Since the start of the NFL offseason, the Jets have been one of the busiest clubs in the league by either trading for, signing or re-signing a total of seventeen players.  Most of the work Gang Green has done comes on the defensive side of the ball, but we’re going to look at each and every one right here, no matter the position. https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/70638022/download.mp3 DT T’Vondre Sweat:  Added via trade from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for defensive end Jermaine Johnson, Sweat gives the Jets a 366-pund mountain in the middle of their defense.  His 79.3 grade against the run was good enough for fifth in the NFL among defensive tackles with at least 100 reps according to PFF.com. The man they call “meatloaf” won the 2023 Outland Trophy at the University of Texas and was a unanimous All-American.  Believed by some to be a first-round prospect entering the 2023 draft, Sweat would go early in round 2 with the 38th overall pick. As promised, some T'Vondre Sweat (93) highlights after watching a few of his 2025 games. Normally I'd highlight him, but he's 360 pounds, folks. If you can't find him then what are we even doing here?@nyjets getting a guy of this caliber while shedding $10 mil is a win. pic.twitter.com/4FptFw04tw — Glenn Naughton (@JNRadio_Glenn) February 27, 2026 Safety, Minkah Fitzpatrick: The Jets added Fitzpatrick, who was on the verge of being released, for a seventh-round draft choice.  Presumably, the Jets did not believe Fitzpatrick would sign if he were to hit free agency, so they parted with a late pick to acquire his services. Once one of the league’s top ball hawks, Fitzpatrick spent much of last year playing the slot and intercepted just one pass.  Even with Fitzpatrick having a diminished impact, he is an upgrade over much of what the Jets rolled out at safety last season.  Exactly what his role will be with Gang Green remains to be seen but he did mention the possibility of being the Jets “big nickel”. DE Joseph Ossai: Signed to a 3-year deal for up to $36 million, Ossai tied his career high with five sacks in 2025 but there is some data that suggests he could be on the verge of a breakout.  Of his five sacks this season, three of those, and eight of his 12 QB hits came over the final six weeks of the season.  We’ll see if a strong finish to 2025 translates into a fast start in 2026. A disruptive player against the run in college for the University of Texas, Ossai picked up a career-high 9 tackles for loss last season which indicates even more progress for the 6′ 4” 253 pounder. Another encouraging number on Ossai is his total pressures as he managed a personal best of 43 after picking up 32 in 2024.  Ossai gives the Jets a high ceiling defender who is clearly trending upward. DE Kingsley Enagbare:  The Jets inked Enagbare to a 1-year deal worth up to $10 million after spending the first four years of his career in Green Bay with the Packers.  The 6′ 4” 258 pounder should be good fit in the Jets new 3-4 scheme as he spent time at defensive end and outside linebacker for the Packers. Enagbare had a solid 23 stops last season as a part-time player and one thing that stands out is his pursuit/motor.  Enagbare will cover as much ground as he has to in order to get in on a defensive stop.  The exact style Aaron Glenn is looking for. LB DeMario Davis: Back with the Jets for a third time on a 2-year deal worth up to $22 million, what is there to say about Davis that even a casual fan doesn’t know.  A guy you can put down for 100 tackles every year as he’s missed that mark just twice since being drafted back in 2012. Davis has spent the past eight seasons in New Orleans with the Saints where the fewest tackles he’s logged in a season was 105 back in 2021, and topping out with a career high last season with 143 at 37-years-old. "I know what it means to be a part of the Jets family. I know what it means to wear these colors, to wear this brand. It means a lot coming back." Demario Davis' talks about returning to the Jets: pic.twitter.com/8YHg2k5SCh — Jets Videos (@snyjets) March 12, 2026 DT David Onyemata: Familiar with head coach Aaron Glenn from their time together in New Orleans, Onyemata should be a key piece of the Jets fixing what was a putrid run defense last season.  According to PFF, the 310 pound DT was tied for 10th in the NFL with 28 stops, defined as a taackle that constitutes a failure on offense. The durable Onyemata has started at least fourteen games in six of his past seven seasons, logging a career-high 62 tackles last season with 7 being tackles for loss. David Onyemata joins T'Vondre Sweat in the middle of a revamped @nyjets D-line to put a stop to teams running the ball down their throat all day. pic.twitter.com/te4cgz4CHS — Glenn Naughton (@JNRadio_Glenn) March 9, 2026 FB Andrew Beck: An signing that won’t move the needle for most, Beck is actually a solid player who just happens to play a position whose role has been diminished in recent years.  