I'm joined by Michelle Weger, the first guest I've ever had on the show who lives with narcolepsy, for a powerful conversation about invisible illness, fear, productivity, rest, and what it really takes to keep moving forward when your energy is limited and misunderstood. Michelle is a productivity expert, bestselling author, and international keynote speaker. Throughout our conversation you'll hear her share what daily life with narcolepsy actually looks like, how receiving her diagnosis upended the identity she thought she had, and how she rebuilt confidence and purpose one practical step at a time. We talk honestly about fear, perfectionism, procrastination, vulnerability, and why rest is not optional, especially for women in leadership. This is a conversation about doing what you can with the energy you have, letting go of shame, and redefining success on your own terms. In this episode, you'll hear: What living with narcolepsy is really like, including chronic exhaustion, disrupted sleep cycles, and why “sleepy” is very different from “tired” (3:36) How Michelle's diagnosis changed her life overnight, including losing her driver's license and the identity she thought she was building (10:08) Why fear doesn't disappear as you grow, and how learning to move through it is more important than trying to eliminate it Practical ways to work through procrastination and perfectionism (15:09) What Michelle has learned from working alongside her Great Dane service dog, Quinn, including lessons about asking for and receiving help (33:54) How to balance ambition, productivity, and energy limits, especially for women in leadership (37:32) Common misconceptions about invisible conditions like narcolepsy and why there is no one-size-fits-all experience or solution (39:35) Resources from this episode: Write Your Way Through It starts on January 21st! Feeling like food is taking up way too much brain space? You're not alone and it's more common than you think. The constant overthinking, the mental load you carry around eating, and the pressure built from years of unspoken rules is exhausting and easy to miss because it's been normalized. But that doesn't mean it's healthy, and it definitely doesn't have to stay that way. In this episode, we unpack what it really means when your thoughts are constantly circling around food, eating, and your body. We will explore how diet culture, food tracking apps, and overwhelming food rules can lead to food obsession, chronic overthinking, and a disconnect from your body's natural cues. This conversation normalizes the mental load so many women carry about food and introduces key mindset shifts rooted in intuitive eating, mindful eating, and health at every size. You'll hear how cultural messaging, past dieting patterns, and body mistrust can quietly erode self-trust and lead to patterns like emotional eating, food anxiety, and even disordered eating. You'll also learn the difference between a healthy level of food awareness and the kind that drains your energy and joy. If you've been craving more peace, less guilt, and a better relationship with food, this episode offers clarity, compassion, and a new way forward. You'll learn: What it looks like when food takes up too much brain space The connection between body image, control, and food-related stress How body trust and food freedom start with unlearning cultural messages Why overthinking food is often a symptom of larger emotional or identity struggles What a healthy relationship with food can actually feel like in daily life Let's rebrand wellness together! I welcome you to 2026 with my mantra, "2026: I choose me," inviting moms to stop abandoning themselves and to embrace their true selves. I rejected New Year's resolutions rooted in shame and ego, urging soul-led goals and specific intentions. I shared personal stories—choosing to wear a bright pink sweater and speaking up at a holiday tea—to illustrate trusting gut over conditioned fear. I encouraged dropping over-explaining, setting simple boundaries, and allowing desires without justifying them to others. I emphasized embodiment over fixing: move from head to body, breathe, take nature walks, and practice rituals that calm the nervous system so intuition can guide action. I reminded listeners that living authentically models courage for our children, helps manifest change, and attracts the right people. I offered calibration sessions to support this work and closed with reassurance: You're doing better than you think and you are exactly the mama your kids need. Learn more about your ad choices. HAPPY 2026! In the spirit of the new year, we're getting into the real science behind self-trust. Not the fluffy “just believe in yourself” kind, but what actually makes someone follow through on big goals, bold visions, and the life they say they want. If you've ever felt stuck in a loop of getting excited, setting intentions, and then ghosting your own goals… This conversation is for you. I'm breaking down how self-trust is built (and rebuilt), why motivation isn't the problem, and how identity, nervous system safety, and consistency all play a role in becoming someone who actually does the thing - especially as we head into 2026.Here's what we get into in this episode:What self-trust actually is from a neuroscience + identity perspectiveWhy