My guest is Dr. Mark Bertin, an acclaimed developmental-behavioral pediatrician, assistant professor at New York Medical College, and author specializing in ADHD management. We delve into the world of ADHD, breaking down its complexities and how integrating mindfulness can transform the lives of families grappling with it. Dr. Bertin extensively elaborates on the concept of ADHD as a developmental delay in managing daily life skills such as attention, organization, planning, time management, emotion, and effort. He reaffirms the effectiveness of mindfulness and self-compassion in managing ADHD-related stress and building resilience. Taking a closer look at mindfulness, we explore how being fully present can help parents and children navigate the hurdles that come with ADHD. With mindfulness, parents can become more patient, responsive, and resilient, improving both their own well-being and their child's behavior. We consider the complexities of modern life and school pressures, discussing how a mindful parenting approach can significantly enhance family life. Focusing on the importance of balancing our inherent negativity bias with gratitude and mindfulness, Dr. Bertin shares insights on elevating our general happiness amidst our digital age distractions. As we delve deeper into the trials of parents dealing with ADHD, we examine societal pressures, misunderstandings, and the value of incorporating self-compassion into mindfulness practice. Self-compassion can improve our overall well-being, change our interactions with others, and boost our persistence and patience. Finally, Dr. Bertin advocates for parents to prioritize their needs, be it through mindfulness practices or daily activities that maintain sanity. Parents need to be patient, resilient, and mindful in navigating the unique challenges imposed by ADHD. Ep 241: Cosmic Reiki Energy Healing Activation Meditation

Inspiring You with Henri Hebert

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 2, 2023 25:51

*This meditation is evergreen and can be done for the Full Moon or any other Cosmic event happening. Use the previous episode to check in about what is going on and insert it into this meditation! August 2023 starts and ends with a Full Moon. On August 1st, we have the Aquarius Super Full Moon, and on August 30th, we have the Pisces Super Blue Full Moon. Having two Full Moons in the same calendar month means August will be a time for clearing, and letting go. All that is no longer benefitting us will be up to let go and once we reach the month's end, we will likely find ourselves feeling lighter. The Full Moon in Aquarius is Tuesday, August 1. Known as the Sturgeon Moon, this moon is also a Super Moon and invites us to move forward towards something new, exciting, different and adventurous. The theme is freedom. We want freedom from being trapped in past emotional fear, regret, disappointment, anger, shame, feeling unworthiness, etc. Use Mindfulness tools to become aware and observe these emotions coming up as the intense inspiration to move beyond what holds us back comes into play. Use the cosmic energy to liberate yourself from one thing that you truly feel complete with. It could be an attitude, old habit, a practice or routine or something physical you have been unable to let go of, a relationship, something in your physical environment, etc. If you change one thing in your life (for realsy), it will begin to influence everything else that needs to change, for the highest good. The other aspect of this moon is the support for healthy boundaries. Examine where your boundaries are, especially around your areas of challenge. Are they too fixed? Too loose? Outdated? In need of resetting? Call in balance between what you need and what everyone else needs. You can say “No” as long as it is not a triggered reaction - make sure to use tools to support yourself, if you become triggered and to then wait to be in a space of response. Desired motivation focused your personal well being and self care with love, compassion and support. If there is frustraiton, impatience, emotional tension, pause, take a step back and take a breath, zoom out and use your tools (energy healing, meditation) and when you can look at the situation from a place of neutrality and personal responsibility. You also have an opportunity to reach down into your own inner power, truth and strength, and to manifest it physically through inspired action, adventure and beneficial choice. Be willing to allow the past stay in the past and move towards embracing the future with courage, joy and inspiration for what could be. Think of this as the door that is opening and allowing you to pivot in a new to bring in new experiences and outcomes. From August 23rd, both Venus and Mercury will be in retrograde. In fact, we will have a total of six major cosmic players in retrograde throughout August, with Venus and Mercury being the strongest.  All of this retrograde energy could create a heavy feeling. We may feel like we are looping, or perhaps having to go back over things we thought we had already handled. Our patience may be wearing thin, but there will not be a lot we can do to make things move any faster.  When we have a large amount of retrograde energy coursing through the cosmic skies, it is almost in our best interest to move slowly. Learn to go with the pace that the Universe is asking is to be in flow with. And use your tools - this will support you being able to stay in harmony, groundedness and alignment. Much love and Reiki blessings.

