Moms of truth is founded on 2 Timothy 3:16-17; "All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work." The vision of this ministry is to provide content that is rooted in the word, share principles, behaviors, and truths that we can practically apply to our life and our parenting. Our mission is to teach children the truth, train them in their faith and trust God with the outcome.
These are just a few suggestions of safe and clean streaming entertainment platforms for kids. There are definitely more than just these I am talking about and I pray this encourages you to seek them out. We do not have to settle for platforms that are toxic for our children. Let's be willing to ditch them and find some that are wholesome and God honoring. Follow Moms of Truth on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/momsoftruth/
Coming to Disney plus in Australia and New Zealand is a new show called 'Little Demon'. It is every bit as awful as you think and even worse. This show isn't even rated for children so why Disney is bringing it onto their platform blows my mind. Currently it has no other release dates for other regions but I'm certain they are coming.
Most Christian parents consider this to be a tough or nerve-racking conversation and that is explaining same sex couples or marriage to your children. We can no longer hide it from them. They see it in commercials, t.v shows, in our communities and for some of us, in our families. 3 helpful tips before you start: 1. Have a plan. 2. Don't make it a big deal. 3. Make it a safe place for discussion and questions. Here is the plan I followed when explaining this to my own children, I pray it is helpful to you! 1. Start with scripture: Genesis 1:27, and possibly Genesis 7:1-10, then Matthew 19:4-6 2. Introduce the lifestyle: see video for notes on covering this 3. Compare it back to Scripture: James 1:14&15, possibly Romans 1:24-29 4. Teach them how to respond: Colossians 4:5&6 5. Pray about it and for others. Today I would like to share with you the top 5 reasons why we do not celebrate Santa for Christmas in our household. Although I grew up doing all the Santa traditions, the Holy Spirit has shown me how much of a distraction he can be. Of course, the true story of St. Nicholas is wonderful and inspiring but it has changed so much over the years. So much in fact, Santa has take on his own identity that does not resemble the true St. Nicholas at all. 1. Stole attributes 2. Twisted story 3. Anti-Gospel message 4. Gifts are from God 5. How do we develop discernment within our children? Hebrews 5:14 ESV translation says, But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice, to distinguish good from evil. Keywords here for us are constant practice, trained by constant practice. On today's podcast I will be sharing a few ways and ideas we can train our children constant practice. 1.) Through movies and tv shows 2.) Lyrics to songs 3.) Children's books 4.) Sermons 5.) Popular catch phrases 6.) What they learn or hear in public school 7.) Fallacy is everywhere. Our children cross paths with it everyday through either, music, books, commercials, school, friends, social media, I mean the list really just goes on! We can not protect, filter or keep them from it 100% of the time. It's just impossible. Our only hope is to train them up to be discerning on their own, testing everything to the written word of God. Today, I would like to share with you a recent discernment activity I did with my own children and what the outcome of it was. I pray that it both inspires and encourages you to practice this sort of thing with your children as well. :) 1.) Explain what discernment is and why it's important 2.) Explain the activity and what the mission is 3.) Be 100% present during the activity and even do it alongside them 4.) Holidays can be a hot topic when it comes to Christianity. Unfortunately, in the body of Christ it can cause a lot of division and in this video I'd like to talk about that a little bit. Evil doesn't even lurk anymore, it's loud and proud. It yells and displays its boldness on the street corner in the name of equality or human rights. We have no more time to make excuses or push aside the duty of training up our children. If we don't equip them with the truth and the faith to hold fast to it, the world will crush them. In today's podcast I will share 5 common back talk phrases kids often say and give you biblical ways to respond. Talking back is not an abnormal thing for any parent to get frustrated with, we've all had to or will experience it with our kids. If our children are going to successfully walk in integrity we must teach them how to identify temptation and then