This was a beautiful conversation. Indira Kennedy, Founder & Director of Conscious Leadership, and I re-visit each of her 8 Elements and summarize how these practices can truly lead to clarity. The 8 Elements have been developed through insight and deep consideration to unlock Personal Power through Self-Reliance, Self-Trust and Self-Acceptance. Each practice on its own or collectively can serve as a daily ritual and come to our aid when we encounter a challenge, opportunity or dilemma. As we bring the weekly series to a close, we hope that the 8 Elements lead you to a Still Mind, Wise Heart. Bring the best of you forward. Know you to be you! Indira Kennedy, Founder & Director of Conscious Leadership, culminates her 8 Elements for Self Mastery through a beautiful conversation on Meditation. Meditation is a daily dose of Love. Meditation is for everyone (guided and non-guided) and enables us to develop self-reliance, self-trust and self-acceptance by creating life from the inside out. You focus on the present and release mental and spiritual blocks that heal the physical. Indira and I discuss several tips to get started into meditation (environment, duration, time of day, etc.), as well as several reasons why some are reluctant to start meditating. Next week, we will bring the 8 Elements together and reflect on the journey towards a Still Mind, Wise Heart. Know you to be you! Indira Kennedy shares her 8 Elements for Self Mastery and conducts a 'live' practice of Attunement. Think of it like finding the right frequency on a radio. Once the signal is clear, you find harmony amongst your emotion, instinct and energy. The practice will raise your vibration to a higher level - the result is powerful - you will supercharge your Spiritual Warrior! You will be able to respond with appropriate language and behaviors based on your or another person's emotional state. According to Indira, Founder & Director of Conscious Leadership, Attunement builds upon the 8 Elements that we have discussed. Indira guides us through an Attunement practice. I invite you to practice it at 30:58 into the podcast or 29:45 into the YouTube video. We are white belts and with practice, we can become black belts. The world around us will benefit from your clarity and harmony regardless of external forces. You will get out of your own way. Next week Element (8): Meditation. Know you to be you! Our series with Indira Kennedy and the 8 Elements for Self Mastery continues by aligning heart and mind with the right attention through Journaling. The symbol of Heart and Hand joined in purposeful action is a powerful one. According to Indira, Founder and Director of Conscious Leadership, the practice of Journaling is a way to catch inspirations, contemplate change and understandings about life. Among so many benefits that you will discover for yourself, you have a record of your way to measure your progress. This practice goes beyond a written or typed 'Dear Diary' moment. How you journal is up to you, but Indira shares how you can be more effective. Indira shares her process Pick your time of day - morning, afternoon or evening. Grab pen and paper (you learn and retain better through writing instead of typing)Take a few deep breaths and simply write or draw your 'thoughts'Reflect, process, and learn. As you write, you will clean your slate, bring hindsights into insights to greater foresights and build self trust. The book you carry under your arm will become your wisest teacher. Our weekly series with Indira Kennedy and her 8 Elements for Self Mastery continues as we delve into deeper thought with Contemplation. Would you rather have a way of exploring your thoughts in ways that actually lead you out of the maze of possibilities and straight to the richest answers? The process is simple, the practice is mastered over time! According to Indira, Founder and Director of Conscious Leadership, the practice of contemplation is key to leadership. It starts with thinking and then goes beyond it. Contemplation uses the skills of Mindfulness to ask for deeper answers beyond the rational brain by going into the Knowledge of the Heart. This Knowledge is pure wisdom.Indira shares and encourages a simple process to bring this to life: Think of your dilemma and spending time WRITING out all the details - what is the real dilemma?Create a question that will help you crystallize the answer to your dilemma - go deeper and beyond. Sit quietly and be STILL. BREATHE. WRITE down what comes to mind.Repeat steps 2-4 at least 3 times - you may receive a different answer. The answer from your heart is usually the truth. See what the answer means to you and how you apply it to your original dilemma - journal and decide what action you will take.It may sound simple - it will become so. Practice this over time, ensure you set aside quality time to do it and as you improve, you will be ready to link it to the other Elements in moments of calm or storm.Know you to be you!Next week Element (6): Journaling - Hand and Heart align when we pay the right attention!Visit the Live Breathe Believe on Instagram (@Live_Breathe_Believe) and view YouTube, Podcast Player and full content at https://linktr.ee/LivebreathebelieveVisit Indira at https://www.consciousleader.com.auPlease share with us your thoughts, ideas and questions. #knowyoutobeyou #coaching #leadership #success #leadershipdevelopment #motivation #growthmindset #change