But if offensive coordinator Frank Reich wanted to retain Beck, perhaps he envisions a role for him in his offense. Beck played double-digit snaps just three times in 2025 with his season high being 11 against the Bills and Jaguars. S Dane Belton: A potentially huge “bang for your buck” candidate as Belton got a 1-year deal worth up to $6 million after landing with the Giants as a fourth round pick out of Iowa back in 2022.  A superior athlete who shows off explosion and sure tackling, Belton could become a fan favorite in short order between his face in the fan style and big time hits on special teams. If you were to watch Belton on just a handful of plays, you wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to learn he has an RAS (Relative Athletic Score) of 9.35. QB Geno Smith: The Jets sent a 2026 6th-round pick to the Raiders in exchange for Smith and a 7th-round pick.  Even knowing Smith was about to be released, the Jets wanted to avoid having Smith choose a different club so secured his services via trade. Despite some objections from an extremely loud minority of fans, it seems Smith’s return is popular among fans. While Smith did throw a whopping 17 interceptions last season, it’s worth noting that the Raiders were a disaster on the offensive line, didn’t have any legitimate targets for Smith to throw to, and were always playing from behind.  Add to that the fact that offensive coordinator Chip Kelly was calling plays that weren’t installed during the week and it was all a recipe for disaster. CB Nahshon Wright: The Jets got a surprisingly good bargain with Wright who came on board for a max value deal of $5.5 million for one season.  This, despite being a young (27-years-old), 6′ 4” pro bowler coming off of a five interception season. WOW! Some impressive stuff here from newest @nyjets CB Nahshon Wright (@nahwrig). All five of his 2025 interceptions right here, and the last one is incredible.@JetNation pic.twitter.com/SAeNhiezSt — Glenn Naughton (@JNRadio_Glenn) March 10, 2026 Clearly there are some good bloodlines in the Wright family as his brother Rejzohn is a cornerback for the New Orleans Saints.  Expect an interesting training camp battle between Wright and Azareye’h Thomas. K Cade York:  York was added after Nick Folk departed in free agency but he won’t be alone come camp time.  York is a long shot to make the roster so expect a rookie day 3 pick, undrafted free agent or veteran castoff to beat York out for the job.  His 73.3% conversion rate just isn’t good enough, unless it turns out Chris Banjo is a legitimate miracle worker. OL Max Mitchell: Mitchell returns on a 1-year deal after playing just 73 snaps last year with 52 of those coming as a run blocker.  The 2022 draft pick has had an up and down career up to this point but clearly did enough last year to at least earn himself a shot to last another year in Green and White. OG/C Xavier Newman? Newman has been a steadily improving player since arriving a few seasons ago and will have a shot to stick again as guard/center depth but may have an uphill battle should the Jets add an interior lineman through the draft. LG Dylan Parham: In need of a left guard following the departures of Alijah Vera-Tucker (Patriots) and John Simpson (Ravens), the Jets land a solid, experienced veteran in Parham.  It’s a 2-year deal worth up to $20 million.  Parham isn’t an elite level player, but has graded out as a solid pass blocker per PFF, picking up pass block grades of 60 or better in each of the past three seasons. The move also gives the Jets another versatile piece up front given the fact that  he has experience at both guard spots. LB Mykal Walker:  Walker quietly had a solid finish to the 2025 season as the Jets decided to bring him back on a 1-year deal.  According to NFL insider Justin Fried, Walker finished as the NFL’s 8th highest graded linebacker from weeks 14-18.  Largely unnoticed because the Jets were so bad as a unit, but obviously the front office was paying attention. Walker isn’t a household name, but has shown he can perform as a pro.  Starting twelve games for the Cardinals in 2022, he did rack up 107 tackles, a sack and two interceptions. OT Chukwuma Okorafor: One of those under-the-radar moves that you just have to have as the Jets now have an experienced veteran backup tackle in Okorafor.  