Can one revolutionise the frozen treats category? Zara Godfrey, the founder of Pukpip, thinks so and explains it all to Ollie Lloyd in this latest episode, as his new puppy (Enola) occasionally makes a racket in the background! Pukpip launched in 2023 to shake up the ice cream industry by integrating more fruit into consumers' diets in fun and innovative ways. At the core of Pukpip's offering are chocolate-dipped frozen bananas, a nostalgic nod to Zara's childhood favourites prepared by her mother. Zara and her team are breaking ground by creating a new category—indulgent frozen fruit—within the UK's snack market, something tha is alreadey developed in the US. Despite formidable competition from giants like Mars, Zara's Pukpip stands out by promoting health-conscious alternatives and reducing food waste through its unique up-cycling approach. The company turns 'wonky' fruit into a delightful snacking experience by sourcing bananas in Ecuador, absurdly rejected by standard export processes. The brand caters to a health-focused, younger audience seeking permissible indulgence that combines taste and wellness. The brand is an excellent example of how there are solutions that can be delicious and healthy. However, one challenge for Pukpip is educating consumers about this new category, which might be getting easier now that new competitors have arrived. Edited by Stella Gent

My guest this week is Colin Alvarez. We had an interesting chat about being a working musician, where to save money on gear, road triumphs and horror stories, and we wrap everything up with a story about how you should never pretend to be a percussionist. Here's some more info about Colin: Now calling Enola, PA home, Atlanta GA native Colin Alvarez pays his respects to our past while forging a new sound all his own. Colin began his exploration into the musical world at the age of eight when he started playing trombone. He picked up the guitar at 9 after his father gave him Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Texas Flood" album. Although Colin's background is in trombone, euphonium, tuba, and French horn - these days he focuses solely on guitar. His guitar influences include Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B. B. King, Joe Bonamassa, Robben Ford, while his songwriting influences include Marc Broussard, Jonny Lang, and Ray LaMontange. Colin got his start professionally at the age of seventeen with The Patrick Vining Band. Cutting his teeth with this powerhouse vocalist, Colin learned the business as well as how to front a band and entertain a crowd. He left Patrick's band at age twenty-one and went on to do guest and fill in work with several artists including Trickum, Bellum Rose, Jelly Roll, Southern Accent, Larry Griffith, and Ion Avenue. Colin's own personal ventures include Free Flight and Sazbo - the latter recording and releasing two studio albums and one live. Seven years ago, Colin assembled an original rock band; Crashing Midnite. Crashing Midnite released one original ten song LP titled Coming Home. This project was an incredible learning experience and allowed Colin to truly find his voice. Crashing Midnite gave him the confidence to begin writing and releasing music under his own Name, beginning with 2015's "From the Top", a 5 song EP full of powerful guitars, soulful vocals, and hook-based songwriting. Today, Colin is working to promote his 2021 Release and aptly named Album "Long Time Coming". The album includes ten songs written and arranged by Colin and Joel Edwards, with horn charts written by Kevin Carwile. Long Time Coming marks an exciting new chapter in Colin's music, Keep your eyes and ears peeled for exciting new things happening in Colin's career!

THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN! I asked you who you wanted me to interview, and you said "Give us The Pizza Boy, Al Kominski!" Well, I cannot defy or deny the people, so I went down to Al's of Hampden in Enola on the West Shore and got the interview...and then hung around and visited some more breweries: Ever Grain, Mellow Mink, Sworn, Hemauer, and Liquid Noise. I got in a visit to Sugar Run Brewing in Duncansville as well, and I'll tell you about opening night at the newest bar in Millheim: our home bar, First Draft, is finally complete, and spreading joy among our friends. Jeremy Pauley, a Pennsylvania resident, has been sentenced to two years of probation after authorities discovered buckets containing human remains inside his Enola residence. The sentencing, reported by CBS 21, follows Pauley's guilty plea to the charge of abuse of a corpse, stemming from his arrest in the summer of 2022. The disturbing case took a federal turn as Pauley faces additional charges on the federal level, including conspiracy and interstate transportation of stolen property. Despite Tuesday's sentencing related to his state charge, the specter of up to 15 years in federal prison looms over Pauley, pending a sentencing date yet to be set, as detailed by CBS 21. In a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, it was disclosed that Pauley confessed to the illicit trade of human remains stolen from prestigious institutions such as Harvard Medical School and a mortuary in Arkansas. Furthermore, Pauley acknowledged his awareness of the stolen nature of the human remains, implicating himself in a dark web of criminal activity. This grim saga implicates multiple individuals, with Pauley being just one among several indicted in the case since last June. Notably, another Pennsylvania resident, Joshua Taylor, faces charges in connection with the federal case, amplifying the scale and complexity of the investigation. In a parallel development, Candace Chapman Scott, linked to the network trafficking in human remains, faces legal scrutiny. Scott, employed by the Arkansas mortuary implicated in the ring, has been mandated by a judge to undergo a mental evaluation before her case proceeds, as reported by The Sentinel-Record in May 2023. The implications of this macabre enterprise extend beyond mere criminality. Officials have emphasized that the body parts were obtained without the knowledge or consent of Harvard Medical School, underlining the egregious nature of the operation and its ramifications for institutions entrusted with the sanctity of human remains. As authorities continue to unravel the intricate web of illegal activity, questions linger regarding the ethical and legal dimensions of handling human remains. With multiple lives intertwined in this unsettling narrative, the pursuit of justice remains paramount, as communities grapple with the profound implications of such heinous crimes against human dignity and respect. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for May 30, 2023 is: nemesis NEM-uh-siss noun A nemesis is a formidable foe—an opponent or enemy who is very difficult to defeat. As a proper noun, Nemesis refers to the Greek goddess of vengeance. // She will be playing against her old nemesis for the championship. See the entry > Examples: "2020's original Enola Holmes proved to be a surprisingly enjoyable twist on the world's most famous detective [Sherlock Holmes], focusing instead on his overlooked sister, Enola. No surprise, then, that this follow-up is just as exciting a romp through Victorian London. Despite proving her skills in the first film, Enola struggles to establish her own detective credentials until a missing-person report leads her to a case that's stumped even Sherlock, and sees her crossing paths with his arch nemesis, Moriarty." — Matt Kamen, WIRED, 10 Feb. 2023 Did you know? Nemesis was the Greek goddess of vengeance, a deity who doled out rewards for noble acts and punishment for evil ones. The Greeks believed that Nemesis didn't always punish an offender immediately but might wait generations to avenge a crime. In English, nemesis originally referred to someone who brought a just retribution, but nowadays people are more likely to see simple animosity rather than justice in the actions of a nemesis (consider the motivations of Batman's perennial foe the Joker, for example).

Multiple news agencies indicate that a man in Enola, Pennsylvania, aged 39, is accused of killing his wife on Christmas Eve following an argument between the two of them. The man is then said to have called his father and told him that his wife had committed suicide. In the beginning, Christopher Colbert had the intention of passing away after his wife, Tamara Colbert, as indicated by a letter with blood stains that he allegedly left behind in their home. However, according to court documents obtained by PennLive, when police arrived at the house, they spotted Colbert sitting in his car inside the couple's garage. This was reported by the court. After that, they discovered blood on his head, in addition to a gun not far away. The body of Tamara, 39 years old, was discovered inside an upstairs bedroom. After an argument, Colbert allegedly tried to attack Tamara with a knife, and Tamara allegedly ran upstairs to escape the situation before police arrived. As the argument continued upstairs in the bedroom, Colbert is said to have pulled out a gun and shot Tamara in the head at that point. According to court papers seen by PEOPLE, he is also accused of attempting to strangle her. According to court documents that were reviewed by PennLive, the blood-stained letter that Colbert left behind reportedly claimed, "There is no one I love more than Tamara." "She was the center of my universe, yet I tore it apart. Please comprehend that I did not put her life in danger in any way, shape, or form. We got into a battle with each other. We were not performing well." A 40-year-old man who collects bones and other human remains was arrested for allegedly trying to sell body parts on Facebook. A report indicates that the East Pennsboro Township Police Department received a call on June 14 about suspicious activity in the 200 block of North Enola Road. On arrival, officers found Jeremy Pauley, who had allegedly been buying human body parts from a female in Arkansas. The remains were found in Enola, Arkansas, and Scranton, and were reportedly being sold on Facebook. According to reports, Pauley owns and operates The Grand Wunderkammer, which describes itself on Facebook as "Vendors of the odd and unusual, museum exhibits, guest lectures, live entertainment, and so much more!"." Pauley's personal Facebook page shows buckets of bones and other remains, including femurs, vertebrae, a pelvis, clavicles, and "pounds and pounds of teeth." The East Pennsboro Township Police Department, Cumberland County Forensics, and the Cumberland County Coroner's Office searched Pauley's home, according to court records cited by WHTM-TV. During their search, they found several large buckets containing human body parts, including skin, a heart, a spleen, two brains, two livers, two lungs, and other organs. Pauley allegedly bought $4,000 worth of remains from the woman in Arkansas, including half a head, three brains with skull caps, one heart, four hands, a female pelvis, and more. According to police, he intended to resell the items. The woman reportedly shipped the parts via the United States Postal Service. She allegedly stole the remains from a mortuary run by the University of Arkansas. The package was intercepted by Pennsylvania State Police in Scranton, Pennsylvania, according to WNEP-TV, which also cites court documents. Pauley told detectives he collected "oddities," and police noted many of the relics were legitimate purchases. It was reported that Pauley was released on $50,000 unsecured bail after being charged with abuse of a corpse, receiving stolen property, and dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity.