breaking promises to yourself erodes confidence faster than failure ever willThe connection between nervous system regulation and following through on goalsHow to stop overplanning and start building evidence that you're someone who shows upWhy small, aligned actions matter more than big, dramatic resetsThe identity shift required to hold bigger goals without self-sabotageHow to rebuild trust with yourself after a year of burnout, inconsistency, or overwhelmThis episode is equal parts grounding and activating. It's meant to help you walk into 2026 feeling steady, self-led, and deeply anchored in your ability to create what you want. Midlife weight gain, burnout, and metabolic changes often get mislabeled as willpower issues. This episode challenges the oversimplified weight loss narrative and unpacks why many women feel blindsided by changes even when their habits stay solid. We dive deeper into this in the Broads episode with Dr. Tyna Moore. We also chat about why GLP-1 was never meant to be a vanity weight loss tool, why microdosing doesn't mean what most people think it means, and the real risks of frailty and why strength equals long-term freedom.Dr. Tyna Moore is a Licensed Naturopathic Physician and Chiropractor with over 30 years in the medical field, specializing in holistic regenerative and metabolic medicine. She earned her degrees from the National College of Natural Medicine and the University of Western States Chiropractic College. Dr. Tyna is also the host of The Dr. Tyna Show and an international speaker. What's Discussed:(08:48) How being “early” to the GLP-1 conversation led to backlash and burnout(10:49) How GLP-1 became misused and distorted by telemedicine and influencers(15:18) Why midlife weight gain isn't about willpower but a neurological shift(16:09) The idea of functional deficiency and why modern stress breaks signaling(19:15) How GLP-1 can increase motivation to move through brain plasticity(22:20) How GLP-1 can magnify existing hormonal deficiencies in women(24:11) Why movement is essential for gut health and metabolic signaling(28:01) Why microdosing is not a true weight loss strategy(35:44) Why strength training is non-negotiable for women in midlife(39:02) The real risks of frailty, hip fractures, and loss of independenceCheck out more from Broads:Website: www.broads.appInstagram: @broads.podcast @broads.appCheck out more from Tara LaFerrara:Website: www.taralaferrara.comInstagram: @taralaferraraYoutube: @TaraLaferraraTiktok: @taralaferraraCheck out more from Dr. Tyna, ND, DC:Website: www.drtyna.comInstagram: @drtynaYoutube: @drtyna
If you're curious as to whether you have any stored emotions or trauma that might be causing your illness, preventing you from achieving your goals, or even just showing up as the best, authentic version of yourself, I invite you to take my free Stored Emotions and Trauma QuizPushing through stress works… until it doesn't.Chronic stress doesn't always show up as burnout right away. More often, it surfaces quietly through things like physical symptoms, emotional exhaustion, and a slow erosion of joy. This episode centers on how living out of alignment impacts the nervous system, the body, and long-term wellbeing, especially for high-functioning, purpose-driven people.A real world story illustrates how mental and emotional strain can accumulate beneath the surface, eventually manifesting as physical consequences that can no longer be ignored. The pattern is familiar: years of “shoulds,” pushing, and over-leveraging… followed by a moment when the body draws a hard line. This conversation is especially relevant for anyone interested in nervous system regulation, mind-body medicine, integrative health, or understanding how unresolved stress and trauma affect the body over time. Alignment isn't about perfection. It's about honesty, awareness, and choosing a path that supports both health and life. You'll Learn:[00:00] Introduction[04:52] The hidden cost of living by “shoulds” instead of what actually feels aligned[09:14] What happens when stress and misalignment start showing up in the body[12:01] The moment making money quietly replaces fulfillment without you noticing[17:08] What changes when you stop outsourcing your intuition to experts and templates[21:36] The slow erosion of confidence that comes from not trusting yourself[27:45] The role identity confusion plays in burnout, anxiety, and feeling stuck[34:12] What real self-honesty looks like before alignment can return[39:58] Why surface-level mindset work can't resolve deeper misalignment[46:41] The warning signs of unhealthy power dynamics with coaches or gurus[52:14] The skill of taking advice without giving away your authorityFind More From Dr. Stephanie Davis:Dr. Stephanie Davis | WebsiteQuantum Rx | InstagramQuantum Rx | Skool

