    Ivy Insights

The Intentional Woman Podcast is truly a gem in the world of podcasts. As a devoted listener, I have found this podcast to be not just entertaining, but also incredibly insightful and spiritually uplifting. Hosted by Nicole of Faith, Foolishness & Favor, each episode dives deep into biblical teachings and provides valuable insights on how to apply them to our everyday lives as children of God.

One of the best aspects of The Intentional Woman Podcast is its biblical insight. Nicole does an amazing job of breaking down complex concepts from the Bible and making them relatable to listeners. She offers practical advice on how to live a more intentional life, always drawing from scripture to support her points. This podcast has truly helped me deepen my understanding of the Bible and has given me much-needed guidance on how to apply its teachings in my own life.

Another aspect that sets this podcast apart is its honesty and vulnerability. Nicole doesn't shy away from sharing her own struggles and imperfections, which makes her incredibly relatable as a host. It serves as a reminder that none of us are perfect, but we can all strive to live more intentionally and seek God's wisdom in our daily lives. This authenticity creates a safe space for listeners to reflect on their own flaws and find encouragement in their spiritual journeys.

However, like any podcast, The Intentional Woman Podcast does have some room for improvement. One aspect that could be strengthened is the production quality. While Nicole's content is excellent, there are occasional audio issues or inconsistencies in sound quality that can be distracting at times. With better production values, this podcast would truly shine even brighter.

In conclusion, The Intentional Woman Podcast is an exceptional show that provides valuable insights into living an intentional life as a Christian woman. From its biblical teachings to its raw honesty, it offers something for everyone seeking guidance in their faith journey. Although there may be minor production issues, they pale in comparison to the wisdom and encouragement provided by Nicole. I would highly recommend this podcast to anyone looking for a refreshing and insightful resource to help them grow in their faith.

Day 30: The Reward Of Obedience

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 17, 2026 14:34 Transcription Available

Obedience can feel risky when you're doing what God asked and the thing you wanted still hasn't shown up. Day 30 of 31 Days of Obedience sits right in that tension and offers a steadier kind of hope: the real reward of obedience is often the strength you gain by trusting God, even when the outcome is delayed or different than you imagined. We read Philippians 4:13 and talk about why that verse isn't about proving you're capable, it's about admitting you're dependent. I share what these 30 days have produced in me: evidence that God meets us when we move our feet, evidence that grace sustains, and evidence that what feels impossible becomes possible when Christ is our source. We also anchor the message in Matthew 19:26, reminding ourselves that “humanly speaking” some assignments really are impossible, and that's exactly where God's power becomes personal. You'll also get reflection questions to help you spot where you obeyed while afraid, where God gave you strength you didn't think you had, and where peace arrived after you surrendered control. Then we take it practical with a simple exercise: write down three acts of obedience and label them as Evidence Of God's Faithfulness, so remembrance becomes fuel for future faith and follow-through. If you've been craving a Christian devotional that blends Scripture, honest testimony, and a clear next step, press play. Subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more women of faith can find the encouragement.

    Day 29: Obedience Is Worship

Worship is not just what we sing, it's what we obey, especially when obedience costs us comfort. On day 29 of 31 Days of Obedience, we sit with Romans 12:1-2 and the call to present our lives as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. That's not hype, it's discipleship for real life, and it forces an honest question: do we love God the way we say we love God, or only when it's convenient? We talk about “reasonable service” as a response to God's mercy, the mercy that meets us through Jesus' cross, redemption, reconciliation, and being brought into right standing with the Father. When that truth lands, obedience stops feeling like a random rulebook and starts looking like worship. We also unpack why the phrase “living sacrifice” matters so much, because a living sacrifice can get up off the altar, and that's why renewing the mind is essential for spiritual growth, consistency, and intentional living. Then we get practical. We name the places we tend to withhold, relationships, habits, plans, ambitions, time, health, and we use a simple image to expose our fear: the small teddy bear we cling to while God is inviting us to trust Him with more. You'll leave with a reflection question, a surrender prayer you can pray out loud, and a gentle push to obey swiftly when the Spirit makes the next step clear. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a rating and review so more women can find the show.

