It doesn't take long for Emma Hunter's frisky DJ Nora to jump back into action on Moonshine (CBC; The CW). You won't see that scene in the U.S. Hunter's auto erotic antics, as well as the occasional obscenity, will be cut on The CW. It seems that the Canadian brew of Moonshine is a little too strong for The CW's standards and practices. The raunchy dramedy, from writer/producer Sheri Elwood, focuses on a dysfunctional clan of half siblings battling for control of a ramshackle lodge on the south shore of Nova Scotia. Hunter, previous podcast guest Jennifer Finnigan as Lydia, and Anastasia Phillips as Rhian play the three feisty sisters on the series. As she says on this podcast, Hunter is thrilled to be flexing more than just her funny bone with Moonshine. Unfortunately, no one among the group has a believable alibi; everyone is a suspect, and everyone has, as Amanda discovers, a motive. The Mexican police seem unwilling to conduct a thorough investigation, and the American Ambassador is only interested in avoiding an international incident. It's up to Amanda to uncover the mystery. But the killer has further mayhem in mind, and when the action shifts back to the United States, Amanda, who is home on vacation, is once again called on to pursue the person who wanted Danielle to die and who was willing to commit a further savage crime to cover their tracks. Welcome to our last regularly scheduled episode of Book Dreams. We started the podcast because books, more than just about anything, bring us joy. So we thought, what better way to end the podcast than to spread that joy and talk about how to make great book recommendations for other people? Our guest, James Gilbert, is a bookseller at the Heywood Hill bookstore in London, which runs, in its words, “the most personalized book subscription service in the world.” James makes personalized book recommendations for Heywood's subscription (and other) customers–including, for the past several months, Eve and Julie. James talked about the key to being a good book recommender, how to help people figure out what they want to read when they're not sure of it themselves, how he decided which books to send to Julie and which books to send to Eve, and when it's okay to recommend books you haven't yet read yourself. One more thing: This is not our last episode ever–we'll continue to air bonus episodes every month or so. And we're working on a new podcast! It's called Rebel Nuns. We wanted to focus on stories about groups of people coming together to take collective action with a positive outcome, and it turns out there are many fascinating accounts, from ancient Mesopotamia all the way up until today, of nuns banding together to fight the powers that be in the service of causes they believe in. These stories are all-too-often hidden, and they reflect larger forces in society, and we can't wait to tell you all about them. We'll post updates about Rebel Nuns here in the Book Dreams feed. Thank you so very much for listening to Book Dreams, whether you've been with us from the very beginning or whether you're tuning in today for the first time. We've loved learning and sharing and bonding over all things book-related with you, and we're excited to keep connecting over bonus episodes and all that is to come. James Gilbert has been a bookseller, and professional recommender of books, for eight years at Heywood Hill, an internationally renowned bookstore in London that runs “the most personalized book subscription service in the world.” Find us on Twitter (@bookdreamspod) and Instagram (@bookdreamspodcast), or email us at contact@bookdreamspodcast.com. This is episode 426 of Teaching Learning Leading K12, an audio podcast. Over the course of his career as a historian, James Gilbert published 11 history texts, one of which (Perfect Cities) was named a New York Times notable book of the year in 1986. Throughout his career, he has often succumbed to a love of travel made possible by teaching at the University of Paris and Warwick University in England, and with Fulbright Awards, at the University of Sydney, the University of Amsterdam, Erfurt and Tubingen Universities in Germany, and Uppsala University in Sweden, where he was given an honorary Doctoral Degree. Set in the years between the Civil War and the great Influenza Plague of 1918, this is a pageant of imaginary people--the narratives of a score of men, women, and children whose lives illustrate the immense changes and challenges of that turbulent era. This was a period of great events and outsized personalities: splendid World's Fairs attended by millions, radical new inventions, devastating wars and violent revolutions; leaders like Theodore Roosevelt. But underneath were the people whose stories are as fascinating, troubled, compelling and triumphant as anything that has occupied the attention of historians. There was the town doctor, the local sheriff, the jeweler, the self-appointed matron of morality, a young black girl and her mother, a boy who ran off to the circus and many others: lovers, criminals, teachers, ministers, and odd characters. As a community, their lives and ambitions, their failures and tragedies--sometimes at their own making--and their small successes intersected and became a part of each other.Marion, Illinois is both a real place and the imaginary location for these stories. Set in the center of Little Egypt, Marion is a county seat in the middle of this unique area, a river delta wedged between the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. These two great highways of American immigration and trade sent millions of settlers North and South, East and West and back. The few who stopped off to make it their home created something distinctive. Theirs was a society that reflected the crossroads it occupied and the mix of cultures and sections that it represented. It was both nowhere and everywhere. Therefore their struggles to make sense of this world exemplify the tale and the memory of modern America in the making.Link to the book on Barnes and NobleLink to the book on Amazonbooks, book podcast, audiobook, author reading, reading, memoir, literature

If marketing integrates well with the rest of the credit union, it ensures that goals and messages are clearly understood across departments and communicated to members. This episode of the CUNA News Podcast features James Gilbert, head of marketing at CRMNext. Gilbert says that marketing needs to be the communication channel for every function of the credit union to break down siloes between departments and effectively reach members. He also emphasizes the importance of personalization and data, the roles of contact center representatives and tellers in engaging with members, and more.