equip them to overcome it. Temptation is the thing that tries to entice our children away from what is good and true into a life of sin, setting aside their integrity altogether. Today is part 3 of the integrity series and we will talk about how to help our children identify temptation, who it's from and how God uses it for good, and lastly how to teach them to find strength to resist. Raising followers of Christ can not be accomplished without integrity, an honest and pure heart, faithful and loyal to the one true King. This is an essential character trait to develop within ourselves and our children. Matthew 4:1-14, James 1:13 & 1:3, Psalms 121:1-2 & 119:11, Philippians 4:13 & 4:6-7, Hebrews 2:18 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AliciaLGregg Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/momsoftruth/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmax0k6bg6TZrfdocWR_2kw Twitter: https://twitter.com/momsoftruth
Our children are going to face outside influences even from a young age, ungodly influence. How will they fair? Are we confident as moms that they will choose to honor God? Will they lay down their faithfulness for temporary approval from peers? How can we have any sort of peace of mind as they venture out into the world more and more? Today we will take a look at the life of Daniel and see how he faired as he was taken from his home in his youth. His story is not only inspirational but shows us as parents how important it really is that we develop integrity in our children. Raising honest kids is a hard task. From as early as two years old they somehow know how to tell a lie and from then on we are trying everything we can to get them to do the right thing even when they think no one can see them. In today's message I will have some open unscripted conversation with my son about integrity. What is it? Why is it important? And what does scripture say about it? Consider today a light intro to the series of integrity. In the following weeks we will discuss people in the Bible who show us how to have integrity and how that helps us in our walk with Christ. We will also later cover tangible ways we can actually cultivate this character trait in our children. Children are a gift from the Lord (Psalms 127:3) but in the hard parts of parenting it sometimes doesn't feel like that. We have an abundance of moments when we are beaming with pride and love for our children while other times we are weighed down by the hardships of parenting. When we allow the lie that our children are a burden to grasp our hearts it changes they way we see them and in turn effects our interactions with them. In today's video I pray that you would find great encouragement and rest in the Gods truth. Our children are truly a gift and a wonderful reward for us to enjoy and steward well. The question should I spank my child is often asked or pondered by parents. The answer to this is not a one size fits all. Making this determination can be difficult to navigate for any parent. As christians we rely fully on what the word of God says and his Holy Spirit which directs us in the way we should go. In this video, I will briefly be talking about spanking specifically. However, this is a minuscule part of discipline as many other effective things can and should be put into practice before this. I also covered biblical discipline in a complete 4 part series, including what the Bible says about physical punishment. As mom it's likely at one time or another you may have lost your cool with your kids and said things you later felt bad about. I don't think any mom should beat herself up about any regretful interactions instead I'd like to encourage you. If you do feel that way know that you can make it right with your kids by asking their forgiveness along with Gods. His grace is sufficient. In the throws of motherhood it is easy for harmful phrases to slip of the tongue. Today we are going to talk about a few that you may have heard or even said to your kids. I will talk about better ways we can respond to our children that will build them up instead of tear them down. Are any of the following phrases familiar to you: Because I said so, don't use that tone with me, wipe that look off your face, life's not fair, your room looks like a tornado went through it, and as long as you live under my roof. Today we are talking about taming the momma tongue. If we want to build our children up in the love and ways of the Lord we must learn to control our tongue. There are many things we say while in the everyday chaos of motherhood that hurt our children even if it's unintentional. Let's look at what some of those things are and how we can change that.