Peace can feel like the one promise we keep missing, especially when we're praying hard and still living with an anxious mind. Today we sit with Isaiah 26:3 and let it read us back: God keeps us in perfect peace when our minds stay on Him, because we trust Him. That “because” is where the breakthrough lives, and it's also where many of us realize we've been trying to do God's part after we finish our own.We talk honestly about what it looks like to confuse spiritual activity with trust. Repeating the same prayer while mentally monitoring the situation all day isn't rest, and it isn't the same as fixing our thoughts on God. We explore the difference between thinking about what we handed to God and thinking about God Himself, then move into the deeper heart issue that often drives control: transactional faith, the belief that we have to earn love, earn answers, and earn peace. You'll leave with a clear reflection question to journal and a practical obedience step you can use immediately: identify one thing you keep “checking on,” choose one truth about God's character, and return to that truth every time fear tries to pull you back into control. If you're craving Christian encouragement, a short devotional, and real tools for trusting God through anxiety, press play, then subscribe, share, and leave a review so more women can find this journey.

Fruit doesn't grow because you clench your fists and try harder. Fruit grows because you stay connected. Day 27 of our 31 Days of Obedience devotional series lands in John 15:5, where Jesus makes it simple and unmistakable: He's the vine, we're the branches, and apart from Him we can do nothing. That truth confronts the hustle we sneak into our faith and replaces it with a better goal: abiding in Christ until love becomes the evidence. We talk through what “the fruit of obedience” really means and why obedience isn't about proving you belong to Jesus. It's about letting your relationship with Him produce something real in your life. We connect love, the fruit of the Spirit, and Jesus' words in John 14:15, “If you love me, obey my commandments.” Then we hold it up next to Matthew 7's reminder that a tree is known by its fruit, meaning our actions reveal what we're rooted in.You'll leave with a reflection question that gets practical fast: where is God asking you to let His love become visible through your obedience? We also pray a simple, powerful prayer for the day and name real-world examples like forgiving instead of retaliating, being patient when you feel irritated, serving without needing recognition, giving generously, listening well, apologizing, and choosing gentleness in a hard moment. Day 26: Obedience In Trials

Pressure has a way of making us question everything, especially God's heart and our own ability to keep obeying. Today's devotional is Day 26 of our 31 Days of Obedience journey, and we're naming the kind of surrender most of us want to skip: obedience in trials. I'm reading Romans 5:3–5 and slowing down long enough to see what God is actually producing when life feels hard, confusing, or unfair. We talk about endurance as obedience stretched over time, what obedience looks like when the circumstance doesn't change, and why trials can refine our faith instead of destroying it. I also bring in Numbers 23:19 to confront a subtle struggle many of us carry: when pain, pressure, and past experiences cause us to attribute human flaws to a God who has already said He isn't like people. God doesn't lie. God doesn't change His mind. And He hasn't stopped being faithful just because life got difficult. You'll leave with a reflection question to journal, voice note, or talk through with a friend, plus a practical obedience step you can do today: obey what you know while you wait for what you don't know. We'll also practice attaching God's character to our actions with a simple framework: “Because God is __, I will __.” If you're longing for Christian encouragement, spiritual growth, and a steady way to follow God in hard seasons, this one is for you. If you were inspired, empowered, or uplifted, please subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a rating and review so more women can find the podcast.

Day 25: Obeying the Prompting of Holy Spirit

Your pace might be the reason you feel unsure about God's guidance. Today's devotional takes us into Day 25 of 31 Days of Obedience and anchors us in Galatians 5:25, where Paul makes it plain: if we live by the Spirit, we also keep in step with the Spirit. That one line confronts a common habit for women of faith, asking the Holy Spirit to “lead” while we quietly insist on staying in control. We talk about what staying in step really demands: sensitivity to recognize the Spirit's prompting and surrender to respond when God interrupts our plans. Sometimes the Holy Spirit sounds dramatic, but most of the time it's simple and specific: call her, don't say that, apologize, wait, turn that off, be quiet. We also get honest about the difference between being led and asking God to come along with what we already decided, and why surrender means we don't pre-negotiate our yes.Discernment matters, too. Not every thought is the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit of God never leads us contrary to the Word of God. We walk through why knowing Scripture is essential for Spirit-led decision-making and how obedience becomes clearer as we learn God's character. You'll leave with a reflection question to journal and a practical step: 10 minutes of intentional quiet, writing down what comes to mind, testing it against Scripture, and taking one concrete step of obedience. If this encourages you, subscribe, leave a rating and review, and share it with a friend who wants to hear God clearly and live with steady faith.

