Lieblings-007? Roger Moore. "If it's for any other reason (than that you want to) ... you're an idiot." That was Jim Hurst checking Dean Potter on making bad decisions on their climb up the famous Eiger mountain. But it applies to us as conscious creators, too.We know that we can only experience what we vibrate, so suffering our way to success isn't a thing.Struggle just leads to struggle, misery leads to more misery, and only happy journeys lead to happy outcomes. That point is powerfully brought home in a life and death situation on the Swiss Alps!
In this episode, I'm taking you to Switzerland and to the Valais Canton. I recently returned from a trip to three very different ski resorts: Les Marécottes, Verbier, and Bettmeralp. Each was beautiful in its own way, but it was the Aletsch Arena that truly stayed with me. It has been described as an insider's secret resort or a hidden gem. But it is well known to the Swiss and it's where they go to ski.In this episode, I'm joined by local expert David Kestens, who helps bring the Aletsch Arena to life. We talk about the car-free mountain villages of Riederalp, Bettmeralp, and Fiescheralp. David gives us an insiders guide to the insiders secret resort. I found myself deeply drawn to the Aletsch Arena, not just for its scenery, but for the feeling it creates. We also explore what the region offers throughout the year, from peaceful alpine walks in summer to skiing and snowshoeing in the winter months. The Aletsch Arena is home to the Great Aletsch Glacier, the longest glacier in the Alps, and forms part of one of Switzerland's most remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Surrounded by more than forty peaks rising over four thousand metres including the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, and the Eiger. It's a place that naturally encourages you to slow down and take a breath. We also chat about Les Marécottes, and about what is possibly Switzerland's most famous ski resort, Verbier. A place that's very personal to me. I've visited Verbier many times over the years and it's where I first learned to ski.Join me as we explore why the Aletsch Arena, and the wider Valais region, are among the most special places to visit, from the stunning mountain villages to the wonderful train, and discover why they may just earn a place on your Switzerland bucket list.If you haven't already, I'd ask you to give me a follow on whichever platform you listen to your podcasts and you will be the first to get a new episode.Stays Marecottes - https://www.zoo-alpin.ch/fr/zoo-boutique-hotelButtmeralps - https://www.sporting-bettmeralp.ch Fergal O'Keeffe is the host of Ireland's No.1 Travel Podcast Travel Tales with Fergal which is now listened to in 140 countries worldwide. Rav Akiva Eiger story!!What do you have to do for pesach this year!?
Underpinned by new shipper commitments, a WhiteWater Midstream-led team has upsized the capacity of its planned 2.5-Bcf/d Eiger Express Pipeline to a whopping 3.7 Bcf/d. In today's RBN blog, we'll discuss the expansion plan.
In this company update, Mike Burkey, VP of Corporate Development at Sitka Gold (TSX.V:SIG | OTCQB:SITKF | Frankfurt:1RF), recaps the final 2025 drill results from the Blackjack, Eiger and Saddle zones, aimed at expanding the 2.8 million ounce resource at the RC Gold Project. We discuss successful resource extensions at the Blackjack and Eiger zones, the value of the Saddle Zone in reducing the strip ratio, and the confirmation of increasing grade with depth. The major catalyst pending is the final batch of 36 drill holes, predominantly from the high-grade Rhosgobel discovery. This episode presents Rav Akiva Eiger's classic kasha on Tzaras Tzarah: why does the Torah require a special pasuk of “litzror” to asser the second co-wife? Once the first tzarah becomes Eishes Ach, she would seem to carry the full status of an ervah, and an ervah ordinarily extends its halachic effect to a co-wife automatically. What, then, necessitates a new pasuk?Rav Nachum's yesod provides the framework: the halachos of yibbum operate within two distinct categories—issur and ptur mitzvah. An ervah does not merely forbid; she removes the mitzvah of yibbum and thereby creates a ptur that applies to her tzarah. Eishes Ach, however, is a pure issur—and precisely the issur overridden by yibbum. An issur of this type has no koach to generate a ptur for another woman.Accordingly, even when the first tzarah becomes Eishes Ach, she remains within the realm of issur and cannot affect her fellow co-wife. Without the pasuk, the Tzaras Tzarah would remain permitted. The pasuk is thus indispensable. This episode articulates Rav Akiva Eiger's kasha and Rav Nachum's yesod as two sides of the same structure, defining why only an ervah—through ptur—can extend to a tzarah, and why Eishes Ach cannot.