He has started just eight games in the past three seasons but has started sixty for his career. S Andre Cisco:  Cisco’s 2025 season in Green and White was a massive disappointment as injuries ended his season after just eight games in which he made no notable impact.  This will give the former Jaguar a chance to regain the form he had in his previous four seasons when he intercepted eight passes and broke up 24 more.  For Cisco it’s a 1-year deal worth up to $5.25 million. KR/RB Kene Nwangwu: The oft-injured Nwangwu is one of the NFL’s best return men but is rarely available due to a variety of injuries.  But it’s not every day you can find a return man with 3 TD’s of 99 yards over the course of his career.  Last season Nwangwu averaged 33.6 yards per kick return and will have a shot to earn a roster spot again for 2026. Stop us if you’ve heard this one before, but the NFL offseason is about to kick off and the New York Jets will be in search of a quarterback.  Yes, for what feels like the 100th consecutive offseason, quarterback sits atop the Jets list of needs. https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/70458127/download.mp3 This time around, with an extraordinarily thin quarterback market, the Jets will essentially have two choices at quarterback.  They can go with a proven veteran who has shown their ceiling to be six or seven wins.  Then there are the unproven QB’s who are young, who have flashed and may get better with increased opportunities. And of course, there are a few names that Jets reportedly have, or at least should, rule out entirely. Sam Howell:  Howell has started just 17 career games, but has had some impressive outings.  In seven of his 17 starts he has thrown for at least 290 yards while racking up 300 yards on the ground.  This isn’t to say the Jets should look to add Howell and hand him a starting job, but he should certainly be an option to come in and compete. Will Levis: Chosen with the first pick in round 2 (33rd overall) in the 2023 draft, Levis is now nailed to the bench in Tennessee with Cam Ward holding the starting job.  There are plenty of questions surrounding Levis who has gone 5-16 as a starter thus far.  But with an actual QB guru in the building in Frank Reich, Levis may be worth bringing in for a look. Tyson Bagent:  Bagent stood out at the 2023 senior bowl and got on the field as a rookie for the Bears, going 2-2 and showing excellent poise.  He’s unlikely to become a high level starter, but getting a look at him would bring  more value than getting a look at many of the longer tenured veterans being mentioned.  Take for example…. Carson Wentz:  A former first-round pick and MVP candidate, Wentz’s best days are a distant memory.  His familiarity with Frank Reich’s offense have led to some mentioning his name, but at this point in his career he’s a beaten up veteran who has a difficult time staying on the field and will likely win you no more than five or six games. Jacoby Brissett:  Another veteran who has already played for Frank Reich, Brissett owns a career record of 20-45 and has never won more than seven games in a season and that was back in 2019.  Another veteran who likely tops out at six wins and leaves you no better off next offseason than you are today. Marcus Mariota: Mariota won a career high nine games but that was the better part of a decade ago.  He was last a starting QB back in 2022 when he went 5-8 which is about where his ceiling is.  If the Jets can win five games with a dead end veteran, why not look in another direction. Now there is another category of QB but these are true long shots for the Jets.  There are a pair of veterans who will offer great bang for buck or production that could make you competitive, but there are issues. Derek Carr: There have been whispers that the Jets like Carr and believe he can be had if they want him badly enough.  Problem is, as of right now he’s still retired.  Should he opt to come to the Jets in the coming weeks though, that would give the Jets a proven veteran who has been a pro bowler and has some years left in him. Kyler Murray: There are a million reasons not to sigh Murray, but there’s one very good one why they should.  Malik Willis may be the best free agent on the market, but Rich Cimini of ESPN New York says Gang Green won’t look to make a big splash.  If Cimini is right, the next best QB on the market will be Murray, whose contract calls for him to make the veteran minimum in 2026.  You won’t find better value anywhere. The post With Free Agency Coming, Jets Have two Ways to Approach QB appeared first on JetNation.com - New York Jets Blog & Forum. 3 Jets Players who Could Impact Gang Green's Draft Plans