    Day 24: Obedience and Identity

Obedience gets hard when you're trying to obey from a shaky self-image. Day 24 of 31 Days of Obedience goes straight to the root: identity. I read 1 Peter 2:9 in the NLT and sit with the kind of truth that doesn't tiptoe around our feelings, “You are a chosen people… God's very own possession.” If you've been shaped by labels, roles, relationship wounds, or the pressure to perform, this is a reset for your soul and your habits. We talk about why so many “obedience problems” are actually identity problems. Instead of forcing ourselves into better behavior, we let the Word of God teach us how to see ourselves again. When my significance comes from Christ, I don't have to perform for people. When my security is in Christ, I don't have to compromise to belong. When my safety is in Christ, I can obey even when obedience feels uncomfortable. This is practical Christian living, not theory, and it's especially for women of faith who want consistency without losing tenderness. You'll get a reflection question to journal and a simple spiritual discipline you can use today: find it, write it, live from it. Pick one identity from 1 Peter 2:9 and turn it into a real decision before the day ends, “Because I am ___, today I will ___.” Then we pray for renewed minds, courage to be set apart, and freedom from fear. Gratitude can feel impossible when you're disappointed, stressed, or carrying something you never asked for, so we're getting painfully practical about what it means to give thanks without pretending everything is fine. Day 23 of 31 Days of Obedience centers on “the obedience of gratitude” and the grounding truth of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances. I unpack why that wording matters, how gratitude can honor what hurts, and why choosing thanks is less about personality and more about spiritual maturity. We talk about the difference between giving thanks for all things and giving thanks in all things. I'm not asking you to deny grief, minimize betrayal, or slap a smile on real pain. I'm inviting you to look for what is still true about God in the middle of it, because when we take our minds off the frustration and set our eyes on Jesus, we make room for peace that surpasses understanding. This is faith-based gratitude as a daily practice of intentional surrender, especially when your feelings are loud. You'll leave with a reflection question you can journal, voice note, or talk through with a friend: what circumstance is making gratitude difficult right now, and what can you still genuinely thank God for in the middle of it? Then we take a concrete step with “interrupt the complaint,” plus a simple end-of-day practice of writing three specific things you're grateful for and telling God why. Purity gets talked about like it's mostly external, but I'm inviting you to go deeper with me. Day 22 of 31 Days of Obedience centers on obedience and purity through Psalm 51:10–12, where David's prayer asks God for a clean heart, a renewed spirit, restored joy, and the willingness to obey. That word willing is a checkpoint for every woman of faith who wants consistent Christian living without performing for people. We walk through a hard but freeing question: Is there anything in my heart, thoughts, or motives that I've been willing to tolerate privately that I know God is asking me to surrender? I name the kinds of hidden battles that can quietly shape our choices, resentment, jealousy, pride, lust, comparison, bitterness, selfish ambition, even the desire for recognition. Obedience isn't only doing the “right” thing. God wants access to the reasons underneath what we do, the why beneath our yes. Then we take a practical step you can do today: five quiet minutes with God. I'll guide you to pray, listen, and respond without justifying, minimizing, or condemning yourself. Confess specifically, surrender it, and ask God to purify what He reveals, your intentions, imagination, words, anger, ambitions, or motives for serving. Purity is not only what we refuse to do; it's what we allow God to remove so what's holy remains. If this devotional helps you, subscribe to the Intentional Woman Podcast, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find this journey. Spiritual warfare is real, but it is not always what we think it is. Sometimes the fiercest battle is not happening around us, it is happening in us, right at the point of belief, trust, and surrender. We're walking through Day 21 of 31 Days of Obedience with a focused devotional from James 4:7-8 (NLT): “Humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you.” I unpack why the order matters. If I want to resist the enemy, I can't skip submission. Humility is not weakness, it is alignment, and alignment creates spiritual authority. When I stop trying to win in my own strength and choose obedience, I step into the protection and power God provides. We also talk honestly about the enemy's strategy to attack faith through unbelief. When belief erodes, trust crumbles, and self-reliance takes over. That is when temptation gets louder and the inner war gets exhausting. I point us back to Jesus in the wilderness and the steady way he resists, anchored in God's word, until the devil flees. You'll leave with a