Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay stop by a strip club while on duty to talk about an action-comedy classic, 'Beverly Hills Cop.' Bombay opens up discussion about this fish out of water tale of a Detroit cop with some stories about his family dealing with cops while living in Detroit. Then the fellas dive into the movie, which has a thin plot that is just an excuse to let prime Eddie Murphy riff, and let killer '80s songs rip. The inciting incident involves Murphy's Axel Foley being visited by a "hoodlum" friend from his past, and that leads to Andy recalling when he had to cut ties with an uninvited house guest. In the flick, that leads to Axel heading out to Beverly Hills where he befriends mismatched friends Taggart and Rosewood while talking himself out of countless situations by lying on the fly. Comedy does the heavy lifting, but there's some great action set pieces, a screaming irate police captain — which Hollywood needs to bring back as a trope — and infectious tunes peppered throughout. It closes with a freeze frame of Murphy making a goofy face into the camera before cueing up a Patti LaBelle track. Much like the film being discussed, the fellas do not take themselves very seriously this episode.
Hey Family Brand! It's Melissa, and I'm so honored to introduce you to my guest today, Dee Taggart. After getting to know Dee at one of our recent couples retreats, I knew she had a story that needed to be shared with our community. Dee is the founder of Her Xpansion, a space where women can grow in confidence, connection, and self-leadership. She's a mom, coach, spiritual mentor, and all-around powerhouse. This conversation is full of heart, hope, and honest truth—and I think every woman will hear something in Dee's story that resonates with her own. Dee opens up about her incredible journey—from being a 20-year-old caring for four children under the age of two, to navigating single motherhood, divorce, and ultimately rediscovering her strength and purpose. Her story is one of resilience and spiritual awakening, and she's the first to say she didn't always feel strong. At one point, she was in a dark place, believing she wasn't enough. It wasn't until she hit her “ignite moment”—a quiet realization in the car—that she began to rebuild from the inside out. What really stuck with me is Dee's approach to confidence. She says confidence doesn't come from doing something once—it's built by keeping promises to yourself. For any mom or woman who feels like she's lost a part of herself, Dee offers a beautiful reminder: your spirit knows what's calling you, and if you get quiet and listen, you'll start to find your way back. Her practical advice for rebuilding confidence—through courage, small commitments, and daily self-leadership—is something I wish every woman could hear. We also talked about spiritual practice, and Dee shared how reconnecting with God and spending time in nature changed everything for her. She's unapologetically faith-driven and believes our wholeness comes from something bigger than ourselves. If you've felt disconnected from your own sense of calling or are simply craving a deeper sense of peace, her insight on creating intentional time for reflection is powerful. Finally, Dee breaks down the Five Cs that guide her work with women: Confidence, Connection, Capabilities, Community, and Consciousness. These are the pillars of Her Xpansion, and they're not just concepts—they're tools to help women lead themselves well so they can lead their families, their communities, and their lives with purpose. Gene and cohost Tim Swartz present a return appearance from Shannon Taggart. She first became aware of Spiritualism as a teenager, when her cousin received a message from a medium that revealed details about her grandfather's death. In 2001, while working as a photographer, she began taking pictures where that message was received, Lily Dale, New York, home to the world's largest Spiritualist community—proceeding to other such communities as England's Arthur Findlay College. Taggart expected to spend one summer figuring out the tricks of the Spiritualist trade. Instead, Spiritualism's mysterious processes, earnest practitioners, and neglected photographic history became an inspiration. Her project evolved into an eighteen-year journey that has taken her around the world. In this interview, she also discusses the 11th Annual Symposium at Lilly Dale, NY, set for July 23, 2025 through July 26, 2025. Events include: Spoon Bending Party, with Shannon Taggart and guests, The Paranormal Object, with Jack Hunter, The Cinematic Séance: A History of Spiritualism and Film, with Murray Leeder, The Mystery of Gef the Talking Mongoose (really), with Christopher Josiffe, Richard Shaver: A Personal Mythology of Secret Caves and Ancient Rocks, with Doug Skinner, and much more. The Pitfalls of Traditional Corporate Videos – Why scripted corporate videos often fail to connect with audiences. The Power