Most people are aware that coming from a dysfunction family, the family members can be your worse enemy. As a person striving to life your best life now, you have a serious choice to make. Maybe we can't choose the family we're born into, but as an adult we can choose not to be part of their drama. The choice really is up to you.
Why do funerals and weddings bring out the worse in people? After the recent passing of my younger brother, I had to step back from the family dynamic to reassess how I really fit into that group and if after 15 year of struggling to maintain a civil relationship with 2 of my sisters and 1 brother is it really worth the heartache and stress. When is enough enough? In this episode I share my personal experience with siblings as we gathered to mourn the sudden transition of my brother, whom I loved dearly. Share your thoughts, and leave a comment. Namaste!
Habitual thoughts, views of life, and hanging on to old memories are some things that drag you down. Many people become stuck in a certain lifestyle, a certain phase of life, the good old days, or stuck in unforgiveness, emotional hurt and pain they refuse to let go of. This episode is dedicated to my baby brother Stanley Williams who transitioned out of this physical realm last Sunday. In the midst of coping with the grief, we are also dealing with challenges of negative psychic energies from people who are hanging on to old memories because they are stuck and are not able to move past certain negative vibrational energies. I'm sure some of you listeners can relate to that. Thank you for sharing your questions. Please feel free to contact me at aspireme2.0@gmail.com. Namaste!

Hopefully after listening to this episode you will feel confident in knowing that you no longer have to tolerate the gossiping and bullying antics of a jealous sibling. It is perfectly fine for you to sever the biological ties with vicious siblings who are making your life a living hell. It's time to cut the ties that bind you to a toxic family dynamic in order to protect your mental wellbeing and allow yourself to heal from those painful memories. I read that the rivalry develops as children compete for their parents' attention, love, and respect, and typically rears its head in various forms of fighting and expressions of jealousy. Relationship dynamics between aggressive sibling and the victim sibling often remain unchanged from childhood into adulthood. The bully continues to victimize their sibling because having someone to pick on boosts their own fragile sense of self-worth. The victim, worn down by years of ill treatment at the hands of their sibling, may feel resentful, but may also be at a loss as to how to change the situation, thus allowing the abuse to continue. The jealous sibling may have become so used to having a sibling who can't or won't defend themselves that they don't want the dynamic between them to change and become more healthy. Having someone to blame for their problems or take their frustration out on suits the bully and so they deliberately resist any attempts at sincere reconciliation. After many attempts at trying to have a healthy relationship with the gossiping, bullying sibling, most victims simply give up and accept the situation, however miserable it makes them. Some take the drastic, but necessary measure of avoiding contact with their sibling. Estrangement between adult siblings is not as uncommon as most people think, with a recent study at Cornell University finding that one in ten adults have one or more family members from whom they are estranged. For many people in this situation, it is a last resort and one they may grapple with for years before finally taking the plunge. However, most report feeling a strong sense of relief that they no longer have to endure their bullying sibling's behavior. Have you been the sibling initiating action to maintain family bonds? Is your relationship with your adult siblings tenuous or leave you emotionally drained, or stressed out when you're around them? In this episode we'll look at the possible cause for messy and toxic relationship with siblings and offer a solution that can empower you to finally put your foot down and throw in the towel in a peaceful and loving way, if that is your desire. According to an article on Psychology today website, written by Jane Mersky Leder, the new view holds that conflict is not the natural state of sibling relationships, still for a third of us, discord sown early in childhood endures for a lifetime. Even when parents do their best at loving and respecting all of their children, the influence of siblings on one another can be enormous. The article states that a study showed that the participants don't get along with their sibling or have little in common, spend limited time together, and use words to describe their childhood like "competitive" "humiliating" and "hurtful." While few adult siblings have severed their ties completely, approximately on-third describe their relationship as rivalrous or distant. According to the National Council on Aging in almost 60% of elder abuse and neglect incidents, the perpetrator is a family member. Two thirds of perpetrators are adult children or spouses. According to Sheri McGregor, a vast majority of parents want their children's happiness above all else and they reevaluate themselves through the son or daughter's perspective. Toxic relationships are malicious regardless if it is with an intimate partner or an adult child. In some instances it is time for moms to cut the apron strings on toxic relationships with adult children and establish spiritual and physical well being boundaries for themselves. Happy Mothers Days! For 364 days a year millions of women deal with disrespectful and toxic adult children who think their mission in life is to make their parent's life miserable because their parents didn't live up to their youthful expectations. Moms you don't have to spend the rest of your life apologizing and continuously explaining your actions from 30, 40 or 50 years ago. Don't keep reliving painful memories it's counter productive. If your adult child doesn't accept you for who you are and if that adult child does not want to genuinely forgive you for who you were back there when, that is on them and don't allow your adult child to make you feel guilty about the choices in life. Liberate yourself, cut the apron strings and let the healing from that toxic relationship