Evan believes Wednesday Night's game at Citi Field is the most important game the Mets have played all year
Imagine this. You get the call that you're headed up for your MLB debut. Even better, your first start is at home against the Yankees. You step onto the mound and strike out the first two batters. Aaron Judge steps to the plate, he goes down swinging. The next inning you repeat the same process, striking out three of the next four batters. Well, this was reality for the Reds' Chase Burns on Tuesday. The second overall pick in the 2024 draft is the only pitcher in the last 50 years to strike out the first five batters faced in an MLB debut. Jake and Jordan break down Burns' dazzling debut. The Atlanta Braves have taken the first two games in their series against the New York Mets this week. The guys discuss the Braves' recent success over the Mets and the momentum they have going right now. They also dive into the Mets' recent struggles. Losers of 10 of their last 11, the Mets still sit only 1.5 GB in the NL East. Is it time to panic yet at Citi Field? The former Oakland A's, who are currently in Sacramento, broke ground in Las Vegas yesterday. The drawn-out move to Las Vegas took a crucial step, on Tuesday, with the team announcing that the new stadium will be ready by Opening Day 2028. Team owner, John Fisher, and MLB Commissioner, Rob Manfred, spoke at the ceremony. Jake and Jordan discuss the continuance of the A's to Vegas saga as they dive into what was said and what this move to Vegas might mean for the A's and MLB.The All-Star Game is just around the corner, and the first voting period is almost complete. The guys explain how the confusing voting system works and talk about the closest races for some of the All-Star spots. All of this and more on this mid-week edition of Baseball Bar-B-Cast.(1:22) - Chase Burns(8:45) - Braves-Mets(31:46) - A's stadium breaks ground(45:25) - All-Star voting update Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

First up, the guys go through the team's problems, including shaky starting pitching, lack of DH production, the revolving door at third base, the center field issue, and inconsistent scoring overall. Later, Connor and Joe cover the Farm in all directions, including those moving down – Francisco Alvarez and Luisangel Acuna – and those moving up – Jacob Reimer, Carson Benge, and Colin Houck. The show then wraps up by giving away Mets Pod hats, and checking the Mailbag for questions answered about the current roster and the possibility of trading for Eugenio Suarez. Ronald “let it fly” around first, then hit the euro-step on his way to third, and the boos from the crowd were the loudest that they were all night. We have no idea how the 2025 Braves will finish, but what we do know is that Ronald Acuña Jr is on another historic pace of a season after missing the first six weeks while rehabbing his second knee surgery, and he absolutely loves playing at Citi Field, as did Braves Hall of Famer Chipper Jones. In fact, Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young loves taking it to the New York crowd too, and they hate him for it. Andy Bunker and Abe Gordon talk about Acuña Jr's historic pacing season, and where the Braves head from here.
(SHOW OPEN); Keith voices his displeasure about the Yankees 6-1 loss to the Reds and the Mets 3-2 loss to the Braves at CitiField.
Ahead of David Wright's jersey retirement at Citi Field, his father Rhon Wright and Keith Miller — longtime agent and former Met — join the show to reflect on the Captain's career, character, and the moments that made him a Mets icon. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Season 8 Episode 10 of The Put it in the Books Show is here, and the Mets are… still tied for first place with the Filthies of Filthadelphia. We don't know how either. Farace is out tonight doing what he does best: parenting like a boss at his son's championship game. Producer Joe is sweating through his jersey in 100-degree heat at Universal Studios. That leaves Rodriguez and Keith to piece together the current state of the Mets — and it's not pretty. After being swept at home by the Rays and then punked in Atlanta, the Mets have now lost six straight and the wheels are looking a little wobbly. That once-dominant pitching staff has gone from nails to "nail-biting." The lineup continues to sputter with runners in scoring position, and the offense has no rhythm. But hey, all-star voting is underway! Lindor and Pete are locks — but does anyone else deserve a nod?Now comes the test. Three massive games in Filthadelphia, followed by a four-game revenge series against the Braves at Citi Field. Can the Mets bounce back and bury their division rivals? Or are we heading for panic mode?Tune in as Rodriguez and Keith break it all down, roast a few bats, try to stay optimistic, and take you through the week that was in Mets Land. It's The Put it in the Books Show — sometimes therapy, always Mets. #Mets #PiitB #PutItInTheBooks

