No player generates more opinion and more emotion than one, Aaron Rodgers. He has managed to stay in the headlines for many reasons. Football or otherwise. Finally, one author threw himself into the quarterback's world: Ian O'Connor with “Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers.”Rodgers' career with the New York Jets now begins. For the podcast, I chatted with O'Connor all about the enigma. We've both tried our best to get to know Rodgers. Back in my Journal Sentinel days, I'd sit down with the Packers QB for a lengthy 1 on 1 each spring. Even a decade-plus ago, he was a fascinating figure. On to my stint at Bleacher Report, a pair of stories made some waves — in 2016 and then 2019. For his book, O'Connor spoke with everyone he possibly could. This was a fascinating chat. We delve into the family dynamic, the “immunized” ruse and much more. Audio and video is above, and you can access this episode on Apple, Spotify and YouTube as well.Be sure to add Ian's book to your library wherever books are sold. He's one of the best in the business. You can also follow Ian on X @Ian_OConnor.Now, the Aaron Rodgers story continues. Thanks for reading and listening, everybody. Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com TODAY I AM GOING TO SHARE WITH YOU ON…. (JUST WAIT A MINUTE IN SILENCE) NFL…. Yea baby… so sorry about the Packers QB getting hurt…. Happy to see Harbaugh help the bolts And was also happy to see Derek Carr light it up a little… who knows… Im puzzled about the Patriots… hmm I thought Bengels would be better… Minnesota won… playing against quite possibly the worst team in the NFL And then there are my BEARS… Im not gonna lie…. 240million… Dak Really? Over 4 years… but only 230 of it is actually guaranteed… so you know. Hardest thing in the world… breaking a horse? Climbing into the ring of a UFC match? Rehabbing from two shoulder surgeries in less than one year? NOPE: It's simply this… waiting on the Lord. Whats the longest you have ever waited? I waited for 9 hours in California in an emergency room for my broken ankle. Waiting in line for one of the first Sony Walkmans at the Dallas Galleria. The line was out the door, down the mall down the wing, down the other department store… I stood for 2 minutes and finally walked all the way up to the front (past foot locker, past cadelles pretzels, past orange Julius, past Sabarro pizza, past Spencers gifts, past hallmark cards, past Waldens books, past the CD shop and radio shack… at the front they were taking names because they had run out of headphones. They just had one under the glass and one demo one on the counter… it's batteries had run out. I asked if they would sell the demo, the guy asked his manager, he said yes, he said its not new so give him 25% off, the kid next to me got all snarky… but I asked first. I got them and walked out in about 7 minutes… I MANIPULATED THE WAITING PROCESS… HOW MAN OF YOU KNOW IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY WITH GOD??? Noah waited 120 years Abraham and Sarah waited for a son (so did Rachel and Hannah). Joseph 30 years waited for a promotion. Moses 40 years waited to lead the Israelites out of slavery. Joshua waited for the Promised Land. Ruth waited for a husband. David waited to become king. Elijah waited for rain. Job waited for suffering to end. Paul waited for release from prison. Jesus waited 30 years for his ministry to start Waiting is an investment into our walk with God and it's the only type of investment that is made simply through waiting.

Jim, Matt & Molly reel themselves in after the surprise appearance from Bryan Bulaga midway through Hour 1! Matt is embarrassed by the shocked look he had on his face in Primetime's X/Twitter post, Jim gets re-angry about the branding change away from the name "Twitter", and Molly goes full ASMR when talking about "quarterback vampires." They return to the discussion surrounding today's poll question, asking which Packers quarterback people want to see play the most in Saturday's preseason opener: Love, Clifford or Pratt? Matt asks how much value as experience in the system means for Clifford, and Jim and Molly push for the younger Pratt with a higher upside and eventual trade potential. Molly's Game features lines/bets on the women's soccer gold medal match between Team USA and Brazil, the Packers vs Browns preseason opener, Clifford and Pratt's stat lines, and the Bears vs Bills preseason game. Poll Dancing includes questions about the Packers' most impactful free agent, the Packers vs 49ers win totals, and grilled cheese or tuna sandwich!
