We finally got our man! We said it from day 1 of starting this podcast that we always wanted to pick the brain of the man that started it all, Matt Cerrone, and he didn't disappoint. For the uninitiated, Cerrone was the OG Mets blogger. Long before the days of Twitter and websites giving a voice to the common man, Cerrone was grinding away covering the Amazin's in a way that fans could appreciate. He didn't sugar coat it, he reacted like we reacted and he was damn good at his job. We talked about the beginning days of MetsBlog, being acquired by SNY, working for the Wilpons and Mets' misery in general. An inside look from a guy who had worked both sides of the fence. Really interesting guy that wasn't afraid to let it fly! No Wilpon shills here, we got down to the behind-the-scenes dealings of the team, the wildest things he encountered on the job and what he's most excited about with the new regime. BONUS Part 2: After recording the episode ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. Uncle Stevie was somehow wrapped up in the GameStop saga on Wall Street (unjustly) and our worlds collided as Steve Cohen and Dave Portnoy go into it on Twitter. KFC KNEW that Stevie being on Twitter was a bad idea, but never in his worst of nightmares would he have thought that Cohen would be going back and forth with Mr. Pageviews himself. A perfect storm of circumstance, but thankfully he held his own and walked out of the arena with the head held high. You don't get the show 'Billions' made about you by walking into a firing squad so we gotta believe that he knew what he was doing, but BOY was it touch-and-go there for a minute.
This week, hosts Kyle Bunch and Don Povia are joined by Matt Cerrone, creator of SNY's The Mets Blog. Matt opens up to the guys about his personal and professional struggles that accompanied his success, and his search for the purity and happiness that once came with simply writing about a team and sport he loved.
In this episode of Simply Amazin', Tim Ryder of MetsMerized Online is joined by MetsBlog's Matthew Cerrone to discuss the hiring of Carlos Beltran and how his gobs of baseball experience might make up for his lack of managerial experience. They also touch on Edgardo Alfonzo's exit from Brooklyn, the current roster, comparisons can be drawn between the 2005 off-season and more! AUDIO CRED: SNY MUSIC CRED: "El Esta Aqui" by David Y Abraham
Mike Silva is joined by Matt Cerrone of SNY’s Metsblog. The guys talk about Mickey Callaway’s job status, how the New York media treats the Mets vs. the Yankees, and if the league is tampering with the baseball to change the game for the next generation of fans.
Mike Silva is joined by Matt Cerrone of Metsblog. They discuss his book “The New York Mets Fans Bucket List” and the current team. Hear their thoughts on Matt Harvey, David Wright’s progress and the importance of the team’s response to the recent gut-wrenching defeats to the Nationals and Braves.
Doug Williams and Andy Martino definitely give a hoot about Keith's tweets as they sit down for another Shea Anything podcast. The guys discuss the bullpen implosion vs. the Nats and the possibility of a Amed Rosario for JT Realmuto trade. Later, Andy pitches Doug on an idea for Baseball Night in New York, and talks about his post on MetsBlog about Matt Harvey and Zack Wheeler's tenuous spots in the starting rotation.
Chase Thomas is joined by NBA Math and Bleacher Report's Dan Favale to talk about intriguing restricted free agent players this summer (3:00), the Kawhi Leonard trade rumors (13:00), why the Heat stuff doesn't make sense (20:00), Sixers and Wizards playoff odds (35:00), potential John Wall trades (45:00), and Hassan Whiteside potentially getting traded to the Lakers (50:00). Then, SNY TV MetsBlog's Matthew Cerrone to talk about the history of the site (56:00), Matt Harvey's resurgence (73:00), Michael Conforto's status (78:00), and whether or not the Mets can make the playoffs this year (83:00). MetsBlog creator and lead writer Matt Cerrone joins the show. He talks about hs new book, the Mets disappointing season, their future, and much more.
Matt Cerrone was one of the pioneers of digital sports media. MetsBlog.com, the site he created in the 2000s, has been an indispensable resource for New York Mets fans. He joins Brian this week to talk about just what the heck happened to the Mets this season, and the challenges and opportunities that a bad year like this presents to writers and storytellers. Matt talks about how he created MetsBlog and how he maintains it while still being a dad to two young kids, why knowing your own strength and weaknesses is so important to being a writer, how blogging really hasn't changed that much and why journalists need to realize that they're in the customer service. He and Brian also talk about Matt's new book and the joys of New England IPAs.

