Yossi Gozlan On The Mavs' 2025 Salary Cap Picture

In this episode we are thrilled to be joined by NBA salary cap expert analyst Yossi Gozlan, making his third appearance on our podcast.Today we focus on the Mavericks' salary cap situation going into this pivotal summer where they will draft Cooper Flagg #1 overall and pivot their team building around him. Yossi tells us that the Mavericks will enter this summer slightly over the 2nd apron of $207.8 million, and will probably be looking to shed some salary so they can get under that figure. They may even try to dump further money so that they can get under the 1st apron threshold of $195.9 million. In all likelihood, they will at least be over the luxury tax threshold of $187.8 million, limiting their player acquisition avenues to the taxpayer mid-level exception, and trades. In order to gain access to the full mid-level exception, the Mavericks would have to shed enough salary to get under that luxury tax threshold, which may be difficult to do with only one team (Brooklyn Nets) possessing cap space to potentially take on contracts in a salary dump. We then discuss with Yossi whether it makes sense for the Mavs to prioritize their future with Flagg by trading Anthony Davis while his value is still high. We are all in agreement that while that is the wise decision, we do not trust Mavs general manager Nico Harrison to do it. With that in mind, Yossi walks us through avenues the Mavs can move around players on their roster to address their biggest needs this summer, namely a point guard. Yossi also tells us that while the penalties of the NBA's “Apron era” can be harsh, there are still avenues for teams to avoid the worst effects of it, specifically frozen draft picks. Finally, with Yossi being a Los Angeles resident, we get his perspective on how the vibe in the city has changed since the Lakers traded for Luka Dončić. He talks about how Luka reminds a lot of Lakers fans of certain Laker legends such as Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson. While we all lament the deal, we try to look forward to the new era the Mavs will be entering with Cooper Flagg. You can follow Yossi on X/Twitter @YossiGozlan. You can also check out and subcribe to his newsletter, Third Apron . Subscribe to his YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@YossiGozlanNBA. Thanks for reading Mavs Film Room! Ever wonder what Starbucks' green apron can teach us about Multifamily? In this episode of the Multifamily Collective, I unpack a quiet revolution happening at Starbucks under their new CEO — black attire returning to the forefront to let the iconic green apron shine. It's branding. It's intentionality. It's leadership. And it got me thinking…What's our green apron in the Multifamily industry?Have we relaxed too far post-COVID?Have we traded consistency and professionalism for comfort?I reflect on the days when dress codes were the norm — when career apparel wasn't a buzzkill but a badge of purpose. Today, we walk into leasing offices and see everything from casual Friday to “did you forget you work in leasing?” And while this isn't a knock on anyone, it's a call to reimagine how we show up — for our teams, our brands, and most importantly, our customers. This isn't about fashion. It's about storytelling. It's about packaging. It's about pride. What message do we send when we present ourselves well? When our team attire becomes a visual handshake that says, "We take this seriously"?Maybe it's time we found our own green apron.Like this kind of industry insight?Hit that like button, subscribe to the channel, and join the conversation in the comments below. We're just getting started.

In honor of National Women's History Month, we are celebrating Julia Child. Most people aren't aware that she was also a professional SPY for the U.S. in WWII, for years. NO WAY! – you say. Okay … let me back up a little. Most of us think of Julia, in the early 1960's and decades beyond, almost single-handedly, exploding ideas about the role of women in American society by writing best-selling cook books and making an extremely popular TV cooking show – eventually distributed to over 50 countries across the globe. She was one of the earliest female entrepreneurs anywhere. But, BEFORE she was a celebrated chef, author, television celebrity, and women's advocate – she served as a VERY successful spy !!!   Listen to learn about Julia's important story of her adventures in spy craft. Though she may not have driven an Aston Martin and probably didn't carry a Walther PPK pistol in her brassier, she did love her vodka martinis -- just like James Bond. And she was involved in some very impactful spy stuff to help win the war. We're gonna tell you all about it! Despite her butter and fat infused, French cooking style, this incredible person lived to age 91! She will always be a pioneering American hero in our collective memory.
