This past Sunday, we had the great privilege of hosting Jonathan & Melissa Helser. Jonathan released a powerful word that invites us into a profound exploration of what it means to run the race of faith for the long haul. Drawing from Hebrews 12, we're reminded that we're surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses—heroes of faith who have gone before us, cheering us on. The central challenge is clear: how do we keep running when blizzards hit our lives? When discouragement, comparison, and the enemy's lies threaten to make us lose our way? The answer lies in what Jesus himself did. In two critical moments—Gethsemane and the cross—we see Jesus reaching for ropes that would lead him back home to the Father. These weren't random acts of desperation, but well-worn paths he'd walked many times before. The Lord's Prayer and Psalm 22 became his lifelines in the storm. This teaches us something revolutionary: if the Son of God needed spiritual disciplines and ancient prayers to navigate his darkest hours, how much more do we need them? The Psalms aren't just beautiful poetry—they're 150 well-worn paths back to God's heart, written in every human emotion from the highest highs to the lowest lows. We're challenged to ask ourselves: what kind of worshiper do we want to be 40 years from now? Will we still be fascinated with Jesus, or will we have grown familiar and distant? The vision is to become like those saints who, at 91 years old, still weep with wonder at the Father's love—not because they're sentimental, but because they've stayed connected to the source of all life. For more info, you can go to our website, check us out on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube. Cotton, Cameos, and Cashmere: The Accessories of Revolutionary Style. The Graces made cotton, previously worn by lower classes, the most fashionable and revolutionary fabric, often importing high-quality white muslin from India. Painters like David were fascinated by how the thin fabric revealed women's bodies, making the women appear artful and allowing them to move freely. When big skirts disappeared, the need to carry belongings led to the invention of the handbag as we know it, which instantly became the "it accessory." Other vital accessories included flat laced shoes and cashmere shawls. The long, rectangular cashmere shawls, first sent by Napoleon from Cairo to Josephine, were draped seductively around the slim dresses, becoming highly desirable for decades. Josephine (Rose) also invented the tiara by adapting Italian cameos to headbands. Juliet's rigorous all-white look became a powerful rallying symbol for the purity of revolutionary principles. 1805 Josephine

How do you regenerate and bring back life to worn-out soils? Does your garden soil just fall apart in your hands? Dr. Ashley Jernigan, assistant professor and director of Virginia Tech's Sustainable and Organic Vegetable Crops Production Lab, in visiting with Jeff and Mary, advises doing your own test in your garden or crop field with a shovel. As someone who enjoyed digging soil pits as a seven-year-old, Ashley recommends sampling to a six-inch depth to get a sense of your soil's tilth and aggregate stability. If the soil does not have a good, varied crumbly structure, the soil's organic matter content and aggregate stability may be low. Therefore, feed your soil and soil animals to feed your plants to start the biological journey and bring back the life in the soil.If you have ever wondered what soil animals like springtails and soil mites look like, Dr. Jernigan developed a Soil Mesofauna: Who are They? resource guide to help. Ashley also highly recommends Andy Murray's Chaos of Delight: Exploring Life in the Soil website for wonderful photos and videos. As always, we encourage you to cooperate with other farmers, graziers, and gardeners for peer-to-peer learning and to follow the four core soil health principles: 1) Keep the soil covered -- Cover crops are our friends and allies;2) Minimize soil disturbance -- Practice no-till or gentle tillage in your field or garden as much as possible;3) Maximize living roots year-round -- to improve biodiversity, soil structure, and life in the soil; and4) Energize with diversity -- through crop rotation, farm enterprises, and/or livestock integration.More details about the Virginia Farm-to-Table Feast and Harvest Celebration scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at On Sunny Slope Farm in Rockingham, Virginia, can be found at https://virginiafarmtotable.org/2025vaf2tharvestcelebration/To enjoy recent 4 The Soil blog posts and additional soil health resources, please visit https://www.4thesoil.org/blog and https://www.virginiasoilhealth.org/. "Saint Andrew came of a family of devout, unlettered peasants. He obtained an education by going to church and, on the death of his parents, became a novice at the Monastery of Galich, in the diocese of Kostroma. The Abbot, who was remarkable for his wisdom, discerned Andrew's spiritual gifts and encouraged him to undertake the unusual and difficult ascesis of Foolishness-for-Christ. Andrew left the monastery to lead a wayfaring life, but often returned to reveal his thoughts and deeds to his starets. On his Elder's death, he settled near the Church of the Resurrection in the town of Totma, where he was completely unknown. He spent the whole night in prayer and during the day begged alms that he forthwith gave to the poor. He went barefoot summer and winter and lived on nothing but bread and water. Every year he made a pilgrimage to the holy places of the region. One day he was accosted by the chief of an outlandish tribe. The man was suffering from an eye complaint and asked Andrew, who was already looked upon as a wonderworker, to cure him. Andrew fled, but the wild man washed his eyes in the snow trodden by the Saint and was healed.   "Worn out by ascesis and privation, Saint Andrew foreknew the day of his decease. He called a priest, confessed and communicated in the holy Mysteries, and not long after he fell asleep in the Lord, a heavenly scent pervading the room where his body lay. Some time later, the Saint appeared to a sick woman as she slept, holding the Gospel for her to venerate and telling her to pray at his tomb. When she awoke, the woman was healed." (Synaxarion)