I'm joined again by Mike Burke, Director & VP of Corporate Development at Sitka Gold (TSX.V:SIG - OTCQB:SITKF - FRE:1RF), for an update on the ongoing 30,000-meter drill program at the RC Gold Project in Yukon's Tombstone Gold Belt. This discussion focuses on the Pukelman area, a target that has seen limited attention compared to Blackjack and Eiger. Sitka is now reporting visible gold in multiple drill holes from the Pukelman Contact Zone, marking it as a potential new deposit area. Mike provides background on the historic drilling (2010-2011) and explains how Sitka's oriented core drilling is advancing the geological understanding of both the Pukelman intrusion and the surrounding contact zone. Key topics include: The significance of visible gold at the Pukelman contact zone. Goals for the 5,000 meters of drilling allocated to Pukelman within the 30,000-meter program. Structural controls linking Pukelman with Sitka's known deposits at Eiger and Blackjack. Potential to outline another deposit area alongside Rhosgobel. Upcoming assays from 52 holes pending at the lab. First drilling underway at the Bear Paw target. If you have any follow up questions for Mike please email me at Fleck@kereport.com. Tales from the Trails (TFTT) is back and this time Kenton is on the Eiger in the Swiss Alps. Kenton talks us through his ascent of the 3,967m Eiger, with his client Marco. They ascend via the Mittellegi ridge and descend via the South Ridge on an absolutely beautiful summer's day with views for miles. Having not done this particular climb since 2009, Kenton is reminded that it is not a walk in the park! Listen now to experience the Eiger through Kenton's eyes.
In this update, Mike Burke, Director and VP of Corporate Development at Sitka Gold, joins me to share the latest drill results from the Rhosgobel area of the RC Gold Project. Following last week's discussion, Sitka has released two more standout holes, including: 166m of 1.14 g/t gold from surface 239m of 0.6 g/t gold from surface Mike details how drilling has now traced over 900m of strike length, intersected visible gold in 16 holes, and continues to expand east-west, with future potential to step out north-south. He explains how soil geochemistry, oriented drill core, and geophysics are layered together for targeting, and why Rhosgobel could add significant ounces to the overall resource base alongside the Blackjack and Eiger deposits. We also touch on: The scale and potential of intrusion-related gold systems in the Yukon and Alaska Upcoming drill plans for other targets, including the Contact and Pukelman zones The possibility of building a multi-million-ounce gold camp entirely within Sitka's claims If you have any follow up questions for Mike please email me at Fleck@kereport.com. Kim and her daughter Mia just got back from a mother-daughter trip to Switzerland. They celebrated her high school graduation with a grad trip and since Mia loves mountains and she was already going to be in France with a school trip, Switzerland was her top choice! They visited Geneva, Zermatt and the Jungfrau Region because they really wanted to focus on the mountains. Altogether they spent eight nights in Switzerland and they moved around a lot. The itinerary included: 1 night in Geneva 2 nights in Zermatt to see the Matterhorn 2 nights in Grindelwald 2 nights in Wengen 2 nights in Lucerne If you are going to Switzerland and you really want to spend time in the mountains, skip Geneva and Lucerne and focus more on the smaller towns, not the cities. Their favorite town was Zermatt for hiking and also wine tasting. Grindelwald was the other favorite because of the hotel and the view of Eiger. Some of the activities included: Visit the old town in the cities (e.g. Geneva) Hiking (which are harder than you might expect even on trails described as easy, use Google Maps to see elevation, buy or bring hiking poles if you can and are checking a bag) Cable cars (which are pricey) Matterhorn Glacier (you can also ski even in the summer) Alpine slides / mountain coaster / ziplines The train is a great way to get around the country and if you use a Swiss Rail Pass you also get transportation on some of the cable cars (but not all). It makes it very easy because you don't need to worry about buying tickets. First class will give you more seating options and it is less crowded so it is quieter. It is hard to use the trains if you have large luggage as some of the trains are more for locals/commuters. Try to pack light if you