What's Going On Chicago is my take on what is really going on in Chicago sports. What happened, needs to happen, going to happen, etc.
The Bears end the season and begin the New Year with a win! The 11 game loosing streak against the Green Bay Packers comes to an end. Cairo Santos ones again becomes the hero with the game winning kick, sending fans and players into a wonderful celebration. Now the search for the head coach begins. With more than 10 coaches interviewed, the Bears need to move quickley before their top canidate is taken by another team.
The Chicago Bears lose 2 more games during the holiday season and there's not much joy at Hallas Hall. The Chicago Bears seem to be thinking about vacation and forget there's one more game left in the season. Not only is it the last game of the season, but it is against their archrivals the Green Bay Packers, who have a locked playoff spot whether it's seed 7 or 6, this is against your number one rival. For a team that has lost its focus, they need to be 100% zoned in. Is it too much to ask for the Bears to be 100% focused on this last game of the season? Possibly, however, with the holiday season over, the New Year doesn't seem to have much more magic for the Chicago Bears organization.
The Chicago Bears lose 8 straight, and cannot get out of their own way. Terrible play calling, as well as terrible performance by the Chicago Bears team, have brought them to their second worst losing streak in franchise history. Do the Bears think their season is already over, and this is the offseason, because their performance shows a lack of effort. Even though the Bears are home against the Detroit Lions and they have their own amount of injuries, it seems unlikely the Bears will win, but maybe there will be a Christmas miracle!
The Chicago Bears had no fight, no offense, no respect for the game. Their supposed great defense let up 38 points. Unfortunately for the new interim head coach, Thomas Brown, he was embarrassed against the San Francisco 49ers. With the offensive line this bad, and a defense that seems to have given up, the Bears are going to have one heck of a time trying to slow down a very good Minnesota Vikings defense in their home stadium. Something needs to change, and we'll see what Thomas Brown might do differently at U.S. bank stadium.
Bears lose six straight after falling to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day! For the first time in the Bears history, they fired a head coach mid-season, as they showed Matt Eberflus the door after another coaching blunder. As Thomas Brown will now take over the head coaching job for the Bears, he gives a breath of fresh air, and there seems to be a new feeling at Halas Hall. Can the new defensive coordinator, and new head coach change things as the team heads to San Francisco? The 49ers are banged up but are still in the hunt for a wild card playoff spot. The Bears head to a very tough Levi stadium to try and seek their first win since their bye week.
The Bears can't make their comeback count as the offense goes three and out, and the Vikings drive down the feild to kick the game winning field goal. The Bears defense can't make a stop when it needs to, and the loosing streak goes to 5 in a row! Now, on National TV the Bears face the Lions who are the best team in the NFL and Superbowl favorites. Can the Bears turn in around in this short week and win? Here are your answers.
The Bears lose another home game against the Green Bay Packers, making their losing streak 11 straight vs Green Bay. Many things are to blame in this game, but mainly the coaching staff has more blunders causing them another L in the loss column. Even though the offense looked better under new offensive coordinator, Thomas Brown, will it continue against the Minnesota Vikings where they can put a stop to the losing.
The Bears go on a three-game skid as the offense has no answers while the defense can't stop the run. Tuesday, the answer for the three-game losing streak came at the hands of firing Shane Waldron as the offensive coordinator. However, no other major changes have been made as the spluttering bears offense still has many holes and there's been no answer at defense. Now, the Bears set to face their arch rivals, the Green Bay Packers at home, to try and get back in the win column.
The Bears are worse than dysfunctional, they are falling apart before our eyes and are in a total free fall. Everything from the coaching staff, to the general manager, to the play calling, and to the players themselves, everything is falling apart before our eyes. They were embarrassing in Phoenix against a mediocre Arizona Cardinals team. Injuries are mounting in key positions, and the only relief the Bears have in their future is a home game against the New England Patriots, who should not be a threat to anybody.
