Joe Edwards is a developer and businessman with the Delmar Loop and affectionately known as "The Duke of Delmar." He joined us this morning to discuss the 52nd Annual Blueberry Hill Darts Tournament and other happenings from one of the greatest streets in America.
We wanna hear from you! Send us a message here :) Chris Bandi is a firm believer in music's power to unify others. He has a multifaceted voice that immediately resonates with any soul listening. And his music gives a natural sense of roots for those who need it most because he is among the few artists making music in Nashville today to have lived in three of America's most musically sacred places. Bandi is proud to follow in the lineage of legendary musicians from his native St. Louis. He was raised on his father's taste in obscure rock with a heavy dose of his mother's affinity for '90s country music. He remembers CDs being on the grocery list as a child and browsing the aisles of the city's many great record shops. The soundtrack riding with friends to high school football practice was a mix of Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw and fellow St. Louisan, Nelly. However, performance became life after attending his first concert where he saw Garth Brooks fly over the audience in a harness at St. Louis' Enterprise Center. In high school, he started his first band, a rock outfit that played throughout the city, including the iconic Duck Room at Chuck Berry's Blueberry Hill. He continued music in college at the University of Mississippi at Oxford by playing in a cover band with an alternative ambition to mostly get into bars and drink for free. It was his time in Mississippi that enriched a deeper dive into country music. The songs of early Luke Bryan and Eric Church spoke to the life he was living at the time. He honed his craft relentlessly playing the same small clubs that built Bryan and Church's loyal followings in college towns within a reasonable driving distance of Oxford Six days after receiving his degree in marketing and communications in 2013, he moved to Nashville to become a professional musician. He arrived with 100 original songs, and his first place was a friend's closet, where he slept on an air mattress. In his first few years in Music City, he got by on the money he made going back to play gigs in Oxford and St. Louis on the weekends. During the week, he treated Nashville writers' rounds and open mic nights as if they were their own tour, and he played constantly. Within two years of his arrival in town, he reconnected with booking agent Brendan Rich, a college friend he knew through music at Ole Miss, and wrote a song with hit-makers Jason Massey and Jason Duke that would change everything for him.Chrisbandi.com Support the Show.

We touch upon the ongoing permitting, metallurgical work, and other derisking work the company is doing in the background, in addition to the exploration upside at both the Snake Pond and Blueberry Hill areas that could bring more shallow high-grade ounces into the front end of the mine plane and further improve the project economics. Elaine also gives us her industry background along with profiling the experience of Omai Gold Mine's management team and board of directors. Additionally, she breaks down their relationship with strategic shareholder Silvercorp Metals, and Sandstorm Gold, in addition to other key strategic institutional funds and high net worth shareholder. On this week's episode, Josh has the chance to catch up with Joe Edwards, the “Duke of Delmar”, who is the visionary and developer behind the Delmar Loop – one of the 10 greatest streets in America (per the American Planning Association 2007). Joe opened his first business – the iconic restaurant, Blueberry Hill – in 1972 with the hope of revitalizing a once popular high fashion district in St. Louis, MO. During the next 50+ years, Joe has added music venues, a hotel, additional restaurants, a bowling alley, and, most recently, a mini golf spot to the now bustling entertainment district. Josh and Joe discuss the early challenges, pushing all chips into the center of the table on multiple occasions and his optimistic vision for the future. #STL #DelmarLoop #minigolf #blueberryhill #renovation

Sept 2, 1970 Oakland, CA. This is tonight's Led Zeppelin concert. It's right before Blueberry Hill and shines with that same magick. We Communication Breakdown (w/ Good Times Bad Times), a rare Train Kept A Rollin', Blueberry Hill and a raucous Long Tall Sally. Powerful and kinetic.
This program never aired because President Franklin Roosevelt gave one of his speeches to the nation via the radio networks. Eddie still did the show because a lot of people had tickets and had traveled to be in the audience. They had rehearsed the show with a "test audience" in the early afternoon. Cantor did that to see what jokes and routines were popular... dry run. He altered anything that didn't go over well with the "test audience" before the broadcast one came in. Dinah Shore (discovered by Eddie Cantor) does several songs, Mr. Guffy does a comedy skit with Eddie. The Bobby Sherwood Orchestra plays some very upbeat versions of "Blueberry Hill" and "Stardust" Eddie does a couple of comedy routines and takes questions from the audience. The show finished with Eddie singing a few old vaudeville songs that were requested by some people in the audience. "Backstory"... Eddie Cantor made $20,000 a show at the height of his career. More Eddie Cantor shows on the "Eddie Cantor" Playlist.

