I wonder if men knew that bragging about how strong your significant other was by staying in a relationship with someone is NOT a flex. Every relationship has their ups and downs. However, if you saw that by stepping over my boundaries multiple times and being okay with that is crazy work...........................How do we justify bad behavior time and time again? Men and some women, please understand that the mental health breakdowns that occur when you are betrayed can last forever.....................Follow the blog and on socials Toitimeblog

In this podcast episode, we delve into the nuanced topic of "struggle love" – a term that has gained traction in discussions about romantic relationships. We explore the concept's merits and drawbacks, shedding light on its complexities and implications. Beginning with an examination of the term itself, we define "struggle love" as the notion of enduring hardships within a romantic relationship with the belief that these challenges strengthen the bond between partners. From there, we systematically dissect the pros and cons associated with this ideology. On the positive side, we discuss how facing adversity together can foster resilience, deepen emotional connections, and cultivate a sense of loyalty and commitment. Drawing from psychological research and real-life examples, we illustrate how overcoming obstacles can lead to personal growth and mutual understanding within relationships. However, our analysis doesn't shy away from addressing the potential pitfalls of "struggle love." We explore how romanticizing hardships may normalize unhealthy dynamics, perpetuate toxic behaviors, and undermine individual well-being. Through candid conversations and expert insights, we examine the fine line between healthy challenges and detrimental dysfunction within relationships. Moreover, we consider the broader societal implications of glorifying struggle in romantic partnerships, questioning its compatibility with modern values of equality, respect, and self-care. By critically evaluating the concept of "struggle love," we aim to equip listeners with the knowledge and perspective necessary to navigate their own relationships consciously. Tune in to gain a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding "struggle love" and to explore its implications for modern romance. Join us as we engage in a thought-provoking discussion that balances insight with introspection, shedding light on one of the most debated topics in contemporary relationship dynamics.

Scroll for 5 minutes on any social media platform and you'll come across someone saying they don't want a “struggle love”. We see so much of horribly toxic relationships, the contrasting picture perfect couple leaves little room for a grey area. In dating, people often feel like it has to be all or nothing with not much space for lessons, growth, and challenging their perspectives in love. In reality, each connection we make serves a purpose and teaches us something valuable we can use once we connect to our potential forever partner. The notion of avoiding “struggle love” at all costs can quickly send you in a stagnant drag of never learning to navigate uncomfortable spaces in love, never having to communicate issues, and never really knowing what you want. Let's get into it.
Today's session we will discuss the modern day perspective of how a lot of people view and glorify the ideology of struggle love and in turn use it to manipulate the value of someone else's love and inner strength. #letstalkaboutit #behindcloseddoorssessions

I didn't know my socialization as a black girl meant that as a woman I would expect little from men and settle for even less. I had no idea that I was conditioned to accept 'struggle love' relationships. That is, I believed that mistreatment, emotional and psychological abuse, disrespect, neglect, even cheating were to be expected. Consequently, I tolerated all manner of abuse, disrespect, neglect, pain, and betrayal from men. But not anymore. In episode S2 12, I talk about some of the 'struggle love' relationships that I endured, what was at the root of this proclivity, and how self-love and healing have changed the game. Is it normal for women to be hurt repeatedly in the process of loving? In this podcast episode, Keshia Rice strongly disagrees with women glorifying struggle love or a relationship where one partner, especially the woman, succumbs to stress due to her partner's actions or inactions in the course of the relationship. If women keep on glorifying struggle love, then that equates to normalizing toxic relationships, says Keshia. Check out www.keshiarice.com for more tips on how women can avoid being in unhealthy and toxic relationships.

Let's get straight to the point. The very thought of "shooting your shot" has a clear meaning—making your desires about another person known to said person. They are the forbidden crushes that our parents tell us to ignore in place of academic success, especially if you grew up in an immigrant household. It's the 5 stages of denial, a learned practice we've become way too familiar with in navigating our emotions. But what if I told you that the act of shooting your shot is so much bigger than you think? And why has it been painted as taboo? As risqué? As BOLD? It's because going after what you want in relationships and love is one of the most powerful moves you can ever make. The nerve-wracking, stomach-turning, gut-tumbling realization that you like someone is a sure sign of your growing humanity and your acceptance of it. Honoring that pull, that rush, that eye-dilating fear to reach out means affirming your ability to want something and open a world of self-trust and confidence. In this week's episode of the VODPOD, I sit down with my very close friend Amanda to unpack why "shooting your shot" is put below the pursuit of success and how our upbringing and culture view's on relationship building can make or break our courage to go after what we want. We dive straight into the "how," take a chance on all kinds of love (romantic, platonic, familial, etc.) and hold nothing back. Even though this episode was recorded in February, six months later it feels like a warm and special letter from the past. As we start to see the world open up, let's have the boldness to step out of ourselves, our fears, and our worries, and to instead step into the power that voicing our truth gives us. If you are looking for an honest and raw conversation on resisting struggle love, learning vulnerability, stopping self-sabotage, and making the first move, then this episode is for you.p.s. Amanda and I finally did meet in April and again this summer after a year of connecting virtually!! **Stat check: The average person has 60,000 thoughts per day, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The VODPOD is all about centering voices and stories of Generation Z authentically. As voices of disruption, we recognize that vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness, and embrace storytelling in a way that sparks thought, inspiration, action, and conversation. Every time that you disrupt, you step into a power that allows you to create, uplift, and empower yourself and others.LIVE DISRUPTED: Questions to ask yourself after listening to this episode:In what areas of my life have I been getting in my own way by not going after what I want?Who taught me about love and relationship building? What truth exists in what I was taught? How can I start stepping into my power this month? What does shooting my shot look like in this season of becoming?Join and connect with the community on Instagram @deb_olatunji, the podcast page, and the website!