JetNation Radio; NY Jets Podcast

While pundits, insiders and fans all try to figure out what Gang Green will do on draft day, it’s worth considering which current Jets could have the biggest impact on they do when they’re on the clock. https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/70361220/download.mp3 The general consensus appears to be that most believe a premium pick will be used to add a wide receiver given the lack of playmakers after Garrett Wilson at the position,  At the same time, the though of adding a cornerback early on won’t be in the cards.  Could we be wrong on both counts?  The Jets have plenty of questions to address, but some of the answers may already be in place. WR AD Mitchell:  By adding Mitchell in the Sauce Gardner trade last season, the Jets brought in a 6′ 2” pass catcher who ran a 4.34 40 and had plenty of quality tape against high level competition.  Of course he did very little with the Jets, but you can’t name a receiver who would have been productive with the level of play the Jets had at quarterback. Mitchell impressed when given a shot and absolutely has the ability to be a WR2.  Hell, in time he could develop into a WR1.  So do the Jets use a top 100 pick on a position if they believe internally that they aren’t desperate to add? CB Jarvis Brownlee: Brownlee was an in-season addition in a day 3 pick swap with the Titans.  Tennessee was willing to give up on the second-year corner because he couldn’t shake his tendency to commit penalties.   Brownlee had a few positive moments with the Jets, but also committed several penalties which could raise some red flags. Many fans seem to be comfortable with the idea of Brownlee being the team’s starting nickel, but if Aaron Glenn is looking to field a disciplined football team, could Brownlee’s penchant for getting dinged lead the team to look for a slot in the draft? C Josh Myers: Myers did a serviceable job at center last season which did lead him to inking a 2-year extension worth up to $11 million. It’s starter money, but hardly breaking the bank.  Do the Jets feel comfortable enough with Myers to forego the opportunity to grab a potential starter in a deep center class?  Our expectation is that the Jets take a center in the middle rounds who can compete for the starting job as Myers is hardly irreplaceable. TRADE: Jets Ship Jermaine Johnson to Tenn for T'Vondre Sweat

JetNation Radio; NY Jets Podcast

https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/70303105/download.mp3 In their first major move of the offseason, the New York Jets have shipped defensive end Jermaine Johnson off to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for massive nose tackle T’Vondre Sweat.  Johnson, a former first-round pick and true fan favorite, will be reunited with Robert Saleh who now has the head coaching job for the Titans. By adding T’Vondre Sweat, the Jets bring in a 350+ pound nose tackle who has not disappointed since entering the league two years ago out of the University of Texas as a second-round pick. Graded by the folks at PFF at 83.4 for his overall grade, and 79.3 against the run.  That’s where the Jets hope he’ll pay off most as their defense was consistently steamrolled by opposing running backs last season.  The deal also appears to answer one very important question for the Jets this offseason. By adding T’Vondre Sweat and moving on from Jermaine Johnson, one would assume Gang Green will be shifting to a 3-4 base defense.  That’s not to say Sweat couldn’t dominate in a 4-3, but this is the perfect first move a team would make if they were looking to add a true space eater to anchor a 3-4. The move may also give us some idea as to what Gang Green will look to do in the draft, as any undersized defensive ends may not be in the picture while the priority on adding bigger linebackers and ends comes in to focus. Making the switch from Johnson to Sweat will also add roughly $10 million in cap space for the Jets as free agency approaches. At the NFL Combine, Raiders GM John Spytek kept the door barely open on dealing the top pick, while Jets GM Darren Mougey's comments sounded a lot more final. The guys break down what those answers really mean, why a “Godfather offer” might be the only path up the board, and how valuable New York's draft stockpile truly is. Plus, wild trade scenarios enter the chat, including a hypothetical Kyler Murray deal and whether that would actually make the Jets contenders or just more entertaining. Is the smart move patience for a loaded future QB class, or going all-in right now? This segment dives deep into the strategy, risk, and desperation surrounding Gang Green's quarterback hunt.

