In this episode we're joined by Sharon Holand Gelfand, a Holistic Function Nutritionist and author of “The Gut Method.” As Sharon puts it, she didn't find gut health - gut health found her. She actually started out in banking and finance, but when her son was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, she decided to pursue further education in functional nutrition. What she discovered was the gut-brain connection. Sharon also had health issues herself, including IBS, eczema, hypoglycemia, and consistent immune dysfunction. The more she learned, the more small changes she implemented. As she made these small changes, she got better. With her newfound knowledge, her son was better able to manage his symptoms as well. There is new and fascinating research about the gut-brain connection . Food doesn't just influence how you feel in your body, but it also impacts your mental health. We discussed a new study regarding gut inflammation and prevalence of mental health issues. It's more important now than ever to acknowledge and appreciate just how powerful the food we put in our body can be.  In The Gut Method, Sharon shares her story and helps the reader identify patterns so that they feel empowered to make changes instead of getting overwhelmed. The book also touches on gut mapping and how it can be a very useful tool for evaluating overall health.  We talk about the changes Sharon made in her life, especially since going through menopause. Specifically, sensitivities to certain things, including alcohol. Sharon has adjusted her life accordingly, and she rarely drinks like she did before. Putting her health first is always worth it. "Stories mean a lot to everyone. As Sharon and Alex and thier guests got into in the Hero's Journey podcast, they are how we make sense of the world. Is Tiger's Eye more powerful to some because it follows that monomyth path closer than others? Does it feel more primal, closer to the ancient mythologies that came before? Is that why I end up responding to it like I did? I don't know." Part 5 to a very long episode. We finally tie it all together. We visit the symbolism of Hakka at his lowest place. We see the final stage of the journey and journeys of all three of our protagonists, how they contribute and reflect on each other. We take a closer look at the Hero's Journey and how it contributes to the context and framing.  We talk about the importance of tools in storytelling, that you need more than one for a properly nuanced story, but that the oldest tools still have power when used right. All of it leading into how these storytelling tools will also become prominent when we use them on ourselves in the final episode of Tiger's Eye. Three months after her second live coaching session with Sharon Pearson for #Perspectives podcast ‘Mother Load Part II’—and six months after her first session—Sydney corporate recruiter and life coach Sasha Dumaresq returns for a third session and follow-up episode. Rather than exploring strategies and frameworks around parenting, Sharon calls this third ‘Mother Load’ a “deep dive into the beingness of our humanity.” As Sharon says, the first two sessions were quite detailed around external things “whereas this one really went to what I believe is the heart of coaching, which is the inner journey where we coach to self. If you are a coach, you will see a lot of reframes in this coaching session … but what I think the heart of this session is really about that lit me up was what Sasha claimed back for herself or what was the gift that she was waiting to give herself.” CONNECT WITH SHARON Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SharonPearsonFanPage/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sharon.pearson.official/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sharonpearsontcicoach/ Website: https://www.sharonpearson.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/Sharon_Pearson_ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7zP_SmBHzsZG8lmInQBgHQ Resources: - Order Ultimate You Book: https://tci.rocks/order-ultimate-you · Upcoming Events at The Coaching Institute - www.thecoachinginstitute.com.au/trainings · Phone The Coaching Institute - 1800 094 927 · Feedback/Reviews/Suggest a topics be discussed - perspectives@sharonpearson.com Follow The Coaching Institute: Website: https://www.thecoachinginstitute.com.au/ Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/BecomeALifeCoach Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-coaching-institute/ Institute :https://www.instagram.com/thecoachinginstitute/

Tonight's special guest is Sharon Simonson from Greensboro, North Carolina, a survivor of child abuse. As Sharon explains, “I was sexually abused multiple times before the age of 12 by men who I knew and trusted. I suffered from guilt and shame and began using drugs as a teen to cope with my pain. The use of drugs led to addiction in my adult life. After a failed marriage, unsuccessful relationships, and my life a complete mess, I finally reached out for professional help. The therapy helped me to finally address my sexual abuse.” Sharon is an advocate and writer who educates, inspires and encourages others to make powerful changes in their lives, with messages centered on hope, unwavering faith and perseverance. Not wanting to see people suffer the way she had, Sharon told her story by writing a book. As the founder and CEO of Angel Wings Publications, LLC, a publication company, she self-published her first book, ‘Without Permission: A Spiritual Journey to Healing,' in 2011. Sharon is also the founder of Angel Wings Bridge Foundation, a non-profit organization to support and empower sexual abuse victims. The Foundation serves as a bridge, linking victims to professional resources that promote healing through support, education and spirituality. Sharon passionately speaks out about prevention and awareness of sexual abuse, focusing on educating and inspiring audiences at faith-based organizations, at-risk teen groups, students, and incarcerated women. Sharon promotes self-empowerment to overcome obstacles that hinder individual growth. Through the use of personal experience, as well as real life tools, Sharon connects with abuse survivors and their support systems in a manner that helps elevate them to positions of self-love, courage and strength of purpose.

