    In this episode we have an amazing group of people training to be teachers!! They were with us at Stonefields School on their first practicum and it has been so great to get their reflections on the ups and downs of their journey so far!This session is very relatable to those at the start of their teaching career but also for those who are long timers in the teaching profession who may want to hear about those starting off.     In this episode we have the amazing Rose Hipkins who is a Chief Researcher for Education in New Zealand Rose is just a wealth of knowledge and she has been working with us on what is critical to know and learn for the future. She has authored some really great reads such as ‘Weaving a Coherent Curriculum’’ which I have added a link to on the website along with other readings and some of my takeaways to give you an overview. In this session we empathise with the struggles of living in a world where the future of education is unknown and most importantly get excited about what possibilities this is opening up!  In the beginning we mention data and just wanted to clarify the terms as it is really important I feel for parents and teachers to know about. We talk about quantitative data which a lot of us know about and it is easily counted for example testing and statistics. And qualitative data which is not so easy to measure it is things like student voice and expression. Enjoy!

The main message that I have taken away from this episode is for us to understand and not judge. Attempt to read more, research, speak to others and continue to learn about people on an individual level so we can empower ourselves to empower themselves.

    In this episode we have the fantastic Mark Treadwell who is an author, a consultant and a passionate provocateur of transforming education systems  to name but a few things.Mark has been involved with creating conceptual curriculums and challenging the way we view educational norms. He has presented to over 300 national and international conferences over the past 10 years. Mark has written a number of documents that give us steps to work towards in this second education paradigm shift. One of these he talks about in this session called The Future of Learning which is one of the first books I read when I came to New Zealand and it really helped me process the changes that are happening now and are going to happen in the very near future!

    In this episode we have the amazing Barbara Oakley who is an educator, a writer and an engineer to name but a few things.Barbara has had an action packed life, which includes being a Professor of Engineering as well as rising from the ranks of Private to Captain in the U.S. Army and serving as a Russian translator. Barbara created a course with Terrence Sejnowski called Learning How to Learn which you may have heard of. Over 2 million people have taken this course and Barbara shares more about it in this session and making links to how we can support our children and learners with their learning.
