What exactly did Christ accomplish in his life, death, and resurrection—and why does it matter for the Christian life today? In this episode, Nate Shannon is joined by Michael McClenahan to explore the theological foundation of John Murray's Redemption Accomplished and Applied, reflecting on the necessity, nature, and perfection of Christ's saving work. Along the way, they consider how a deeper understanding of the atonement leads not only to greater doctrinal clarity, but also to greater confidence in the love of God revealed in Christ. What if the very thing driving your success is also the thing preventing you from ever feeling fulfilled? In this episode, I break down one of the most common—and costly—patterns I see among entrepreneurs, executives, CEOs, and ambitious professionals: building a life fueled by the need to prove you're worthy. To prove your father wrong. To prove your siblings wrong. To prove your critics wrong. To prove that you're enough. The dangerous part? It works. It helps you make more money, achieve more goals, build bigger businesses, and outwork almost everyone around you. But eventually, that same fuel source becomes the reason you feel anxious, restless, emotionally exhausted, disconnected from your family, and incapable of enjoying everything you've built. In this episode, you'll learn: Why "prove it" energy is one of the most powerful drivers of success The hidden reason achievement never feels like enough How childhood experiences shape adult ambition Why success built on validation creates emotional exhaustion The relationship between proving yourself and burnout How "prove it" energy impacts marriages and families Why many successful people secretly feel empty The difference between fulfillment-driven success and validation-driven success If you've ever felt like no achievement is enough, like you're constantly moving the goalposts, or like success feels heavier than it should, this episode is for you. Time Stamps: 00:00: The childhood decision that quietly shaped a man's entire life and career 1:58: Why tens of millions of dollars still wasn't enough 5:08: The most dangerous thing about "prove it" energy 9:19: Why proving people wrong is like rocket fuel 11:11: The reason no achievement ever feels satisfying 12:47: Why successful people still feel anxious, restless, and behind 14:42: The wealth manager who sacrificed peace to make President's Club 16:25: The unconventional way to measure success that changed everything 18:03: Why success starts feeling heavy instead of fulfilling 19:08: The hidden cost of always needing to prove yourself 20:07: Why you can never truly turn off when your worth depends on achievement 22:00: The fatherhood story that stopped me in my tracks 24:12: The devastating question every high performer should answer 25:21: Who would you be if you stopped trying to prove yourself? 26:05: Why the most fulfilled people stop asking success to tell them who they are I help high performers get unstuck and out of their own way to unlock their potential. Who was John Murray, and why does his little book Redemption Accomplished and Applied continue to shape Reformed theology more than half a century after its publication? In this introductory episode, Nate Shannon is joined by Dr. Stafford Carson and Paul Woo to discuss Murray's life, legacy, and distinctive approach to theology. Before diving into the book itself, they explore the man whose careful exegesis, profound humility, and devotion to Christ left a lasting mark on Westminster Seminary and the wider church. Welcome back to the show, folks. On today's episode, we're diving deep into the chaos unfolding at the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey. We've got leftist activists and open-borders supporters out there protesting — many of them clashing with police, ignoring curfews, and getting arrested — all because they're putting illegal immigrants ahead of American citizens and the rule of law. Detainees inside launched a hunger strike claiming poor conditions, but this whole spectacle looks more like another chapter in the radical left's war on immigration enforcement. Then, we're breaking down a tough question: Why isn't President Trump's strong 'law and order' message delivering the results we expected? With continued protests, resistance from blue-state politicians, and pushback even from some local officials, what's really holding back decisive action on the border and inside these facilities? Sermon by David Rountree on 5/31/26 at New Covenant Church in Anderson, SC. Scripture Passage: John 14:12-17 Outline: What are the Greater Works? (v.12) Who are the Workers of Christ? (v.12) How are the Works to be Accomplished? 1. Prayer Power (v. 13-14): 2. Obedience Power (v. 15): 3. Holy Spirit Power (v. 16,17):
This sermon on Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA) proclaims that Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, voluntarily bore the full penalty of humanity's sins as our substitute on the cross, satisfying God's justice and wrath so believers can be forgiven and reconciled. Reflecting on His final hours (Matthew 27:45-56 and parallels), it highlights three key words: "Forsaken"—Jesus' cry of abandonment (Matthew 27:46) as He endured divine judgment in our place amid supernatural darkness; "Finished" (tetelestai)—His victorious declaration that redemption was paid in full, completing the once-for-all sacrifice; and "Confessed"—the centurion's acknowledgment of Jesus as the Son of God after the signs of victory. Because He was forsaken, we are welcomed; because He finished the work, nothing more is needed; and because He was confessed as Lord, we can turn from self-effort to rest in His accomplished redemption as children of promise.