reflection question to help you discern what you're facing and a practical obedience step you can pray today. I'm Nicole Hubb, and day 20 of my 31 Days of Obedience series speaks straight to the ache of feeling unseen, unheard, and overlooked while you're still trying to live with consistency and faith. We sit in Matthew 6:1-4 and talk about why Jesus warns us not to do good deeds for admiration. I unpack how easy it is to slip into performance, especially in a social media culture built on highlight reels, and how that pressure can send us into comparison and self-doubt. Together, we bring it back to the heart: obedience in the Kingdom is doing what God said to do, even when nobody claps, comments, or celebrates it.I also share a grounding truth for emotional health and spiritual growth: feelings come from God, but they can't lead you. When obedience feels invisible, the Spirit steadies us with what's true, God's eyes are always on you, and your reward comes from the Father who sees in secret. You'll leave with a reflection question about what you're asking God to affirm in you, plus a simple “big three” practical step to build confidence through follow-through.If this encouraged you, subscribe, leave a rating and review, and share it with another woman who needs strength for the hidden places. Your finances can reveal what you trust, what you fear, and what you truly worship. Today we're getting honest about obedience and money, because this is one of the easiest places to hold back while still trying to look faithful everywhere else.We anchor our time in Proverbs 3:9–10, “Honor the Lord with your wealth,” and talk about what it means to give God the best part of what we produce whether we're in a season of overflow or a season where the budget feels tight and there's no wiggle room. We also confront a key warning from Scripture: money isn't the problem, but the love of money can quietly become an idol. If our bank account, lifestyle, or status starts dictating our choices more than God's voice, it's a heart issue, not a math issue. And if God can't touch our resources, we're not fully surrendered. We also speak to the woman who carries a scarcity story. If you grew up with lack, it can feel dangerous to give, trust, or release control. But God invites us into open hands, where we can let go when He says give and receive when He says increase, stewarding everything as seed for Kingdom impact. “Don't just pretend to love others. Really love them.” That line from Romans 12 isn't a sweet quote for a wall art print, it's a standard for how we show up when relationships get messy, tense, or simply tiring. I'm Nicole Hubb, and Day 18 of 31 Days of Obedience is a short devotional with a big assignment: let obedience shape the way we love people.I read Romans 12:9–18 in full because the Scripture does the heavy lifting. We talk about genuine affection, honoring others, staying patient in trouble, practicing hospitality, blessing people who hurt us, and refusing the cycle of payback. If you've been asking God for better Christian relationships, deeper faith, and more peace in your home, this passage gives language and direction. I also press into a hard but freeing truth: success in the kingdom of God is obeying God. When we do all we can to live at peace with everyone, we can release the outcome to our good Father. Then I offer a reflection question that changes everything: what's your favorite attribute of God, and are you being that for others? Mercy, faithfulness, patience, kindness, justice, compassion, whichever you admire most, that's what you're invited to give away. I close with a practical obedience step to honor someone you're in relationship with, plus a prayer that starts where it matters most: loving our closest neighbors, often the people in our own home. Today's devotional is a gentle but direct reset for women of faith who feel stuck between “I'm trying to obey God” and “why does this still feel so hard?”We sit with Psalm 40:8 and the phrase that reframes everything: obedience is not burdensome, it births joy and alignment with God's will. I talk honestly about the kind of suffering that confuses us the most, the moments when we can't point to a clear misstep, yet we still feel disappointed, overlooked, or misunderstood. Then we name what God may be inviting us to do: redefine success. In the kingdom of God, success is not the outcome you can control. Success is the moment you obey what God tells you to do.From there, we get practical. We explore why joy often slips away when we don't know God's promises, and why knowing Scripture is a spiritual discipline that strengthens your faith and consistency. Fear is loud, persistent, and weirdly convincing, and it often charges us a higher price than we realize. Today we're back with Day 16 of 31 Days of Obedience, sitting in Luke 9:23–25 where Jesus calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow Him. We talk honestly about how obedience can feel like loss, especially when we're trying to protect our plans, our comfort, or our reputation. But we also name the promise on the other side: obedience may require sacrifice, and it leads to eternal reward. As we slow down with the Word, we zoom in on what we believe is the greatest cost we pay