Introduction: Host Michael Rand recognizes that we can all be critical of trades that don't work out, so he decided to start Thursday's show by acknowledging a big deal that did work: the 2021 Twins trade for Joe Ryan, who is now 7-1 after Wednesday's win over the Giants. 7:00: Vikings writer Andrew Krammer joins Rand for an examination of the team's defense and just how much is being put on the plate of new coordinator Brian Flores. His resume suggests he's up to the task. 27:00: Another successful debut for Minnesota Aurora.

Hour 3: The credit goes to the Giants offense and the blame goes to the Vikings defense. The Vikings didn't even target Justin Jefferson once in the fourth quarter. Boomer said Daniel Jones did a great job of reading defenses both for his passing and his running. We also talked about expedited reviews during the playoff games this weekend. Jerry returns for an update, but first Gio reminds us that the Giants got Dexter Lawrence as one of the picks when they traded OBJ to the Browns. That worked out for them. Jerry played play by play audio from the 4th down play that ended the Vikings hopes. Brian Daboll said they have a lot of work to do to prepare for the Eagles. Gio couldn't believe how wide open Giants receivers were. The Bengals beat the Ravens thanks to a 98 yard fumble return for a TD. Josh Allen talked about winning and moving on despite his 3 turnovers. Al Michaels is getting criticized for his boring call of the game winner in Jacksonville. In the final segment of the hour, Gio doesn't like when people say the Giants are playing with ‘house money' now.

The Washington Commanders (4-4) are now on a 3 game winning streak and will host Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings (6-1) this Sunday at FedExField. Our guest and Vikings expert, Paul Hoffer, begins by telling us about what a big difference new head coach Kevin O'Connell has made to the Vikings this season, specifically talking about the “middle 8”, which is the last 4 minutes of the 1st half and the 1st 4 minutes of the 2nd half. Aside from that, the personnel has not changed much between seasons for the Vikings, but the results certainly have. Beginning with Kirk Cousins and the Vikings offense, the pod discusses what the matchup looks like against the Commanders defense. We talk Dalvin Cook outside zone runs, TJ Hockenson and his potential impact on the game, as well as how to best slow down Justin Jefferson. We discuss the importance of Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne going against a relatively weak Vikings offensive line. Flipping the script, we move to the electric QB Taylor Heinicke and the Commanders offense going against a suspect pass defense for the Minnesota Vikings. What about the run game with Antonio Gibson and Brian Robinson Jr. against a strong Vikings run defense? We conclude the show with predictions. The Vikings are 3 point favorites over the Commanders, with an over/under of 43.5. #VikingsCommanders #KirkCousins #TaylorHeinicke TIMECODES 0:00 Intro 2:59 Vikings Season 8:20 Vikings O vs Commanders D 23:54 Commanders O vs Vikings D 35:28 Predictions 38:59 AFTER THE POD

The conversation then shifts to Jared's Hall of Fame chances and a unique experience off the field when he got to be part of the Jackass 3D movie. Finally, Superlatives where we learn Allen's Top 5 pass rushers in the league right now, the backstory behind his epic retirement video and the best hairstyles in NFL history. Jared was moved by the commitment, dedication, and sacrifices that our soldiers make every day to protect our freedom. He wanted to say thank you to every soldier in the only way that Jared knows how. By embracing the conflict and making a positive life-changing difference in the lives of those who need it most, Jared and his JAH4WW will help make life for wounded vets just a little bit easier. Vikings vs Giants… Good morning Horners! Here is your Good Morning Gjallarhorn Preview Show. The game is being played at US Bank Stadium, home of the most influential fans in the NFL. The guys talk about the relative even overall matchup of the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles, and how important the fans in the stands will be to get inside the head of Carson Wentz and help the vaunted Mike Zimmer defense. Looking at the Eagles, their defensive front 7 is brutal against the run, #1 versus it in fact so far this 2019 season. However, they are ranked poorly against the pass. Like Drew says, “it doesn’t take a genius to see how to attack it” but it does depend on good Kirk Cousins showing up today and not bad Kirk Cousins. With the best wide receiver duo in the league with Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs, that should be easy. Throw in passes to Dalvin Cook in open space, Irv Smith Jr, Kyle Rudolph and Olabisi “Bisi” Johnson, and you have the makings of taking the top off the Eagles defense. The key will be for Cousins to gain confidence early, probably with quick passes to slow the pass rush. The O-line, missing Josh Kline, will have to step up their play too to help with that. The Eagles have scored a lot of points so far on their way to a 3-2 record. The Vikings D has held teams to just a 14 point average. The Vikes’ defense is good. They thrive off of the home fans too, so be loud! The only question Dave had was, “when will Mike Hughes replace Xavier Rhodes?” That engendered interesting conversation. What is your answer? The show wraps up with your Minnesota Vikings history trivia, the Eagles edition. Drew comes up with some great questions and Ted tries to answer them. Talk of Chuck Foreman, Fran Tarkenton, Wade Wilson, and Anthony Carter are just a few legends discussed, along with all those good games against the Eagles. Tom Brady and the Pats benefitted from a timely fumble, otherwise the ending may have looked a bit different. And that's two weeks in a row fumbles have been the demise of the Packers. The Cowboys got embarrassed last night after given multiple chances to secure the win W. Mariota looked good for the Texans in the win, but his good games are too far in between. The Vikes took care of the Lions with the help of 10 sacks by the Vikings D (a team record). Dalvin Cook returned and ripped off a 70 yd run to remind us all what a dynamic player he can be. And Oakland is a disaster, but they're trending in the direction of the late '80's/early '90's Cowboys. Trust me (and Jon Gruden) on this.

Perhaps the Division with the most history in the NFL, the NFC North seems to annually be up for grabs. While the Packers - winners of 4 straight Division crowns - have come out on top, 2 of the 3 other squads are always right behind them. Does Green Bay make it 5-in-a-row this season or does Aaron Rodgers and the changes on O end that streak? Will the Lions - who have never won the NFC North and haven't won a Division Title since 1993 - overcome the dismantling of their d-line and inconsistencies from QB Stafford to win big in 2015? Will Coach Fox fix QB Cutler and an unusually weak D to bring Da Bears back to glory? Or will it be a young and fearless Vikings D surprising teams in arguably pro football's most entertaining Division? The hosts tackle those questions and more on Show 183!
