Where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your Captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1492 of our Trek, and time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Humor Unplugged. Our Thursday podcast will provide a short and clean funny story to help you lighten up and live a rich and satisfying life. Something to cheer you and give a bit a levity in your life. We are told in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+15:30&version=NLT (Proverbs 15:30) A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health. We are also encouraged in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+17:22&version=NLT (Proverbs 17:22) A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. Consider this your vitamin supplement of cheer for today. So let's jump right in with today's funny which is titled: My Job Resume Little Joey was over at his favorite Uncle Louey's apartment visiting for an afternoon, and they were chatting as they often did. Now, Uncle Louey wasn't noted for being able to hold down a job very long, and he always had some story to tell. That is probably why little Joey liked visiting him so often. As Joey and Louey were chatting about adventures and going fishing, Joey looked at him and said, “my mama says you can never keep a job. Uncle Loey, why is that?” Uncle Louey agreed and stared off into the air for a bit and then said, “well, let me explain the reasons.” My first job was working in an orange juice factory, but I got canned... couldn't concentrate. Then I worked in the woods as a lumberjack, but I just couldn't hack it, so they gave me the ax. After that, I tried to be a tailor, but I just wasn't suited for it...mainly because it was a so-so job. Next, I tried working in a muffler factory, but that was too exhausting. I tried to be a barber, but I just couldn't cut it. Then I tried to be a chef -- figured it would add a little spice to my life, but I just didn't have the thyme. I attempted to be a deli worker, but any way I sliced it, I couldn't cut the mustard. My best job was being a musician, but eventually, I found I wasn't noteworthy. I studied for a long time to become a doctor, but I didn't have any patience. Next was a job in a shoe factory - I tried, but I just didn't fit in. I became a professional fisherman but discovered that I couldn't live on my net income. I managed to get a good job working for a pool maintenance company, but the work was just too draining. I got a job at a zoo feeding giraffes, but I was fired because I wasn't up to it. So then I got a job in a workout center, but they said I wasn't fit for the job. After many years of trying to find steady work, I finally got a job as a historian until I realized there was no future in it. My last job was working at Starbucks, but I had to quit because it was always the same old grind. So, then I retired...and found out I was perfect for the job! I hope that brought a smile to your face today. If it did pass your smile onto some else, we all could use a kind smile each day. Our Thursday thought is, “Success seems to be connected to action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they never quit.” Here is our verse for today: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2013%3A11&version=NLT (Proverbs 13:11) Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly...

Joey Low is an expert at framing the story and getting to the heart of the universal truths of a case. He discusses a civil case for a 76-year-old woman who was in a car accident and suffered broken bones and mild traumatic brain injury. The case was a “red light, green light” and “he said, she said” case meaning there was no proof of what color the stop light was or who was at fault. Unknown to Joey until the trial, before Joey was retained the client had responded to discovery suggesting that the accident was the client’s fault. Joseph H. Low, http://www.attorney4people.com, has a national reputation for his expertise in trial law. He has conducted trials all over the country in Federal, State and Military Courts. He focuses his attention in representing people who have been bullied by corporations and the government. Areas of his trial work have seen him with victories for his clients including personal injury, medical malpractice, business litigation, civil rights violations and criminal defense. Joey framed the value of this case by showing the jury who his client was and how she showed up for others. The value wasn’t about her age or how much time she had left on earth, but instead about the life she had led up until the accident. As Joey said, “it was important for the jury to see everything that was there, not just what wasn’t there any longer.” A legal immigrant to the US, Joey’s client learned English, got educated, became a nurse and earned American citizenship. She had a “special connection serving others who couldn’t serve themselves.” After the accident, she had anxiety, fear, and isolated herself from her family and community. The accident not only changed her, it also changed other’s experience with her. After showing the jury who his client was before the accident, Joey addressed the absence of proof of the accident by telling an intriguing story and asking the jury to determine, “who’s earned the right to be believed?”

If they don't deliver they personally buy you a Tesla. They have a multi-discipline, multi-channel, hyper-personalized, highly-targeted, account-based sales outreach system to reach the list of your 500 dream clients over the course of the year. Where does inspiration come from? How do we overcome adversity? Finding the drive to push through and get things done can come from some surprising places. Sometimes it is even found in the struggles of loved ones. Joey’s wife has a twin brother who went through an incredibly difficult health issue with impossible odds. Despite being young and healthy, Joey’s brother-in-law was given very little chance to survive. The weight of the situation affected Joey tremendously, causing him to question his beliefs and even overeat. Despite those impossible odds, he is now cancer-free. As Joey was so close to the situation, he saw how his brother-in-law dealt with the situation, and took inspiration from it. Those difficulties led Joey to ask himself important questions about himself and his faith, and those questions brought Joey out of a dark place and into a positive light and an appreciation of the life that he has.