of Unscripted Content – How authentic storytelling makes business videos more engaging. Overcoming Camera Anxiety – Why people freeze on camera and how to help them relax. The Purpose of Business Videos – How to create videos that solve problems or seize opportunities. The Role of Storytelling in Recruiting Videos – Why showcasing culture honestly attracts the right employees. What Makes a Business Video Effective – Tips on video length, engagement, and editing. Why Over-Preparation Hurts Video Authenticity – The benefits of trusting the process and allowing natural conversations. How to Use Video to Improve Hiring and Retention – Filtering candidates through transparent company culture stories. The Importance of Editing in Business Videos – How to refine hours of footage into a compelling final cut. The Human Element in Video Marketing – The role of humor, music, and emotion in making content memorable. ----- About out guest, Pat Taggart: Pat has been creating authentic, unscripted content for business for 23 years. He detests the traditional corporate videos and his goal is to create the polar opposite. You can learn more about Pat and his video services at https://www.skybluecreative.com/ ----- Key Learning Points 1. The Problem with Traditional Corporate Videos Corporate videos often feel scripted, unnatural, and intimidating. Employees struggle to sound genuine when reading a script. 2. The Power of Unscripted, Authentic Content Genuine conversations help businesses tell better stories. The best videos mine existing stories instead of forcing a narrative. 3. Overcoming Camera Intimidation People dislike hearing their own voices and seeing themselves on video. The solution: stop consuming your own content—it's for the audience, not for you. 4. Video's Purpose in Business A video should solve a business problem or capitalize on an opportunity. If it doesn't achieve these goals, it's not worth creating. 5. The Importance of Storytelling in Recruiting Videos Culture stories should come from employees, not just leadership. Highlighting who isn't a fit is just as important as attracting the right talent. 6. How to Make a Business Video More Engaging Keep it as short as possible without losing the message. Use bloopers and humor to make content feel more human. Music plays a key role in setting the emotional tone of a video. 7. Why Over-Preparation Hurts Video Content The more someone prepares specific lines, the more robotic they sound. The best content comes from spontaneous, real conversations. 8. The Role of Editing in Crafting a Strong Message A successful two-minute video might come from hours of footage. Editing ensures only the most compelling moments remain. 9. How Videos Can Improve Employee Retention Accurately showcasing company culture prevents bad hires. Transparency helps employees self-select the right workplace. 10. Simple Ways to Improve On-Camera Performance Positive reinforcement helps subjects relax. The interviewer's energy influences the interviewee's energy. ----- ----more---- Your host is George Torok George is a specialist in communication skills. Especially presentation. What if we could engineer solutions to America's toughest challenges? Join us as we engage with William Taggart, a veteran professional engineer and author of "Fixing America: An Engineer's Solution to Our Social, Cultural, and Political Problems." Together, we unpack his data-driven, non-partisan approach to addressing issues like energy consumption, population growth, and gun culture. William's insights challenge the status quo, urging political parties to rethink their strategies and adopt practical, evidence-based solutions. His logical and well-researched arguments will captivate you, just as they did me, encouraging openness to new perspectives and fostering personal growth. As we navigate through complex topics, we unravel the intricacies behind America's energy use and the transition to renewable resources. Our conversation veers into the realm of gun violence, where William reframes the debate, identifying poverty as a root cause rather than focusing solely on gun ownership. This episode is an invitation to move beyond superficial fixes and explore the cultural and systemic contexts that exacerbate societal issues. Discover how thoughtful analysis and comprehensive strategies can mitigate problems that often seem intractable. The discussion also shines a light on the role of social media in exacerbating cultural divides while eclipsing critical issues like energy policy and national debt. William and I examine the shifting political landscape, advocating for discourse that transcends party lines and prioritizes education, poverty alleviation, and informed decision-making. This episode is a call to action for moderate voices to reclaim the political narrative, offering solutions grounded in history and data. By bridging political divides through education, we aim to pave the way for a more cohesive and progressive society.Support the showThe Jack Hopkins Now Newsletter https://wwwJackHopkinsNow.com

