Many young men feel that it's a positive, flattering testament to their virility and even their penis size when their girlfriend says she just can't have sex as much as they want it. This is okay if she bows out after a few times a day, but if you've only been dating a little while and she can't do it more than a few times a week because you're "too big" or "too much" for her... this isn't the good sign you think it is. This week on the podcast, Blake sits down with Phil Toledano, an artist, photographer, and watch collector who you might know from his @misterenthusiast Instagram handle, and his Viva Bastardo line of clothing and accessories. Phil has, by his own admission, taste that is somewhat peculiar, and a look through his IG feed reveals watches of shapes, sizes, and colors that even seasoned collectors might not be familiar with. This is a fun and wide ranging conversation that covers everything from the strangeness of 1970s Patek, the use of artificial intelligence in Phil's latest work, and a short tease of an upcoming watch project that Phil is launching later this year. There's also a whole lot of car talk (Phil is a major car enthusiast) and a pretty deep exploration of how sentimentality works its way into our hobby, and our collections. To stay on top of all new episodes, you can subscribe to The Worn & Wound Podcast — now available on all major platforms including iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, Soundcloud, Spotify, and more. Bible Reading: 1 Peter 1:3-5Joey liked to visit Great-Uncle Hank's dairy farm. He liked to work in the barn and swing on ropes in the hayloft. He liked to ride on the tractor. But most of all, he liked to work with Uncle Hank on an old car in the shed behind the tractor barn.Uncle Hank enjoyed restoring old cars, and now he was patiently working to restore another one to its original condition. First, it had been taken apart piece by piece. Then each piece had been cleaned. Worn parts had been repaired or replaced. The old paint had been stripped off the body, the rust removed, and a new coat of paint applied. Now the work was almost done. As Uncle Hank put the engine back together, Joey polished the car until it shone. As they were working on the car one day, Uncle Hank turned to Joey. "How would you like to have this car?" he asked. Joey grinned, and his eyes lit up. Uncle Hank smiled. "I can see that you like it as much as I do, and someday it will be yours. It's going to be your inheritance from me."That evening, Joey excitedly told his parents about Uncle Hank's decision. "What a nice thing for your great-uncle to do," Mom said.Dad nodded. "It certainly is.""Yeah! That's probably the best thing I'll ever get," said Joey. "I don't know anybody else who would leave me such a nice inheritance." He grinned at his dad. "Except maybe you and Mom."Dad smiled back at him. "Actually, there's an even better inheritance waiting for all of us who know Jesus as our Savior. God promises that all who trust in Jesus Christ will someday enjoy all the blessings of eternal life with Him. One day He will resurrect Christians who have died from the dead and make everything new, and we'll live with Him forever in a world free of sin and death.""Wow," said Joey. "That's even more exciting than owning Uncle Hank's car someday! I'm glad Uncle Hank knows Jesus and will get that inheritance too." -Tom VandenBergHow About You?Is there an inheritance waiting in heaven for you? There is if you've trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior. Jesus wants those who know Him to spend eternity with Him. He died for our sins and then rose from the dead so we could be free of sin and death and live with Him forever. Trust in Jesus and look forward to the inheritance He has for you. This week on the podcast, Blake Buettner, Zach Weiss, and Zach Kazan are back from a successful Windup Watch Fair in San Francisco, and the conversation turns to one of the show's biggest new releases, The Twelve from Christopher Ward. Their integrated bracelet sports watch was an immediate sensation at Windup and on Instagram, where memes immediately drew comparisons to other notable (and much more expensive) watches in this same style. But there's something undeniable about the quality and value proposition of The Twelve, and it impressed even the integrated bracelet sports watch skeptics on mic for this episode. A bit later, we took a question from a Worn & Wound+ user about, of all things the Met Gala, and what watches we might wear on the red carpet. While definitely a bit out of our depth, this was a really fun question to answer, and an interesting thought experiment. If you have a favorite look from this year's Met Gala, or a thought on what you might wear if you got the invite, feel free to drop it in the comments. Message for 05/07/2023 "Patience for the Process" by Justin McTeer. *All verses are NLT unless otherwise noted* Exodus 23:20-33 - “See, I am sending an angel before you to protect you on your journey and lead you safely to the place I have prepared for you. 21 Pay close attention to him, and obey his instructions. Do not rebel against him, for he is my representative, and he will not forgive your rebellion. 