Should the New York Jets lock up Breece Hall at all costs? With franchise and transition tag numbers looming, the debate heats up over whether Gang Green should secure their young star running back long-term or risk letting the market decide. Evan and Tiki break down why Hall is more than just a running back. He is a foundational piece for whoever lines up at quarterback next season. They compare Hall to Kenneth Walker, analyze usage, injuries, production, and market value, and debate whether the Jets can afford to lose a true workhorse. Plus, what would a fair deal actually look like? Is a four-year, $50 million contract the sweet spot, or will the open market push the price higher? And how much does Walker's recent Super Bowl heroics complicate things? If you are building a roster around a new QB, this conversation reveals why the backfield decision could define the entire Jets offseason.

The guys dive into why “more quarterbacks in the draft” is actually good news for the Jets, even when names like Dante Moore and Trinidad Chambliss choosing to return to school feel like a gut punch. From there, the conversation turns into a full-blown debate about what the Jets should do at quarterback, with calls ranging from “swing big” trade ideas to realistic veteran targets. Evan also announces a new Jets QB “big board” reveal coming next week, because of course he does. Plus: Joe Judge's strange comments making the rounds, the show tees up a new weekly “worst take” segment for WFAN, and Tom Brady catches heat for taking an unnecessary swipe at Jets fans while narrating AMC's 49ers documentary. The segment closes on a heavier note with reaction to the Steve Tisch and Jeffrey Epstein document disclosures, what the Giants should do next, and why fans are furious even without any new allegations of criminal conduct being made in the reporting.

With the internet officially in “pump out a million mocks a day” mode, it seems a pair of players consistently land with the Jets.  We scrolled though about a dozen mock drafts from prominent outlets and each and every time, the Jets spent the second pick on Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese or Miami defensive lineman Rueben Bain.  Both would fill an immediate need for Gang Green, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few other options that shouldn’t be ruled out. S Caleb Downs, Ohio State:  The Jets have two noteworthy problems on defense that must be addressed.  The first problem is that they can’t stop the run.  Of greater importance in today’s game, they also can’t stop the pass.  Not the ideal situation.  So how many players in this class can legitimately do both at a consistently high level?  By our estimates, there is one.  Caleb Downs. Rarely get as pumped about a safety prospect as I am about Caleb Downs. Should be one of the top defenders in the country and a lock to go in the first round. pic.twitter.com/KoyUL2ypOu — Glenn Naughton (@JetsPicks) June 15, 2025 The OSU safety may have been the best defensive player in the country, but because that designation is usually reserved for the nation’s sack or interception leader, some have slept on Downs’ ability because he’s used in such a variety of roles that he’s not able to dominate in just one area. But turn on the film and you’ll see an absolute monster coming downhill against the run and a defensive back in coverage who is quick to read the quarterback and make plays in coverage as he logged twelve passes defended and six interceptions over the course of his career.  Always relying on having a play-making safety on the back end, Aaron Glenn may call on Darren Mougey to grab the best one in the country. RB Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame: If we were to get a look at Aaron Glenn’s post game press conference notes, would anyone be surprised if we were to see, written in capital letters at the top, “TELL THEM ABOUT DETRIOT TURNAROUND”?  The Jets couldn’t lose a game in 2025 without the head coach racing to the podium to tell everyone about how things went from abysmal to dominant in Detroit.  A big part of how the did that?  By using an early first round pick on running back Jahmyr Gibbs. Now, that wasn’t quite as early as pick 2, as Gibbs went twelfth overall, but his impact was immeasurable.  The explosive back allowed Detroit to have one of the best quick-strike units in the NFL.  With Breece Hall’s contract status up in the air, Love shouldn’t be ruled out.  In fact, the Jets would probably prefer trading down just a bit, but staying in range to add the best back in the country. WR Carnell Tate, Ohio State: The Jets need to add some help at wide receiver to compliment Garrett Wilson and his fellow OSU alumni could provide just that.  The 6′ 2” 195 Tate is viewed by many as the top receiver in the class.  Coming off of a monster year in which he averaged over 17 yards per catch and nine touchdowns.  Tate does an outstanding job of tracking the football and beating press coverage.  His movement skill allow him to create separation but when passes are contested, he can win in tight coverage as well.  There aren’t many folks mocking him to the Jets at 2, but it would be hard to blame them if they went that route. The post Three “Outside the box” Options for Jets With Second Pick appeared first on JetNation.com - New York Jets Blog & Forum.