Send us a textHello there again my friends and fellow future funeral professionals!Firstly, here is the link to the Quizlet I used to put this absolute MONSTER audio study guide together for you guys:Creator:kimdeeb5808Link:https://quizlet.com/597985878/nbe-science-flash-cards/I found this EPIC 1,000+ Flashcard Quizlet, verified the content, and feel it would provide a nice make-do impromptu study guide to do while I play a very extensive game of Catch Up for y'all over these next few weeks. I saw MANY extremely important things literally leap off of my screen at me whilst recording this, so if you don't want to wait for the other sections please feel free to give it a look over a few times on your own by clicking the link I provided. Don't worry, I won't be offended if you don't wait for me! :)I intend to find more focused content for facial shapes and color theory, among many others. Please understand Science is a doozy to prep you all for as it covers SO MUCH, so I'm going to do my best recording and providing as much as I can as often as I can now that I'm recovering. Also: as I always say: GO REREAD YOUR DARN TEXTBOOKS! They WILL save your butt, I promise! You will 100% thank me when you're sitting for your exams- both of them! They wrote their exams FROM THEIR TEXTBOOKS! DO NOT FORGET THAT!The most important and useful textbooks (in MY opinion, of course) being:Your embalming textbook - whichever edition, whichever version.I had: EMBALMING: HISTORY, THEORY, & PRACTICE Fifth Edition. The creator, Dr. David Penepent PhD is not only a huge name in Funeral Service education, he also has rewritten the study guide books that haven't been touched since Taggart wrote them decades ago. Send us a textHello there again my friends and fellow future funeral professionals!Firstly, here is the link to the Quizlet I used to put this audio study guide together for you guys of the various facial profiles necessary for RA:Creator:vw_lisaLink:https://quizlet.com/413244224/restorative-art-facial-profile-flash-cards/This episode is a VERY short and to the point "crash course" targeted strictly towards understanding the various facial shapes/profiles and their differences. This section of RA is crucial for having a firm understanding of RA. I will be looking for a solid Quizlet that covers the various measurements and proportions of the face next for y'all, as that is possibly even more important. Sciences is so overwhelming and it takes a lot to gather everything I personally feel you will need to know well to hit that magic 75% - so please be patient with me whilst I play a game of "Catch-Up" here! :)Also: as I always say: GO REREAD YOUR DARN TEXTBOOKS! In this episode of A Cup of Joe, host Joe Morton sits down with Spencer Taggart to explore the profound concept of living as a "human being" rather than a "human doing." From the importance of stillness, meditation, and mindfulness to the spiritual power of love and gratitude, Spencer shares how we can find joy and fulfillment by turning within. Together, Joe and Spencer discuss how modern culture pushes us to chase success externally, but true happiness comes from embracing who we are at our core. Tune in for an inspiring conversation on holistic wellness, faith, and living a life of purpose. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We're going to do something a little different in today's video. This Thoughtful Money channel is all about wealth-building. So makes sense that we focus most of our attention on money. But money is a means to an end. It's not an end in and of itself. No one's goal in life is to die atop a big pile of cash -- instead we hope to use our money to better enjoy the things that really feed our souls. As those who live to be 100 years old tell us, true wealth, the things that really matter in life, are a function of the following three things: fulfilling relationships, purpose and health. So, as a number of you have asked for, I'm going to periodically interview experts on these key topics. And today we're going to focus on what makes for successful happy relationships. To help us understand what makes or breaks the important relationships in our lives, I've invited a professional marriage & family therapist today. Ashley is a licensed MFT, trained in Emotion-Focused Therapy (otherwise known as EFT) and the Gottman Method of couples therapy -- Drs John & Julie Gottman we're made famous by Malcolm Gladwell's coverage of them in his book "Blink" describing how they could predict with near 90% accuracy whether or not a couple will remain together after interviewing them for only 3 minutes. In her California practice, Ashley deals with clients from all backgrounds, many of whom are Silicon Valley power-couples, though she also sees her fair share of rural farmers. I would be remiss if I didn't also acknowledge that Ashley is my wife. So I can personally vouch for