The Knicks finally traded Carmelo Anthony with the perennial All-Star being moved to Oklahoma City in exchange for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott, and a draft pick. Kahlil and Jason will give their thoughts on the deal and what it means for both teams. Joining the show will be Double G Sports basketball writer Ben McDonald with his thoughts on the trade and if the Knicks got back what they deserved or could have gotten more for Melo. All this and more on a special emergency edition of The Box Out on Double G Sports radio.
The Box Out returns as we move ever so closer to the beginning of the NBA season. As the start of the season draws near, so does the likelihood of the Knicks beginning the season with Carmelo Anthony on the roster. The problem….a new blog post by Knick GM Scott Perry on Thursday does not include Carmelo in the discussion of the team. There were also reports this week that Anthony is confident that New York will trade him to Houston by Monday. Add in the comments by Michael Beasley that the Knicks can compete for the fifth or sixth playoff spot and there is a ton to talk about when it comes to the Knicks. Kahlil and Jason will discuss all the goings on with the Knicks as the soap opera continues. That and Kevin Durant’s social media issues and the new NBA jerseys, all on a brand new episode of The Box Out on Double G Sports Radio.
The Box Out returns with the aftermath of the Kyrie Irving trade to the Boston Celtics. After Cleveland had buyers remorse and attempted to get more from Boston, the trade was finally completed with the addition of a 2020 second-round pick also going to Cleveland. Now that the deal is done, is Cleveland still the best team in the Eastern Conference? Does this trade push Boston past Cleveland? With the successful first season of the Big 3 now in the books, they are now facing a lawsuit from another legends league. However, with a second season guaranteed can the Big 3 one day rival the NBA one day? The guys will discuss. The NFL is still answering questions about Colin Kaepernick and why he still does not have a job in the league. Kahlil and Jason will discuss whether this has or ever will ever happen in the NBA and why the NBA seems light years ahead of the NFL when it comes to player activism and social awareness. All that and more, including the NBA attempting to stop teams tanking for draft picks, on a new episode of The Box Out.
Did McGregor pull it off? Is Mayweather 50-0? The entire fight will be discussed, along with a SummerSlam review and more
The Box Out comes to you on a Friday night, a little later than normal but news packed nonetheless. Well, it finally happened - Kyrie Irving was traded this week. Irving went to the Boston Celtics for Isiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and Boston’s first round draft pick that belonged to the Nets. With the trade now complete, what does this mean for both the Celtics and the Cavaliers? Does this trade push Boston past Cleveland into the number one contenders for the Eastern Conference? With the Kyrie deal done, the question locally becomes what does all of this mean for the New York Knicks? No Kyrie and Carmelo is still on the team. Where do the Knicks go from here? Do the entertain the Houston Rockets’ offer for Melo, including Ryan Anderson? That and more, including whether the Bulls will buy out Dwyane Wade’s contract, on The Box Out.

