    Long before Title IX black women athletes proved to the world a passion to compete in track and field. They became some of the fastest women on the planet. Robert Bartlett, PhD, Visiting Assistant Professor/Interim Director of Africana Studies Africana Studies and McNair scholar Kyra Gaines, EWU sociology major, discuss this research focused on the lived experiences of the first black women of track and field and the records and social barriers they broke while running against the wind.