can or use a luggage forwarding service. It is better to stay longer in each destination as you spend a lot of time transiting up and down the mountains via train/cable car. Basing yourself in Murren or other smaller towns ends up with a lot of time waiting for transportation. It makes more sense to stay in Grindelwald, Interlaken, or Lauterbrunnen. When planning a trip, be sure to plan at least six to nine months in advance if you want to stay in town and at the better hotels. Also, when considering different hotels, the hospitality is wonderful but look closely at the amenities that are offered. Most don't have air conditioning but it wasn't needed in the mountains. Some hotels have screens on the windows but not all and there are a lot of flies and some mosquitoes. Keep in mind that shops close early (6-7 pm) and that busses also stop running by 7:00 pm in small towns. Hotels and meals are very expensive in Switzerland, especially now that the dollar is weak against the CHF and Euro. Main entrees are 30-50 CHF per person, salads 12-19 CHF, and beer was cheap but wine was expensive. To save money, you can buy wine or beer at the grocery store to enjoy before you go out. Drink sizes are also very small. The food is a lot of fondue, cheese, pasta, raclette, and chocolate. Other regions might have more regional specialties. Otherwise there are a lot of burgers and international cuisine. If you do have allergies, there are a lot of peanuts and other nuts being served as a snack or included in dishes. Credit cards can be used almost everywhere. In all the tourist areas, everyone spoke English. They were less accommodating in the city or non-tourist establishment. Be sure to pack and wear sunscreen. It is hard to find places to refill a water bottle so you may want to carry your own snacks and drinks.
In this KE Report company update, we speak with Mike Burke, Director and VP of Corporate Development at Sitka Gold (TSX.V: SIG - OTCQB: SITKF - Frankfurt: 1RF), to recap the latest drill results from the Rhosgobel zone, part of the company's large-scale RC Gold Project in Yukon. Key Interview Highlights: Strong early results from Rhosgobel: Holes 3 and 5 returned up to 152m of 1.0 g/t Au (hole 3), including higher-grade intervals - all starting near surface. Expansion underway: 18 holes drilled at Rhosgobel to date; ~4,000m of 10,000m planned now completed. Strike length now extends 900m based on step-out drilling. Open at depth: Mineralization traced from surface to 200m depth, with visible gold in deeper intervals still awaiting assays. Interpreted as steeply dipping, east-west trending vein system. How it compares: Rhosgobel could rival the Blackjack and Eiger zones (2.8Moz combined) in tonnage, with comparable or better grades. What's next: Two rigs remain active at Rhosgobel; two more now drilling at the Pukelman-Contact zone. Potential to deliver an initial Rhosgobel resource by Q1 2026. Sitka is advancing four key zones across the RC Gold Project in 2025, targeting both resource growth and new discoveries. In this company update, I reconnect with Mike Burke, Director & VP of Corporate Development at Sitka Gold (TSX.V:SIG - OTCQB:SITKF - FRE:1RF), to discuss the latest drill results from the RC Gold Project in the Tombstone Gold Belt, Yukon. On July 17th, Sitka reported new results from the Saddle Zone, an area within the conceptual pit boundary of the Blackjack deposit. These intersections are demonstrating near-surface, multi-gram gold mineralization roughly 300 meters east of the current resource outline - effectively converting previously classified waste into potentially economic material. Key discussion points: Saddle Zone Expansion: Intersections grading ~2 g/t gold, double the Blackjack resource average, with implications for future economics. Eiger Step-Outs: New drilling on the western margin intersecting broad widths of Iger-style mineralization, linking deposits. Resource Growth Potential: Blackjack & Eiger already host 2.8M ounces (Inferred and Indicated) combined; ongoing drilling continues to grow these cornerstone deposits. Steady News Flow: Over half of the 30,000m drill program completed with results expected through year-end and into early 2026. Shareholder Interest: Insights from recent Yukon site tours, showcasing the proximity of multiple targets and the project's scale. If you have any follow up questions for Mike please email me at Fleck@kereport.com. Click here visit the Sitka Gold website to learn more about the Company.