Jim Rutledge, Matt Hamilton & Molly Brown roll into a cool Phish Friday with some more love our gold medalist Matt. Jim pulls a call back from the 2024 Olympic opening ceremonies, as they open up an "Ask Matt Anything" about the Olympics, and Matt thanks Rick in DeForest for getting him a new Jordan Love Jersey! They also throw out today's poll question ahead of Saturday's preseason opener versus the Browns, asking which Packers QB that fans want to see take the most snaps on Saturday: Jordan Love, Sean Clifford, or Michael Pratt? Bryan Bulaga, Iowa, makes a surprise appearance to clear the air with Matt after his DISPARAGING response to our poll question yesterday! Bryan talks about the confusion about how the poll question was presented to him on KBN, and he expresses the respect that he has for Team USA and how much it means to represent one's country (even if he doesn't respect "breaking"). Matt still won't budge from his stance on caring more about Team USA's gold medal count over a Packers Super Bowl. Bryan also asks Jim, Matt & Molly what they're looking out for in tomorrow's preseason opener for the Packers, and Molly asks how much stock does Bryan put into preseason results and performances! Matt also asks Bryan what Olympic sport he would've like to play in another life.
At 3:22, Smith discusses the physiological challenges for Olympic track athletes and then spins it forward to some of the physical demands for players at training camp. At 18:08, Smith explains that if you want your team to play with physicality then they must practice with physicality, too. At 19:52, Smith talks about how players handle it when they don't know who the starting QB will be once the season starts. At 21:53, Smith talks and jokes about going from hating Brett Favre when he was the Packers QB to loving Favre when he became the Vikings QB, and then talks about his excitement to cheer for JJ McCarthy, who played at Smith's alma mater's (Ohio State) rival Michigan.

The Packers QB is not practicing until he gets a new contract
Jim, Matt & Molly roll into Hour 2 with Molly up at the Tundra Trio houses for Day 1 of Packers training camp -- where Jordan Love is still "holding-in" while awaiting a contract extension. Matt Hamilton is also decked out in Packers pride, and Molly gets in a history lesson in how fans watched Don Hutson back in the day. The JM&M fans also let Molly know that she's gotta watch what she says when telling the story vomiting in Jim's truck on the way to Lambeau Field... To try and find some comps for Jordan Love's impending *unprecedented* contract extension, Jim runs through the list of the NFL's highest-paid QBs and Matt & Molly pick whether each was more deserving of getting paid than Love. Throwing Stones includes chill takes about news that Coors Light and other alcoholic beverages will now be sold at Camp Randall & the Kohl Center, Team USA men's Olympic basketball team squeaking past South Sudan and German, & if Green Bay is the perfect city for Monday Night Raw. Jim, Matt & Molly wrap up discussing their schedules for the remainder of the shows this week.
Tausch believes a former NBA player who rarely gets talked about deserves a ton of praise for growing the game internationally after watching Round 1 of the 2024 NBA Draft. Also, is there any reason to be concerned about all the national praise Jordan Love has been receiving this offseason? Reviewing commentary from ESPN's Mike Tannenbaum and Mike Greenberg sharing their high expectations for the Packers QB.