Hi Everyone, it's Tiffany Soithongsuk: welcome to my conversation for WeMove Magazine titled “Living beyond Limits & Mental Resilience”. I am so excited to share my talk with Joey Ansah, an undeniable beacon for these themes: this conversation is well worth its time stamp and I urge you to listen all the way through. Joey Ansah, of British-Ghanian descent, is an actor, film maker & lifelong martial artist. He is renowned for THAT iconic fight scene with Matt Damon in the action thriller The Bourne Ultimatum. In more recent times, you may have seen him in MI6, Aladdin, to name a couple. He is also the director- producer of the revamped comic-cult web series of “Street Fighter”. Joey is one of the most charismatic, articulate and knowledgeable men I know. This conversation is a revelation on multiple levels: Yes, he shares fascinating insight into the acting industry - the graft, the patience and the will needed to succeed. As a martial artist, he shares his deep appreciation and application of the philosophies around the spirit of essence & endurance, that lead to mastery not just in physical terms, but in this game of life. But what really hits hard and ties this all up is his sincerity in opening up about his nervous breakdown: Joey is able to express and articulate the mechanics of his breakdown which I hope will be of real insight - if not comfort - for those who have suffered, or are suffering, from panic attacks/phobias, extreme distress and/or depression. In touching on the realities of suicidal thinking, we also highlight the power of genuine human connection and how at the root of all, that is what we all really crave in life. On the parallels of his journey through film, physicality, and all important mindset, we see how discipline, process, observation, and choosing to be pro-active vs reactive can be the differentiating factor in finding a way through this life. There is so much to learn from in this conversation and I hope you relish the dialogue. As Joey shares: “Try to not let fear consume you completely, maintain your will, get help if you need it, find your way through, keep the fight…endure.”If you are in need of mental health support or resources, I highly recommend the Samaritans samaritans.org  and Mind mind.org.ukJoey Ansah Web: IMDB | Instagram @thejoeyansahTiffany Soi Instagram: @tiffany_soi YouTube: Tiffany Soi

The Third Story Podcast with Leo Sidran

As a younger man Joey Dosik thought he might make a contribution on the saxophone. He loved playing basketball and playing piano too, and he had a sweet, soulful singing voice. But if you asked him he probably would have told you that he was going to be a jazz sax player. That’s what took him out of LA and to the University of Michigan.  Sometimes the stars align and the right people show up in the right place at just the right time. Later on we realize that something special was going on, but in the initial moment it’s just what’s happening. In Joey’s case, he ended up at Michigan with a cohort of other talented, multifaceted musicians (former Third Story guest Theo Katzman, for example). Somewhere along the line, he realized that he needed to sing!  Today Joey is best known for the soulful, romantic songs that he sings with the band Vulfpeck as well as on his solo recordings (he released both Game Winner and Inside Voice in 2018). His Game Winner project ended up merging his two great loves, music and basketball, into a conceptual collection of songs that are surprisingly compelling even for non sports lovers. Inside Voice also operates on two levels, as a classic sounding record that he describes as “deep, sexual, but also kind of silly”. In fact it’s the sense of humor in his writing that keeps his work fresh and modern. As Joey tells it, he’s interested in both honoring and transcending his references. Here Joey talks about maintaining the balance between classic and modern, working with Vulfpeck (“we look up to one another”), the value of practical application, what’s so great about Italian vowels, why basketball is good practice for life, why he never throws away a creative idea, and how he keeps his saxophone chops up. Thanks for listening. If you enjoyed it, please leave a review on iTunes and consider supporting the podcast on Patreon! And now you can also listen to the podcast on Spotify!

We go balls deep into this subject this time. Yes, I said BALLS DEEP. I literally attempt to exhaust this subject of conversation with Kevin. Why do I shoot it? Who says yes to shooting with me? Why do they say yes to shooting with me? In order to properly answer this question I reverse the roles and explain why I say yes and to whom do I say yes to shooting fashion nudity. How being an amateur differs from being a professional when shooting and how models evaluate you. I will say the things that people are too embarrassed to admit over the next 2 podcasts. Nothing but the truth. Pardon the sound quality. We recorded this over Skype! You can find Kevin and his work on Instagram @kevwphoto Edit: At the 43 minute mark of this conversation Kevin interjects that he's not in photography for monetary compensation and I had a brain fart and didn't make the logical jump/conclusion regarding the models that are looking for "long-term/delayed monetary compensation". What I should have said is this: "It's all money/value at the end of the day. Even when money doesn't change hands. Even when you only want to be an *artiste*. The model that says yes to you is still looking to increase her "value" by shooting with you. There is still a "transaction" for lack of a better word and failure to recognize that transaction will cloud recognition of the working situation. They say "All roads lead to Rome". How do you know that the model's measure of stature, reputation, self-esteem, and artistry is not monetary? How do you know that she's not looking to book more work or marry well or claim her fame via shooting with you? As Joey said, "Selfless good deeds don't exist": https://youtu.be/ahDxg3hc5pM