All about Feminine EnergyMy guest Sharon Cohen, PhD has been working in the mental health field for over 25 years. She has also specialized in love and relationships for the past 7 years, but as she states during the interview, she has always been passionate about the subject. Her main clientele is women in their 30’s and 40’s, but she does work with men as well! She says she is committed to helping women find the right relationship for them.In this episode, in particular, she taps into her knowledge base to teach us about the dynamic energy fields at the root of all relationships. Often there are masculine and feminine interplays in energy and the best, most stable relationships have a healthy balance of the two. She talks much more in-depth about this fascinating subject within. Enjoy! The Red, Yellow, and Green Flags of a RelationshipIn Sharon’s program, she has something called the red/yellow/green flag process, in which she helps her clients to become aware of the people to avoid, as well as the people to pursue a lasting, healthy relationship for you.Sharon says believes that it’s really important to know completely what you don’t want in a relationship. So she has her clients make a list of the 3 non-negotiables to make sure that once the honeymoon period ends in a relationship, the negative qualities they don’t want will not surface unexpectedly. The Importance of Self-AwarenessSharon says that some clients work under the assumption and belief that all of the people they’ve dated are the problem instead of taking some of the ownership for relationship troubles. She said that self-awareness is key to having a healthy relationship, and it’s challenging to work with clients who don’t have any self-awareness.This goes hand in hand with being willing to change. As Sharon shares, if you’re not willing to change, then no change will happen.Common Mistakes Her Clients Are MakingA common problem that some of her clients run into is that many of the women feel they have to stop being confident and independent in their work life to have a relationship. But she says that for those who say they want to be completely independent, they might as well not be in a relationship. Relationships, by definition, require interdependencyIn addition, she also comes across difficulties regarding the dynamic between feminine and masculine energies. For those who are not aware, a balance of masculine and feminine energies seems to spark a healthier interplay during a relationship. These energies are not the same as your gender identity. All people can have both masculine and feminine energy, and each couple functions better if both energies are represented. Couples often struggle when feminine energy is lacking.Understanding all of this is very important and Sharon talks much more about it within the episode!Energy Dynamic Within Same-Sex CouplesSharon says that even with same-sex couples, some people will tend to be more masculine than feminine in their energies. Again, gender identity is not the defining characteristic here. There is an energy range that fluctuates and changes regularly.Working with SexSharon says that she works with couples who have trouble communicating their individual sexual desires. Giving each partner a voice and opportunity to respond in an open way is vital for any healthy, fulfilling relationship. She uses a script that is kind of awkward at first, but also somewhat humorous. And through that practice and approach, the difficult subject can be broached in an effective, non-intimidating way.Key Links for Dr. Sharon CohenSharon’s website (check out her free-ebook and make a consultation with Sharon!): https://drsharoncohen.com/More info:Book and New Course – https://sexwithoutstress.comWeb – https://www.bettersexpodcast.com/Sex Health Quiz – http://sexhealthquiz.com/If you’re enjoying the podcast and want to be a part of making sure it continues in the future, consider being a patron. In the face of a plethora of ‘Wild West’ references around the ground-breaking innovation of the blockchain space, is the old way of doing business, the old way of making money, facing its final frontier? Does the battle to keep this space regulated end up like Tombstone, Arizona? Or, making money - without the Mint. Or, bringing Outlaws, in law. Pierre Bourke of Blockchain Radio interviews two leading lights of the British Blockchain Association, Sharon Henley and Barry E James, about how the organisation came about, what are its aims, and what is the future for the sector. And, back to the Wild West once again – is the BBA as colonial as its name suggests, or can it build an international community? Having been established for over a year, the aim of the British Blockchain Association is to support all those coming together in the blockchain space, entrepreneurs, governments, other organisations, to build a community, to offer guidance, and to become the voice for the industry. As Sharon notes, there’s so much changing right now, really, really fast; and the BBA looks to bring it all, calmly, together. And as Barry adds, the BBA really is interested in reinventing the world, in reinventing money, reinventing business, reinventing the internet – reinventing pretty much everything. Blockchain is about rebuilding the world – and Barry’s in! To start the ball rolling, the BBA went direct to the entrepreneurs and asked them, what do you want from us? What can we do to help? And they said that while of course they’re looking for funding for their ventures, for support with marketing and legal issues – more than anything, they want to cut through the noise, to have their venture percolate to the top. They want visibility. Now, the Global Blockchain Ventures Scheme, a partnership between the BBA and TokenIntelligence, is set to do just that. Because in a world of around 2,000 coins, how do investors tell good from bad from ugly? The Global Blockchain Ventures Scheme is working to bring all they learned over the last decade, about regulation, innovation and especially transparency, to bear on what it now a global phenomenon – and a global problem which needs to be solved, fast. After all, if this space ends up like the OK Corral, and the reinvention of money and the internet, bringing on a brave new world of commerce and business, becoming a battle, we need both sides to be the guys in the white hats to see us safely through.