The Bears are a disaster, and it finally all came out in one game. Coaching blunders, bad play calling, bad playing, bad focus, immature and childish actions. If the Bears season wasn't over before, it is now. With all this disorganization, players were told to stop talking to the media and to keep things "in-house". Teams never prosper when things are this sideways, not to mention injuries pilling up. The Bears face the Cardinals who have a chance to take first in their divison. When the Cardinals have something to play for and the Bears are looking to do everything to erase last weeks blunder, it could be a very close game!
The Chicago Bears are coming off their bye week. Getting some rest will bring some, but not all, players back. The Chicago Bears and Caleb Williams, the number one overall draft pick, will face The Washington Commanders and Jayden Daniels, the number two overall draft pick. In the race for Offensive Rookie Of The Year, the Bears offense must perform well against the Commanders, and that top 10 defense for the Chicago Bears must be able to shut down a high-powered, high scoring, Washington Commanders team.
There was a new Prince Williams in London this, week and his first name was Caleb! Williams, after a couple three-and-outs to start the game, took contol of the game in the second quarter. Injurires were a concern with the defense, but didn't seem to look like there were backups playing, limiting the Jaguars to only 16 points! Howerver, facing a struggling team, the Bears will need to get healthy and get a much needed bye week!
The Bears take care of business as a TEAM to get their third win at home this season. The offense, especially Caleb Williams, continues to improve every week and the offensive line continues to give Williams and the running backs opportunities to move the ball. The Bears left for London on Moday to get a head start to face the Jaguars. However, with some key injuries on the Bears defense, the struggling Jaguars might not be as much of a pushover as the Panthers were last week.
The Chicago Bears looked more like a complete team at Home against the Rams. The Bears seemed to be clicking on all phases of the game, but nothing was very flashy. There is still a lot of work on the offense, and the defense has to tighten things up as well. The Bears face the Carolina Panthers at home this week, and Caleb Williams has an opportunity to have a big game against a defense that is not the best.
Bears Offense is still not in sync, the Offensive line is still terrible, the Coaching staff is not in sync, and the Defense can't make a stop when they need to. This "dominant" Bears defense could not stop the run and the Colts get their first win of the season. There were some improvments, but even then the Bears couldn't come up with a win. The Rams are struggling with injuries and come to town to face off against this disoraganized team.
The Bears have so many problems, but the biggest is the offensive line. Caleb Williams was sacked 7 times, and the Bears couldn't do anything on offense. As the Bears lick their wounds they simply need to do better to have a chance. If they don't they will come home with the imprint of a horseshoe on their face.
The Chicago Bears offense did absolutely nothing. That won't work out well in Houston if they can't improve immensely this weekend. The Defense & Special teams played extremely well, especially in the second half. Can that momentum continue against a high-powered Texans offense? If there is any hope to take a win in Houston, the defense will need to, as well as the offense takes a big step forward.
The time is now! The season literally kicks-off today! I took some time to go through my predictions for the season and went through the Titans game. The Caleb Williams era begins today. He has a lot of pressure on his shoulders, but will the jitters get to him finally is the answer. If the pressure does get to him will the defense be able to answer and help the Bears seal a win in the season and home opener! There are a lot of question marks, excitement, and anticipation!
The NFL has released the schedule for the upcoming season! With all the major changes the Bears have made, can they make the playoffs? Training camp hasn't happened, and final acquisitions have yet to come, but everyone is making their own predictions for this very tough NFC North Division.
The Chicago White Sox have a long season ahead of themselves. However, the Northside Cubs are sitting at number 1 in the division, and might be in the perfect spot for when the All-Star break comes in July. With over a month until that time, both teams have some things to work on. The season is so long that even the last place White Sox could make a push for the playoffs, but if you consider making that bet you might want to wait.
Not a lot of surprises in the NFL Draft, but a lot of excitment. Ryan Poles, and the Bears organization, might have altered the course of this 100+ years-old football team! Let's break it all down!
