A guest speaker finishes our Life Together series by talking about a believer's duty to evangelism or go and make disciples. Our modern-day reluctance to obey in this area is similar to the delayed obedience that the returning exiles showed in God's command for them to rebuild the temple. This message examines the heart and motives behind delayed obedience, and how we can, by God's grace, make a plan to delay no longer.Scripture: Haggai 1:1–11
In Colossiand 3:5-11, we see that because we are dead to the world, our Union with Christ empowers us to put to death our sinful nature.

While the idea that Christians have a sinful nature is rampant throughout Christian teaching, the Bible does not actually teach this concept. Instead, it teaches we believers have a brand new, righteous self through the resurrection of Christ (2 Peter 1:4; Colossians 3:1; Romans 6:18). Even though we still sin, we are not sinful by nature at our core anymore. We have been born again, and we are now the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21)!

If God Is All-Knowing, Why Did He Create Humans Knowing They'd Be Of Sinful Nature? So Did God Create The Angels Too Knowing They'd Fall? Why Not Destroy Satan To Begin With And Avoid All This Extra Nonsense?

(Genesis 1:1, 26-28)2. Know the STRATEGY of your ENEMY. (Genesis 3:1-5)3. Understand that you have a SINFUL NATURE. (Genesis 3:6-13)4. Find HOPE in God's PROVISION for you. Occasionally, you'll hear someone say, "Well, at least it's not murder." Or, "it was only a little white lie." So often, we find ourselves ranking sins. This begs the question, "Is there a Hierarchy of Sin?" On today's episode of Everyday Theology, Ravae spends time answering this question and more! After we come to know God's grace, then what? For example, how would we deal with addiction? How did God rescue us from being dead in our sins? How can my daughter get closer to God? Should we get her water baptized? My son has been abused by his father, and no one will listen to our case. Please help me get these terms, straight: old self, flesh, sinful nature, sin, carnal mind. *Previously aired To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1258/29

E.Z. has endured his own spiritual battles in life. By 15 years old, he had been expelled from two schools, joined the Crips gang, was a rap artist who struggled with substance abuse. He later attempted suicide in front of his family. In 1991, he underwent a profound transformation after hearing the gospel and turned his life over to Christ. By twenty-one, E.Z. was an ordained pastor attending a Christian university, married, and had started a family. Emeal “E.Z.” Zwayne is the president of Living Waters (with Ray Comfort), and author of Fight Like a Man: A Bold, Biblical Battle Plan for Personal Purity that presents biblical truths and strategies to combat the enemies of purity. Whether the battle is with lust, pornography, sex outside marriage, or adultery and despite how many times we’ve failed to overcome sexual sin, E.Z. assures us that hope is available through the love, forgiveness, and grace of God, which were demonstrated through the death and resurrection of Christ.Support the show: https://give.moodyradio.org/fall-share?v=def&appeal=MRWM&_gl=1%2a142i9we%2a_ga%2aNTE4MTE5MmUtY2U1Yy00YmQ3LWU4MmUtNjEwYTQ5YzAyODRj%2a_ga_4WH1937046%2aMTY5NTExODEwMS4yOTkuMC4xNjk1MTE4MTAxLjYwLjAuMA..&_ga=2.197426156.215784306.1695059984-1182841406.166859587See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A few days ago a question was asked on a post i shaired. If man has a sinful nature and can not help but to sin then how can a just God sentence him to an eternity in hell? I love this question and the moral dilemma implied in the question. Our Children's Director, Carly Ogren, takes the stage this week to explore Galatians 5 and the truths found within! Join us as we look at the freedom we can find in Christ, and how by the power of the Holy Spirit, we can live transformed lives!
As followers of Christ and members of God's kingdom, what kind of people should we be? What should we not be? What should we do and not do? What should be important to us what should be unimportant? We look at three passages that answer these exact questions, that detail both the values (the things we should cherish) and anti-values (the things we should reject), as children of God. Scriptures covered: Acts 10:34-35. Revelation 14:6-7. Colossians 3. Romans 12:9-21. Galatians 5:16-26 To see David Hicks on YouTube, click here.