The Total Tutor Neil Haley and Peter Elvidge will interview Matt Cerrone, author of “The New York Mets Fans' Bucket List” . Every New York Mets fan has a bucket list of activities to take part in at some point in their lives. But even the most die-hard fans haven't done everything there is to experience in and around New York. From singing "Meet the Mets" to running the old Shea Stadium bases, author Matthew Cerrone provides ideas, recommendations, and insider tips for must-see places and can't-miss activities near Citi Field. But not every experience requires a trip to Queens; long-distance Mets fans can cross some items off their list from the comfort of their own homes. Whether you're attending every home game or supporting the Mets from afar, there's something for every fan to do in The New York Mets Fans' Bucket List. Matthew Cerrone is the lead writer and creator of MetsBlog.com. Prior to making MetsBlog.com a full-time job in 2006, Cerrone worked as a communication strategist for politicians, authors and entertainers. In 2007, he partnered with SportsNet NY, the TV home of the Mets, to help develop more in-depth content for MetsBlog.com, while working to create new team-specific blogs for their website, SNY.tv. In 2003, Matt Cerrone started writing online about the New York Mets for a project in college. In time, he turned MetsBlog.com into 500 million page views, a Cynopsis Sports Blog of the Year nominee, a job as Director of Digital Content for SNY, and a consulting business helping people reach .online sports fans. A longtime friend to Gotham Baseball, Cerrone joins its founder Mark C. Healey for the newest installment of Gotham Baseball Live. They will discuss the current state of the Mets and the team's outlook for 2017. Cerrone who recently left his position with SNY, will share his vision for his new venture, Sports Content Inc.
We'll look into the spring with our good friend Matthew Cerrone of Metsblog.
Brian tired himself out after venting his continuing frustration at the lack of activity by the Mets front office, Matt Harvey declining to unblock him on Twitter despite extreme awareness, declaring we are all currently living in the darkest timeline, and from sending Roger to the therapist's office to admit he's frustrated at the Mets as well. (Yes, Jay Bruce was involved.) Fortunately, Brian had a lot of positive energy hosting a game show a few days earlier testing Mets fans' knowledge of their favorite baseball team, romance novels, and serial killers at the Queens Baseball Convention. In an even more fortuitous stroke of luck, the flattering facsimile of 'Billy on the Street' was recorded and presented on this episode. J.T. Teran and Michelle Ioannou of Rising Apple, Matthew Cerrone of MetsBlog, and members of the the Citi Field Sheas and The 7 Line Army were among the fun contestants. The two also went into the mailbag and answered listeners' questions and concerns, like if the team's new 'catching guru' can cure Travis d'Arnaud, if the fans and media will enjoy another spring training car and pony show from Yoenis Cespedes, and if David Wright will start more games than Michael Conforto. Feel free to email or leave a voice memo at goodfundies@gmail.com to take part in that in the future.
A look at The State of the Mets as we head into 2017 Spring Training. A panel discussion from the 2017 Queens Baseball Convention with ESPN's Adam Rubin, MetsBlog.com's Matthew Cerrone, WOR's Pete McCarthy and WFAN's Evan Roberts. Your moderator is Mark Healey.
Episode 4 of Slight Work - An interview with Matthew Cerrone, founder of Mets Blog and sports media consultant
After Brian and Roger debated over whether or not anybody will get the references to Wilmer Flores' favorite show 'Friends', they talked Tim Tebow, how the Mets have become unstoppable, and whom to blame for Michael Conforto not being his old amazing self this season. Then they welcomed MetsBlog founder Matthew Cerrone. Him and Brian admitted they thought the season was over two weeks ago before Matt went into how the Mets are employing the rope-a-dope strategy, the origins of MetsBlog, why he's writing a book during a pennant race, dealing with someone with the same name as you, and of course, #Tebow. Then Roger and Brian said goodbye to Turner Field, the worst place in the known universe, before feeling sorry for Matt Reynolds (again) and dipping into the mailbag.
Mike Silva talks with Kevin Kernan of the NY Post about Bartolo Colon's historic home run and whether they rely on too many long balls. Michael Baron, formerly of Metsblog fame, chats about Matt Harvey's performance against the Padres.
We'll talk Grapefruit League action with our good friend Maggie Wiggin from Metsblog (@maggie162)
We'll celebrate the 2015 National League Champions, the NY Mets, and preview the World Series along with Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal and Matthew Cerrone of Metsblog.co