to follow Jesus: fear. Fear of failure. Fear of not being enough. Fear that God will not show up. Fear of people and their opinions. We connect 1 John 4:18 to real life, perfect love casts out fear, because fear keeps us bracing for punishment instead of resting in God's character. We also bring in Proverbs 29:25 on the trap of fearing people, and we remind ourselves that God's love is safe, steady, and identity-giving.You'll get a reflection prompt to journal or talk out with a friend: imagine your life without fear, then ask what you would do tomorrow without hesitation. The smallest act of obedience can feel pointless when you are tired, behind, or wishing you had more to show for your faith. Tonight's devotional lands right in that real-life tension as I record late and face the same question many of us wrestle with: does a small “yes” even count? With Zechariah 4:10 as our anchor, we let God correct our instinct to despise small beginnings and we remember that He rejoices to see the work begin. We talk about why obedience is not about impressing God, it is about surrender. I walk through the rebuilding context behind Zechariah's words and connect it to modern faith and everyday consistency: rebuilding habits, trust, purpose, and spiritual discipline one step at a time. When we demand the whole staircase, we often delay the step in front of us. But God often gives direction in increments, and what feels insignificant to us can be the seed of discipline, character, relationships, capacity, and opportunity that we cannot yet see.You will leave with a clear reflection question and a practical challenge you can do right away: choose one thing you already know you need to do, set a timer for 10 minutes, and begin. Starting can be the obedience, even if finishing comes later. We sit with Genesis 22:2 and talk honestly about why “radical obedience” can feel unorthodox, costly, and even scary. Then we make a key turn: radical obedience isn't mainly about what God might take from you. It's about whether you trust Him above all, even when the math doesn't math.I connect Abraham's test to our real-life obedience in modern faith, especially for women walking through waiting seasons, big transitions, and tender hopes. God is immutable and faithful, and the Scriptures give us witness after witness of a promise-keeping God. When we remember who He is, we stop obsessing over what we're losing and start asking a better question: Lord, what do You want to do through my obedience? I'm grounding our time in Isaiah 40:31 and the promise that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength, run and not grow weary, and walk and not faint. I talk honestly about why waiting can feel like suffering, especially when it exposes our discomfort with dependence. We may pray for new strength, but not expect to actually need it. Together, we reframe waiting as an act of obedience and a form of spiritual preparation, where God trains our faith and deepens our trust. Day 12 of 31 Days of Obedience is a short devotional with a big question behind it: do we treat God's commands like suggestions when they stretch our comfort? We sit with Joshua 1:9 in the New Living Translation and slow down long enough to hear the weight of God's words: “This is my command, be strong and courageous… For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Then we make courage practical by naming its different forms: physical courage, moral courage, emotional courage, and intellectual courage. That last one gets real as we talk about questioning old assumptions, including a simple pot roast story that exposes how easily we repeat patterns without remembering why they started in the first place. We also clarify what courage is not. Courage is not the absence of fear, and it is not reckless or impulsive. Biblical obedience is purposeful. It counts the cost, moves in truth, and trusts God's presence. When life hurts and God feels silent, obedience can feel impossible, especially if you're the kind of woman who needs things to make sense. We're continuing 31 Days of Obedience with a deeply personal conversation on obeying without understanding, grounded in Proverbs 3:5-6: trusting the Lord with all your heart and refusing to lean on your own understanding. I'm walking through why God's wisdom often asks for movement before clarity, and why acknowledging him is not passive, it's active surrender. I also share a tender testimony from my own story, marking two years since my mother passed away. Grief has forced me to confront questions about timing, justice, and the pain of losing the one person who felt guaranteed to be here. If you've ever wondered whether you're “allowed” to grieve as a believer, we talk about what Scripture says about mourning with hope, how God is near to the brokenhearted, and how comfort can meet you in the mess, not after you clean it up. We get practical with a reflection prompt and a simple obedience step you can take today: practicing the words “God, I trust you” when worry, anxiety, and confusion rise. If you're navigating loss, heartbreak, betrayal, or a season that feels upside down, let this be a place where faith meets consistency and where surrender becomes a real measure of success. Day 10: Obedience Over Hustle

