Deacon takes it upon himself to interrogate Enola and decides that the “good cop” approach would work best. To that end, He offers her a cigarette and then a marker. Enola does not respond to either so Deacon begins to explain how his parish is quickly outgrowing the Deez. Enola is quick to point out that population control would help, but Deacon dismisses that idea. Special Guests: Doug Greenberg from Rocky Minute and Johnie Powers from Austin Powers Minute
Part Johnie. Part Jonathan. Part Travis. Part Patrick. Together, It’s Clobberin’ Time! This is one of those movies where the story behind the movie is more interesting than the movie itself. Before you listen to the episode, we absolutely recommend that you not only watch Roger Corman’s unreleased The Fantastic Four, but you also watch the documentary: Doomed! The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s The Fantastic Four. Links to both films below. The movie has a reputation for being a terrible film, but the documentary may give you some perspective that will change how you feel about The Fantastic Four. Joining us for this odd adventure are Johnie Powers of Austin Powers Minute fame, and Jonathan Howell who’s mandate is to cover both Mission: Impossible and Fast and the Furious franchises various lengths at a time. The episode opens with the camera pulling back to show an exact replica of the town of Rock Ridge. The townsfolk and the railroad workers all begin to celebrate at their accomplishment. We then cut to Hedley Lamarr's camp where he is about to give a speech. We point out a big continuity error with the German soldiers. Hedley opens his speech about stamping runaway decency. He then reminds everyone that they are only risking their lives. He is risking an almost certain nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He then gets them to take the beginning of the pledge to himself. We open still in the midst of the discussion over giving the railroad workers some land of their own. Olson Johnson decides they will give land to everybody. Suddenly, the divide between the two groups is filled as they join together with cheers and laughter. Reverend Johnson asks if they can complete their task in one night? Or are they just jerking off? The scene dissolves to the next day and we are outside of a miniature of the town of Rock Ridge. We then cut to a shot of them on Main Street. The shot is a fantastic, close-up dolly shot across the main players all admiring the work they have accomplished. We open the episode, continuing the scene in the middle of the prairie in the middle of the night. Howard Johnson asks how they plan to build a fake town? He tells Bart they don't have the time and they don't have the people. Bart tells him he is wrong just as the railroad workers show up. Howard asks who they are? Bart says, "Railroad workers!" He says they are willing to help and all they ask is a piece of land to call their own. The town is reluctant but initially agrees to all but the Irish. Unfortunately, Bart tells them, "No deal." We open the episode with Bart telling Charlie to say goodbye. As soon as Bart and Jim leave, Charlie begins to wake up the other railroad workers and tells them to start gathering supplies. The scene dissolves to an open area of prairie in the middle of the night. Bart addresses the folks of Rock Ridge. He says he knows they must want to know what they are doing out there in the middle of the night? In unison they all say, "You bet your a_s!" He's hip with them and then conveys his plan. They are going to build an exact replica of Rock Ridge overnight. The episode begins with the first in line having said "rape" twice. Hedley calls him on it. He says he really likes rape. He is deputized and then the next is asked to step forward. As he is giving his qualifications, it is obvious he is chewing gum. Hedley says, "I hope you brought enough for everybody." The man says he didn't know there would be so many. Hedley immediately shoots him dead. We cut to The Waco Kid and Sheriff Bart. The Kid says, "Boy is he strict." Bart wants to get closer. Jim has an idea upon seeing the two Klansman in their Have a Nice Day robes. Our guests today are Rick Ingham and Dave Pallas. The dolly shot continues down the lines of bad guys all lined up for Hedley's Army. We see bandits and cowboys followed by German WWII soldiers and an aviator who looks just like Mel Brooks. There are other desperadoes mixed in with biker gang members, moonshine runners, plantation owners and Arabian fighters on camel-back. The line wraps up with a pair of Klansman. Behind a boulder, Bart and Jim look over the villainous line of thugs and criminals. As the minute ends, Taggart calls the first man up and Hedley asks for qualifications. The man simply answers, "Rape, murder, arson and rape." Our guests today are Rick Ingham and Dave Pallas. The episode opens with Bart reading the notice Hedley Lamarr is circulating to recruit his army of ne'er-do-wells. Bart says it is the last act of a desperate man. Howard Johnson replies that he doesn't care if it's the first act of Henry the Fifth, they are all leaving. Bart then asks them to give him 24 hours to come up with a brilliant idea to save the town. They all say, "No!" Bart then says, "You'd do it for Randolph Scott." A hush travels through the townspeople. They whisper his name aloud. Suddenly, an unseen choir sings out the name of Randolph Scott as the townsfolk rise up in reverence. Olson Johnson gives the nod to Howard, who tells Bart he's got 24 hours. As the minute comes to an end, we get a slow dolly shot of a line of ruffians waiting to sign up for Hedley's army. Our guest today is Rick Ingham who, along with his wife, Julia, are a New Hampshire-based husband-and-wife podcasting team who began the Mad Max Minute podcast in January 2017. The song, "I'm Tired," continues in this minute. Lili von Shtupp is at a point in her performance where she wants to chat with the audience. She begins with a young man who has propped his feet up on the stage. She asks his name and he replies, "Tex, ma'am." She then plays with him saying, "Well, Tex ma'am, are you in show business?" He says he is not. Then she kicks his boots as she tells him to get his friggin' feet off the stage. She then compliments another for having a 10 gallon hat, or is he just enjoying the show. She then does a strange slow octave build with her voice, prompting a drunk to get up on stage. We continue today with Lili singing the song that closed Poland. While we examine the lyrics, we wonder if the song is one someone else has written or is it autobiographical. We wonder why she is tired of being admired? We also have to figure out what she says to the audience after the lyric, "...and always too soon." There is some discussion about where the chair goes that is kicked into the audience. Also, who threw their hat and where did it land? By the end of the minute, we are only a third of the way through the song, but the audience is really enjoying it.