Here are 5 tips on how to determine where your anger comes from.Show Notes:Looking back, I think a lot of my anger stemmed from not being truly seen by others, not getting enough attention from my parents, feeling like I couldn't ask for help and failing to hit my own (and others) unrealistic expectations. And I'm not saying I am directly BLAMING these things on why I experienced anger, but it definitely contributed.I'm not sure what spurred the desire to talk about anger this week, but I know it's an important topic. A lot of us have anger we don't understand or feel like we don't know how to control, so I know it's always helpful to discuss it & help ourselves be more in tune with our own anger. This week, I plan to talk about how we determine where our anger comes from & what we can do to manage our anger. Today we will start with the former. As with most things, the journey to discovering where a mindset and/or behavior comes from can take time. If you're new to self-awareness, it could take a lot longer than you want because you have to figure out the best way for you to become more cognizant of what you're thinking & doing & then spending time better understanding it. But even if you're not new to being self-aware, if it's a subject you haven't breached before, you might need more time to dig into it & allow yourself to be honest about it all. Just know that you can take your time. When it comes to understanding where your anger comes from, you're going to need to look into multiple sources. And I'll share those tips on what to do for that discovery, but first I want to mention that sometimes we can see the need for anger in our lives and might use these reasons as excuses to be angry more than we might need to be.Sometimes anger can be seen as necessary when setting boundaries with others & asserting ourselves when expressing our needs. I think that if we aren't aware of how we're acting, this can take on an aggressive tone. Something to be aware of. Classically, some opt to use anger as an expression to release pent-up emotions & be free from emotional burdens. As long as you're doing this in a way that doesn't hurt someone else, you should be good. The one I find most interesting is how anger can be used to validate ourselves when we feel wronged or mistreated. This can be really helpful to know if we typically hide away our emotions or feel we can't express anger. You know I believe we should acknowledge & accept all emotions, but that doesn't mean taking any actions with that anger. Here are 5 tips on How to Determine Where Your Anger Comes From:Identify Your Triggers. Reflect on Childhood Experiences. Use Mindfulness as a Base Line. Determine How Often You Project or Blame Others. Ask Yourself What You're Afraid of.Thank you for listening, downloading & sharing the show! In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) with Lucinda Sykes about in these unstable times, society needs the full participation of Women 50+, and women need their best sleep! For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/Lucinda-Sykes   Highlights from today's episode include: Lucinda Sykes We're not trying to change our experience. We're not trying to have a better experience, we are simply witnessing the experience without judging, and that is mindfulness. And oddly, some would say we are born into mindfulness, although it's not something that children do on purpose.   Lucinda Sykes So, consciousness, mindfulness has an agency to it. And we bring mindfulness to our sleepless state. And often things transform, just because we're paying attention as well. Mindfulness can be a vehicle or a container, within which we can pop in and affirmation. Or we can pop in a mantra. Or we can do some mindful stretching, some breath, work and so on. And all contained within, within mindfulness.   Lucinda Sykes It's often what's really disturbing us, in our sleeplessness is not the sleepless state ourselves itself, but rather the story we are making about the sleepless.   