Chicago has finally answered the great Justin Fields question, and sent him to Pittsburg! The Bears did the right thing to make him a Steeler, and give him a home where he wanted to go. GM Ryan Poles might have been able to get more, however, it seemed he did what was best for Fields, and not for draft capital. Now the only question is, who will the Bears draft? With the number one pick in the draft, there are plethra of QB's available. When QB's are drafted, they walk into a tough situtation. The Bears look like they are set up to start winning off the bat. Will it be Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, or someone else? Most seem to think it will be Williams the Bears choose, but if Poles has taught us anything, he is not the most predictable GM in the NFL.
The Bears sign Free Agent D'Andre Swift to take over as the starting running back, Jaylon Johnson gets his contract, and Kevin Byard signs two year contract to take over as starting Free Safety. The Cubs and Sox are getting ready for the season to begin. The Chicago Bulls have a 5 game stretch where they could win all of them, to get ready for the playoffs. And the Blackhawks are just ready for the season to end.
The Chicago Bears made a trade for Ryan Bates to help their offensive line. As the Bears lose yet another draft pick for Bates, one wonders if the Bears might have a bigger haul in Free Agency this year. As the new NFL year begins on March 13 at 3:00PM, there are some valuable players that are looking for new homes.
Coming off the All-Star break, the Bulls haven't been the best. They are 1-2, and at the very least should be the opposite. With inaccurate 3-point shots and bad plays, the Bulls need to forget that loss to the Detroit Pistons. It is hard to know you lost to the second worst team in the leauge, but they need to get back on track. With their playoff hopes still alive, they have two tough games coming up including tonight when the Cleveland Cavaliers come to visit.
The embarrasing Blackhawks are so hard to watch, but the only reason to watch the Hawks just came back on the ice! The rookie sensation is just three games back from his injury that kept him off the ice for over a month. Not only was he leading the team in stats before he was injured, but in just three games he has 2 goals, 4 assist, 8 points, and looks to be even better than before.
Two more Chicago Bears are honored, forever, into the Hall of Fame! Well deserved and long awaited, both Steve "Mongo" McMichael, and Devin Hester "You Are Ridiculous" made the 2024 Hall of Fame Class. McMichael played 13 years in the NFL, 12 with Chicago, and Hester played 7 season in the NFL, and 6 with Chicago.
Until a trade or the draft, no one knows the answer of what the Chicago Bears will choose to do at the Quarterback position. Caleb Williams most undoubtedly will be the number one overall pick in the draft, the only question will it be, the Bears or someone else?
I have realized after nearly 10 years, I've never properly introduced myself. So this one is about me, to connect with you on a more personal side. So I introduce myself, and things to come in this new chapter of "What's Going on Chicago?"
The Chicago Bears have officially hired Erik Washington as Defensive Coordinator! Washington, who is familiar with the Bears Organization is coming from the Buffalo Bills. Washington's first NFL job was Chicago Bears Defensive Line Coach back in 2008. Also, the Bears have hired Kerry Joseph as their Quarterbacks Coach, from the Seahawks who worked under the Bears new Offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron. As the Justin Fields vs Calab Williams saga continues, Joseph might have let somthing slip as to what direction the Bears are thinking.
Former Seattle Seahawks Offensive Coordinator is now a Chicago Bear! The biggest question surrouding the Bears search for their OC was, whoever they choose will decide if Justin Fields is staying or will be traded. However, with Waldron, it is unclear and the question still remains unanswered. He has worked with notable QBs and has improved their play. As the most sought out OC and best option, the Bears offense could look better next year no matter who is at QB, and could look much different in their 103 year history!
The Chicago Bears were awful in their last game of the season as they were embarrased yet again this seaon by the Green Bay Packers. With questions that need to be answered, two question finally have been. The Bears are moving forward with Matt Eberflus, and will look for other options at the Offensive Coordinator position. Now it is a waiting game to see what the Chicago Bears will do to answer all other questions. Some might not be answered until late April.