22 But if you are careful to obey him, following all my instructions, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and I will oppose those who oppose you. 23 For my angel will go before you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites, so you may live there. And I will destroy them completely. 24 You must not worship the gods of these nations or serve them in any way or imitate their evil practices. Instead, you must utterly destroy them and smash their sacred pillars. 25 “You must serve only the Lord your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will protect you from illness. 26 There will be no miscarriages or infertility in your land, and I will give you long, full lives. 27 “I will send my terror ahead of you and create panic among all the people whose lands you invade. I will make all your enemies turn and run. 28 I will send terror ahead of you to drive out the Hivites, Canaanites, and Hittites. 29 But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals would multiply and threaten you. 30 I will drive them out a little at a time until your population has increased enough to take possession of the land. 31 And I will fix your boundaries from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the eastern wilderness to the Euphrates River. I will hand over to you the people now living in the land, and you will drive them out ahead of you. 32 “Make no treaties with them or their gods. 33 They must not live in your land, or they will cause you to sin against me. If you serve their gods, you will be caught in the trap of idolatry. God Go before you, bring into a prepared place, come against the enemy, send fear and panic ahead for the enemy, cut off the opposition, send forces to help drive out the opposition, deliver the enemy into your hand set the borders, bless you, feed you, heal you, multiply you, and fill up the number of your days. Us Watch, listen, obey God, don't rebel against God, serve God, fight the enemy, destroy false gods, do not conform, do not make covenants with the enemy. Watch Matthew 11:28-30 MSG - “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.” Ephesians 5:1-2 - Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. 2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Hebrews 12:1-2a - Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Listen Isaiah 55:2b-3a - Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food. 3 “Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. John 10:27 - My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. Obey James 1:22-25 - But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. 1 Samuel 15:22 - But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice. Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Avoid Rebellion Serve God John 12:23-26 - Jesus replied, “Now the time has come for the Son of Man[l] to enter into his glory. 24 I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives. 25 Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity. 26 Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me. Fight the Enemy Ephesians 6:12 - For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Destroy False Gods 1 Kings 11:1-6 - Now King Solomon loved many foreign women. Besides Pharaoh's daughter, he married women from Moab, Ammon, Edom, Sidon, and from among the Hittites. 2 The Lord had clearly instructed the people of Israel, “You must not marry them, because they will turn your hearts to their gods.” Yet Solomon insisted on loving them anyway. 3 He had 700 wives of royal birth and 300 concubines. And in fact, they did turn his heart away from the Lord. 4 In Solomon's old age, they turned his heart to worship other gods instead of being completely faithful to the Lord his God, as his father, David, had been. 5 Solomon worshiped Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians, and Molech, the detestable god of the Ammonites. 6 In this way, Solomon did what was evil in the Lord's sight; he refused to follow the Lord completely, as his father, David, had done. Do Not Conform Romans 12:2 - Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. 1 Peter 2:9 - But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. Do Not Make Covenants with the Enemy 2 Peter 3:8-18 - But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. 9 The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. 11 Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, 12 looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. 13 But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God's righteousness. 14 And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight. 15 And remember, our Lord's patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him— 16 speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction. 17 You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing. 18 Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Revelation 7:9-10 After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. 10 And they were shouting with a great roar, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!”