Hustle can look like ambition on the outside while it feels like anxiety on the inside. Today I'm holding up a different measure of success for Christian women: Obedience. Day 10 of 31 Days of Obedience is all about choosing surrender over striving and trusting that God can do more with our rest-filled faithfulness than we can do with endless grinding. We sit with Psalm 127:1–2 and let it challenge the habit of getting up early, staying up late, and carrying life like everything depends on us. If the Lord isn't building the house, the labor is in vain, and that truth isn't meant to shame us, it's meant to free us. I also share a real season where my schedule ran from before sunrise to late at night, and how God used His Word to show me that constant “go, go, go” isn't the life He's calling me to live long term. Then we get practical. I offer a reflection question to help you spot where hustle is stealing your peace: what's taking your time, capacity, and mental bandwidth but not producing the fruit of the Spirit? We connect that to Matthew 6:31–33, because worry-driven work can quietly reveal what we believe about God's love and provision. Your obedience step is simple but powerful: practice saying no so your yes stays aligned with God, not pressure, people, or fear.If you're ready for a faith-based reset, press play, share this with a friend who's tired, and then subscribe, rate, and leave a review so more women can find this daily devotional journey.

Day 9: Obedience When God Redirects

Your plans made sense. You prayed, you prepared, you did your part and then God redirected you anyway. Day 9 of 31 Days of Obedience sits right in that tension and names it for what it is: a moment that can either deepen your trust or expose what you've been clinging to. I'm Nicole Hubb, and I'm walking with you through daily surrender, one honest yes at a time.We start with Proverbs 16:9 and let it say what it says: you can plan, but the Lord guides your steps. That truth is comforting until the “guided steps” lead somewhere you did not choose. I talk through why redirection is not always correction, and why a change of direction doesn't automatically mean you heard God wrong. Sometimes He led you there for a season, and obedience now looks like following Him somewhere else.We also look at Acts 16, where the Holy Spirit blocks Paul and Silas from going to Asia and sends them to Macedonia instead. Then we get practical with a heart-check question you can journal on: are you surrendered to God's will, or attached to how you expect His will to unfold? We end by practicing release before action and praying for open hands, open ears, and the courage to move, wait, or stand still when God leads. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a rating or review so more women can find these devotionals. What's one area where you feel God redirecting you right now?

    Day 8: Obedience in Uncertainty

Obedience sounds inspiring until God asks you to move without giving you the full map. Day 8 of 31 Days of Obedience goes straight into that tension, grounding us in Hebrews 11:8 where Abraham obeys God's call and leaves home “without knowing where he was going.” If you've been waiting on more details before you take the next faithful step, this devotional meets you right there.I talk through why uncertainty isn't just a problem to solve, but often a place where trust gets revealed and strengthened. We look at how trials can expose where we're trying to do life without God, and why scripture is the steady source of wisdom when emotions and circumstances shift. James warns that doubt leads to instability and indecision, so we get practical about what it means to ask for God's wisdom and receive it in faith. Then we sit with a deep question: what if God were sovereign but not good, or good but not sovereign? That contrast helps us see why both truths are essential for real peace. We connect Romans 8:28 and Numbers 23:19 to the character of God, and I leave you with a reflection question plus a simple daily practice to notice an outcome that points to God's goodness or sovereignty even in the moments that first irritate or confuse you.If this encourages you, subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find the podcast. What is hardest for you to trust in uncertainty: God's goodness or God's control?

Rest sounds simple until you're the one holding everything together. If you've ever felt guilty for slowing down, or scared that if you stop, something will fall apart, this devotional is for you. We're in Day 7 of our 31 Days of Obedience journey, and we're putting a bold, healing stake in the ground: rest is obedience, not laziness. We sit with Matthew 11:28–30 and Jesus' invitation to the weary, then we unpack the part many of us rush past: “Take my yoke upon you.” We talk about what Jesus' yoke actually means, why being connected to Him doesn't remove every responsibility but does lessen the weight, and how this kind of rest is deeper than sleep or a weekend off. It's soul rest, the kind that steadies you in pressure, decision fatigue, and seasons that feel too heavy. We also look at God's design for rhythm and sufficiency, how constant busyness and endless input can steal peace, and why spiritual disciplines like prayer, time in the Word, fellowship, confession, and fasting aren't extra tasks. They're pathways into lasting rest and renewed strength. You'll leave with a clear reflection question to journal and one practical step: set aside 8 to 15 minutes today to intentionally enter rest with Jesus. If this encouraged you, subscribe, rate, and review the podcast, and share it with another woman who needs permission to breathe. What would change if you stopped resisting the yoke and let Jesus share the load?