both her professional credentials as well as the effectiveness of the strategies for conflict resolution she'll share with us in today's discussion. Because we have put plenty of them to use in our own marriage -- which just celebrated its 24th anniversary last week. HAVE QUESTIONS FOR ASHLEY? We call ourselves Gen X women but many of us are quickly becoming the “sandwich generation.” It's a term that invokes feelings of being squeezed between raising children, welcoming grandchildren, and caring for aging parents all while juggling never ending demands on our time and emotions. With six children ranging in age from 11 to 21 and a mother succumbing to dementia, my friend (and cousin) Julie Taggart, is managing this season of her life so beautifully. That doesn't mean it isn't hard. Sometimes heartbreakingly so. But, her focus is firmly fixed on faith and family allowing her to find meaning through the experience. And family history plays a major role in how she navigates the constant transitions in her life by giving her perspective and opportunities to deeply connect with her family - past, present, and future.Listen in on our conversation to hear how we discovered we are related and the role a family tree chart played in that discovery and, more importantly, in the family culture Julie has created.*****Order your own fill-in-the-blank family tree chart (and use the code I mention in the episode to get free shipping): FamilyChartmasters.com_______________________________________________Please rate and review this podcast and then share it with your family and friends. For ideas on how to connect more deeply with your family through family stories, follow Crista on Instagram @CristaCowan.
As we look forward to the Paralympics at Paris 2024, we're sharing this previous episode with Paralympian Claire Taggart, which was first released on February 13, 2024.Discover the intriguing world of Boccia with world champion and Paralympian Claire Taggart on this episode of Game Changers. Claire shares her journey from skepticism to passion for this highly inclusive Paralympic sport, offering insights into its unique rules, classifications, and accessibility features. Whether you're familiar with similar games like bowls and petanque or completely new to boccia, Claire's firsthand experience and enthusiasm bring the sport to life, highlighting its potential for anyone to participate, regardless of physical abilities.Claire also opens up about the challenges of raising awareness for boccia, a sport that often flies under the radar despite its competitive and strategic allure. She talks about her initial reluctance, the encouragement from her coach, and her efforts to boost boccia's profile through social media. The conversation delves into the emotional journey of competing at an elite level while grappling with the limited recognition and visibility for boccia athletes, stressing the importance of acknowledgment and support within the Paralympic community.Family support emerges as a critical theme, with Claire reflecting on the sacrifices her parents have made to help her compete globally. She discusses the financial and social care hurdles faced by elite athletes with disabilities, and the recent changes in gender classification within boccia. As Claire contemplates her future, including her post-Paris 2024 plans and aspirations beyond sport, she emphasizes boccia's transformative impact and encourages more women to get involved. Tune in for an inspiring episode that highlights the power of determination, family support, and the quest for greater visibility in Paralympic sports.Thank you to Sport England who support The Game Changers Podcast with a National Lottery award.Find out more about The Game Changers podcast here: https://www.fearlesswomen.co.uk/thegamechangersHosted by Sue AnstissProduced by Sam Walker, What Goes On MediaA Fearless Women production
Growing up, Claire was drawn to creative and artistic pursuits: piano and trumpet, drawing, reading. At 17, her life changed when she started experiencing mobility issues. Two years later she was diagnosed with dystonia, a neurological condition characterized by involuntary muscle contractions and spasms. Claire found boccia at a local club, and credits Great Britain's coaches with inviting her to a Talent Event in 2015 that served as a turning point in her career. During this event, Claire was selected to participate in the World Class Programme at Boccia UK, marking a dramatic increase in trainings per week (jumping from 1 to 4). In Rio 2016, Claire made history becoming the first Boccia athlete from Northern Ireland to compete in the Paralympics. She went on to represent Great Britain in Tokyo2020(1), and becoming World Champion at the 2022 World Championships. That said, there's been a lot of ups and downs along the way and she shares about some of the challenges she's faced as an athlete with dystonia. When we asked Claire what she wished she knew earlier, she was quick