I'm Gina Ryan, and I reflect on my personal journey as I navigate my first winter in Central New York after spending over two decades in the perpetual warmth of Hawaii. Moving from the lush, vibrant landscapes of Hawaii to the cold and snowy winters of New York has been a challenging yet transformative experience for me, sparking insights on the health benefits that winter can offer our nervous systems and mental health.I begin by discussing how the cold weather presents a mild, steady stressor that can unintentionally bolster our nervous systems. Each encounter with the cold, from the first sharp breath of freezing air to the challenges of navigating snow-covered pathways, acts as a form of natural exposure therapy. Instead of succumbing to panic, we are encouraged to build resilience and presence, fostering a sense of calm amid discomfort. This winter, rather than viewing the season as something to endure, I invite listeners to consider how it can teach us tolerance and mental strength, emphasizing compassion for ourselves as we adapt to environmental challenges. Moreover, winter grants us permission to embrace rest and reflection. I observe how nature instinctively slows down during this season, from the hibernation of wildlife to the way the trees withdraw. This natural pause offers us the rare opportunity to step back from our relentless productivity and find restoration in stillness. I share my own experience of improved sleep rhythms and a deeper emotional processing that arises when life becomes less hectic. In a world that often glorifies busyness, winter stands as a testament to the power of slowness and presence.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
It's the first episode of 2026, and we're flipping New Year's resolutions on their head. I'm joined by my best friend (and the woman who helped bring this podcast to life), Keira Brinton, on the pod today, where we talk about WHY January pressures set so many of us up to fail!! In this conversation, Keira and I talk about how to start this year in a way that actually matches real life, real energy, and real healing. We go deep on integrity, self-trust, cycles (in nature + in your body), and the mindset shifts that turn “starting over” into steady momentum. In this episode, we talk about:Why “New Year, New You” hits hardest in the coldest, darkest season—and why that mattersThe idea that a 500-year-old calendar system isn't a good blueprint for motivation (Gregorian calendar history) Encyclopedia Virginia+2HISTORY+2Why most people quit early—and how to stop making that mean something about you.The real foundation: integrity with yourself (and why overcommitting breaks self-trust)“Your pace is allowed to be your pace”—and how cycles apply to reinventionA mindset experiment that shows how your brain “fills in the gaps” based on what you focus onPrayer/gratitude as a frequency shift (moving from “please help me” to “thank you, it's already here”)The rules that shaped my life (Bob Parsons' “16 Rules”) and the ones that still guide me today Bob ParsonsGentle content note: This episode includes discussion of suicidal ideation and mental health struggles. What to do after listening (simple action steps):Instead of a January overhaul, choose one tiny “Kaizen” move you can repeat daily. Many women in midlife begin to question habits they once accepted without much thought, for some that includes their relationship with alcohol. In this episode of Message in the Middle, Marianne sits down with alcohol-free empowerment coach, keynote speaker, and author Lauren Fay for an honest, compassionate conversation about reclaiming your power and choosing a more conscious way of living.Lauren shares what life looked like before she stopped drinking in 2018, and why she doesn't frame sobriety as a loss, but as an act of self-trust and self-respect. If you are in a midlife transition and still finding yourself second guessing every step, you might be stuck waiting for the “right” answer before you move.In this personal reflection, I share what I have seen in my own journey and in the people I work with: how easy it is, once you have left the old structure, to start treating every decision in your new chapter like an exam you can pass or fail. We look at why that old way of deciding made sense in your previous career, and why it quietly keeps you frozen now, even though you have already done the brave thing and stepped into change. You will hear a simple mindset shift that turns decisions from pressure-filled tests into chances to build self trust. You will get three practical tools to help you treat your choices as experiments instead of life sentences. And you will start building your own evidence that you can handle what comes next, so you feel less afraid of “getting it wrong” and more grounded in who you are becoming.Press play to sit with me for a few minutes, and learn how to move from chasing certainty to trusting your ability to respond with clarity, courage, and self respect in this next chapter of your life and work.˚VALUABLE RESOURCES:Coaching with Agi: https://personaldevelopmentmasterypodcast.com/mentor˚Conversations and insights on career transition, career clarity, midlife career change and career pivots for midlife professionals, including second careers, new ventures, leaving a long-term career with confidence, better decision-making, and creating purposeful, meaningful work.