People pleasing has a way of disguising itself as “wisdom” or “waiting,” but it often looks like shrinking back from the very thing God told us to do. Today I'm continuing our 31 Days of Obedience journey with Day 6: Obedience in ministry, where faith meets consistency and success looks like daily surrender. If you've ever questioned your calling, worried about how you'll be received, or hesitated to use your spiritual gifts, this devotional is for you.We sit in 1 Peter 4:10-11 and get honest about what ministry is really for: God has given each of us gifts, and we're meant to steward them well to serve one another. Whether you're gifted in speaking, helping, leading, or encouragement, the strength and energy come from God, and the point is always His glory, not our image. I also share how Galatians 1:10 keeps me grounded when fear of rejection shows up, because if pleasing people is my goal, I'm not serving Christ. You'll hear practical encouragement for breaking the fear of man (Proverbs 29:25), letting God's perfect love cast out fear, and releasing the need to measure faithfulness by metrics. I'll leave you with a reflection question that exposes what's driving your hesitation, plus one simple obedience step you can do today: reach out to someone and ask, “How can I be praying for you today?” then actually pray.If this strengthens you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more women of faith can learn to live intentionally.

Day 5: Obedience in the Marketplace

If you've ever obeyed God in your career and still felt like you “failed” because the offer didn't come through, you're not alone. Day five of 31 Days of Obedience goes straight to the place where pressure hits hard: the marketplace. I'm talking about your job, your business, your clients, your coworkers, your income goals and the quiet anxiety that shows up when you're doing the right thing but not getting the result you expected.I ground our time in Colossians 3:23, because it resets the entire motive of our work: do it as though you're working for the Lord rather than for people. From there, we unpack a main idea that can change how you show up Monday morning: work becomes worship when done in obedience and excellence unto God. The marketplace is not outside of God's care or God's influence, it's one of the primary places He forms your trust, your character, and your witness.I also share a real moment from a conversation about job applications that weren't turning into callbacks and the question God pressed on my heart: What is success? When we let Romans 12:2 challenge the world's timeline and metrics, we can embrace a kingdom definition of success that's both simple and freeing: I did what God said. Our only job is to obey, the outcome is on God, and even a no or a not yet can be protection, mercy, and providence. You'll leave with a reflective question to journal and a practical obedience step you can practice immediately at work: be impeccable with your words and always do your best. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find it. What's one area of your work life where you need to release the outcome to God today?

    Day 4: Obedience In Motherhood

Motherhood can be holy and still feel hard. Today we sit with Proverbs 31:26–27 and get honest about what obedience in motherhood looks like when you're tired, overstimulated, and tempted to treat your kids like interruptions instead of assignments from God. We talk about how serving and nurturing your home is not “less than” real purpose. It is a divine calling where faith meets consistency, and where daily surrender becomes a fresh definition of success. We also dig into the power of our words. “When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness” is not a cute quote for the wall, it's a blueprint for Christian parenting. We break down wisdom as applied knowledge, learning your child as an individual, and correcting with love and truth instead of harshness or passive begging. If you've ever struggled to communicate well because you're repeating what you grew up with, we make room for grace and renewal. Then we address a modern trap that steals connection fast: screens. Phones can quietly pull our attention away from family movie time, schoolwork, and the small bids for attention our kids bring all day long. Obedience calls us to be watchful in our household, to ask the Holy Spirit for discernment, and to take one practical step toward our child today, a hug, an affirming word, focused time, or help with what matters to them.If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find this faith-based devotional support for intentional living and Christian motherhood. What is most challenging about mothering in your season right now?