to point to the generations before sharing, "people who have already been through this experience are great foundations of knowledge that we can rely on." She went further, encouraging young athletes to "find your community of people who will help and support you." Heading into her third Paralympics, Claire is hoping to "enjoy the experience as then I will play the best that I can." When we asked her about her legacy and what she wants to be known she shares how "I want to be an inspiration for what I do on the boccia court." Episodes drop every Wednesday at 5am Eastern Standard Time through the Paralympics. ---- Flame Bearers is the world's first media and production company specifically illuminating the unsung stories of resilient women Olympians & Paralympians. Send us a Text Message.Hi there, friends! We're back with an episode featuring the much-asked for, long and patiently waited for, Taggart Notes!Credit goes to: The Taggart Notes: PDFNational Board Examination Review Book For Students of Funeral Service Education/Mortuary Science : SCIENCESDr. Thomas R. TaggartThe Taggart Notes for Sciences looks like they hold some very useful information for preparing yourself for the Science NBE, but I will be skipping all of the out-of-date content for you. I highly recommend looking into David's MUCH better, and far more extensive, study guide books he has done for Arts and Sciences, as they literally bounce off of The Taggart Notes and expand upon them whilst updating them to match today's proper terminology and definitions. (Just remember, use MEG25 and save $25 off of EACH book if you do get one, or both!)In this episode I cover the following topics:Intrinsic / Extrinsic Factors in Case AnalysisDilution and DrainageDiscolorationsBlood DiscolorationsFluid Accumulation PLEASE understand that as wonderful as his notes are, they are incredibly outdated. We're talking 2005. The man that has created the D.E.A.D Program made an updated set of study guides to replace the Taggart Notes, and if you go to the D.E.A.D website and hit Resource Materials, you can either buy one or both. Enter MEG25 and you will get a nice $25 off discount from EACH book!I have also started a YouTube Channel to coincide with this Podcast that I highly suggest following and subscribing to if you have not already! I will be offering in-depth visual aids of the various places of worship, casket construction and parts, etc.!The link to my channel is:https://www.youtube.com/@MeghanOpocenskyAs always, thank you all so much for you continued support and I immensely appreciate your continued patience! :)This upcoming week David and I intend to blow through those Conference Glossary Terms y'all enjoy so much and getting those knocked out for you. We just did Pathology AND Microbiology and I will upload them both once he sends them to me! So stay tuned, things will be getting good! I will also be revisiting Arts here and there as I want to offer visual aids for a few things, as I know David wants to do for certain Science topics- so please look at my "seasons" as really more of an "Arts" and "Sciences" divider to help with any confusion, ok?Season 1: Arts - Season 2: Sciences maybe a Season 3 for random funeral professionals to share their wisdom, practices, etc. but that's a ways away!THE BIGGEST THANK YOU TO MY SUBSCRIBERS: DANIELLA G. & SARAH J. :)Check out my Patreon to support my show, too; https://www.patreon.com/MeghanOpocensky?utm_campaign=creatorshare_creatorI'll be updating it later! As always, thank you all so much for you continued support!I will continue looking at what to do next, I have yet to touch on still and I appreciate your continued patience! To support this show through the channel platform, please visit:https://www.buzzsprout.com/2355990/supporters/newIf you're interested in supporting the show but don't want to subscribe, my info is as follows:@MegOpocensky / $MegOpocenskySupport the Show.Support the Show.
“You don't need to ask for directions anymore, you're no longer a fish out of water!” - Andrew on Axel's third time in Los Angeles On this week's episode, the Summer Blockbuster Extravaganza tackles an action comedy sequel that didn't need to exist at all, and no one wanted to make in the first place, Beverly Hills Cop III! What in the hell tone were they shooting for with this movie? How is Axel not blamed for Inspector Todd's death at the hands of Ellis De Wald? Why did they replace Taggart with Hector Elizondo playing a guy who's just Taggart with different facial hair? How is Wonder World still open for business after all the carnage Axel and company carry out on park grounds? And how hilarious and great is this George Lucas cameo? PLUS: What was the Tunnel of Love supposed to represent at the end? Beverly Hills Cop III stars Eddie Murphy, Timothy Carhart, Stephen McHattie, Judge Reinhold, Hector Elizondo, John Saxon, Theresa Randle, Alan Young, Bronson Pinchot, and George Lucas as Disappointed Man; directed by John Landis.