˚Support the showCareer transition and career clarity podcast content for midlife professionals in career transition, navigating a midlife career change, career pivot or second career, starting a new venture or leaving a long-term career. What happens when you've done everything right, hit the milestones, followed the plan, built the “good life” and still feel like something's missing? In this week's episode, I'm joined by transformational coach and spiritual mentor Hélène Caniac for a powerful conversation about what it really means to move from achievement to fulfillment. Together, we explore the embodied, lived-in practice of self-trust, pleasure, and presence; how to sustain your power and purpose without burning out or betraying yourself. We dive deep into the systems that have systemically severed our self-trust, from capitalism and productivity culture to patriarchal conditioning and the ways spirituality itself can become another form of performance. Hélène unpacks how disconnection has been woven into our collective DNA for generations, and why rebuilding trust with ourselves is one of the most radical, world-changing acts we can take.If you've been craving a softer, truer way of living, a way that honors both your depth and your belonging, this episode will feel like a homecoming. In this episode, we explore:The shift from achievement to fulfillment — how to move beyond external success and create a life rooted in alignment, joy, and embodied purpose. The systems that sever our self-trust — unpacking how patriarchy, capitalism, and performance-driven spirituality keep us disconnected from our power.Expanding capacity for joy and freedom — practical tools to cultivate presence, discernment, and nervous-system resilience through seasons of chaos or change.Pleasure as a path of leadership — how enjoyment, play, and authenticity become fuel for purpose, creativity, and sustainable impact.Embodiment in everyday life — living your spirituality “in traffic,” in your relationships, and in the ordinary rhythms of work, motherhood, and leadership.Redefining success — shifting from output and performance toward integrity, connection, and fulfillment that actually feels good in your body. The power of collective healing — remembering that true transformation happens in relationship, through community, curiosity, and shared humanity.Be sure to hit subscribe so you never miss the latest episode!Connect with Hélène Caniac:Website: helenecanhelp.comInstagram: @helenecanhelpJoin Le Salon — Hélène's free Telegram community for thought-provoking seasonal musings, voice-note journal prompts, and early access to upcoming offerings. Most of us start the new year thinking about goals, resolutions, and vision boards. But the kind of transformation we talk about on The Inner Edge doesn't happen on a poster board—it happens inside of you. In this episode, Janet guides you through a powerful internal practice she calls a mind vision, a mental image of your future self that becomes the compass for how you show up, lead, and live this year. Instead of describing the concept alone, Janet takes you through a grounding, experiential exercise that helps you embody this future version of yourself—shifting the way you make decisions, hold boundaries, and carry your presence each day. This is the deeper work of becoming, not performing. In this episode:✅ Why traditional vision boards only focus on outcomes and what they miss✅ The difference between wanting change and becoming the person who naturally creates it✅ How your “future self effect” shapes behavior, confidence, and decision-making✅ A guided mind vision practice to clarify who you're growing into this year✅ How to stop letting old patterns, anxieties, and versions of yourself lead your life✅ Why identity, not goals, drives real, lasting transformationAbout Janet Ioli:Janet Ioli is a globally recognized executive advisor, coach, and leadership expert with over 25 years of experience developing leaders in Fortune 100 companies and global organizations. She created The Inner Edge—a framework, a movement, and a message that flips leadership from mere success performance to presence; from ego to soul. We also talk about Gaia's messages for humanity, the power of nature as meditation, and the rise of the divine feminine on our planet. Most of us think self-trust means knowing we'll always make the right decision and that our future self will behave perfectly. What if the secret to real resilience isn't just powering through, but learning to pause—even when it's the absolute hardest thing to do? I've been there myself, caught in the frantic pace, feeling like the world's too loud and demanding. Maybe you too, as a leader, find it easy to keep going… until suddenly, you realize you don't even know how you feel anymore. You're supposed to be strong, to keep it together. But honestly, is pushing through actually helping you, or just holding you together by a thread? So many leaders believe resilience means being tough and unbreakable. But the truth, as Dr. Ute Liersch and I explore in this episode, is that resilience is about yielding and noticing the real experience, even when it's frustrating. When we slow down enough to notice what's going on inside, we can actually respond flexibly, adapt, and find our footing again. Today, we're reframing resilience and looking to the deeper work of psychological flexibility and awareness. This is about building a daily ritual of noticing, connecting, moving, expressing, and realigning with what matters most. This isn't about achieving perfection or following someone else's script for success. This is about real, practical ways to build your noticing muscle using the resources you already have and giving yourself grace when it's hard.