I'm joined by Mike Burke, Director and VP of Corporate Development at Sitka Gold (TSX.V:SIG - OTCQB:SITKF - FRE:1RF), for an update on the 30,000-meter drill program at the RC Gold Project in Yukon, following the July 10th news release. Key highlights from the interview: All 9 holes at the Rhosgobel target have intersected visible gold, with mineralization confirmed across 250 meters of strike and to 350 meters depth. Positioning Rhosgobel as a strong candidate for Sitka's third gold deposit. The Saddle zone, situated between the Blackjack and Eiger deposits, is also returning visible gold. Drilling here could add ounces within existing conceptual pit limits, enhancing project economics by lowering the strip ratio. Assays are pending, with initial results from Blackjack and Eiger expected in the coming weeks and Rhosgobel assays to follow shortly after. The program is ahead of schedule and under budget, with drilling costs at ~$350/m. A potential resource update is targeted for Q1 2026, depending on assay results and drill density at new zones. If you have any follow up questions for Mike please email me at Fleck@kereport.com. Click here visit the Sitka Gold website to learn more about the Company.
Mike Burke, Director and VP of Corporate Development, returns to provide an exploration update from the ongoing 30,000-meter drill program at the RC Gold Project in the Yukon's Tombstone Gold Belt. Key Theme: Sitka hits 211m of 1.13 g/t Au, including 73m of 2.04 g/t Au, at the Blackjack Deposit – the first hole of its summer drill program. Discussion Highlights: Summer Drill Results Begin: Hole 77 delivers strong results from the Blackjack Zone, validating expansion potential with broad and higher-grade intercepts. 3-Zone Strategy: Sitka is advancing drilling across Blackjack, Saddle, and Eiger zones - 15,000m allocated - plus targeting Rhosgobel with 10,000m. Deep Expansion Potential: Winter Hole 76 extended deeper into mineralization; Sitka is building out an underground model to complement near-surface ounces. Early Assay Progress: Over 10,000m drilled across 23 holes - completed ahead of schedule and under budget. Company has the flexibility and cash to expand beyond 30,000m. Rhosgobel Discovery: First three holes in this year's program show visible gold, following last year's 119m of 1.05 g/t Au in first-ever diamond drilling at this target. Lab Turnaround & Yukon Activity: Assay delays are building as multiple companies ramp up big programs, but Sitka uses visible gold to guide ongoing drilling. If you have any follow up questions for Mike please email me at Fleck@kereport.com. Click here visit the Sitka Gold website to learn more about the Company.
John and Hunter return to the well to look at another Clint Eastwood film, this one being The Eiger Sanction, an odd, somewhat forgotten movie from our favorite star. We talk about the stunning mountain cinematography, the weird saga with its novel and script, and its connection to the Destroyer novels.