Do you ever feel an imbalance when you are treated to a meal? Do you feel that you need to repay 'debts' when you come into money? These relationships with others & money can be a sign of something that we may not have given much thought to. Fred, a friend and professional coach based in Europe, and I explore these topics through personal experiences. Money can create an unexpected hierarchy, power dynamic and imbalance that can eat away at us when we least suspect. We identified that through more effective communication, clearer intentions and a clear balance amongst money, power and ego, we can understand how our relationships with money can affect ourselves and others at a deeper level. Fred, a friend and professional coach based in Europe, explores these topics with me through personal examples and experiences. Have you recently apologized or has someone apologized to you? Of course - it is in our daily vocab! An apology is courteous expression - to friends, family, colleagues and even strangers. When I was growing up, I used to say "I'm sorry" for being mischievous (we all did!), until I was 'gently' reminded that when you say 'sorry,' you are committing to not repeat that act. Say what? I'm joined by Fred Samanta, a friend and professional coach, where we dissect apologies through personal experiences through several steps to understand the merits and intentions of this form of resolution. The insights to our standard approach to resolving a situation might reveal more about you and your partner than we realize. The real power lies in communication and mutual reflection. Fake it till you make it - say what? This can be an uneasy topic until you pull back the layers and delve into what this can mean to you. I'm not encouraging you to be an imposter. The key lies in your motivation and intentions. If your motivation is genuine and you put in the work, the process will lead you to genuine results. Else, if you're not being real and immersing yourself in it, you will get called out on your bulls**t!Fred and I explore and navigate this topic through changes in mood, careers and hobbies. We love to celebrate success, but when it comes to failure, we feel anxious and stressed. Failure can unlock insights and learnings that can enhance our experience. It requires honesty and clear expectations and goals along the way. How do we handle being comfortable being uncomfortable? From jumping into a pool for the first time or engaging in a simple conversation, discomfort can trigger anxiety and stress.I experienced this from a young age with family and friends, and it reached a new level when I entered open water during my first 70.3 triathlon event. I could not throttle my emotions. Fredrik Samanta, a coach in Zurich and a close friend, discusses this topic with me. We discuss personal examples, explore the sensations of discomfort and identify a few ways to address to embrace and overcome this 'unnerving feeling' that soon passes:Be aware - of yourself and your surroundingsBreathe - through the momentSlow - your pace and get closer to the presentReset - to reconnect with your surroundingsGrow - by reflecting & understanding (e.g. journalize) your responses in the momentKnow you to be you! As individuals, we would ensure that others do not take away from our own happiness. Why then would we allow our own self to deplete our energy levels? We have a choice to take control back rather than give control to shame & guilt that can shift us down from our ‘Set point’ - an internal baseline that we should strive to be above at all times. By practicing self-forgiveness and loving our own self, we can release ourselves from shame & guilt and unleash energy to spring us forward!I’m joined by Indira Kennedy, an expert on Conscious Leadership. We come together to explore this idea and leverage personal examples at home and work to illustrate the power of self-forgiveness by talking through the following areas:Definition of Self - the Wise voice Internal Voice - Impact of feelings of shame & guilt that drain energyPersonal example of shame and guilt Encouraging Self-Forgiveness to find balance between Self-Righteousness & Self-DepricationUnleash energy and move forward Join us and feel free to share comments or ideas

Authentic Leadership can come from within or be developed through experience at various stages of a career. But, what does Authentic Leadership mean to you? I’m joined by Fredrik Samanta to discuss our respective thoughts on “Authentic Leadership” and the forms it can take throughout our journey through life. A few questions to consider:How would you describe Authentic Leadership? At what stage of your career do you know what type of leader you are? Is the source of leadership through nature or nurture? As individuals embark on their career, their leadership qualities evolve based on their environment and experiences. Along the way, their awareness can invite humility, failures, knowledge - it is important to manage their growth and despite the pace of change around them. The “Young Guns” may bring new, disruptive ideas that are current while others in the middle or later stages of their career bring valuable experience acquired throughout their professional journey. Both groups will have the opportunity for their beliefs to be tested through crises and forge their convictions. The beauty and power is that we are always learning, delivering and serving throughout our careers - in a circular, not linear manner!Feel free to view this on youtube https://youtu.be/nRHMSswMCbE Get in touch with Fredrik at www.fredriksamanta.com or leave your comments and questions for me here. Why do we procrastinate? From studying for an exam, building a presentation, starting a run or forming new habits - we always put it off and wait until the last minute. Or as I used to call it “crunch time!” I used to think that I was more effective & efficient when I gave myself less time to complete a task. However, I never truly explored why I put off a task or an activity. I’d find something else to do or distract myself - is it because the task would make me feel anxious? Was the anxiety so unbearable that I would avoid the task? Why would I do this to myself? If you’re asking yourself these questions, you’re already further ahead than me - your curiosity and self-awareness is exactly what is needed to explore and understand the root cause of your procrastination and anxiety. Join Fredrik Samanta and I as we discuss this dynamic further. By applying the right tools, you can master and overcome the underlying cause and postpone the act of procrastination