When most people visit a museum, they walk through history. But aboard the USS Edson, you're walking inside it. In this episode, Navy veteran and lifelong Bay City resident Bill Randall takes us deep into the hull of a Vietnam-era destroyer—now a floating museum—and deeper still into the heart of what it means to serve, remember, and preserve. From scavenging radar systems through old-school bartering (“we traded a torpedo for it”) to turning the ship into Michigan's most haunted Halloween attraction, Bill and his dwindling crew of volunteers have spent over a decade keeping this legend alive—one paintbrush stroke, one ghost story, one overnight scout trip at a time.More than a warship, the USS Edson is now a living monument, a place where memory, education, and community collide—moored just off the Saginaw River.Links:USS Edson Website: https://svnsm.com/USS Edson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ussedsonmuseumSubscribe to our Email Newsletter: https://totalmichigan.com/join/Find us on Facebook: https://facebook.com/totalmichiganWatch on YouTube: https://youtube.com/@totalmichigan

During this second season of the podcast we're highlighting 3 spiritual rhythms reflected in the life of Christ: Cave, Table, and Road. In this first episode Tim connects with Novo Leaders Bill Randall & Darren Prince, to explore both the history, as well of the current application of these essential spiritual rhythms. Check out this Novo blog to read more about Cave, Table, and Road. About Our Guests: Darren Prince is Novo's Senior Vice President. He currently lives and serves in Whitechapel London. Darren loves to read, he's an encouragement to everyone he meets, and he often finds friends in the most unlikely of places. Bill Randall is the Director of Novo's Gospel Movement Teams. He and his wife Jill live nearby their kids in Boise, ID. Bill loves to equip everyday people with tools to see God at work in and through them. Bill also loves fishing.
The USS Edson is a National Historic Landmark and only one of the two surviving Forrest Sherman-class destroyers. Since 2012, the USS Edson DD-946 has been docked along the Saginaw River as the Saginaq Valley Naval Ship Museum. It earned it's nickname, The Grey Ghost of The Vietnamese Coast not because it had ghosts aboard and the story is a wonderful one, but these days, there are real ghosts aboard this haunted ship and Bill Randall, a volunteer who has thousands of tours of the ship for many years, can certainly vouch for that and has lots of stories about happenings to him, and others on the ship during paranormal investigations. Listen in and hear about the sailor who took is own life on the ship, and manysightings of Paul Spampanato, who died of a heart attack suffered aboard the vessel on Thanksgiving in 1999. The USS Edson has lots of stories to tell and Bill Randall is the go-to guy to tell them.