Sitka Gold's (TSX.V:SIG - OTCQB:SITKF - FRE:1RF) aggressive 30,000m drill campaign is in full swing at the RC Gold Project, with visual gold already intersected in every hole so far this season. In this company update I caught up with Mike Burke, Director and VP of Corporate Development at Sitka Gold, to discuss recent news from the ongoing exploration program. We discuss: Three rigs are turning (with a fourth on-site), targeting expansion at the Blackjack, Eiger, and Saddle Zone deposits Early drill holes are reporting visible gold, supporting confidence in deeper and lateral mineralization potential 2025 campaign is fully funded with $25 million in the treasury Blackjack already hosts over 2.3Moz gold (Indicated + Inferred) - this year's drilling aims to expand the resource further and explore nearby anomalies The Saddle Zone, sitting between Blackjack and Eiger, is now being prioritized for the first time since 2021, based on strong gold-in-soil anomalies Additional targets at Rhosgobel, and Pukelman areas will be tested later in the season Mike also shares thoughts on the market's positive reaction to exploration news and when investors can expect initial assay results. If you have any follow up questions for Mike please email me at Fleck@kereport.com. Click here visit the Sitka Gold website to learn more about the Company.
Cody and Jonathan discuss The Eiger Sanction, because it celebrates its 50th anniversary this week; it stars Clint Eastwood, who was the biggest movie star in the world at the time; and, perhaps most importantly here, Alex Honnold has called The Eiger Sanction the most realistic climbing film that Hollywood has ever produced. Welcome to mid-spring here at The High Route Podcast. Here in the Pacific Northwest, ski crampon season. It is also the season to unearth an interview with Fay Manners, a British alpinist and ski mountaineer, recorded late last summer. Manners caught my attention for one reason: she practices the aforementioned mountain disciplines at a high level. To optimize mountain conditions in winter and the shoulder seasons, it helps to be skilled at rock, ice, and mixed climbing, and when the snow is stable and conditions prime, slapping skis or a snowboard on the feet makes sense, too. Over the years, British alpinist/ski-alpinist Fay Manners has built up a reputation as a go-getter. Which is to say that Manners comes with the full mountain-skills package. In 2024, Manners and Tom Lafaille opened up the Stratonspherique ski line on the Aiguille d'Argentière. On the alpinism side, Manners has the first female ascent of the Phantom Direct route on the south face of the Grand Jorasses. She also climbed the North Face of the Eiger, the American Direct on the Dru, and the Walker Spur on the Grandes Jorasses.Far from exuding the vibe of an adrenaline junkie, Manners imparts an ethos of building skills, becoming fit, and knowing when one is at their limits, and using those skills to—and again, we'll emphasize multi-disciplinarian skills—to move efficiently and safely in the hills.Manners has had her share of close calls. Having recorded this interview last summer, we had kept an eye on Manners and her adventures. When this headline came across a newsfeed, there was a sinking feeling: Two climbers go missing. These stories often don't end well. Manners and her partner, American alpinist Michelle Dvorak, were rescued three days later. The pair lost much of their gear, including their shelter, when rockfall severed a haul line. For those of us following thousands of miles away, the rescue came as a huge relief. On flat ground, Manners is trained and has worked as a data analyst; on less flat ground, she's come into her own as a mountain athlete. But for those just being introduced to the mountains, Manners is a reminder that mountain pedigree is what you make of it. In her twenties, Manners began tapping into snow and climbing while working as a data analyst in New York City. From Vermont's Jay Peak to New York's Gunks, she's lived a full-value life in Alaska, Pakistan, and near her adopted home in Chamonix. Thanks for listening, and have a good day, The High Route Team. If you are new to The High Route, we are a reader and listener-supported enterprise focusing on human-powered turn making. Our mission is simple, but it takes real deal calorie burning to piece it all together. We are also excited to announce Issue 1.0 of The High Route magazine is shipping. Fancy paper. Good reads. Mike Burke, Director and VP of Corporate Development at Sitka Gold (TSX.V:SIG - OTCQB:SITKF - FRE:1RF), joins me to unpack the April 22nd news release reporting drill results from Hole 75 at the RC Gold Project in Yukon. This