I LOVE to check in with my kids to see what kind of questions they have along the way to understanding God's big story. Today I will be talking with my only daughter about why Jesus had to die. We live in a time where parents think it's cruel to correct or discipline their children. They think it is harsh and unfair to give them boundaries and then enforce them. Moms are afraid to correct their children in public because they are made to feel guilty about discipling their child. What happens when we raise undisciplined children? Today we will discuss the answer to that question by looking throughout Biblical history for understanding. When you hear the word discipline there are probably a few different images that come to mind for you and it's likely based off your own experiences growing up. Our upbringing can shape our understanding of what discipline is supposed to be but God's word can teach us ways that are healthy, fruitful and biblical. In today's video we are going to talk about ways to discipline our children that include discipleship because after all, that is the goal. On today's show we are going to look at the goal of discipline and the role we play in it as care-givers. Having a clear picture of the outcome we desire to see in our children will help us to take the right next steps. Scripture also tells us that God disciplines those he calls his children but this doesn't let us off the hook. He is clear that we are to take part in the process. Over the next three weeks we will be covering the topic discipline. Before we discuss ways to biblically do that it would be wise of us to ask the Holy Spirit to first search our heart and reveal any hidden faults within us. The way we see our children and the things we carry on our heart play into how we treat them and discipline them. Let's start by allowing God to do a work in us. :) Psalm 19:12 Who can discern his own errors? Cleanse me from my hidden faults. Last year was such a rollercoaster and I found myself clinging to Gods word more than ever before. I don't know what 2021 has in store but I do know that I need to go into it with strong faith! However, there is this little distracting thing called doubt that always seems to show up to discourage me and weaken my faith. So lets equip and empower ourselves by bringing doubt into the light and understand how it shows up in our thoughts. What happens when the person you voted for isn't elected? As a Christian parent what should we be modeling to our children about who is being sworn into office when we do not agree with their morals and policies? The answer is quite simple and is clearly written in scripture for us. In today's mesage I will share how we christian parents can teach our children to trust in the Lord even when the outcome isn't what we think it should be.

It's not enough for our children to know what sin is, the consequence of it and the solution to it. They must also practice turning from it. So how do we do that as mommas and disciple-makers? 1.) Instill a knowledge of what it is. 2.) Use God's law in times of discipline. 3.) Help them practice repentance. 4.) Model repentance. 5.) Pray for conviction and for them to be caught in their sin. Romans 6:21, Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! The battle with sin is not always an easy one but God's word is clear in that he wants us to choose to do what is right over what is evil. In this video, I talk about why it is so important for us to dive deep into the topic of sin with our kids. The more we understand why it's so important the more committed and diligent we will be as moms to spend time talking about it. The goal after all, is to raise children that live a life pleasing to God and to do that well, they need to know what is displeasing to Him. So momma, let's equip our children with the knowledge they need to be faithful followers of Christ Jesus. Scriptures---- Galatians 2:21 NLT, Romans 5:21 NLT, Isaiah 59:2 ESV, Romans 6:21 NLT, Titus 1:16 ESV, 2 Corinthians 7 :10 NLT, Proverbs 28:13 NLT, Isaiah 55:8-9 ESV, 2 Timothy 2:19 NLT Brave Mom Challenge: Open up the dialogue. Start by reading the story of Christ crucified and ask you kids if they understand why Jesus had to suffer and die. If they say, for our sins, press in more, past the basic knowledge. See what they say and let the Holy Spirit led you in helping them understand the weight of sin. If you need help, check out last Wednesday's video! Sin isn't always a fun topic but necessary to understand the truth of what Jesus did. Without sin there was no reason for Christ to be crucified. Growing in our understanding of sin not only helps the truth of the Gospel be deep seated in our hearts but it equips us to point our children's actions back to Christ. The truth is what sets us free! In this video, I answer the following questions with Scripture: 1.) What is sin? 2.) Why is sin bad? 3.) How do you know if you are sinning? 4.) What happens when we sin? 5.) How does it make you feel? 6.) What did God do about sin? 7.) What must we do to be washed clean and saved by Jesus? On this episode my 9 year old Noah will answer, the best he can, questions about sin. He did not receive any special or extra teaching before this recording. He is answering these tough questions based on his current wisdom. The purpose of this is so I (mom) can check in to see where my kids are in their understanding. Then, I can evaluate their answers and strategically plan my next teachings with them. Are they misunderstanding God's truth? Are they completely confused or do they just need to dig a little deeper? I encourage you to practice this with your children and I hope this video brings you encouragement to do so! Be sure to check back next week for a follow up video on "How to teach your kids about sin."