Attending a New York Mets game at Citi Field is a phenomenal experience for locals and tourists alike. With its proximity to some excellent Asian food in Flushing, cheap ticket prices (generally), and a fun atmosphere, it's an activity we highly recommend!Brief History of Citi Field and the MetsFounded in 1962, they're based in Queens, New York, and have won two World Series championships (1969 and 1986). The team colors are blue and orange.Citi Field has been the Mets' home stadium since 2009, replacing the iconic Shea Stadium. Located in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens, the ballpark was designed as a tribute to Brooklyn's old Ebbets Field, featuring classic brick architecture. The stadium has a capacity of about 41,900 and is known for its distinctive exterior rotunda, excellent sight lines, and the Home Run Apple that rises when a Met hits a home run. It's genuinely a beautiful stadium that feels both updated and modern, yet retains its charm. I love watching planes take off and land at nearby LaGuardia Airport as the game progresses.Best Seats at Citi FieldThere are NO bad seats at Citi Field. We often scour various ticket sites for last-minute cheap tickets, then float around the stadium throughout the game.We often have the best luck on ticket prices on Vivid Seats (plus you earn rewards for free tickets).Where to Eat/Drink Before a Mets GameThere is little to nothing right next to Citi Field, so most people either eat or drink wherever they're coming from, or go to Flushing or Corona.Corona is known for Latin food, Flushing (Main St. stop on the 7) is one of the best spots in the world for Asian, and specifically Chinese food (besides China, of course).Spots in Flushing (one stop on the subway or a 20-minute walk):Nan Xiang Soup DumplingsFood court in the basement of the New World MallPeking Duck Sandwich StallChung Moo, try the homemade kimchiWhite BearThis Episode's You'll Have to Check It Out Segment - White BearCash-only and very little seating (maybe none at all post-COVID.. The Put it in the Books Show S8 E9: Mets Rolling, Senga Hamstrung, Citi Rockin', Rays Up NextIt's Season 8, Episode 9 of The Put it in the Books Show and all four hosts are in the house tonight — Farace, Rodriguez, Keith, and Producer Joe behind the wall, ready to break down another wild week of Mets baseball.First, the big news: Kodai Senga is headed to the 15-day IL after straining his hamstring covering first base in the finale against the Nationals. The fellas will dive into what this means for the Mets' elite pitching staff, which has carried the team through the first two and a half months of the season. How long will Senga be out? And who will step up in the meantime?Even with the bad injury news, the Mets are on fire. They just swept the Rockies in Colorado, swept the Nationals at Citi Field, and have now won six straight and seven of eight. The record stands at 45-24, good for a 5.5-game lead over the Phillies in the East, and a ridiculous 27-7 mark at home — where Citi Field is packed and rocking on a nightly basis. And it's not just pitching. The offense is sizzling, with the big four of Lindor, Nimmo, Soto, and Alonso all locked in at the plate. The team is doing what great teams do — beating the bad teams, competing with the good ones, and keeping the wins rolling in. We'll ask: do Mets fans really understand what they're watching this year, or are we all still too scarred by past seasons to fully enjoy it?Also up for discussion — the dugout vibes are off the charts, with Steve Gelbs practically a full-fledged member of the team now with all the postgame celebration fun. If you can't have fun when you're winning like this, when can you?Up next: three with the Rays at Citi Field. But then comes a road trip with some serious swag potential — the Mets head to Atlanta and Philadelphia with a chance to flat-out bury both the Braves and Phillies in the standings if they keep playing like this. You want to make a statement in June? Go into those ballparks and stomp on your division rivals. The guys will break it all down, talk about what the Mets need to do to keep the momentum rolling, and whether this team is truly built for the long haul.Expect Rodriguez to question the bullpen plan, Producer Joe to already be scouting deadline targets, Keith to rattle off five advanced stats none of us asked for, and Farace to remind everyone this is what elite baseball looks like.Let's put it in the books. #PiitB #Mets

Farace is out tonight scouting the next generation of CitiField greatness as his son's Angels face off against the Mets in a makeup of last week's washed-out championship. Meanwhile, Rodriguez, Keith, and Producer Joe (behind the wall and definitely not checking TikTok mid-show) are holding it down for another edition of *The Put it in the Books Show*.The Mets are 34-22, just finished a tidy 4-2 homestand after series wins over the Dodgers and the “please-relegate-them” White Sox, but somehow the mood in Metsland still feels like they're 22-34. Why? Maybe it's the team hitting like they're allergic to runners in scoring position.Still, this squad just keeps winning – with lights-out pitching and timely defense doing the heavy lifting while the bats slowly wake up. With some injured arms eyeing returns soon, the guys will debate who gets bumped and whether a six-man rotation might be on the table.Plus: the case for team captain—Lindor, who checks in with every player after each series like he's taking roll call, Nimmo and his endless energy, or Big Pete and his polar bear presence? You be the judge. And yes, there *might* be some Juan Soto talk… again.Next up: the Mets wrap their homestand with the Rockies before heading west for another seven-game grind against the Dodgers and Rockies. Join us tonight as the crew breaks it all down—with stats, sarcasm, and possibly a few off-the-rails tangents.Let's put it in the books. #Mets #PiitB

Tonight's Knicks-Pacers Game 4 is being hyped as another "biggest game in 25 years." A caller who caught Boomer's football from Friday weighed in, and questions arose about how "furries" got into Citi Field. Jerry's update covered the Knicks-Pacers preview and the Thunder's 3-1 series lead over the T-Wolves. The Yankees beat the Angels again, with Anthony Volpe hitting a 3-run double, as heard on Dave Sims's call. Jerry also shared audio from an Australian radio show about short-lived marriages. The Mets secured their third straight win. A caller even wondered if Phil Simms is a fox furry. The hour concluded with talk of the "Kickoff To Summer" with Chris Lane and more anticipation for the Knicks game.