In this episode of Real ABM our guest is the author, speaker and current Head of Marketing at CRMNEXT, James Gilbert. James provides insight on redefining success in ABM. Delving beyond the standard ABM strategy, James takes time to analyze ways to improve and rethink ABM. What if ABM was seen through the lens of GTM? What would happen if a niche target audience was the goal rather than a broad target audience? James consistently challenges the standard and moves the needle forward through constant innovation. This episode talks about how to increase the velocity of the funnel, what does the intent cake do to influence your process and how to create out-of-the-box strategies that develop a cycle of ingenuity. As you process through what James has to say, take time to reflect on your current strategy and structure. What would happen if you added multiple data points for reference? How can you improve communication between sellers and buyers? Rethink the ABM strategy for ways to create an experience for the customer with multiple touch points along the way. How can you highlight and engage the community? How can you create synergy between sales and buyers? Is your current strategy just spray and pray? How can you create opportunities for sales to get a foot in the door? What about SDR's? What resources are you using and to what extent? All this and more: this week on Real ABM.

Shakespeare’s Romeo infamously asks ‘What’s in a name?’ - A name does not change the fact of the person or in our case a product. Well for CRMNext their name is their identity. They are the next tool, the next wave, and the next generation of what a CRM should be. They grow a SaaS product through local communities and micro-journeys on their website. James Gilbert of CRMNEXT eloquently puts their goal for all clients as ‘Simplify work, drive growth and deliver experience’. With the use of a centralized data hub, all systems connect, flow, and talk to each other. CRMNEXT is really the next generation with no code required allowing ease of use for all competencies. While they focus on the financial industry they must adapt to this industry’s way of communicating. They target the local communities that offer a word-of-mouth form of marketing. They integrate this by generating leads on their websites through tailored and personalized user micro-journeys. As James says, the efforts placed to allow for this user experience goes a long way. Overall allows for a unique form of growth for a SaaS product and most importantly, a personalized and controlled experience.

Leadership. The word encompasses a whole lot, but one thing's for sure: the positive impact good leaders can have on their employees is priceless. And on this week's episode of Banking On Experience, CRMNEXT's James Gilbert is joined by one such leader. Katie Nehl- Communications Manager at First Community Credit Union (FCCU) and CUInsights author- offers some valuable insight on the subject. What's covered? Why this topic? As Katie says, “Now more than ever, it really truly is important to implement that framework for making an impact- whether that's in your home life, in your child's life before he or she goes back to school, or in your business.”Some of the biggest challenges Katie feels credit unions are facing right now. For one thing, the work-from-home juggling (and all that that entails) can make things pretty tricky for your FI.Some examples of what senior leadership at FCCU did so well in terms of leading employees through this challenging chapter. (Hint: open, clear communication is key.)Katie's own framework for solid leadership (as laid out in her CUInsight Article) that can make a truly positive impact on employees:First: Listen. (Key here? Instead of listening to respond, listen to learn.)Second: Be Real. (An oft-underestimated part of good leadership: the wonderfully contagious effect being willing to laugh at yourself can have on your employees. Humility, folks. It goes a long way.)Third: Work for a cause, not applause. (Note: some good, personal stories here from host and guest that will definitely get your wheels turning.)Fourth and Fifth: Remain positive and be thankful. (They go hand-in-hand.)Katie's 2 cents on the cost of not actively implementing a framework for impactful leadership. – Suffice it to say, there are many. But particularly relevant is the mental health of your employees, and we'd recommend a listen. Here's to you, your employees, and leadership that makes the greatest impact yet!You can find this