a new passion:  helping teenagers find their way.  Armed with her certification as an Empowerment Life Coach, she launched a coaching practice aimed at teens…and sadly, no one came.   Frustrated and feeling a little bit lost, she went for a run…and ran into an old friend who said:  “Get certified as a driving instructor.  Most of your clients will be teenagers anyway.”   Today, Anna is the owner of her own driving school, www.csdriving.com, and the CS stands for common sense. Whether she's in the car or the classroom with her students, whom she proudly calls her “lovelies,”Anna is a guiding light when they need it the most.  Says Anna:  “ Most teens are terrified to drive.  I shift the way they think from negative to positive and give them confidence.  I tell them fear is really false evidence appearing real.”  What's next for Anna?  A new book called Just Drive: Life Lessons from Behind the Wheel.  For 22 minutes, bound to keep your foot on the gas, and your eye on the horizon, just hit that download button.  #teens #lifecoach #drivinglessons #drive

It's one thing to feel your feelings and quite another to have them rule you. When I was drinking and using, I was ruled by my emotions. I had no filter, no guidance.I bounced between fear and desire. I was afraid of many things: fear of looking bad of being rejected, of not being cool, of losing my job (I was fired three times before I woke up), afraid of permanent insanity, of being broke (I was broke a lot). Name a fear, and I had it.Fear manifests itself in several different ways: anxieties from mild to severe, but always anxious, nightmares, obsessions, depression, anger (provoke by fear). Fear of losing something that I valued or fear of not getting what I want.FEAR is an acronym for F... Everything And Run, or: False Evidence Appearing Real. Then there's the flip side: being ruled by desire, by a craving and wanting and longing for escape from reality, for getting and staying high or drunk or both, for sex, for recognition (the ego stroke), for looking cool, for having the nicest car, or clothes, or the best-looking girlfriend. All superficial stuff. It wasn't until I started living by a set of principles as taught by AA that I finally came to a serene place, no longer ruled by fear or desire. No longer ruled purely by emotion. I let the principles of honesty and kindness, and courage rule my life.FEAR now stood for its antidote: Face Everything And Recover.