Every game is the ‘biggest game the Knicks have played in 25 years' and that continues tonight. We got a call from the guy who caught the football Boomer threw into the crowd on Friday. A caller wonders how the furries got into Citi Field when he was hassled years ago for having ‘RA Dickey' on his bare chest. We took calls from people who had experiences with furries.
Hour 1 The Knicks took Game 3 on Sunday, with Brunson and Hart leading the charge. They look to continue their road winning streak tonight in Indiana, where Tyrese Haliburton's dad will be in attendance. Jerry provided an update, noting Charles Barkley had counted the Knicks out when they were down 13. In baseball, the Yankees defeated the Angels, and the Mets beat the White Sox on a Francisco Lindor sac fly. Gio avoided the norovirus, unlike his daughter, and Stephen Waldron is out due to an appendectomy. Finally, Pablo Torre rented the Airbnb where the Bill Belichick Ring camera footage was taken. Hour 2 Tonight is Game 4 for the Knicks and Pacers and calls came in about people surprisingly wanting the Knicks coach fired, despite their run to the Eastern Conference Finals. Jerry provided an update with OG Anunoby on the Knicks' Game 3 win, and Kevin Harlan's funny "I'm wet, I'm dirty" comment from Game 2. Bill Simmons had Jon Stewart on his podcast where they talked about WFAN, Mike & The Maddog, and "two bald guys." The Yankees beat the Angels thanks to an Anthony Volpe bases-clearing double, making them 13 games over .500, and the Mets won on a Francisco Lindor sac fly, with Gary Cohen on the call. There were also furries in the crowd. Finally they discussed the missing Larry Johnson 4-point ball and more about the furries. Hour 3 Tonight's Knicks-Pacers Game 4 is being hyped as another "biggest game in 25 years." A caller who caught Boomer's football from Friday weighed in, and questions arose about how "furries" got into Citi Field. Jerry's update covered the Knicks-Pacers preview and the Thunder's 3-1 series lead over the T-Wolves. The Mets secured their third straight win. A caller even wondered if Phil Simms is a fox furry. The hour concluded with talk of the "Kickoff To Summer" with Chris Lane and more anticipation for the Knicks game. Hour 4 The Jets reportedly wanted to keep the "tush push," potentially for Justin Fields. Gio's contacts found the Brett Favre documentary disappointing, and he wondered about the vanished NJ drones. The conversation then shifted to numerous calls about the Knicks-Pacers game. Jerry's final update included Coach Thibs discussing the Knicks' Sunday comeback. A young fan subtly asked Aaron Rodgers about playing for the Bears, while Joe Burrow preferred an international game over more Baltimore primetime matchups. The Yankees beat the Angels with a Volpe bases-clearing double, and the Mets won against the White Sox on a Lindor sac fly. The "Moment of The Day" involved furry talk with Eddie and Phil Simms. The show concluded with discussions about the high-rated, commercial-heavy Indy 500 and the lengthy challenge reviews in NBA playoff games.
Michael Cuddyer joins Jay Horwitz to reflect on the career of David Wright ahead of Wright's jersey retirement. From a fateful cafeteria moment in Virginia to their bond as Mets teammates, Cuddyer shares how Wright inspired his journey—and helped bring him to New York in 2015. They dive deep into the Home Run Derby at Citi Field, the 2015 postseason run, mentoring Michael Conforto, Daniel Murphy's October dominance, and the legendary Championship Belt. Plus: why Cuddyer walked away from the game and how he stays involved in baseball today. An emotional, honest, and often hilarious look back at a pivotal friendship in Mets history.

