Today we are talking PFL's 2023 tournament championships. While fights like Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. Clay Collard and Kayla Harrison vs. Aspen Ladd were fun, sitting through the broadcast was mind numbing at best. We will talk about what PFL can do to make the production of their event better. But we can't talk about just that. We have to talk about fights! PFL put on six title fights and we talk about the best on the night. Olivier Aubin-Mercier has won ten straight fights and beat some of the best in the world all while earning $2 million in the process. If you missed it, his fight with Clay Collard was the best on the night and an absolute pleasure to watch. Clay Collard is still hoping he will face Jake Paul sooner or later and will watch his upcoming fight with Nate Diaz closely. Collard (22-10, 1NC; 4-2 PFL) is coming off a dominant victory over a tough opponent in Professional Fighters League newcomer Yamato Nishikawa at PFL 3. Even though “Cassius” implemented his traditional boxing-based game plan, he didn't finish the clash inside the distance, mainly thanks to his opponent's remarkable durability, which Collard praised on more than one occasion. While the Ultimate Fighting Championship alum is pouring his body and soul into the 2023 PFL Regular Season, he is still interested in a superfight with YouTuber-turned-professional-boxer Paul, who's now attached to a clash with UFC vet Nate Diaz on Aug. 5. Collard had already called out Paul once, but to no avail, and is now sarcastically commenting the matchup stating that Paul ‘didn't want the smoke.'“I'm always down to fight, especially guys that think they're tough. He definitely thinks he's tough. I'd love to fight him. I mean, it's cool. We'll see how it does. I think Diaz has a little bit better boxing than some of the other opponents that he faced, like Ben Askren, you know, I don't think he could box his way out of the paper stack. Biaggio Ali Walsh passed his second Professional Fighters League test with flying colors but sounds a bit disappointed he didn't wrestle with his opponent. It took less than two minutes for Ali Walsh to stop Isaiah Figueroa in their 155-pound tilt at the recent 2023 PFL 2 event. In what turned out to be a striking contest, Ali Walsh displayed his boxing pedigree — he is the grandson of former boxing heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, after all — and forced the referee to stop the action at the 1:42 mark of Round 1 thanks to a thunderous right hook. While talking with Sherdog about his performance, the Las Vegas, Nevada, native confessed he would have loved to prove he's more than a striker by wrestling a bit with his foe in front of the home city crowd but preferred to take home the victory the moment it presented itself to him. In the future, fans might be surprised to see a different side of Ali Walsh's offensive arsenal as the fighter vows to implement his ‘Khabib Nurmagomedov' style. “I actually wanted to show off my wrestling this fight, but um, sometimes you gotta just stick to what you know. Biaggio Ali Walsh has found his path in life and wants to make a living out of mixed martial arts.Ali Walsh is an all-around athlete who tested himself in different disciplines before taking up MMA, including college football, but it seems that fighting in the cage is in his future. After all, combat sports are in his blood since he's the grandchild of former boxing champion Muhammad Ali. Last year, Ali Walsh signed with the Professional Fighters League a special development contract that allows him to compete on the PFL cards even though he hasn't made his professional debut yet. The 24-year old made his first promotional appearance in November when he crushed Tom Graesser with a 45-second knockout victory. Now, Ali Walsh is scheduled to take on Isaiah Figueroa in a 155-pound tilt on the 2023 PFL 2 card. Ahead of the fight, Ali Walsh discussed the motivation behind his will to perform so well in the cage and, in general, in life. “I would say just all the love and the support that I get from my family and friends, that's what really motivates me so much is seeing that they believe in me. Even the PFL, for them to even just believe in me and see a future with me, that gives me so much motivation to just do better and get better and be the best at some point in my life.