The Chicago Bears win their home finale in great fashion! Justin Fields played, arguably, his best game of the season, DJ Moore had over 150 yards, and Khalil Herbert had over 100 yards rushing. The Defense forced four interceptions, two by Tyrique Stevenson, and the defense posting 2.5 sacks. This season full of up's and downs comes to an end inside Lambeau Field. The only NFC North team the Bears haven't beaten since 2019, now have a chance to get it done. The Green Bay Packers are fighting for a playoff spot with a win, but the Bears defense is something to fear. The Packers QB is having a career season, and is also something not to take lightly, this one won't be easy, and will come down to the final seconds to close the 2023-2024 NFL Regular Season.
The Chicago Bears win at home against a terrible 3 win Arizona Cardinal team. The defense did enough to give the offense plenty of opportunity to put up points, but only did so in the first half. Justin Fields' fan will over analyze his escape ability, but his below average Quarterback Rating, they will ignore. Now the Bears must continue to win at home as they face the Atlanta Falcons as they come to Soldier Field for the last home game of the season! Bears face a team that seems to be able to put up some points, and has hopes to sneak into the playoffs. This one won't be easy!
The Bears defense can't stop a 38-year-old Joe Flacco in the 4th Quarter allowing them to come back and win. Not only is the defense failing to play, but so is the offense. Fields still can't see open recievers, Robert Tonyan dropped a proabable touchdown, Darnell Mooney dropped the go-ahead touchdown for the win, and the coaching staff made some bad calls on 4th down. The Bears need to lick their wounds in time to host the Arizona Cardinals at home Chirstmas Eve. The Defense has a chance to dominate, as long as they don't forget to play all 4 quarters. Justin Fields gets his chance to show he belongs here in Chicago as QB #1 against an obismal Cardinals team!
The Chicago Bears defense doesn't allow a point in the second half, and the offense keeps putting points on the score board, as they stun the falling Loins. With the defense playing at a high level, and Justin Fields improving, the Bears have a chance to win in Cleveland. The Browns are hanging on to their playoffs hopes, and with a red hot, 38-year-old, Joe Falco at QB, it will be a true test for the Chicago Bears to show who they are. The Browns have a tough defense, and the Bears offense will be put to the test.
The Chicago Bears should be well rested after coming off a tough win in Minnesota and a Bye Week. Now, the Bears will get a rematch against the Detroit Lions, at home who are playing for the NFC North Title, and looking to secure their spot in the Playoffs. Justin Fields is playing for his future, whether in Chicago or elsewhere, and will have to be on his game against a very tough Lions team. The Lions seemed to fix their turnover troubles, but still allow late points for teams to come back and keep it close.
The Chicago Bears defense was stout! They have shown massive improvment with players coming back healthy, and are #1 against the run. The offense does not play well, cannot score a touchdown, but Cario Santos was able to score the go ahead Field Goal, along with 3 others, to win the game. Justin Fields future is still in question, but the remaining 5 games of the season has a chance to finish with more wins than losses.
Justin Fields has a good return to football, but the coaches took the ball away from Fields and lose. They played too conservative, and not smart for half a quarter and they end up costing the game. Now dejected after they had the game in the bag with just over 4 minutes left in the game still end up with another "L" this season. Bears head to the Minnesota Vikings, who have something to play for as they are sitting in the 7th and last spot in the Playoff race. With the Vikings season on the line and Fields' career in question this could be another close game.
Tyson Bagent wins his fourth game as a starter this year against a very poor Carolina Panthers team. The offense played well enough to win, but the defense played their best game of the season! Montez Sweat was a big factor in this game, but will need to get some tackles in Detroit. Ford Field will be the scene for the St. Brown Brothers and David Montgomery show down. Justin Fields is back at starting QB after his thumb sidelined him. With a tough all around team in the Detroit Lions, the Bears defense needs to keep the momentum and Justin Fields needs to play a nearly perfect game!
The Chicago Bears not only lose to the Saints in New Orleans, but also loose the ball 5 times in an offensive blunder. The defense held their own only allowing 7 points in the 4th quarter after Saints had 22 snaps in the Bears side of the field. Newly accquired DE Montez Sweat had little to no impact in the game and is looking to change that at his home debut against Carolina. The Panthers 1st overall pick in the draft belongs to Chicago so the Bears must win in hopes to maintain a top 5 pick next season. The Bears can get back in the win column when they host the Carolina Panthers kicking off week 10 on Thursday Night Fotoball at Solider Field!