Mike Donehey has seen his fair share of the unexpected. Following a potentially fatal car crash as a teen, Mike learned to play the guitar while still in bed recovering from his injuries. Learning the guitar quickly gave birth to songwriting, and that songwriting quickly led to the formation of a band. That band, Tenth Avenue North, became one of the most loved and successful artists in Christian music. Beginning with their acclaimed national debut, Over and Underneath, Tenth Avenue North's audience multiplied with each new album and hit song, like radio favorites “Love Is Here,” “By Your Side,” “You Are More,” “Losing,” “Worn,” “I Have This Hope,” and multi-week no. 1 smash “Control (Somehow You Want Me).” At the beginning of 2020, despite widespread notoriety and a devout following, Tenth Avenue North's members began to sense they each had their own unexpected and unique roads to follow. Mike has seized this opportunity, reveling in the excitement to expand as a storyteller, communicator and thought instigator wherever his voice is heard. Mike's acclaimed book, Finding God's Life for My Will, was an immediate best-seller upon its release. Now his next book, Grace In The Gray, is becoming just as popular at his first book. Mike's podcast, Chasing the Beauty, looks for the joy of God in the places we didn't think it could be on the AccessMore network. Perhaps most exciting has been Mike's writing and producing new music. His acclaimed solo album Flourish is just the beginning of the flow of new music coming our way. The unexpected has a way of disrupting our lives in ways we might not have ever chosen. For Mike, learning to embrace the unexpected has been the very thing that has brought forth encouraging and soul-healing art time and time again. Looking forward, Mike is trusting to be led in any way that will allow him to continue to serve and inspire. Dad Up! With the MLB Opening Day kicking off this week, the guys discussed the major rule changes in baseball this season (ie. pitch clock, bigger bases, ban on shifts) and whether they thought it would attract more fans and viewers to the game (and subsequently if it would get more people to collect baseball cards). I'm Jaz Gulati and thanks so much for coming onto the app for part two or what was quite a brilliant part one with Dr. Sandra Hulac. Her energy is just absolutely amazing. Jaz's Introduction:Now, just a recap, we left you on a bit of a cliffhanger last time. We talked about, I asked Sandra about orthodontics. You know, how often does orthodontics come into it? Is it every single time? And the answer she gives is really pragmatic. So you'll hear that or see that in just a few minutes. But I just want to do a bit of a recap, what we talked about last time, right? So, a constricted chewing pattern is someone who really wants to bite here, but the teeth meet together here, so the condyle gets sort of pushed back, if you like. Right. So for this patient, the centric relation is actually further forward. So who's at risk? People who've got upright or retroclined upper incisors, right? And their jaw wants to be further forward, right? Maybe cuz of growth, the jaw wants to be further forward, which is why Sandra said that people who've had orthodontics and upper pre-molars extracted. The maxilla gets smaller if you like, and mandible start continues to grow and those patients may be at risk. So if you see those kind of traits, then maybe we shouldn't be using like a leaf gauge for centric relation on those patients. We should be using like a deprogramming appliance Lucia Jig or a Kois deprogrammer. If you fancy that one because that's what Dr. Sandra does. And what you find with these patients with a CCP is yes, their jaw gets shifted back, but you might get more wear on their edges. And that's not from bruxism. That's because the outside in movement. Right? Their jaw wants to be further forward. Now, this is similar. The cousin of this is the frictional chewing pattern who their condyle isn't getting forced back, right? Their MIP is okay. It's just that as they're chewing the outside in is causing this. So, let's say that's normal, the incisal edges are not worn here. Can you see? They're a bit jaggedy over here, right? It's just, to over here and over here. We see this all the time and let me show you some photos actually on th...

Thriving Beyond Belief with Cheryl Scruggs

It is soon to be followed by his next book, Grace In The Gray, releasing in January 2023. This week on the podcast, Blake and Zach are joined by Edouard Meylan, CEO of H. Moser & Cie, a brand that has captured our attention of late like few others. Moser has developed a reputation in the realm of independent watch brands as something of a disruptive force. They made a watch out of cheese, after all. But their bold moves over the last decade, which include a foray into the metaverse, all serve to draw attention to the Swiss watch industry itself, and to push it forward in ways other brands might not. In this conversation, Ed gets into why those values are important to Moser as a brand, and we also dive deep into Vantablack, Moser's philosophy when it comes to brand collaborations, and that incredible Streamliner bracelet. To stay on top of all new episodes, you can subscribe to The Worn & Wound Podcast — now available on all major platforms including iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, Soundcloud, Spotify, and more. A housekeeper for Alex Murdaugh testified today that the day after the double murders of Paul and Maggie Murdaugh, that she was asked by Alex Murdaugh to clean the house.   Blanca Simpson revealed that when she went to the house several “very unusual” things stood out to her. They included food pots being in the fridge instead of left out for her to clean and Maggie Murdaugh's pajamas and underwear stacked neatly in the doorway of the laundry room. Simpson said first that Maggie Murdaugh did not wear underwear with her pajamas and she also usually left pots and pans out for Simpson to clean. Simpson then dropped a bombshell. She said when she went into the shower she noticed a small puddle of water, a tower,l and a pair of khaki pants which she washed.    Ms. Simpson says she has never seen those khakis or the seafoam-colored shirt Murdaugh was wearing the night of the murders, or his house shoes ever again after that day.