As I explore this acronym, I aim to help listeners recognize that much of the fear we experience is rooted in our perceptions rather than actual threats. Together, we analyze how our minds can create a cycle of fear, where adrenaline leads to physical responses, which in turn validate our perceived dangers, keeping us trapped in a continuous loop. I emphasize the importance of acknowledging the relationship between our minds and bodies, as they constantly influence each other. Understanding that our thoughts are not necessarily truths is crucial. Many of us allow fleeting thoughts to hold significant power over our emotions and actions, leading to unnecessary anxiety. By recognizing that fear is often an illusion, we can begin to dismantle the hold it has over us. It's essential to understand that the real danger often lies not in the fear itself but in our fear of experiencing fear. Drawing inspiration from Franklin D. Roosevelt's famous quote, "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself," I encourage listeners to reflect on how this idea manifests in their own lives. By confronting the notion that we might be afraid of our own feelings of fear, we can free ourselves from that cycle. This realization can serve as a significant turning point for many; once we recognize the self-imposed barriers created by our fear of fear, we can start to dismantle those walls. I provide guidance on the approach we should take toward fear. Rather than fleeing, fighting, or freezing when faced with fearful thoughts or sensations, I advocate for embracing the fear. I suggest welcoming it and allowing it to exist without giving it undue attention or power. This practice is not about eliminating fear but rather about creating a friendly relationship with it, where we acknowledge fear as a part of our lives without letting it dictate our actions. It can be scary and humbling to let someone love you and give you grace.  The enemy (i.e., Satan) will try to exploit this by encouraging you to think that you are in a one-down position.  Sometimes it is easier to accept good things from a stranger because we do not worry there will be an ongoing obligation in the relationship.  But grace, kindness, forgiveness, and help are meant to be gifts of honor.  Do not insult the person trying to honor you by rejecting that honor.  So how do we honor the gifts of love others give us?  Well, if we are gifted forgiveness, grace, and covering, change is the best response.  Grace helps us have energy to get up again and do it right, to fix what we have broken, to undo what we have done.  Allow people to love you when you mess up.  Love covers a multitude of sins (I Peter 4:8).  Covering often sounds negative to us because we confuse it with toxic secrecy or enabling.  The kind of covering that God does for us, however, is not like this; it is a gift of grace meant to protect us while we are working on repentance and change.  Think of covering wounds while they heal; we do not just bleed all over the house and allow the wounds to be open and exposed to further harm.  We cover wounds appropriately to help them heal.  Covering or hiding as a gift of grace means that those who love us choose not to expose our ugliness while we work on repentance and change, knowing that change takes time.  God gives more because He has endurance people do not.  Covering is not permission to keep deepening the wound; covering is beautiful. If we are given courtesy or help, we can offer a sincere thank-you.  Do not insult the person offering good because you are uncomfortable.  Give courtesy and graciousness in exchange.  Accept the gesture and be grateful for the thought.  Good boundaries will help with this; do not try to read the person's mind or assume their expectations without knowing them.  If there is a motive, you are not obligated to recognize it unless they tell you.  Unless you have real reason to believe they want something in return (e.g., the person has a history of trying to put you in his/her debt, or there are clear signs of a scam in play), then you cannot read minds to figure it out.  You can, however, be nice.  You can be polite, gracious, forgiving.  “Our Father is kind; you be kind [Luke 6:36, The Message version].”  Cinthia continues, “Kindness supports peace, and peace loves to linger.  See, peace is a quality that expands.  Kindness is a quality that is catching.  God is a God of peace.  He's always going to war with the people that are harming us.  And there needs to be that protection, and He's able to restore and protect and to save those that are oppressed, harmed, wounded, injured.”  So be gracious in your responses to others, and do not allow suspicion to steal the joy of the gift.  If you find later that someone had ulterior motives (e.g., wanted something in return), you can say “no” then.  You can say, “I wish you would have told me you were needing/wanting something in return.  What can I do?”  And if you cannot do what they want, you can tell the person that you will not be able to accept help from him/her in the future. Cinthia discussed I Corinthians 13 and encouraged little ways to give kindness and spread mercy and truth.  She also encouraged self-forgiveness, explaining, “The only reason for having baggage is not having attended to it; move on,” and, “You're going to be able to love deeply if you also forgive yourself.” Finally, Cinthia discussed Attachment Theory, which therapists use to discuss how humans attach, and how the motives behind a tendency to reject love often have to do with fear.  She discussed the messages people with avoidant or ambivalent attachment styles can send others, such as, “Come here; go away,” and, “I could take or leave you.”  She discussed both fear of rejection and fear of acceptance, explaining that God has made humans to need connection and that our defensive structures try to protect us from the pain of not being connected, as well as the pain of being connected, which is also threatening.  Our defensive structures protect us too well; our radars give us false readings.  We try to protect ourselves from harm, but we protect ourselves from what we need.  There are scary implications for acceptance – fear of relationship, commitment, being loved or wanted, fear of the future, coming to depend on someone and then getting rejected, etc. – But the attempt to avoid this pain and loneliness tend to encourage a constant level of pain and loneliness.  Are you ambivalent about relationships?  Some part of you really wants connection, but it really frightens another part of you.  Cinthia recalled the “False Evidence Appearing Real” definition of fear and encouraged identifying the core beliefs behind our fears of accepting good from other people.  For example, one might say to himself, “I'm not a good risk.  I'm not going to do this -- all I'll get is let down.  I'm just going to keep working on myself by myself until I feel confident enough to put myself out there.” Cinthia recalled struggling with her own core beliefs about herself and realizing that part of acceptance was accepting herself.  She explained that God finally said to her, “Cinthia, I didn't consult you when I created you.  I made you for me.  I'm happy with you.  I like the way I made you.  I'm excited to spend eternity with you, Cinthia.  So you can either get on the same page as me, or you can be miserable until you come home.”  This led her to work on accepting the things she could not control, picking battles differently, getting stuck on fewer things, letting things go, etc. We need to know the God Who loves us and to begin to accept ourselves.  The more I accept myself, the safer I am to other people.  The fears of acceptance and rejection never go away until heaven, so we need to let people love us.