Matt Cerrone represents the new frontier of digital media. Formerly an independent blogger with MetsBlog.com, which he grew into a powerhouse brand with over 250 million hits on his site, Cerrone has now entered the big leagues as the Director of Digital at SNY cable television. Cerrone discusses some of the various issues surrounding the blog, podcast and overall digital landscape, where folks mostly misconstrude what it truly takes to generate a lot of hits by building a brand overtime, instead of being an overnight success. Cerrone also talks about his role at SNY, as well as why the talent pool in the world of blogging may be a lot thinner than it was only a few years prior. Twitter: @MatthewCerrone

Inside this edition of "Without a Curse," Alex previews the NL East with Chris McShane of the "Amazin' Avenue" Mets blog on SB Nation. Alex and Chris discuss whether Mets fans are optimistic about the club this season, given that the team spent $90 million in free agency and have a plethora of young arms in the system. Though Matt Harvey won't be ready for 2014, he should be recovered for a potential playoff push in 2015. The Phillies continue to operate as if they can eek another season of contention out of their aging core, though Alex and Chris have their doubts if that will be the case. With the losses the Braves underwent in free agency, it seems as if the Nationals may be posed to rebound from a disappointing 2013 and capture the division title for the second time in three years. In terms of Red Sox news from the past week, Alex talks about the Marlins' apparent "outrage" at the "B" lineup the Red Sox put out against them in Grapefruit League action last Thursday, and John Henry's stinging rebuttal on Twitter. Never mind the fact that Jeffrey Loria may not own the Marlins if it wasn't for Henry's complicity in his orchestrated purchase of the team in 2002, after bought the Red Sox in December 2001. Let's not let history get in the way of a good diss, even if Henry's words may now cost the Red Sox an opportunity to acquire Giancarlo Stanton if he's put on the trade market. John Farrell's concerns over the infield defense, the positional battle in center field and Shane Victorino's reported decision to give up pinch-hitting are touched upon as well. In the "Around the League" segment, Alex shares some reservations he has about MLB's new policy about collisions at home plate. The catcher is now protected, but the runner isn't. Alex announced last week that he'll be a contributor to Glenn Ordway's latest venture, Sports Talk Boston. "The Big Show Unfiltered" launches March 17, and will air weekdays 3-6 p.m. EST. The "old guard" is on notice. Email Alex at ajreimer0@gmail.com or areimer@streetwise-media.com, and follow him on Twitter @AlexReimer1.

Episode #146 - sponsored by: Blue Haven Recorded on 6.27.13 We had a Rusty Staub level pinch hitter jump in for Matt Cerrone of Metsblog; Cousin Bobby from Nashville, a lifelong Mets fan, regaled us with stories of Ebbets Field, Shea Stadium, and what it was like to be a displaced fan in the days before the internet. A truly memorable conversation. Then we DID have Joe Caporoso, Founder of TurnonTheJets.com, and host of TOJ Podcast join us, and he, as always, "bringed it", as the kids say. We got in over an hour of excellent Jets talk, from personell decisions to how the growing popularity of his blog has changed his Jet

The guys got a brief history of Matt and his ties with SNY before we got down to the nitty gritty of the off-season... We discussed the moves (or lack thereof) the Mets made over the winter, what we like (and what we don't) in Spring Training and just where exactly is this franchise heading? All in all it makes for an interesting listen and a fascinating insight into Matt and the rest of his team. We hope you enjoy this latest installment of MetsBhoys.
