Earlier this year, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed Universal ESA's into law within the state.  Arizona, already a school choice leader, was suddenly propelled into the national spotlight, adding ESA's for every Arizona student to the already thriving state tuition tax credit system. When Ducey signed the law, he had Pastor Drew Anderson on hand to commemorate the moment for the media that had gathered to report the occasion.  Pastor Anderson did not mince words:  School choice is the defining civil rights issue of our generation.  Further, he reiterated, Arizona's Universal ESA moment was the greatest civil rights moment in the United States since the founding of our country. As shocking as a statement like that may be, there was another shocker in play:  Pastor Drew Anderson is a registered and politically active Democrat.  Why is that shocking?  In Anderson's view, school choice has largely been the domain of Republican white guys and, as a result, unless the political left wakes up to the educational perils plaguing this generation, we are going to miss out on a historical moment. So, how did Pastor Anderson buck the Democratic trends?  Why is school choice a civil rights issue?  Today we find out!For more information on Pastor Drew Anderson and his ministry, please click here.To read the Arizona Daily Independent op-ed pieced penned by Anderson, please follow this link.To watch the moment in which Anderson, a Democrat, was recognized, commended, and celebrated before the Arizona Senate by Arizona Republicans, please click here."Kingdom Culture Conversations" is a podcast created through Frameworks, a Biblical worldview initiative of Northwest Christian School. For more information on Frameworks, please visit:  https://frameworks.ncsaz.org/For more information on Northwest Christian School, visit:  https://www.ncsaz.org/To reach out to Geoff Brown, please email gbrown@ncsaz.org or you can reach him by cell phone:  (623)225-5573.

Tarlin and Mike are back to talk about their guilty pleasure, the NFL, in light of the concussion(s) to Tua Tagovailoa in recent games--within four days from Sunday to Thursday night. We explore Tua's extensive injury history and find parallels in other players like Austin Collie who also displayed the "fencing position" after a concussion and who never returned to the same level afterwards. We also reflect on the NFL's tendency to be reactive to situations like this and anticipate changes to the NFL concussion protocols in light of the Tua incident. Are they exhibiting "an abundance of caution" or are they ultimately driven by their bottom line? How did Coach Mike McDaniel, the Players Association, and the NFL respond and what lessons can we learn from there? And what do we think about the future of Thursday night games? We cover all of this and reflect on the joys of a good night's sleep. Don't miss it! Subscribe to Running It Back wherever you get your podcasts. The sports stove has a few things percolating as we're into a new month. I'll serve up a high dosage of what you need as the latest episode has arrived. On deck: (4:30) Coming off of an epic MLB trade deadline, I'll dissect the blockbuster trade by San Diego bringing in Juan Soto to their ballclub. Could the Padres possibly have three players worth over a BILLION dollars in contracts at the same time? What about the Yankees and how they've added to their roster? Also, what could plague them come October? The Dodgers weren't big time players in making transactions to solidify a couple of key spots on their team. I'll break down what some of the other playoff contenders have done, go through both leagues wild card scenarios, a division battle set this weekend between the Braves & Mets. A tribute to a broadcasting legend, Vin Scully. And thoughts on the last two episodes of The Captain, the ESPN documentary on Derek Jeter, that you may find intriguing. (39:47) Deshaun Watson's suspension has finally come down to where an arbiter handed down six games for him to sit out at the start of the 2022 season. Thing is, the NFL has appealed that the suspension should be harsher. The Players Association was hoping that the league would've stood pat. Will this be a fight to the bitter end? How much will Watson get when it's all said and done? The Miami Dolphins were docked a first round draft pick next year, fined and their owner, Stephen Ross, was suspended for tampering violations against Tom Brady and former Saints coach, Sean Payton. Was this penalty warranted? (48:15) In an interview this week, Greg Norman shouted out Tiger Woods as he allegedly passed up $700-$800 million from the LIV Golf Tour. Is Tiger in the wrong for not jumping to where the money is? Speaking of LIV, Phil Mickelson, among nine other golfers. are filing an antitrust lawsuit against the PGA so they can play in the upcoming FedEx Cup Playoffs. How will the PGA handle this now and moving forward? Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land's I-70 podcast. On this show we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference's games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan. After a spirit discussion around if the show should be called I-80 Football Show, we get into Penn State starting quarterback Sean Clifford hoping to lead the charge of a new college football players association with Penn State at the forefront. Clifford and the association have begun talks with the Big Ten regarding health insurance for sports related injuries post career, a representative on each campus to support students and advocate especially around medical conversations and revenue sharing from the media rights deal. The guys discuss what a player's association could look like as well as if the players should unionize. Plus, they get into how revenue sharing could work, is it fair if only football players get paid? What would it look like for all athletes to benefit from revenue sharing? After a brief conversation about the future of the XFL and USFL the guys finish the Big Ten schedule preview. It is time for the Big Ten to change the scheduling model because it is rough! The best games in the last few weeks revolve around Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue, and Wisconsin. After a remarkably close race in 2021 the fight to win the Big Ten West should be exciting as the champion will be decided in the last few weeks. In their weekly pitstops, Jordan is in search of a support group since he plans to buy Madden 23. He cannot stop himself from buying it every year despite the fact it hardly changes and usually gets worse. Dante is anti-pre ordering video games. After multiple video games have come out unfinished Dante thinks it is a waste to pre-order video games especially when they have not released game play. In today's episode, I am very humbled and delighted to interview someone whom I both admire and respect, Susan Bradley. Susan led me to a very specific training she created called the Certified Financial Transitionist® (CeFT®).  As I have mentioned in a previous podcast, I was searching for a training that would complete my personal and professional experience.  Susan's training has provided me with scientific theory behind life transitions and in my case, grief. Through Susan's training  I have completed the trifecta of personal experience, professional experience honed with scientific theory to garner tools to help clients with the personal side of money.     Susan is the founder of the Sudden Money® Institute (www.suddenmoney.com), which began almost 22 years ago as a community of practice seeking to better serve their financial planning clients by developing process and tools for the personal side of money and for clients going through transitions. This think tank created the Certified Financial Transitionist® (CeFT®) designation, and a division for training and certification called the Financial Transitionist® Institute. Susan has served on the FPA's National Board of Directors, currently sits on the National Football League's Players Association's Financial Education Advisory Board and serves as the Dean of Transitions for the Council of Deans of the Purposeful Planning Institute. She is seen and heard frequently in the national media, including NBC's Nightly News, CNN, NPR, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. She is the author of Sudden Money: Managing a Financial Windfall (Wiley 2000), and her TEDx Wilmington Women talk is called, “Change launches you into the next great chapter of your life, whether you like it or not.” It can be found here.If you like this episode, please subscribe to be the first to be notified of any upcoming episodes.