    Day 3: Delayed Obedience

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 21, 2026 11:42 Transcription Available

Delayed obedience rarely looks dramatic. It looks like waiting for the “right time,” asking for one more sign, or telling ourselves we'll get to it when life calms down. On Day 3 of 31 Days of Obedience, we sit with a straightforward verse that doesn't let us hide: James 4:17 says when we know what's right to do and we don't do it, that refusal becomes sin. That one line challenges how we define success, not as achievement, but as daily surrender to God's leading. We also slow down to make an important distinction: every delay is not disobedience. Sometimes God is calling us to wait. But when the instruction is already clear, postponing can become a quiet way of avoiding our yes. We talk about what that avoidance can cost, including progress in spiritual growth and the kind of peace that comes from living aligned with what we say we believe. Then we get practical. We connect obedience to integrity in the small places, the promises we make to ourselves about health, discipline, and follow-through. When our “yes” keeps collapsing, self-trust erodes, and that can spill into how boldly we trust God. With Matthew 5:37 in view, we end with reflective prompts, a simple journaling challenge, and a prayer asking God for strength, wisdom, and a heart that moves swiftly when He speaks. If this devotional encourages you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a quick review so more women can find the 31 Days of Obedience journey.

Your phone is loud, your calendar is louder, and somehow the most important voice can feel the easiest to miss. Day two of our 31 Days of Obedience devotional journey slows everything down and asks one practical, life-changing question: what would happen if you actually created space to hear God clearly today? We anchor in 1 Kings 19:12, where Elijah experiences wind, earthquake, and fire, yet God chooses a gentle whisper. That picture reframes how we look for guidance. I talk about the everyday noise that competes for our attention, from alerts and inboxes to the subtler distractions of fear, insecurity, resentment, and the pressure to “fix” ourselves fast. We also sit with a statement that checks my own obedience meter: God doesn't speak to be heard, He speaks to be obeyed. Then we make it practical. I give you one simple action step for building a stronger quiet time and real spiritual discipline: write down two to three distractions that constantly pull you away, and ask where you're resisting God's leading to remove one of them. We close with prayer for focus, courage, and the grace to lay aside the weights so we can hear God's voice and walk in obedience.Subscribe for the rest of 31 Days of Obedience, share this with a friend who needs clarity, and if this podcast strengthens you, leave a rating and review so more women can find it.

Three years quiet, then one obedient yes and we are back. I'm Nicole Hubb, and I'm returning to the Intentional Woman Podcast without breadcrumbs or buildup because obedience is the point, and it is also the path. We're starting a brand new devotional series, 31 Days of Obedience, created for women of faith who want to live with consistency, clarity, and a steady heart toward God.Day 1 is all about obedience to the call. We sit with John 14:15 that loving Jesus empowers obedience. That single shift changes everything: obedience is not legalism, punishment, or spiritual rule keeping. It is love in motion. I also ground “the call” in what every Christian shares, not just a ministry role, but a life that glorifies God and enjoys Him, shaped by Jesus' commandments in Matthew 22 to love God fully and love our neighbor as ourselves.I share a personal story about finally giving God my yes in college, even though I knew it would cost me something. If you've been hesitating because obedience feels risky, you are not alone. We talk about counting the cost of discipleship, trusting that God does not waste pain, and leaning on Scripture like Romans 8:18 and Jeremiah 29:11 when your faith is being stretched. We close with prayer for strength, courage, and the grace to keep loving when life makes it hard.If this encouraged you, subscribe, rate, and review, then share it with another woman who needs a fresh yes. What is one area where God is asking for your obedience today?

We talk about self-care, dating, setting boundaries and so much more, (plus a cameo from a little special guest). I love the space we have created and I'm looking forward to bringing you more relevant topics, discussions and interviews from woman of faith, next season. Thank you for your support, love ya'll! The Intentional Woman Podcast was LIVE this past Sunday on Facebook continuing the the conversation from Ep.11 about How to Show Up Ready for Homeschool. I had a chat with my friend and sister-in-Christ Natasha Stovall, MSEd who is a previous teacher and lifelong childhood education advocate. She provided such valuable information around developing mindset, vision and systems to create a unique homeschool experience for your family. It was so good, I had to drop the content as a BONUS! Be sure to share this episode with a mom you love.