and the resolve the accompanying anxiety that follows. I love a good self-help book and we are not short of options. They improve productivity, help to form new habits and raise self awareness and leadership skills. But can we fall into the trap of reading too many of these books? I’m guilty of this: paperbacks, hardbacks and audio books. As soon as one is recommended, I feel the urge to pick it up, hoping I may learn a new tip or skill. At what point is this a status symbol on a bookshelf, soundbite in a conversation or an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and learn something new through action? Fredrik Samanta, a friend, former classmate and now coach in Zurich raises several great points - a good source of conversation and debate resulting in several insights I want to share with you. Self mastery is an incredible practice and it does not come easy. We have inner voices or critics that generate thoughts, feelings and emotions that challenge our authenticity. We become overwhelmed and at times even sabotage ourselves. As a result, we become our greatest critic. What if you could understand these thoughts, emotions and feelings and cheer for yourself - or better yet, become your greatest lover (yes, loving yourself more!). Becoming more authentic by understanding your internal advocate and loving yourself can be incredibly powerful when crisis strikes! I have the honour to be joined again by Conscious Leadership Founder and Director Indira Kennedy - a firm believer in a still mind and a wise heart. In this episode, we: 1. Revisit the Three Voices and how to recognise them 2. Discuss the role of the Wise Advocate 3. Understand thoughts, feelings and saboteurs 4. Acknowledge the wisdom of the heart 5. Learn to understand to embrace rather than control feelings and emotions by sharing reflections from personal experiences Please Feel free to learn more by reaching out to Indira and myself with your feedback. https://www.consciousleader.com.au/single-post/2020/07/24/Your-Three-Voices---who-do-you-listen-toWatch the video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/IxV8fViwQ8g
Feeling the holiday blues? I did and it was accompanied by a sense of feeling incomplete. There is an opportunity to reflect on and embrace those blues. By understanding your priorities, returning to a healthy routine that grounds you and defining certainty in light of uncertainty, you can bounce forward and sing a new upbeat tune (while planning your next holiday!).
Uncertain moments, situations, periods of our lives can lead to 'fight or flight' mode and react negatively when someone tells you, 'Everything happens for a reason." If we reflect on these moments, we can unlock insights that enable us to clear our minds and prepare us for the next time uncertainty strikes...even lead us to say, "That must have happened for a reason." I'd like to share a period in 2001 with you. Upon reflection, I learned that employment contracts are never 'secure' for a hot shot university graduate on vacation in Europe...and the period that followed allowed me to grow and lead me down a path to where I am today.

Family is everything...but “growing up” through family can take on a different meaning. Having two moms (mom and my aunt) has been a source of growth as a son and the man I seek to become. Join my journey as I invite you to understand the relationship with my moms and how asking specific questions and embracing certain truths can enable how we treat and respect the women in our lives.
Adversity can be an unpleasant or difficult situation. We may choose to take it on or powers outside our control may throw a curveball into our path. This can last a few minutes or a few years. I'd like to reflect and share with you a year in my life that tested me mentally, physically and spiritually and invite you to take your own experience with adversity, ask yourself a few questions and see how your growth can make you stronger when adversity strikes again!
Have you ever sensed a conflict between your inner and external self? My annual appraisal reminded me that a misalignment could cause a disconnect amongst your actions, thoughts and intentions. To enable personal growth, I've found it affirming to know and understand my values, as they serve as the essence of my being leading my inner and external self to be in synch. Knowing yours can become multiplier (x) effect that can lead you to exponential gains!
Eat your greens! What we put into our minds is as important as what we put into our stomachs.
A decade ago I had my dream job that slowly turned into a nightmare. I buckled under the pressure. At a young age, we have to ensure that we are kind to ourselves and take the moments to manage our own expectations and those of others to grow - the pressure will always be on and the rat race at work will be with us for a long time. Build a plan to manage your energies to succeed!
Having a strong support network is incredibly powerful. Although building this isn't an overnight exercise, the benefits in the long run are essential to strengthening your belief in yourself. Here are a few examples of how I built and grow each day with mine.
What do you do when you hit a lull and feel disconnected? A friend asked what happens when I lose motivation and fall into a daze. Join me as I reflect on this past week and rebound to get my groove back!
Teaching PE to kids during lockdown reminded me of my journey from couch potato to my recent 45 KM trail marathon. Weaving exercise and nutrition into your life can work wonders. I hope I can inspire you to do the same!
A practice I use to snap out of thoughts that drain my mental, physical and spiritual battery!
The Last Dance was incredible - MJ is the GOAT. How has MJ's words and play on the court both inspired and taught me how to understand leadership at the top and bringing people along the journey with you. Athletes have a mindset - an attitude - a physicality that takes on a meaning that is absorbed by folks and powers them up.