hole marks the deepest and highest-grade gold intercept to date, with highlights including: 108.9m of 3.27 g/t gold, including 45.0m of 4.52 g/t gold at depth A broader interval of 352.8m grading 1.55 g/t gold, all within the Blackjack deposit Early evidence for a potential underground mining scenario below the current pit-constrained resource Mike explains how this hole steps out from a previously high-grade interval (Hole 68), what the figures show in cross-section and plan view, and why deeper mineralization could transform both the scope and economics of this project. We also discuss: The 30,000-meter fully funded drill program and upcoming assays from Hole 76 Expansion plans for other targets across the property, including Eiger, Saddle, and Rhosgobel The strategy with over $25 million in the treasury If you have any follow up questions for Mike please email me at Fleck@kereport.com. Last year, Babsi Zangerl did something no one has ever done before—she flashed a route on El Capitan. Thousands of feet of hard climbing with no falls. Her partner, Jacopo Larcher, came really close, taking just one fall during their ascent of Freerider. Zangerl has been a climber for over two decades, since she was a teenager at a climbing gym in Austria. But what, and how, she climbs has evolved over that time—she spent her early years as a professional boulderer. Zangerl first visited Yosemite fifteen years ago with her friend Hansjörg Auer. She was getting more serious about ropes after sustaining a serious back injury while bouldering. Since that first trip in 2010, Zangerl has returned with Larcher to free climb many of the valley's classic routes, including Zodiac, Magic Mushroom and the Nose. In 2018 the pair climbed the North Face of the Eiger. In 2022 they freed Eternal Flame on Pakistan's Nameless Tower, a trip Larcher wrote about in Alpinist 82. And their list of accomplishments just keeps growing. In this episode, Zangerl talks about the beginnings of her climbing career in Austria, her partnership with Larcher, learning the ropes from Hansjörg Auer and much more. This episode is brought to you with support from the American Alpine Club. Fresh on the heels of last week's novel review, we're proud to present our conversation about Clint Eastwood's film adaptation of Trevanian's "The Eiger Sanction" from 1975. Recorded a few years back with our good buddy Jeff Chapman from Bond By Numbers, no Eiger stone was left unturned in this deep-dive investigation, re-polished for your listening pleasure.
Juraj Koreň is an expert alpine climber and pilot from Slovakia who has been chasing some very extreme (often solo) adventures around the world for the last decade, including his 7 "virgin summits" attempt to climb and fly off the world's highest peaks. We begin this conversation discussing his experience in the 2019 Red Bull X-Alps and how mistakes in his first race have guided his last five years of preparations for his second race this June. They discuss the challenges of solo climbing and the importance of understanding mortality in adventure sports. Juraj reflects on his experiences, including a harrowing solo climb of the north face of the Eiger and the mental battles faced during the Red Bull X-Alps race. We discuss the addictive nature of extreme sports, the lessons learned from past experiences, and the importance and intrigue of solo missions for personal growth and reflection.

What if the people around you – your coworkers, neighbors, even your closest friends – aren't human at all, but something else hiding in plain sight?IN THIS EPISODE: Have you ever felt like something was off about someone you met? What if the truth was more bizarre than you could imagine - that aliens walk secretly among us, perfectly disguised? (Mimic In The Mirror) *** The short story “Eight O'Clock In The Morning” by Ray Nelson – the inspiration for the movie “They Live!” *** Left-handedness: once a mark of the devil, now a unique trait celebrated across the globe. From the Salem Witch Trials to modern-day challenges with spiral notebooks, left-handers have been forced to navigate a world designed for righties, despite the historical stigmas, surprising advantages, and the evolving recognition of left-handers in combat, culture, and commerce. (Left-Handers Are In League With The Devil) *** In the shadow of Switzerland's majestic Eiger mountain, 29-year-old Aidan Roche vanished without a trace during a solo hiking trip. Despite an unlocked camper-van and one last eerie messages sent from the trail, his disappearance remained shrouded in mystery. Months later, a grim discovery brought more questions than answers. (The Disappearance of Aidan Roche) *** In the