My guest, who is a Dutch citizen talked to me from his space in Romania where it was about 3 p.m. while I sat in Florida in in the morning at a bout 8 a.m. Notwithstanding the time difference, we had an interesting conversation that you would not want to miss. My guest had written somewhere:   “Conformity was an integral part of my upbringing. My father was a military officer, both in his work and at home. Still, I was very different from my fellow students at primary school. I was complying with my father's norms and not with those of my friends or school. I was different in the sense that I always had a short haircut (remember: military coup) and was not allowed to wear jeans. This was hard, especially in the sixties. Also, I wanted to play football, but that was not allowed, I had to play (field) hockey. If I complied in every area of my life (school, gardening, polishing shoes, sports etc.), he would not be angry, then it was sort of okay…This means that from a very young age, I was conditioned to meet the expectations of others (parents, teachers, professors, or bosses). I was conditioned to live someone else's life. To fit in is the holy grail of our society. It is very likely that you also are expected to fit in. Alzheimers is set to become one of the biggest health issues Key Projections: World Health Organization (WHO): Estimates suggest that the number of people living with dementia, including Alzheimer's disease, will reach 65.7 million by 2030. Alzheimer's Association: Projections indicate that the number of Americans age 65 and older with Alzheimer's disease may grow from 6.2 million in 2021 to 8.5 million by 2030. Global Prevalence: By 2030, it is expected that there will be around 76 million people worldwide living with dementia, primarily Alzheimer's disease. These estimates highlight the growing public health challenge posed by Alzheimer's disease as populations age. If the user is nonverbal, Sociavi features a communication board with icons that can be utilized to communicate needs and thoughts. There are also alarms that serve as reminders for medications or tasks, keeping the administrator of the device notified of whether their loved one has turned the alarm off. The only things needed in the home for the Sociavi device are power and internet connectivity.