As we close our sermon series in Esther, we are reminded that God is always at work, even when His hand seems hidden. What began as a threat against God's people was turned into deliverance, gladness, and remembrance as the Jews were rescued from their enemies and established the feast of Purim. Through Esther and Mordecai, we see God's providence, His protection, and His faithfulness to preserve His people. Esther invites us to remember that sorrow does not have the final word, and that God is able to turn mourning into joy for His glory and the good of His people.

In this segment, Mark is joined by Jacob Olidort, a Chief Research Officer and Director of American Security at the America First Policy Institute. They discuss the latest on the China Summit now that President Trump is back in the United States as well as the latest on the Strait of Hormuz.
On Happening This Week, we break down one of the most closely watched diplomatic events of 2026: the Trump–Xi Summit in Beijing. After two days of pageantry, state banquets, and high‑stakes meetings, President Donald Trump left China declaring he had secured “fantastic trade deals… great for both countries.” But with few details released, the world is asking: What actually happened behind closed doors? MoneyFM 89.3 Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen talks with Eric Olander, co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of The China Global South Project to understand the dynamics. Trump arrived with a heavyweight delegation of CEOs spanning agriculture, aviation, EVs, and AI chips signalling that trade was the real centrepiece despite tensions over the Iran war. Businesses hoped for clarity on tariffs, especially with the current truce set to expire in November. Instead, the summit delivered warm rhetoric, symbolic gestures, and an invitation for Xi to visit the White House in September. To help us unpack the substance behind the spectacle, we’re joined by Eric Olander, one of the world’s leading analysts on US–China relations. Eric explains what was said, what wasn’t, and what this summit means for global markets, supply chains, and Asia’s geopolitical balance.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Over 600,000 Black women have been displaced from their jobs in the last 18 months and that single statistic explains a lot about what's happening inside workplaces right now: people are scared, and fear is making them quiet. When job security feels fragile, it's easy to start treating a paycheck as something you should be grateful for, even when it's already too small. That silence doesn't just slow down your career; it keeps you underpaid and makes it harder to move into leadership with the power and choice you deserve. We unpack what I call the “just be grateful” trap, why it hits Black women so hard at the intersection of racial bias and gender bias, and what you can do about it.If you're ready to stop shrinking and start advocating with confidence, hit play, then subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find this conversation.__It's time to position yourself for the powerful career you deserve, not what they're willing to give you. Anxiety and leadership often go hand in hand, whether a mom, an entrepreneur, or a corporate executive. If you are a leader, you have most likely experienced the fact that anxiety and leadership go hand-in-hand. The Dual Leadership Model™ is designed to help Christian women leaders and others break through anxiety-driven behaviors to lead with calm, confidence, and consistency. Christian Women Leaders You are capable. Driven. Accomplished. You lead a team, run a business, raise a family, or do all three at once. People look to you. You show up. You deliver. And yet, something feels off. Do you find yourself snapping at the people closest to you and then feeling a wave of shame? Maybe you lie awake running through every decision you made that day, wondering if you did enough. Perhaps you say yes when every part of you wants to say no — and then resent it later. Are you are exhausted in a way that sleep does not fix. Here is what no one is telling you: it is not a time management problem. It is not a discipline problem. And it is not a character flaw. It is a loop. And you have been stuck in it longer than you know. High-Achiever Celebration of Anxiety and Leadership What Is the Dual Leadership Loop Model™? The Dual Leadership Loop Model™ is built on a simple but profound truth: at any given moment, you are leading from one of two loops. Loop One: The Anxiety Response Loop The anxiety-driven behaviors at the center of the anxiety response loop: Perfectionism People-pleasing Need for control Defensiveness and overreacting Avoidance Imposter syndrome Comparison Loop Two: The Calm, Confident, and Consistent Leadership Loop The Calm, Confident, Consistent Leadership Loop produces: Clarity and confidence Steady, consistent decision-making Healthy, honest relationships Resilience without rigidity Sustainable