Tony Clark found his way to Vermont in the late 1960s. He bought an old farm in the middle of nowhere in Goshen and eventually turned it into an inn and cross-country ski center. One of his greatest legacies was helping to establish Vermont's 16,000-acre Moosalamoo National Recreation Area in 2007. Tony died a year ago in March 2022. Host Erica Houskeeper met with his daughter, Britta, who grew up at the inn and is now working on her Ph.D. at Harvard. She is also helping to run the property's Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center. The center offers about 35 kilometers of trails for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, mountain biking, and trail running. There are no fees as the center is run with help from volunteers and donations to keep the trails accessible to the public. https://happyvermont.com/2023/03/11/blueberry-hill-trails-goshen-podcast/ https://www.patreon.com/happyvermontpodcast

Páll Einarsson jarðeðlisfræðingur fór yfir upphaf og aðdraganda eldgossins sem hófst í Meradölum í gær. Hann rakti sögu jarðhræringa á Reykjanesskaganum en þar hafði jörðin verið til friðs síðan á þrettándu öld þar til það fór að gjósa í mars í fyrra eftir nokkrar jarðskjálftahrinur. Undir lokin rifjaði Bogi upp heimssýn Hans Roslings heitins sem var óþreytandi að benda á að þrátt fyrir stríðin, sjúkdómana og hallærin öll færi heimurinn batnandi. We're back after a six month break. Less chat, more music this time round. We start with a very laid back Louis Armstrong and his version of Blueberry Hill. Billie Anthony was born Philomena McGeachie Levy in Glasgow in 1932. Here she sings her biggest hit, This Ole House. There were a few covers of this record in the British charts. Rosemary Clooney made no1 but Billie Anthony made no4. She had a great voice and it's surprising that her career had just petered out by 1960. Tony Martin stirs up passions with Kiss of Fire. He had a seven decade career and was married to Alice Faye and Cyd Charisse- but not at the same time! Strict tempo dance music next. Developed to standardise dance styles strict tempo bands never had a vocalist. I suppose it could be accused of being a little souless but in this section of records its comes over as chilled and relaxing. Two from the king of strict tempo Victor Silvester. A dancer himself he, along with Josephine Bradley, was a founder member of The Imperial Society of teachers of dance. Which I have to say does sound a tad pompous! Silvester sold 70 million records in his time. Check him out below. Its a fascinating read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Silvester Both Josephine Bradley and Henry Jasques were originally dancers. Indeed Jasques was British Ballroom champion from 1934 to 36. His 1944 book on ballroom is still a highly sort after work. Latvian born Oscar Rabin joins the strict tempo crew with Love is all. Jo Stafford had highly successful career over five decades. Opera trained her voice is very pure. She married the band leader Paul Weston and they produced alot of fine work together. They had a side project though: Jonathon and Darlene Edwards, a truly bad caberet act. Listen here, if you dare: https://youtu.be/NySAbB2JLII Some more obscure artists next. Victor Olof with Tancuf, a Slovakian dance, Harry Wulson yodelling in 1929. He produced a few such records but I cannot find a biog of him. The Accordion Emsemble were probably a Zonophone house band, here they play Espana Valise recorded in 1920. Gene Austin was extremely well known in his time. One of the first crooners he was also a fine songwriter, When My Sugar Walks Down the Street and, Forgotten Songs favourite, The Lonesome Road are just two of his compositions. Here he sings- I've grown so lonesome thinking of you. PIano duo and co bandleaders Victor Arden and Phil Ohman give us Kiddie Kapers. That leads us perfectly to two records on 45rpm. First a track that was very popular in my 1960s and 70s childhood. Sparky's talking piano. It was actually recorded in 1947 with the child actor Henry Blair voicing Sparky. The rather creepy piano's voice was created by a Sonovox voice processor. Which makes the human voice sound, well, both robotic and musical. It was invented in 1939 and had an early notable demonstration by Lucille Ball in a Pathe newsreel. We dissolve seemlessly from that to Sacha Distel singing Ich bin ein spielman. Back to 78s with with Coleman Hawkins with Half step down please. Tito Burns and his Sextet play Sloppy Joe. Burns had a career as a musician, accordian and piano, and as an impresario and manager. He discovered Dusty Springfield, managed Cliff Richard and organised the European tours of Simon and Garfunkle. We close with Joe Daniels and Drumnastics. Hope you enjoy it. Its good to be back.
From The Beatles to Bob Dylan, nearly every musical icon of the last 60 years has given credit to St. Louis native, Chuck Berry as being the pioneer of rock and roll music. Berry was the first artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and had a string of popular hits including Johnny B. Goode, Roll Over Beethoven, and No Particular Place To Go. His later years included more than 200 monthly appearances at Blueberry Hill in the Delmar Loop neighborhood of St. Louis. Owner Joe Edwards was Berry's best friend for decades and talks about their friendship and what make Berry a musical genius.

Deep State Steps On Another Rake. We summarize the "Whistleblower" controversy presently engulfing MSM echo chambers. A clever scheme to inoculate Joe Biden against his Ukrainian Graft. A preemptive strategy of "tagged-you-first" against President Trump. Will it work? Or will it only draw attention to Biden's history of corruption? We listen to Biden boast of getting a Ukrainian prosecutor fired -- for the crime of investigating his son Hunter Biden. Reporter John Solomon sets the record straight on the alleged Whistleblower. It was Ukraine that reached out to Trump -- not the other way around. The Conservative Treehouse brings it home. Waiting for Victoria Nuland. Plus, we review the Fifth-Column tactics of lingering Never Trumpers. The phony corrals they've designed for American Patriots. How their saboteurs have thrown the game. Romney & McCain & Kristol. A Little Less Conversation from Lindsey Graham. Blueberry Hill. Notes on the Ken Burns Country Music documentary.