Throughout my 11 year nursing career, I focused on oncology and hospice and education; but, lost faith in the medical system knowing that pharmaceutical medicine was only a quarter of the puzzle. I dove into personal development through the work of transformation in 2019, nervous system regulation teaching, death doula work, and alternative cancer treatment all as my gifts and life's work. Today I continue serving as a certified Mastery of Transformation coach, death doula, and coaching sales expert. But retreating to the heart helps us remember who we are. In this space, a place where truth never changes, we can diffuse fear's debilitating triggers to move any stuck energy. And movement is the enemy of fear. Our heart's courage doesn't always speak loudly. But it insists we're here with a defined purpose, a supreme directive, and that we're ok!This episode explores the paralyzing effects of fear, what causes it, and how uncovering a way to dismiss it, can lead to finding courage. So many pws stuttered during interivews, they felt sure an offer would not come because of the stuttering and POOF the offer came! A pws can worry in the past tense and in the future tense. This is why stuttering has been compared to PTSD. BUT we must realize that we typically blow our stuttering out of proportion and that we have a community of people who don't judge our stuttering the way that we assume. https://www.stuttering-specialist.com/post/stuttering-as-a-variant-of-post-traumatic-stress-disorder

Easy Strategies to Move Out of Your Comfort Zone

How do you know when you're in your comfort zone? Do you ever pay attention or think about if you're working and living to your full potential? Or are you just coasting along, following the status quo and enjoying life? Every human alive has a comfort zone. It's that space where things come easily, life is predictable, and the idea of making changes makes your palms sweat. Surprisingly, many people move through life just accepting every day as it comes, without the desire to grow or explore how they can learn and achieve more. Some older parents or grandparents actually get insulted at the idea of self-improvement, as if you're not grateful for the life you've been given. Quite the opposite is true. Self-improvement is a natural part of human evolution and we actually have the power to create changes in any area of our life where we're not satisfied. Many people go through their whole lives not understanding that power. This might sound like a heavy topic but it's an important one, especially if you feel you're not reaching the goals you've set for yourself. Keep in mind that comfort zones appear in every aspect of our lives. Career is the obvious one but it also shows up in our finances and relationships, too. In this episode, we're talking about the 4 stages of moving through your comfort zone into a new way of being. Be sure to take notes and be honest with yourself as you answer the questions. There's no shame, blame, or guilt. We all have different journeys, we'll face different hurdles, and we'll have a different timeframe for breaking free of our comfort zones. The most important thing is to be consistent with your actions and be willing to learn throughout the process. Remember, we don't develop our confidence and skillset when things are easy. Journal prompts: What holds me back from consistency? Am I ready and willing to see new opportunities for amazing things to happen? What can I do that's new this week? What can I learn? In which area of my life do I feel most stuck? Which of my current habits are not serving me right now? Quotes to remember: "What you don't acknowledge, you can't fix. Your awareness is your power." “Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real.” “This process is about progress, not perfection.” "It's not about someone's approval; it's about OUR achievement." “Your brain learns through the struggle. It wants to be challenged.” “Stop focusing on 'having' ... focus on the 'being' and 'doing'.” Resources mentioned in the show: FB Community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/mondaymorningmojo Download the Wheel of Life Workbook: https://www.myfcoaching.com/wheeloflife How to Fill Out the Wheel of Life (video): https://youtu.be/Cv-Fw5dgSiE Connect with Anna: Email: agibbs2@kw.com Facebook: @CoachAnnaGibbs Instagram: @CoachAnnaGibbs YouTube: @Annagibbsatkw Coaching: coachannagibbs.com To learn more about the supplements and products Anna uses to improve her overall health and well-being visit: https://plexusworldwide.com/annagibbs

Let Them Love You (8-13-23)

Do you reject compliments, explaining why you don't really deserve them?  Do you get nervous when someone does something nice for you, turn down offers of help even when you could really use them, or hate the feeling you get when someone forgives you or extends grace and kindness your way?  Today's show is on letting other people love you.

Fear, Can We Use It As An Advantage and How To Harness that Power? Do you understand the fear in your life? How is fear holding you back? The Purposeful use of fear. Fear has much power and control over many people's lives. Neuro Associative Conditioning (NAC) is the key to understanding how to use fear to move us in a positive direction. It is the Fears of Rejection, embarrassment and Failure that do more to keep people down than almost anything else in the world. Fear has become a cudgel for others to use against us, and for us to use against ourselves. What is the genesis of these fears, and how can we use them to seek understanding? It is hard to do battle with an enemy you can't identify. What is your greatest fear? What is the basis for that fear? Mr. Black will take a poem from friend Larry Houghton, ‘Enough' to build the case for False Evidence Appearing Real.  Get daily inspiration from our blog www.wayofwarrior.blog.