Flying Bahamas Air and Modern Border RealitiesThis traveler's account chronicles an unexpected journey on Bahamas Air from Orlando to Nassau, challenging the airline's poor online reputation while revealing sobering truths about digital privacy at international borders. The Flight ExperienceDespite Bahamas Air's persistent two-star ratings warning of delays and lost luggage, the author found a more nuanced reality. A chance encounter with check-in agent Garfield—who recognized the author from YouTube—provided genuine Bahamian hospitality that transformed the experience. Garfield gifted a Bahamian flag and keychain in celebration of Independence Day, embodying the personal warmth that online reviews can't capture. The aircraft itself, a well-traveled Boeing 737-700 with a history spanning Copa Airlines and Lucky Air China, showed its age. Worn seats (likely salvaged from Southwest Airlines retirement), neglected safety cards, and dirty windows validated some operational criticisms. Yet the 51-minute flight for $129 delivered decent value and adequate legroom, completing its mission safely if imperfectly. The Border Reality CheckThe story's critical moment came at Bahamian immigration. An officer took the author's phone and systematically searched Instagram and YouTube, then used his personal device to research the author's channel. After disappearing for five minutes with both passport and phone, he returned everything without explanation. This encounter illuminates a crucial 21st-century travel truth: countries possess sovereign authority to examine travelers' digital lives. Border agencies worldwide can legally search devices and social media if deemed necessary for security—a power that transcends the Caribbean and applies at international borders globally.Key TakeawaysThe experience reveals that Caribbean regional carriers often trade operational polish for human connection, and that digital scrutiny at borders requires modern travelers to thoughtfully consider what devices they carry and what remains accessible when crossing international boundaries.Support the showTripCast360 --- It's all about travel, lifestyle and entertainment.Web: TripCast360.com.Twit: https://twitter.com/TripCast360FB: https://www.facebook.com/TripCast360Insta: https://www.instagram.com/tripcast360/

This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan welcomes Hamza Masood back to the podcast. Hamza Masood is Head of Partnerships at WatchCharts, a website whose mission is to provide as much pricing data and transparency as possible to the watch buying public and the larger watch industry. It's a truly invaluable resource, and we think you should bookmark it and refer to it whenever you find yourself shopping for a new or pre-owned watch. In this episode we get a market update from Hamza and a broad overview of the state of the pre-owned watch world, including a few notable surprises.  Hamza also tells us about his latest project, the American Watchmaking Directory. Hamza has always had an interest in American watchmaking and the state of the industry here, and the American Watchmaking Directory is a bit of a passion project that has been in the works for some time. It seeks to document as many American watch brands as possible, and will eventually also list suppliers and manufacturers of other watch components based in America as well. The idea is that it can be a place not just for collectors and enthusiasts to research American watchmaking, but to connect brands with each other and suppliers so they might collaborate more easily. To stay on top of all new episodes, you can subscribe to The Worn & Wound Podcast on all major platforms including Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, and more. What if grace is more than pardon—and actually the power that fuels multiplication? In this episode, Justus, a young professional leader in Oklahoma City, unpacks 2 Timothy 2:1–7 and shows how grace strengthens believers like fuel in an engine. Through vivid stories, soldier-athlete-farmer analogies, and real-life failures (like running out of gas on I-40), he reveals how God multiplies small acts of obedience into something far greater. You'll walk away encouraged to push the pedal of faith and watch God fill the gap with His strength.Show NotesIn this episode we cover:Grace as more than forgiveness—grace as strength. How the soldier, athlete, and farmer shape our understanding of endurance. Why multiplication requires grace, not just effort.Dallas Willard's insight: Grace is opposed to earning, not effort.Personal stories that make the theology tangible (like running out of gas).A new original song inspired by this lesson: Burnin' Grace in Worn Out Boots.