Oh Nelly do we have barn-burner today” as the legendary Hall-of-Fame coach & broadcaster Keith Jackson would say. Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is on the IMPACT SHOW podcast this week and it is a classic. Jordan started training with Todd this past January 2024 and he has been grinding for 3+ months now as he prepares for a great upcoming season. On today's IMPACT SHOW, Todd talks about 3 main things with Jordan: Training, Football, and LIFE. Wait until you hear Jordan's answers to Todd's questions. Whether you are a Packer's fan (or even just a football fan) or not, you will be a Jordan Love fan after this one. Tune in NOW and hear Todd & Jordan discuss the following: What have the last 3-months of training been like? What has the best part of our training…and what has been the worst part? Haha. How do you stay grounded these days? Football: What are some things you learned from sitting behind Aaron Rodgers for 3-years? What is one thing people should know about being an NFL QB, if they've never been a quarterback, or even a football player? When did you realize in college that you might be good enough to play in the NFL? Training: Talk about your off-season training this year… what are all the things you do in addition to your strength & conditioning? What do you do from a nutritional standpoint to stay in great shape? How much time do you spend doing “recovery” versus training in-season and off-season? How does sleep fit into the equation? What are some tips you can give to kids and young athletes today who want to be a great athlete or successful in life? LIFE: When someone watches you this football season, what do you want them to know about Jordan Love? Share about your father and how your Dad's death when you were just 14-years old, affected you as a boy and even now as a man. How do you think his death will impact you as a father and husband someday? What would your Dad say to you now if he was still living? Who was your hero growing up? You are working on creating the “Love Foundation” [501-c-3] to be able to give back to people in need, mental health, and suicide prevention. Please share with where you are at with that and how are wonderful community can help with that. IMPACT. Legacy. What does Jordan Love look when he's my age. Double your age and add 3-years. Haha. Is there anything I'm NOT asking you that is important other people know about you? My friends, this episode will go down as a classic. Whatever football team you root for this Fall, I hope you root for our very own Jordan Love. He is a great role model, a humble being with a kind heart, and he's one heckuva hard-worker and fine young man. And the last time a Packers QB was in here doing what he just did, the Packers won a Super Bowl (2011). So keep your eyes peeled and your ears in-tune for what Jordan Love is about to do this coming season…the Packers are well positioned for continued success. And regardless of outcome, this man is going to IMPACT A LOT of people in his lifetime. #StayTuned Please share this episode on your social media and tag Jordan and me. One of the biggest football stories of the 2023 NFL season came out of Green Bay, as Quarterback Jordan Love led his Packers team to the postseason, knocking off the NFC favorite Dallas Cowboys on the road. In his first year as a starter, Love surpassed expectations and rallied a young team to be one of the last standing at the end of the season, coming up just short of playing in the NFC Championship. Love is sitting with Ryan, Channing and Fred to talk about his past year, quieting the doubters while building on the success of this year, free agency moves and Jordan takes us back to how his football journey started, sharing life events that made him question if playing quarterback was even something he could do. When the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers' successor in 2020, they selected Jordan Love out of the state of Utah with the 26th overall pick, and although he was expected to come in as a backup, Jordan understood the responsibility of the long lineage of great QBs in Green Bay history that he was following and the unique opportunity in front of him to learn from one of the game's best to ever do it, in Rodgers. This past season, getting his opportunity to start after Rodgers left for NY, Love made his position known that he was no longer the back up as it was the start of a new era in Green Bay with a fresh style of QB play under center. Jordan let his on field play do the talking for him, quieting any doubters that he could be the next great Packers QB. Jordan threw for over 4,000 yards and 32 touchdowns in his first season starting and led the Packers to the NFL Playoffs where they knocked off the Dallas Cowboys in an upset victory on the road, garnering league wide respect and earning top honors as one of the best QBs in the game. Coming up short against the 49ers one game shy of the NFC Championship, Jordan looks at the missed opportunities and certain plays he wishes he had back but knows it only makes him better prepared to take on adversity going forward. He shares the highs and lows of the 2023 season and also what he learned from playing behind Rodgers and how he used it to help him become a better leader on the field and a threat to opposing defenses. In 2023, game by game the football world could see Jordan's confidence increase while putting up MVP caliber numbers with a young receiving core around him. Jordan talks about the team's progress and how to build off of it this season and is excited with Green Bay's new free agency pickups that only makes the team stronger. Jordan is confident about becoming the team to beat in the NFC North and uses adversity to propel him forward, becoming better each time on the field. No stranger to loss and setback, at 14 years old, Jordan lost his father, which left a hole in his world but he shares how instrumental his mother and three sisters were in his upbringing and the core of his world now. As a young player, he relied on a strong support system of family and coaches during the process of mourning his dad's sudden passing, but found strength in the adversity and learned to turn his pain into focus of living out his football dream in his father's memory. Expectations continue to rise around Love and the Packers and Jordan welcomes the pressure to shed the underdog stigma and show the world his team deserves to be respected as one of the top competitors in the NFL.