Charlie stopped barking as soon as he saw me. I knew now why he had been quiet for the past few minutes. He'd been digging away in the dirt, which he resumed upon my arrival. I looked for his leash and spotted it a few yards away, half buried by the dirt he flung to all sides. I picked up the leash before Charlie could get to it first. As soon as I did, I also spied what appeared to be an animal bone. Most likely a deer.  But when I turned to see what Charlie was digging up now, my heart sank. It was another bone, but not one belonging to a deer. In fact, it was far more than a bone. It was a human skull.  -- Sharon Farrow, Blackberry Burial I am so excited to be talking to Sharon Farrow, and not just because I'm a fan of her Berry Basket Mystery Series. With her friend and fellow author Meg Mims, she also writes the delightful Eliza Doolittle and Henry Higgins Mysteries as D.E. Ireland.  In fact, Sharon talks a little about how writing the first book in that series, Wouldn't It Be Deadly, was somewhat challenging to the friendship. Luckily, the partnership survived; not only are the books themselves great fun, I think Sharon and Meg win the Best Cozy Title Award with every novel.  You can also check out her romances, written under the name Sharon Pisacreta. Truly, Sharon has written something for everyone! Sharon's Berry Basket mysteries make use of berries in every possible way -- as clues, as scones, as wine. Sharon gives a shout-out to her inspiration, The Blueberry Store in South Haven, MI, and I offer you a link to their mouth-watering Pinterest page. Blueberries, yum... Sharon also makes a great case for why cozies matter. Those of us who love them don't have to be convinced, but there are times when cozy novels are dismissed as unimportant. As Sharon says, there can be enormous comfort in a good cozy, and that is just as valuable an emotion as those generated by a good thriller or noir. She herself reads Laura Childs, Cleo Coyle, Bailey Cates (who was new to me, woot!), and she mentions her debt of gratitude to Gillian Roberts for her Amanda Pepper mysteries, which helped Sharon through a difficult time. I don't normally ask for comments, but if anyone wants to share a book that helped them through a rough go, I think that kind of recommendation is a real gift we can give each other. Here are Sharon's own mystery series, in order: Berry Basket Mysteries 1 - Dying for Strawberries  2 - Blackberry Burial  3 - Killed on Blueberry Hill (available for pre-order) Eliza Doolittle and Henry Higgins Mysteries 1 - Wouldn't It Be Deadly 2 - Move Your Blooming Corpse 3 - Get Me To The Grave On Time You can find Sharon at SharonFarrowAuthor.com, the D.E. Ireland Facebook page, and on Twitter as both @SharonFarrowBB and @DEIrelandAuthor. As always, if you'd rather read than listen, the transcript is below. Enjoy! -- Laura ************************************************************* Transcript of Interview with Sharon Farrow Laura Brennan: My guest today is the author of the Berry Basket Mysteries, delightful cozies full of friendship, warmth, and, of course, murder. But Sharon Farrow is no stranger to the genre. She is an award-winning author of romantic stand-alones, short stories, and -- as half of the writing team D.E. Ireland -- the Eliza Doolittle and Henry Higgins Mystery Series. Sharon, thank you for joining me. Sharon Farrow: Thank you for having me, Laura. LB: You’ve been writing professionally for quite a while. SF: Yes. LB: You had an award-winning debut novel. You kind of jumped onto the scene with Stolen Hearts. SF: Yes, that was gratifying because I didn’t grow up either reading romances or even planning on being a romance writer. And I sort of stumbled into the genre. And to have my first novel win Best First Book was a surprise and quite wonderful. So, yes, I’m very pleased about that. And I’m still surprised. Looking back,

Within 12 months Sharon had started to get results – she has since built her online business up to $5000 per month and growing while she enjoys living in Penang (very affordably) and traveling the world from her base with her family of 4 (also very affordably). In this interview Sharon shares the story of how she built her blog, how she finds living in Penang, and gives some tips on how to monetize a travel blog which she also shares via her website www.digitalnomadwannabe.com What I learned from Sharon’s interview: You can build a blog worth $5000 per month. We know from our interview with Yeison and Samantha that this is possible. Sharon did it by having a plan as to how she hoped to earn it and working hard on targeting to her market. SEO is important. Sharon focused on this part of building her blog, knowing that it would take time but would give her strong long term benefits so that she could eventually just focus her time on maintaining her business Invest in learning what you need to learn. Sharon spent all the initial money she made from her blog on educating herself further Diversify your income. Sharon has been closed down by an affiliate company so it only emphasizes that you don’t want to rely entirely on any one source of income – you never know when Facebook, Google or someone else will decide they don’t like what you are doing – and remember; with many of these large companies you are considered guilty until you prove you are innocent. Write quality content. Too often when looking to earn online income or build traffic it becomes a focus about looking for tricks to build your business. As Sharon rightly says it isn’t just about the number of website visitors but whether you are getting the right visitors who will take action. Don’t become fixated on page views either. Look at Norwegian airlines for budget flights. I just priced a fare from Bangkok to Oslo at $US152. They also offer transatlantic deals – may be well worth a look You can travel Europe on under $100 per day as a family of four, its all about traveling slow and looking for affordable food and accommodation. Crack those nuts and the cost can drop substantially.