Season 8, Episode 6 is here, and while Farace is off the grid watching his son's championship game—Angels vs. Mets, because of course that's the matchup—Rodriguez, Keith, and Producer Joe are stepping up to the mic. Well, Joe's technically behind the wall, but we'll pretend he's contributing more than just echoing Keith's stats. The Mets snapped a three-game losing streak last night with a solid win over the Red Sox, thanks to Brett Baty finally waking up at the plate and Tylor Megill looking like a guy who wants to stay in this rotation permanently. The Mets now sit at 29-19 and are still holding strong near the top of the division, despite the recent hiccups. It might be time to officially say it: the Mets have five pretty good starters. This rotation has been the unexpected rock of the team, which is saying something when your offense and defense have been running on vibes and hope against teams like the Yankees and Red Sox.Starling Marte was bumped up to the two-hole yesterday, which sounds good on paper… until you watch him take three pitches nowhere near the zone and walk back to the dugout like he forgot what a bat is for. The fellas will discuss how long that experiment should last—though with Keith's patience, he's probably ready to send Marte to the seventh spot already.Luisangel Acuña continues to try to make his case in the bigs, while in the minors, names like Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat are lurking—just waiting for someone to slip up. The competition is real, and with Rodriguez scouting the Syracuse box scores daily, expect a strong opinion or seven.Francisco Alvarez has returned and is now splitting duties with Luis Torrens, which gives us all the opportunity to watch Mets Twitter melt down every other night depending on who's behind the plate. But hey, if the pitchers keep throwing gems, maybe the platoon is working—though don't expect Producer Joe to commit to a side. He's still emotionally recovering from Tomas Nido. And then there's Juan Soto. A little jog here, a few boos in the Bronx there, and suddenly the guy's a lightning rod. Is it overblown, or is this just the beginning of Mets fans getting real acquainted with the “Soto Experience”? We'll break it down with the usual amount of sarcasm, overreaction, and probably a conspiracy theory from Rodriguez.Coming up next: nine straight at Citi Field—three against the Dodgers, three against the White Sox, and three more against the Rockies. If there was ever a stretch to gain some momentum, this is it... unless Producer Joe jinxes it by calling for a sweep again.Join us tonight as we talk Mets, roast each other, and try to convince ourselves that a quiet week in Flushing is a real thing. Let's put it in the books.
Episode 498: Revenge, redemption, and payback. This week Luis Barraza met his former team and played one his best games of his career to hold NYCFC scoreless in DC and then the Boys In Blue got some payback of their own with a demonstrative victory over Red Bull at Citifield. Questions still remain about this … Continue reading The Payback / Ep 498 / Blue City Radio →

The Put it in the Books crew is back for Season 8, Episode 5, and the Mets are 28-16, sitting atop the NL East with a sparkling 17-5 record at home. Farace, Rodriguez, and Keith are in the lineup tonight, and Producer Joe is a game-time decision—though there's a good chance he's behind the wall, lost in a sea of Citi Field concession options or pretending to scout bullpen arms from his couch. This week, the guys break down a Mets team that's built what might quietly be the best pitching staff in baseball. The rotation is shoving, the bullpen has been solid, and the Mets currently lead the league in ERA. Not bad for a staff many thought would need duct tape and prayers to get through May.Meanwhile, the offense is showing signs of stability, and the young guys are pushing the veterans. Are we watching a new era start to take shape? And more importantly, did the Mets actually hit the jackpot with Carlos Mendoza? In just his second year, he's got this team playing focused, consistent baseball—and maybe, just maybe, we've finally found a manager who knows when not to over-manage.As the season grinds on, the crew looks at whether the Mets should consider a six-man rotation to keep things fresh. With guys like Senga already off to a strong start, could spreading out the workload be the key to sustaining success deep into the summer? The upcoming schedule isn't exactly a walk in the park. After going 4-2 on the homestand against the Cubs and Pirates, the Mets now enter a tough stretch with series against the Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers. That means all eyes will be on the Bronx this week, where Juan Soto returns to Yankee Stadium—but this time, he's wearing blue and orange, and it's going to be loud. Probably not in his favor. And yes, we'll close the show with a quick reality check on the latest round of clickbait: the so-called Pete Alonso trade rumors. Because clearly, the best time to trade your franchise slugger is while you're in first place and playing your best baseball in years.Join us for all that, plus sarcasm, chaos, and whatever stat Keith has printed out this week that no one else asked for. Let's put it in the books!