Things that matter as we age is an intriguing premise for a new book. Co-editors Bill Randall and Matte Robinson join Jeanne Armstrong in the studio for an in depth conversation, this is part 1.
Cory and Brian interview Jill and Bill Randall. Jill and Bill have been church planters and now lead the Gospel Movements Team for Novo, which is a band of creative missionaries sent to multiply movements of the gospel and mobilize the church for mission around the world. In 30-plus years of ministry, Jill and Bill have trained countless teams and leaders in normalizing the supernatural within disciple-making. Most important of those teams is their own family. We get to hear their stories of how joining Jesus through prayer and healings has shaped their kids and grandkids. "Miracles serve as signs that make people wonder."
ITC Entertained The World - Episode 16 (Season 2, episode 3) - The Sentimental Agent Hosted by Jaz Wiseman, Rodney Marshall and Al Samujh. Jaz, Rodney and Al discuss The Sentimental Agent - the 1963 ITC action/adventure 'light' series that starred Carlos Thompson as import/export agent Carlos Varella, Burt Kwouk as Chin, Clemence Bettany as Suzy Carter and John Turner as Bill Randall. It's A Very Desirable Plot as we open A Box of Tricks to discover why Carlos goes missing and how his replacement Bill doesn't have everything Not Quite Fully Covered. There's A Little Sweetness and Light to the episodes and it's fun all round but be advised as to Never Play Cards With Strangers. As with all the previous ITC Entertained The World podcasts it's All That Jazz and there's no Beneficiary as the podcast is free from adverts, free from sponsors and free to download.
Bill Randall has been immersed in story his entire life. He grew up the son of a pastor, his father being a natural storyteller. Bill, too became a minister in the early part of his career practicing what he now calls narrative care, listening to people's stories. As a retired professor and gerontologist at St. Thomas University, he wants us to understand the power of our stories we age. Today we chat about how our strength lies in our stories and how to be a better listener. We talk about aging and spirituality including how he reconciled religion with spirituality. -- About Dr. William Randall -- William L. (Bill) Randall is a retired Professor of Gerontology at St. Thomas University (STU) on Canada's Atlantic coast. Brought up in rural New Brunswick, he holds an A.B. from Harvard College, a Th.M. from Princeton Theological Seminary, and M.Div. and Ed.D. degrees from the University of Toronto. After a ten-year career as a protestant minister with the United Church of Canada (1979-1989), serving parishes in Saskatchewan, Ontario, and New Brunswick, he taught English and Adult Education for four years at Seneca College in Toronto. In 1995, he began a 27 year career at STU where he taught a range of undergraduate courses in gerontology and helped to pioneer a unique approach to the study of aging known as narrative gerontology. Narrative gerontology blends insights from the humanities and social sciences to probe the complex dynamics of inner (or biographical) development in later life. Bill has given keynotes, papers, and workshops on this approach at conferences and universities in Canada, the US, the UK, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, France, and Spain. Co-recipient of the 2009 Theoretical Developments in Social Gerontology Award from the Gerontological Society of America, Bill is founding co-editor of theNarrative Works journal, founding organizer of the Narrative Matters international conferences, and author or co-author of over 70 publications on narrative gerontology and related topics, including eight books. Among these are Reading Our Lives: The Poetics of Growing Old and The Narrative Complexity of Ordinary Life: Tales from the Coffee Shop, both published by Oxford University Press. -- Connect with Bill Randall https://www.williamlrandall.com/

Interview with Bill Randall
Mark McGwire's and Sammy Sosa's 1998 home run chase was the focus of a recent ESPN documentary, however the film only contained a cursory look at the steroids and performance-enhancing drug links to each former slugger. McGwire would admit to his PED use in 2010 during a televised interview, but his name had surfaced during a landmark federal investigation into steroids trafficking decades earlier, when two Michigan FBI agents carried out Operation Equine from 1989 to 1993. In this interview, those two retired agents, Greg Stejskal and Bill Randall, discuss the origins of the investigation, the hurdles and obstacles they faced at the time, and how the names of McGwire and Jose Canseco first came up during their investigation. I was part of a New York Daily News sports investigative team that covered the Equine case in a series of stories starting in February, 2005, and the exclusive coverage preceded the infamous congressional hearing on steroids and sports where McGwire and Sosa were both witnesses. Equine netted over 70 convictions, and the goal was never to target users. But the case served as a precursor to what was to become of the sports doping landscape.

The founder and frontman of Princeton Revival, Gregg’s love for music expressed itself at a very early age. Deeply influenced by his father’s jazz vinyl collection, he picked up his first pair of drum sticks at age two and eventually won first place all-state jazz drummer in his home state of New York. After High School Gregg toured as a founding member of His Band with best friend, Bill Randall. His Band played with several acts including Amy Grant and David Meece. Gregg also wrote the #1 CCM single “Father” with Morgan Cryar and “If He Goes Before Me” with Barry Graul—a #2 hit for White Cross. He earned a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Studies from Southern Seminary and served as the Senior Pastor of two churches. He was a founding board member of The Augustine School, a Christian Classical school in West Tennessee, and also served as the Dean of the Emerging Leaders Program in Southwest Florida. Gregg’s burden is that men discover how the Gospel transforms their lives and roles by growing in their knowledge of God through His Word and in community (with a fine cigar and microbrew whenever possible)