ABOUT LUCINDA SYKES: Graduated medicine at University of Toronto 1997, then to family practice with a special focus on psychotherapy. In 1997, I established Meditation for Health clinic in Toronto. We taught medical programs of mindfulness to more than 6000 patients until COVID forced us to end in-person teaching in 2020. I retired from licensed medical practice this year, and I've begun a new direction as a sleep coach for Women 50+. Women have not been well-served by conventional medicine. In particular, they've been poorly informed about sleep self-care, and they've been put at serious risk with medicine's promotion of sleep medication. Mindfulness and meditation aren't just about spirituality or stress relief. In today's world of constant demands and digital distractions, mindfulness is about making your moments truly matter and living up to your full potential. It's about your power to put your attention where you want it to be and not on what someone else dangles on a screen in front of you. This is just one reason why Tony Robbins incorporates a gratitude meditation into his daily morning routine to prime his mind every single day. If you're familiar with any of Tony Robbins peak performance strategies, you know that your ability to maintain a peak state is a key component of living the life you desire. Your state is affected by the way you use your physical body, your ability to direct your mind's focus, and the language or meaning you give to your experiences. Knowing this, it's no wonder that we aren't able to be the best version of ourselves when we are in a stressed state. The incoherence of our head and heart, the jitters in our nervous system and body makes us less effective and less resourceful. In this 1-hour episode you'll hear from Tony Robbins, his wife Sage Robbins, and podcast host Mary B. as they discuss one of the most valuable skills to maximize your mindset and prime yourself for power, clarity, concentration, and focused attention.   SHOW NOTES [0:00] Hi it's Tony Robbins… [1:15] I used to think meditation was a waste of time [2:00] We don't experience life, we experience the life we pay attention to [2:39] Tony and wife Sage and traveled the globe together for 22 years [3:30] A podcast on meditation?  I have no patience! I just don't have any patience to be mindful. We can all use a little patience, right? So, the topic is about learning how to be more patient with mindfulness. We always feel like we need patience when it comes to things in our life. Standing at the grocery store- waiting in line. Driving down the road with the person in front of us driving way too slow. ( that's mine) or becoming impatient with the people around you, especially during these holiday times. How impatient are YOU waiting for that Thanksgiving dinner? Mindfulness puts patients into perspective. It helps us get out of our heads so we can see the bigger picture. You know, the is-this-worth the frustration I'm causing myself or others right now perspective. Is it worth getting angry, upset, or annoyed? Most often it is not. Because we are trying to change what is. And what is-is acceptance. Patience is a byproduct of time. We often feel rushed, annoyed or like we are “waiting” for something to happen. In order for us to have patience issues, we often have a time issue- and it's usually a concern over time we feel we are losing or going to lose. Patience can only exist if you have time that you reflect it upon. It's part of the thinking mind. Here is the interesting thing about mindfulness. There is no “time” issue in mindfulness.  When you're mindful you're in a space of acceptance and openness. You're in the here and now- you're not worried about the past or concerned about the future. So the next time you want to feel more patient, become mindful.  Take 30 seconds to become mindful. Take a big deep breath and exhale.Start off slow. Just follow your breath. Let it gently guide you into the here and now. And notice during that moment, the patient part of you will fade away. Thank you for listening. Take another deep breath and exhale. So, before I go, listen closely and remember this ONE one thing.Your future is a thought, your past has passed, but your now is always here.Be mindful-one minute at a time.Hugs CherylSponsors and Links MentionedShownotes: One Minute of Mindfulness MasteringMindfulness.net/coachingComing Soon-Mastering Mindfulness Membership Enjoy this FREE mini-meditation to help you breathe into mindfulness. In this episode, we are going to continue our series on Meditation and Mindfulness, and today we are going to focus on how to use Mindfulness for intrusive thoughts and unwanted thoughts. Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment in a nonjudgmental way. It involves our ability to consciously decide to embrace and accept what is currently happening, with our thoughts, our feelings, our bodily sensations, or our surrounding environment. If you're someone who wrestles with unwanted and intrusive thoughts it is tempting to try mindfulness to “fix” your thoughts. But in this episode, I want to help you understand mindfulness from a much higher perspective. Remember that practicing mindfulness is in many ways about self-discovery and I hope that this new perspective, it can open up more opportunities for finding a higher level of inner peace. ________ Download your FREE Meditation