begin! The Birth of Mother's Day The origin of Mother's Day as we know it took place in the early 1900s. A woman named Anna Jarvis started a campaign for an official holiday honoring mothers in 1905, the year her own mother died. The first larger-scale celebration of the holiday was in 1908, when Jarvis held a public memorial for her mother in her hometown of Grafton, West Virginia. Over the next few years, Jarvis pushed to have the holiday officially recognized, and it was celebrated increasingly in more and more states around the U.S. Finally, in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation making Mother's Day an official holiday, to take place the second Sunday of May. Anna Jarvis put Mother's Day on the calendar as a day dedicated to expressing love and gratitude to mothers, acknowledging the sacrifices women make for their children. That's why she was determined to keep “Mother's” a singular possessive, as marked by the apostrophe before “s.” Each family should celebrate its own mother, so that individual women across the country could feel the love, even in the midst of a broad celebration of motherhood. However, florists, candy-makers and card-makers, and even charities used Mother's Day as a way to make an extra buck. The commercialization of Mother's Day, according to Jarvis, defeated the whole point of a holiday that was supposed to be about celebrating the personal, individual connection between a mother and her children. From about 1920 onward, Jarvis fought hard to prevent businesses from profiting by means of Mother's Day cards, candy, flowers, and other gifts. Although she had fought to be recognized as the one and only “Mother of Mother's Day,” she later lobbied to have the holiday removed from the calendar of national holidays, and spent piles of her own money in lawsuits against profiteers she saw as using the Mother's Day name in vain. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/shirlet/support

I love doing this dating series. This week I share a story of a recent experience I had with a man I met while purchasing strawberries from a local vendor. I use this situation as a example to reiterate the message of the necessity of having a screening system in place when you meet a total stranger who wants to be a potential intimate partner. The biggest barrier to positive change at any level is identity conflict. Becoming the best version of yourself requires you to continuously edit your beliefs, and to upgrade and expand your identity. Every belief, including those about yourself, is learned and conditioned through experience. The more you repeat a behavior the more you reinforce the identity associated with that behavior. As you know when you embrace your Divine self and endeavor to live from that place challenging life issue will happen, it's inevitable. I read in the Heart of the Lotus Sutra that "What matters is the depth at which we live, the power of thought we manifest. A person who leads such a truly profound life can make each day worth ten days or even a month. In a year he or she can create the value of ten or even hundred years. This is the true measure of one's life span, it is not decided simply on the superficial basis of length of time. "The steps taken to achieve anything momentous are by no means glamorous. In fact, in most cases they take place quietly and out of the limelight. But such accumulated efforts have the power to change the world." In this episode I'll talk about how to focus on your spiritual growth. To do that you must implement practical steps everyday that will help you to align with your intuitive nature. Some ways to refocus your mind are to: (1) Have an attitude of gratitude for your breath of life. (2) Journal till your hearts content. (3) Meditate, pray, or chant, to tune into the essence of your soul, and to vibrate on a higher frequency with the universal flow of life. (4) Listen to uplifting music (5) Be a good steward over what you feed your mind, body and soul. Being spiritual simply means that you are in touch with your own Divine Self and you commit to live from that place. It means learning to ignore the vices that are designed to lure and keep you fixated on the chaotic life of the collective unconscious world. In this episode I share some insights from my study as I pondered the significance of this New Year 2021. I'll talk a little about the new time space consciousness that 2021 ushered in. According to Susan Miller, Astrologer, last month on the Winter Solstice, we had the Grand Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 0 degrees Aquarius. It is called the Grand Conjunction because it is a very rare event and a powerful conjunction involving the two most influential planets, Jupiter and Saturn. For the first time in nearly 200 years, these two planets made the transfer from earth to air signs this month in Aquarius. We are remarkably fortunate to be alive to see the transfer from earth to air. This is so important that astrologers have taken this event, the Grand Conjunction, a once-in-20-year event, and renamed it the Grand Mutation—a once-in-200-year move across the transom to a new way of life. Now, we will see the full blossoming of the Age of Aquarius The message from me to you in this New Year's podcast would be the importance of seeing the truth. It is all the more important now for people to recognize who they are first and foremost as spiritual beings and not be blindsided by any other rhetoric that doesn't align with our spiritual identity. Buddhism explains that there are five types of visions or perceptive faculty that people may possess depending on their state of life (1) the eye of ordinary people, which distinguishes color and form, (2) heavenly eye, which perceives things in the darkness at a distance or beyond obstructions, (3) the wisdom eye, with which people can perceive that nothing has independent existence and all phenomena are not substantial, (4) Dharma eye, which perceives the nature of all teachings are in order to save the people and (5) the Buddha eye, which perceives the true nature of life spanning past, present and future and includes the other four eyes. Often people experience failure or loss in even simple, everyday affairs due to misunderstandings or misperceptions, prejudice or speculation. It is all the more difficult to see the truth when it comes to fundamental problems of human life or society. I am your host, Shirle T.