Jets fans can talk all they want about how great it would be for Gang Green to pursue former Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, but it will all fall on deaf ears.  Woody Johnson looks to be 100% committed to making things work with Aaron Glenn, while Harbaugh could land in the division with the Dolphins, or a a co-tenant with the Giants. https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/69346812/download.mp3 Passing on Harbaugh will give Jets fans one more reason to be frustrated with the franchise, so what better time to sit down with Jets fan Joe Nelson.  Joe’s video in which he reads his ad-libbed version of Jets history to his newborn son was a huge hit on line, racking up over a million views.

The New York Jets saved the worst for last in what will go down as one of the most forgettable seasons in team history.  Gang Green got their doors blown off by the Buffalo Bills backups in a 35-8 loss. https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/69301958/download.mp3 The Jets had no answer for Mitch Trubisky, Ray Davis and Ty Johnson as they ran roughshod over a Jets defense that became the first in NFL history to go a full season without a single interception.  Pair that with the team being the first since the 1970’s to lose by at least 23 points five times in a row and Aaron Glenn’s club put together one heck of a year. The good news however, is that the Giants won their game earlier in the day, meaning the Jets jump up to second in the NFL draft which means if Oregon’s Dante Moore declares, the Jets can land a quarterback without having to give up a bounty of picks to move up. Glenn put the failed season on himself after the game, saying it’s “on me” in coming up short of any and al goals the team had before the season.  The head coach said he’s looking forward to meeting with owner Woody Johnson, who he has “a lot of confidence” in, along with Darren Mougey, to right the ship. Given their current situation, you could argue that the Titanic, in its current state, is in better shape than the Jets.  They don’t have a quarterback, they don’t know if they have a coach, the running back’s future is up in the air, and only one wide receiver has proven himself to be an impact player.  And let’s not get started on the defense that couldn’t, to quote Bart Scott…stop a nose bleed. It’s going to be a long offseason, Jets fans. The post Jets Blown out by Buffalo Backups in 35-8 Loss appeared first on JetNation.com - New York Jets Blog & Forum.

For those Jets fans rooting for draft position above all, today was a good day.  Anyone hoping to see improvement from rookie quarterback Brady Cook in his second pro start however, will be less enthusiastic. https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/69160346/download.mp3 Following a relief appearance and a start last week in which Cook showed some signs of life in  his first NFL action, the undrafted free agent out of Missouri struggled mightily in his second effort. Now, in fairness to Cook, we saw the return of dumb Jets penalties as Gang Green committed one infraction after another, repeatedly costing the offense first downs or at least moved them from short yardage situations to much longer distances needed to convert. The Jets committed 7 penalties for 54 yards with five of them counting for 44 yards on offense.  John Simpson was flagged for the 10th and 11th times this season with his first flag wiping out a third-down conversion on a 3rd & 1 Brady Cook sneak.  But this doesn’t mean Cook was without blame. Several times we saw a hesitant Cook hold on to the football for too long and take a sack.  There were also several plays in which Cook tried to get away from pressure and ran himself right into a defender. On the day, New Orleans got to the rookie eight times, bringing his total to seventeen sacks in just three games. Asked after the game if he thought about going to veteran Tyrod Taylor in the second half, head coach Aaron Glenn said that he did not, as the Jets continue trying to evaluate the signal caller ahead of  next season. Things weren’t much better on defense where the Jets surrendered 29 points to a Saints team that had no running game to account for.  Rookie quarterback Tyler Shough dropped back to pass fifty times and got off 49 attempts for 308 yards.  For the second week in a row, the folks at PFF had linebacker Quincy Williams down for allowing three touchdowns, bringing his total on the year to eight. There were some bright spots in that Jamien Sherwood played what may have been his best game of the year under new coordinator Chris Harris, while Jowon Briggs, Malachi Moore, Dean Clark, Jordan Clark and Will McDonald flashed at times.  In fact, Ross Tucker who was calling the game for CBS, was effusive in his praise for Sherwood early on, and then for McDonald as he dialed it up a few notches in the second half. The post Jets at Fourth Spot in Draft Following Nola Drubbing appeared first on JetNation.com - New York Jets Blog & Forum.