summer of 1948, a series of inexplicable fires ravaged the Willey farm near Macomb, Illinois, destroying the family's home and barns. Despite the efforts of local authorities and the U.S. Air Force, no logical explanation could be found for the hundreds of mysterious blazes that seemed to start spontaneously. At the center of this baffling case was 13-year-old Wanet McNeil, whose alleged confession to arson left many unconvinced. Was Wanet truly responsible? Could she have been starting the fires with her mind? (The Macomb Firestarter) *** In 1991, 63-year-old Vasile Gorgos left his home in Romania to visit a cattle market and never returned, leaving his family to believe he had met a tragic fate. But 30 years later, Vasile shocked everyone when he mysteriously reappeared, wearing the same clothes as the day he vanished and carrying an unused train ticket from 1991 in his pocket. With no memory of where he'd been for three decades, Vasile's strange case has left people wondering if his disappearance could be tied to supernatural phenomena like portals, alien abduction, or shifts in time and space itself. Climbing a mountain can be complicated, and enticing and even when life hangs in the balance, men still want more of it. This, is part of the allure for the North Face of the Eiger. The first attempt up the north face had a 100% mortality rate, and for 4 years after that the mortality rate was 50%. The wall became known as the “murder wall”, and with a name like that, rescue parties wanted nothing to do with it. If you were crazy enough to climb the Eiger, you got yourself off, or you died. Welcome back to Tragedy with a View. The outdoors are a beautiful that can be filled with light and bliss and many different ways to bring yourself closer to those you love and yourself. But they can also be filled with terror and death, imminent and oppressive. Join me as we dig into these stories that inspire you to be just a little bit more careful while you're in the outdoors. 2024-10-22 | Moscow has been using old, underinsured ships to transport oil, and is estimated their capacity has increased by 70% since last year. This is despite a recent crackdown on insurers and shipping companies that are apparently enabling Moscow to circumvent Western sanctions. ---------- SILICON CURTAIN FILM FUNDRAISER - A project to make a documentary film in Ukraine, to raise awareness of Ukraine's struggle and in supporting a team running aid convoys to Ukraine's frontline towns. https://buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtain/extras ---------- Shares in shipbroker Braemar fell after the Financial Times of London release a report on the Russian ‘shadow fleet', and how it's using ancient vessels to move oil beyond the reach of western sanctions. The ‘shadow fleet' is estimated to consist of more than 400 vessels that are moving about 4 million barrels of oil per day. The Financial Times alleged involvement of Braemar, causing its stock to fall 11% in two days. London has long been a global centre of the maritime industry and Braemar, founded in 1982, is one of the industry's leading brokers. Their business model is to match buyers and sellers of vessels in return for a percentage of the purchase price. It would be scandalous indeed, if they were involved in brokering to build up Russia's shadow fleet that it props up its war economy and the war machine that is focused on the annihilation of Ukraine. Oil that Russia transports using this fleet generates billions of dollars a year in additional revenue. The FT reported that at least 25 of shadow fleet vessels had been purchased by a British accountant on behalf of Eiger Shipping DMCC, the Dubai-based shipping arm of Lukoil, Russia's second-largest oil producer. Eiger, it is alleged, financed the acquisitions by paying in advance to charter the vessels. The accountant's lawyers, and another person, told the FT Braemar was fully aware the vessels were being acquired for, and financed by, Eiger. ---------- Sources and recommended reading: https://www.ft.com/content/57b85fab-fa44-4881-b7ed-543116920fa7 https://www.ft.com/content/b9dee3f3-c2f8-4aa1-b0d9-d207f815b6e5 https://www.politico.eu/article/revealed-putins-sanctions-busting-shadow-fleet-is-spilling-oil-all-over-the-world/ https://euromaidanpress.com/2024/10/15/ukraines-foreign-minister-calls-on-europe-to-fight-russias-shadow-fleet-of-tankers/ ---------- SUPPORT THE CHANNEL: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtain https://www.patreon.com/siliconcurtain ---------- TRUSTED CHARITIES ON THE GROUND: Save Ukraine https://www.saveukraineua.org/ Superhumans - Hospital for war traumas https://superhumans.com/en/ UNBROKEN - Treatment.