The Chicago Bears defense can't stop the Chargers, Tyson Bagent and the offense can't get anything going, and the Chargers win in L.A. Another coach in fired in Chicago, a trade is made for a player that doesn't seem to want to be here, a player is seeks a trade but stays and still isn't paid, and dysfunction seems to keep crippling the Bears. As the Bears take on the Saint, win would certainly help to minimize the Bears incredible dysfunctional organization.
Tyson Bagent wins at home and displays he can handle playing in the NFL. With great poise and quick decisions, Bagent brings the Bears home game losing streak to an end. The defense is playing better and this week scored on a pick 6. Fields is out this week so Bagent will get his 2nd NFL start in a much tougher enviroment and more talented team vs. the L.A. Chargers! Will Bagent keep fans on the Bagent-train or will people be jumping off to get back on the Fields-train?
The Chicago Bears get back to losing and let one slip away from the Minnesota Vikings. The Bears defense was good enough to hold them to 12 points. However, back up Tyson Bagent loses the ball and was brought back for a Touchdown. Now with Justin Fields out, Bagent will make his first NFL debut as a starting QB in the NFL. The former division two, Shepeard University star, will have a challenge as the Las Vegas Raiders come to town to face off in Soilder Field. It will be a battle of the back ups as the Raiders QB, Jimmy Garoppolo, will be out with an injury.
Bears cannot stop 24 consecutive points against a bad Broncos team. The Bears only know how to loose. Even, after arguable Justin Feilds best game in his career, they still fall. The best thing for them is they get to focus on their next appoinent and don't have to dwell on that terrible loss for long. Thursday night the Bear will head the the Capital to face the Comanders. It won't be so easy because even the Commanders, though a bad team, have won two games, and almost beat the Philadelphia Eagles. Even though the Commanders lost last week, they look pretty hot, and now are excited to face the Bears, who, when they do things right, still do it wrong.
How the Bears can show their faces is amazing. To allow 34 points in the first half, and not put up any points until the 4th quarter against the backups is amazing! Nothing has changed from the coaching, or the play. Justin Fields is running out of time, and many are calling for head coach Matt Eberflus to be fired. The Bears now host another terrible team with the same issues. The Denver Broncos let up 70 points to the Miami Dolphins last week and are looking to get their first win against the Bears at Soldier Field and they have a chance.
Not only do the Bears lose again, but they have even more issues after they get home! Defensive Coordinator Alan Williams resigns with so many rumors, Fields bashes coaches, coaches see improvements, Bears make roster changes then reverse the changes. This dysfunctional team needs to refocus because they face the defending Super Bowl Champs as the Chiefs await the Bears arrival at Arrowhead Staduim Sunday afternoon!
The Chicago Bear were humiliated in primetime to the Green Bay Packers! They looked as if nothing has changed from last year to this year! They could be the worst team in the NFL. Everything, top to bottom, is to blame for that loss. Unprepared is a nice way of saying how truly emabarrassing this performance was. Only if there is a 180 degree turn, can the Bears Show up in Tampa, and win agains the Buccaneers!
There is a lot to unpack here. The Bears finish their preseason, there are still questions about the O-Line, and the reps Justin Fields took in the preseason. Also, what will the Bears record be at the end of the season with the hope/evidence, we have thus far! The Bears Superbowl game is week one against the Green Bay Packers!
The Chicago Bears lost their final game at home against the playoff bound Minnesota Vikings! With season over, GM Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus had their "end-of-season" press conference. With the number 1 pick in the draft the Bears have all the power, can drastically change some things, and maybe the arrow will be pointing up for a long time!
The Chicago Bears were awful, and it was em-Bear-asing to watch. The Lion's could do whatever they wanted to, and roared past the Bears. Now the Bears have 1 more game before they can truly hibernate. They host the Minnesota Vikings who will be playing most of their starters in the final match of the season.