Football season is here and it's time to talk about the Giants and the Jets. Also, with the Subway series around the corner it's time to talk Yankees & Mets.
The Box Out returns after a week off to drop massive knowledge about the sport of basketball. The Knicks have filled their roster this week with new players Ramon Sessions and Michael Beasley. While those names do not instill fear in the NBA, is this the only moves left to make until the Carmelo Anthony situation is solved? Kahlil and Jason will discuss. While basketball news dies during the summer, The Box Out will explore different basketball films and whether they still hold up today. Two weeks ago was Above The Rim and this week, the guys will look at the film Blue Chips starring Nick Nolte, Shaquille O’Neal and Penny Hardaway. There were a lot of themes in the movie so Kahlil and Jason will discuss whether the themes in the movie still holds true today in college basketball and athletes as a whole. That and more, including some WNBA news about the New York Liberty, all on this edition of The Box Out.
The New York Baseball teams are wheeling and dealing. The Mets have been buyers and sellers which actually makes sense. Meanwhile, the Yankees seem like they're really going for it this year, at least as much as they can without giving up MAJOR prospects. We'll be talking with Nick Vigliotti of MLB Advanced Media all about his thoughts on the moves of the Yankees. Charles Oakley recently came out saying that he believes NBA players now a day might as well be wearing dresses, that's how soft they are. Are those comments warranted? We'll discuss. Also, NFL training camp has begun and what is the outlook in the Big Apple for Big Blue and Gang Green?
Jon Jones is on top of the mountain again! Today's show is all about one of the best UFC cards this year. Also discussing SummerSlam plans. Call (914) 338-0897
The Box Out returns after a week off and just when we thought there was no more NBA news to report, more continues to happen. Last week, it was reported that Kyrie Irving requested a trade out of Cleveland as he was no longer interested in being LeBron James’ little brother. There are reportedly four teams on Irving’s wish list to get traded to, and one of them is...THE NEW YORK KNICKS. What does this mean for the Knicks, Irving and more importantly Carmelo Anthony who is looking for a way out? Kahlil and Jason will discuss. In local news, the Nets for Allen Crabbe this week. If you remember the Nets signed Crabbe to an offer sheet last summer, which Portland matched. Now Brooklyn finally gets the guys they want. The guys talk about whether this means that the Nets could be a fringe playoff team. Finally, in a special summer topic, Kahlil and Jason will look back on the classic movie “Above The Rim” starting Duane Martin and Tupac Shakur. Where does this movie fall in all-time great basketball films? All that and more on a new episode of The Box Out.
The Carmelo Anthony trade talks are hitting a fever pitch! With Kyrie Irving asking the Cavaliers for a trade, the Knicks fanbase have turned their attention to Cleveland. Could Kyrie come the Big Apple? Where would Melo land? The guys talk it out and discuss the possiblities. Also, Mets and Yankess talk on the sho as well.
We are back to talk about UFC Long Island, WWE Battleground and Kurt Angle's son! All that, and much more. Call in at (914) 338-0897
The Big Apple is full of surprises and drama for that matter. Who would have thought Phil Jackson would do such a terrible job as the President of Basketball Operations for the New York Knicks? Who knew the New York Mets were going to be so underwhelming this season? And who saw THIS coming from Aaron Judge? Well, for the Knicks it's out with the old and in with the new, kind of. Steve Mills has been promoted to President while former Sacramento Kings Executive Scott Perry has been hired as the GM. Will this combination work or should the Knicks have gone in a different direction and cleaned house? Yes, we know the Mets have struggled so far this season and it's in large part due to injury. Lead Mets Writer for Double G Sports, Dan Yanofsky will join us again this week to touch on the Mets and his experience at the All-Star Game. How about that Aaron Judge!? Honestly, who could have projected that kind of first-half production from the youngster? We all knew he was a big strong guy but he's turned himself into a really good hitter. But now it's about adjustments, sooner or later pitchers will begin to take advantage of his weaknesses and thus the cat and mouse game ensues. Will Judge be able to then adjust to the pitchers, that's the big question on our minds. Also, are the New York Yankees going to contend for a playoff spot this season?
The Box Out returns after another week of NBA Free Agency. Gordon Hayward is in Boston, Paul George was officially introduced to the OKC faithful and the Knicks...have done almost nothing. Throw in David Griffin backing out of the GM job for the team and this off-season has been a disaster for the Knickerbockers. What is the plan for the New York Knicks? The Nets lost out on Otto Porter but were able to trade for DeMarre Carroll from the Raptors. Are the Nets a possible eighth-seed in the Eastern Conference? With many of the major moves done for the summer, which teams bettered themselves to compete for a playoff spot and face their inevitable loss to the Golden State Warriors? That and more on this week’s The Box Out.
Welcome back to another edition of The Big Apple Sports Hour with Stopsky and G, we missed you all over the 4th of July holiday. But, now we're back and ready to dive into some New York Sports! We'll kick it off by talking about the New York baseball scene as both the Mets and the Yankees are limping into the All-Star break. In addition, we'll be talking to Lead Mets Writer for Double G Sports, Dan Yanofsky live from the sight of the 2017 All-Star festivities in sunny Miami, FL. The second half of the show is all yours, feel free to give us a call to chime in on anything. But what we'll be getting into is what's caused such a spike in home runs this season, Stopsky will tell us why the New York Jets tanking will backfire, and what the latest is on the New York Knicks.
The Box Out is back at it with the aftermath of the beginning of NBA Free Agency. Major news came out this week after Gordon Hayward announced that he would be signing with the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are now trying to free cap space to sign him with three players now on the trading block. Kahlil and Jason will look at the move and whether it makes the Celtics the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. Paul George is now a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder as the Pacers traded him to OKC for almost nothing. Does OKC move up in the Western Conference pecking order? Wil George consider staying with the Thunder or continue towards LA? The guys will discuss. Finally after firing Phil Jackson, the Knicks has done next to nothing during free agency and now are being linked to Rajon Rondo. What should the Knicks do? That and much more on the episode of The Box Out.

Another significant move occurred on Wednesday when the Clippers traded Chris Paul to the Rockets for seven players, a first-round draft pick and cash. This move put the Rockets into the conversation as a possible opponent for the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals next season. The guys will discuss the move and what the hell is going on in LA. That and more, including Russell Westbrook’s MVP speech and the NBA Awards review, on this week’s The Box Out.

It was a good weekend to be a fan of the New York Baseball teams. The New York Mets took 3 out of 4 from the Atlanta Braves where Steven Matz and Seth Lugo made their season debuts and Yoenis Cesepedes made a thunderous return to the lineup.