2-4-24 | Part 4 of our Colossians sermons series, "Cutting Away of Sinful Nature". Today's Bible verses are Colossians 2:6-15. When Paul wrote his letter to the church in Colosse from prison, he taught them that Christ is all that matters. Not religious rituals, not current culture teaching, but Christ is enough. This series looks verse-by-verse in the book of Colossians to see what the Holy Spirit is telling the Church about how to live as the body of Christ.

A special segment of IGH Q & A addresses “sinful nature” or is man born as a sinner?
In this episode of Facing the Dark, we delve into the complex and sensitive topic of pregnancy and contraception. Dr. Kathy considers a new birth control pill that is cleared for over-the-counter distribution. We talk about the pill, while also highlighting how something like this happens in society and what is cheapened when it is. Dr. Kathy gives parents insight on how to celebrate family, marriage, children, and marital relations with kids and how to teach them to value them as well.
In today's episode, the guys return to Agustin's treatment of Romans 5:12, then investigate passages promoting alternatives to the doctrine of original sin. Will we find strong anti-original sin verses or just a series of general statements and observations? The Bible says all are put to death for their own sin, so does God break his own principle by putting everyone to death for Adam's sin? Who made us; our parents, ourselves, or God? Are we beautifully and wonderfully made in God's image or are we sinfully made? Did God create us as vessels for sin? You don't want to skip this episode.
This week Sam, John, and Ron continue to look at what the Bible says about sin. The guys focus this episode on the passages that are routinely used to support the doctrine of original sin and see how they hold up to scrutiny. Of the many passages from the Old Testament that paint the picture of sinful humanity, most come from poetry. Should we be more careful about building doctrine off poetic sources? What about the New Testament, will we find strong support for Original Sin? Only one way to find out…
This week Sam, and John, try to keep Ron in the Old Testament as they begin laying the biblical foundation for our understanding of original sin. The guys delve into key questions such as the usage of the term "sin" in the Bible, and how the Bible's depiction of figures such as Cain, Enoch, and Noah relates to the notion that every inclination of the heart is evil all the time. The guys posit why the popular narrative, “Image bourn, image lost, image regained” improperly frames the story, and touch on what the Bible implies about God and his proximity to us in light of our sins. Key interpretive differences: Image-bearers vs sin-bearers.
How do you determine if negative feelings are from hormone issues or a sinful nature? When it comes to feelings, feelings are a physiological response to something. It's an emotion. It's in our body. We can't necessarily control where feelings come from (ie. hunger). It's not a sin to just feel a feeling. It's what we do with that feeling that makes it sinful or not. Hormone issues can be a root of a feeling that's sinful or a feeling that we have to surrender to the Lord, move past and choose not to act on or wallow in. There is a definitive line that is hard to identify for us humans as to when it crosses over to sin. Clearly we are told in the Bible that Jesus was tempted as every man's been tempted and yet He was without sin. That makes it very clear that being tempted is not sining. It's obviously a sin when you act out in those things though. A defining characteristic of Christians is that we are not bondage to our bodies anymore in Christ. We've been set free from any captivity that our bodies had over us prior to Christ. Our old man is dead. We are new creations in Christ. We came to Christ in faith and are now no longer slaves to sin, but we are redeemed in Christ's righteousness. We are learning and growing as Christians every day. The Bible tells us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior. Growth is a part of being a Christian. “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” - Proverbs 22:3 What's one vice that you're always praying to overcome? A scary thing a lot of Christians do is categorize various big sins like pornography, drunkenness and adultery and think that you're good if you haven't done those things. God's standard is so much higher than these overt sins we like to categorize. How do you overcome your vice? If it's a conviction thing then you need to bring it to the Lord and know that you're free to walk away from it. There are many things that aren't a sin unless you make it a sin. One things that has been helpful is being clear on what we actually want our life to look like and then being proactive and spending our time doing that instead. If you're passionate and excited about that thing, then you won't have the time to do those other things that were consuming your life and becoming a vice. In our Christian walk, we should be thinking about who we are turning towards, instead of what we are turning away from. It is very easy to wallow in the sin of what we did today and the sin of the past. We have to be daily turning towards Christ. The only freedom from any vice is going to be found in Jesus Christ, in what He's accomplished and who He is! “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” - Hebrews 12:2 - Looking for more Now That We're A Family resources?