What if the belongings you bring into your home carried more than memories? Across countless true ghost stories, one terrifying theme repeats: haunted objects. From cursed jewelry to possessed furniture, spirits can attach themselves to items, turning them into conduits for supernatural energy. In this chilling episode, we dive into one of the most disturbing tales — a second-hand dress in Maine that carried the energy of violence, blood, and grief. Worn by a corpse involved in a brutal murder, the dress drove a teenage girl into a frenzy at her prom night, leaving horror and tragedy in its wake. Some say this is the real story that inspired Stephen King's Carrie. But haunted items are only the beginning. The story takes a darker turn with childhood encounters no one could explain. Imagine being four years old, looking out your window at night — and seeing a towering seven-foot figure standing just outside, watching. Sometimes closer, sometimes further away, sometimes rattling the back door as if trying to get in. This was no dream. The sound of footsteps, whispers, and even the sense of a presence outside the glass became a constant terror for a young child. These experiences blur the line between ghosts, demons, and something even more unsettling: human cruelty that lingers after death. Are some spirits merely unfinished souls… or do they become something darker, twisting into entities that deceive and torment the living? Haunted houses, cursed items, demonic lies — tonight's real haunting will make you question everything you think you know about the spirit world. #TrueGhostStory #HauntedObjects #RealHaunting #ParanormalStories #StephenKing #CursedItems #GhostStories #HauntedHouse #SleepParalysis #DemonicEntities #ParanormalActivity #CreepyEncounters Love real ghost stories? Ezekiel chapter 23 presents one of Scripture's most graphic metaphors as God depicts the spiritual infidelity of His people through the story of two sisters. These women, representing Samaria and Jerusalem, start as beautiful young women but tragically descend into prostitution, illustrating Israel's persistent pursuit of foreign gods and pagan practices. The striking imagery serves a powerful purpose. God reveals that from their earliest days in Egypt, His people had been spiritually unfaithful, bringing idolatrous practices with them even after their miraculous deliverance. The northern kingdom lusted after Assyria's military might and cultural sophistication, adopting their religious practices rather than remaining faithful to Yahweh. The southern kingdom committed even worse spiritual adultery by pursuing Babylonian and Egyptian influences despite having witnessed their sister's destruction. What makes this passage particularly relevant for today's believers is the parallel to modern spiritual compromise. Just as ancient Israel was seduced by powerful foreign nations, churches today often chase worldly entertainment, impressive personalities, and cultural relevance rather than remaining devoted to simple, biblical worship. We explore how congregations might prioritize charismatic speakers over spiritual maturity or entertaining programs over solid biblical teaching. The most sobering aspect of this metaphor is God's response—He ultimately uses the very nations Israel lusted after as instruments of judgment. This pattern reveals an important spiritual principle: the sins we pursue often become the instruments of our destruction. As one pastor notes, "Sin will take you farther than you ever wanted to go and keep you longer than you ever intended to stay."Yet even amidst this harsh judgment, we discover God's extraordinary patience. For nearly a thousand years, He sent prophets, provided deliverers, and offered opportunities for repentance before finally allowing judgment to fall. This reveals both His long-suffering nature and the reality that divine patience isn't endless when repentance is refused.Join us as we unpack this challenging passage and consider its implications for spiritual faithfulness in our churches and personal lives today. How might we recognize and resist the "foreign influences" that compromise our devotion to God?Support the showThank you for listening!! Bible Reading: Psalm 51:1-12; 2 Corinthians 5:17Cassian pointed to a row of cars on display at the automobile museum. "Don't these old cars look funny, Grandpa?" Grandpa smiled. "Well, they look a bit funny to us now, but they were pretty fancy in their day." He pointed to one of the cars. "My grandfather drove a car like that when he was a young man. It came in any color you wanted, as long as what you wanted was black."Cassian laughed. "Did you get to ride around in it when you were a kid?" "No," said Grandpa. "It was long gone by then. I just saw it in a picture.""Some of these old cars look brand new!" Cassian said, peering through the window of one of them. "This one doesn't look like it's ever been out on the road.""Oh, but it has," said Grandpa. "It's very old and must have traveled many miles, but it's been restored.""Restored?" asked Cassian. "That means it's been fixed up so it looks just like it did when it was new, right?"Grandpa nodded. "Worn-out parts have been replaced, and the car's been repainted with shiny new paint. It's just like it's brand new again." He stooped down to get a closer look at the car's shiny wheels. "It's kind of like what Jesus does for us when we confess our sins to Him. He forgives us and makes us clean again. The Bible says He restores our souls. It's like He refreshes us and makes us brand new.""When an old car is restored, it must look way different than it did when it was worn out," said Cassian. "But Jesus doesn't make us look different.""Well, I'm not so sure about that," said Grandpa. "He changes our spirit and soul and attitude, and I think that can make us look different too. We're able to have a better outlook on life and care deeply for others because we know our sins have been forgiven and we belong to Him. And that often puts a smile on our faces instead of a scowl. Don't you think?"Cassian thought about it. "Yeah," he said. "I guess so!" –Sam L. SullivanHow About You?Are you feeling worn out by sin in your life? Do you need to be restored? Even though Jesus saves us and makes us new people the moment we put our faith in Him, we need His ongoing forgiveness and restoration in our lives. When you confess your wrongs to Jesus, He will restore you and leave you feeling brand new! When you feel refreshed and clean again, let it show so others can see what Jesus has done for you.Today's Key Verse:He [God] restores my soul.
