Rulings and insights from the Lubavitcher Rebbe - Rabbi Chaim Wolosow
The Rebbe explains that Chabad Purim Farbrengens bridge the 14th and 15th of Adar. Using the Rema's concern for prayer times, the Rebbe applies a Kal Vachomer: if we must be careful with Rabbinic prayer, we must be even more diligent with Bentching, which is a sacred Torah obligation. https://www.torahrecordings.com/shulchan_menachem/orach_chayim/349_003
Rulings and insights from the Lubavitcher Rebbe - Rabbi Chaim Wolosow
The Rebbe concludes that while bread and meat are not strictly mandatory to fulfill the obligation of the Purim meal, they are the ideal way to express Simcha (joy). While forgetting Al HaNissim doesn't require repeating Bentching, we still follow the Rambam's preference for meat to celebrate the miracle with the highest honor. https://www.torahrecordings.com/shulchan_menachem/orach_chayim/349_002

This evening we discuss how a minor Rabbinic ruling on Bentching (saying Birkat HaMazon or grace after meals) gives us a new and much better way of looking at the world, earning us a special measure of God's grace. We cite the prophecy of Isaiah (Yishayahu HaNavi) that God will rebuild the ruined places of Israel, and describe how this has come true in our day at the magnificent Hurva Synagogue in the Old City of Jerusalem. I share my unforgettable experience being there on Yom HaAtzmaut, and praying the words of Hallel with two meanings to each line. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation. We take great pleasure in welcoming everyone with a warm smile, while sharing inspiration through prayer, study, and friendship. We discuss the ruling of the Rama who holds that ideally the requirement to bentch is only fully fulfilled when a person has drunken during a meal (if they were thirsty). We then turn to the proper way to respond to a zimun if you have not eaten anything.

What if your parents want the hat and you don't? Did Chasidish garb and the black stripes on our Taleisim come from the non-Jews? Minyan without a hat or daven be'ye'chidus with the hat?