interview, and many more, by subscribing to Banking on Experience Podcast on iTunes. We're all livin' on a prayer these days. And those 80's jams? Yeah, they bring back some memories (or at least some movie-inspired nostalgia for you babies out there.) Regardless, that kind of nostalgia offers an avenue for a whole lot of creative connection with your members. And that's what this week's episode of Banking On Experience is all about. CRMNEXT's James Gilbert is joined by Cynthia Kolko- writer/PR pro at The Summit Federal Credit Union and author of the CUInsight Article, “Five credit union marketing tips inspired by 80s heavy metal” to discuss member engagement. So, tune in and turn it up. What's covered?· What inspired Cynthia to write the article in the first place. A self-declared “kook,” Cynthia saw this genre (what she calls “grilled cheese,” because it's cheesy but still has a bit of a “burnt edge” to it) as a creative way to get some ideas out there.· Some of the challenges credit unions face when trying to connect with their members. (Hint: the words “different” and “memorable” get some serious play here.)· What CUs and FIs can do to bring some of that nostalgia (80's and other) back, during these especially challenging times.· For you Guns N' Roses fans out there: why they weren't in her original article. (You'll have to listen in. ;))· Some CUs Cynthia thinks are incorporating these marketing strategies really, really well. - The Summit Federal CU, for one. She discusses their sponsoring the Taste of Syracuse Festival- a big gesture to the community. And some other examples (including a mention of CRMNEXT's current #rightonthemoney2020 campaign…small, shameless plug ;)) come up.· Cynthia's advice on how CUs can best gain the trust of younger audiences, in particular. One big point here: credit unions need talk more about themselves! The fact that CUs are not-for-profit is not commonly known, and it needs to be.· The best way to reach out to Cynthia: ckolko@summitfcu.org. Digital Disruption. It's a phrase we hear a lot, and for good reason. And it's precisely the kind of disruption financial institutions can lead right now. This week on Banking On Experience, CRMNEXT's James Gilbert is joined by Jim Perry, Senior Strategist at Market Insights, Inc. to discuss this very topic. What's covered? · Why Jim believes this topic is so important right now. It's not a new topic, but- as he says, “COVID has already liberated a lot of consumers from that transactional dependency on the branch. So that means we have to be talking about this topic.” · What this buzz phrase, digital disruption really means. Hint: Look at Capital One (disrupted our concept of branch), Robinhood (disrupted investing), Prosper (disrupted lending), and Chime (currently out there disrupting mobile banking as we know it.) · What digital transformation- another popular buzz phrase- means. As he says, “It's not just about technology. It's about culture. It's about business model. It's about process…It's even about your mindset. It really requires dramatic change.” · What FIs should avoid in this endeavor. Jim's word of caution? Trying to integrate digital technologies just into the customer facing part of the bank- and not tending to the backend, the employees, and the processes- just slows everything down. · The How: a framework for where to start. For one thing, look at your branch network, your call center, your back office, your c-suite, your employees. Does everybody understands why you're trying to do these things? · What functions of a business- especially at an FI- need to be involved up front, in the strategy. Keep in mind: regardless of the title or function in the organization, you have to have people driving this initiative that are really going to champion the customer. It always comes back to people, people. · How brand and culture play a role in this digital transformation and disruption. Jim suggests some Qs to ask yourself, and you'll want to take notes. · For true digital transformation, the importance of having the right people in the right jobs. · Some of the biggest challenges financial institutions are facing right now. For one thing, the core system many have had for so long really doesn't play well with new technology. And, if you don't tie systems together and keep up as a FI, a FinTech company will swoop in and do it for you. · What Jim thinks relevant data is. Fundamentally- he says- it's data about the customer or member and their specific journey with your FI.