growth without burnout The kind of leadership others want to follow The Neuroscience Behind the Anxiety Response Loop The Combination of Neuroscience and Faith For those of us who follow Christ, there is a layer to this that goes deeper than neuroscience. Five Shifts That Will Change How You Lead Anxiety-driven behaviors are your nervous system's way of trying to protect you. They are not character flaws — they are survival adaptations. You are not flawed. Anxiety is biological — not a personal failure. You did not choose it, but you can learn to work with it. Anxiety does not define you. Your identity is not your nervous system response. You are not stuck. You can choose a different response right now. Striving is not sustainable. Regulated leadership is. What to Expect in This Series Over the next six episodes, we are going to walk through each anxiety-driven behavior in the loop — people-pleasing, perfectionism, need for control, imposter syndrome, comparison, defensiveness, and avoidance. We will explore where each one comes from, what it is costing you, what the research says, and most importantly, how to move out of it. This is not a series about trying harder. It is a series about leading differently, better, and safer. Your Next Step as Christian Women Leaders Before the next episode, I want you to do one thing: pay attention and notice what is happening for you. Read the full show notes and access the reflection questions.

Dr. Srianee Dias arrived in the United States from her native country of Sri Lanka in the 1970's. She was part of a program of doctors who were recruited from S. Asia during a time when there weren't enough medical students graduating from the U.S. medical schools. Traveling with her two very young daughters and arriving in NYC was a big tremendous life change for her. Uprooted from her loving family at home to her tiny apartment in Brooklyn, she was ready to embrace this opportunity and chose to pursue the area of pathology. As a pathologist she began her residency in southern CT and later moved north for a larger role. Learning English under the British model in Sri Lanka, she often critiqued the grammar of her colleagues only to quickly understand that not all “English” was the same. Her diligent work ethic, coupled with her warm personality, made her a highly desirable practitioner and deeply respected by fellow doctors and staff. She worked with unwavering focus and persistence, and was licensed in thirteen states as a pathologist traveling extensively for her work. She speaks candidly about the COVID pandemic and how as a retired pathologist she conformed to protocols in place. Srianee especially loved when her mother would visit and help with caring for her daughters. These occasional visits were supportive and affirming to her and keeping traditional Sri Lankan customs alive was a priority. She loved gathering with her community of friends and medical colleagues and was eager to share authentic Sri Lankan food and recipes with her non-Sri Lankan friends. After over 4 decades living and working in the U.S., she recently returned to Sri Lanka to live near her siblings and cousins but she describes both places as “home”, embracing the fact that it doesn't have to be just one place. As a curious and truly global-minded person, Srianee sees opportunity in travel and exploration and visits her daughters, grandchildren and friends as often as possible. Her love for her country is beautifully expressed as she shares the term, “Ayubowan”, a greeting that translates to “wishing you long life and an aura of happiness and grace”. This quote exemplifies how you feel when you meet and listen to Srianee's story.

Last month was one of those good, steady months in family history where I didn't uncover some huge surprise, but I still got a lot done. I didn't add a long line of new names just to make the tree bigger. I didn't solve every question that's been sitting there waiting on me, either. But I did make real progress, and when I look back on it now, I can see that the kind of progress I made is the kind that helps later. I spent most of my time working on one family line instead of bouncing all over the place. That alone helped a lot. When I let myself drift from one branch to another, it's easy to end up with a pile of notes, too many open tabs, and not much that feels settled. Last month, I wanted to be more careful than that. I wanted to stay with one line, look at it closely, and really see what I had, what I still needed, and what I may have assumed too quickly before. That turned out to be a good way to spend the month. By the end of it, I hadn't finished every single thing I wanted to finish, but I knew that line better than I did when the month began. I had a clearer view of the people in it. I had a better sense of which records were helping me and which ones were raising new questions. I also had a much better idea of what I want to do next. That's a solid month of family history work in my book...