For one thing, as Luis says, “Languages can help any organization convert the language barrier into a competitive advantage.”· The travesty that is underbanked minority populations in your community, and the amount of business lost due to the inability to communicate.· The ways in which banks and CUs need to adapt in order to tap into this market.· What it means for Credit Unions to make good on their commitment to community…a whole community.· What financial institutions can do to train their current employees, as well as find new talent that are multi-lingual.· How the “new normal” has created a need for even more emphasis on multi-lingual options at Banks and Credit Unions.· Technological options and their supplemental role vs. an actual human being who can speak the language.· Several ways people can leverage their language skills and communication, from a functional standpoint in business.· How a Credit Union can decide if this needs to be an initiative, some examples of companies that are doing this really well (Bank of America, for one), and precisely how they've gone about making successful changes.· In a CU that really incorporates language diversification changes: how it shifts the way community sees them as a cultural fit.· The ways in which your company can help to serve the diversity problem our country is currently struggling with so much.· How you can reach Luis- as he'd love to get feedback and help your organization try to implement these goals and tap into these amazing benefits.o Via his website: www.languageventuresinc.como Instagram: @language_ventureso Email: speakboldly@languageventuresinc.comYou can find this interview, and many more, by subscribing to Banking on Experience Podcast on iTunes. How to reach out to James Gilbert: Customer Experience and Why It’s So Important When you’re a business, one of your biggest goals is likely to bring in customers. In the long run, though, it costs significantly more to attract new customers than it does to cultivate the customers your company already has. So what role does customer experience play in this cultivation? James Gilbert of CloudCherry explains how CX can be a key driver of business growth and profitability in this podcast episode. Keep reading for the details. Successful Customers Vs. New Customers People tend to trust companies that bring a human element to their customer experience. This means treating consumers like partners, rather than a sale. Doing this has been shown to reap huge benefits, as successful customers often become advocates that function as an “engine” for inbound sales and referral marketing galore. Bringing a human element to your customer experience doesn’t stop with the marketing department, however. Every department within your business needs to be synced and collaborate to give people the best interactions possible at each step of the customer journey. Companies often struggle with implementing a customer focused mindset throughout their business, as identifying pain points and the best place to begin reform can be difficult. It’s All About Alignment If you’re going to begin a customer experience program, success begins at the top of your organization. Every person in your company, from the CEO to the most junior worker, has to live and breathe creating great experiences for customers. The more aligned your business is on customer experience, the easier it will become to identify and address customer pain points before they become major issues. This applies to every step of the customer journey, from awareness to investment and beyond. Simply put, organization alignment means looking at every customer interaction with the mindset of “how can we give them the best experience”, rather than “what’s in it for me”. If you can do that, your business will be leagues ahead of competitors, and you’ll be guaranteed to see yield from happy customers and their advocacies. To get started, James recommends mapping out every step of your customer journey and analyzing the type of experience those steps provide. Every aspect of your business needs to be geared toward customer success if you want to turn customers into advocates and see long-term growth and profit. Marketing and Customer Experience As you map out your customer journey, it’s important to keep in mind that every person will have a unique path they take to become your customers. These journeys will vary depending on customer personas, the marketing channels they convert with, and much more. To be successful, you will need to analyze every avenue and optimize them to promote customer engagement and satisfaction. Common CX Mistakes Companies Make More often than not, companies seeking to create a solid consumer experience will make the mistake of implementing their plan without first having organization alignment. Every interaction a customer has with your company needs to be backed up, and if even one encounter is off, you run the risk of having your efforts fall flat. Another mistake businesses tend to make with customer experience is pushing consumers into making purchases. Purchases and investments in your company should be the natural result of a person’s interactions with you, not of aggressive sales decks. If you can create a positive customer experience within your sales process, you’ll stand out and make sales without having to press. Everything comes naturally when you have a customer-centric culture. The Role of CX In Long-Term Growth and Profitability A strong company alignment that centers on implementing a positive customer experience is a huge driver of ROI. In fact, keeping current customers happy costs significantly less over time than treating them poorly and focusing ...

NCAAF 3:30 EST Rotation #321-322 Akron -6 over Ball State Ball State lost a lot of defensive talent from their team last year as it showed last week against Western Michigan. On Offense Ball State didn’t return much talent either and they key guys they did return are all out of this game today with injury. James Gilbert is a big part of this running game so without him this team is lost. Riley Neal is out with a leg injury and Corey Lacanaria is out at wide receiver. This team is just hurting badly due to injury and young talent. Akron has a little bit better of an offensive line and more talented skill players in this game. Look for the Zips to get the home win by throwing the ball all over this defense. Take Akron.
