Larry has long loved hunting Coues whitetail, known as "The Grey Ghost of the Desert". In this episode Larry talks about hunting the fabulous El Durangueno Ranch in Durango, Mexico's Sierra Madre Mountains. The late and great Jack O'Connor considered the diminutive Coues whitetail subspecies North America's Greatest Game Animal Larry certainly agrees. Larry discusses differences between Coues and "regular" whitetails, hunting techniques, and many more topics, including describing him taking a great buck during the last moments of his hunt. Great information, good stories, and even an invitation to go hunt Coues deer in the future with Larry. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Send us a textGuess what kids?! Your favorite weird ass Hoosier girls are back in your ears. This week we hit up California for our stories. Krys leads off with the Sutro Baths. These were mainstays of San Francisco for years before shockingly taken out by a mysterious fire. Sutro had a tendency to accumulate relics from around the world, sounds like a great idea right? Oh, can someone figure out what land this was built on? Cliff House was next up and that was another problem waiting to happen. And it did. Tori covers the Queen Mary that has been a popular Long Beach attraction at this point. This ship saw it's share of deaths and has ghost tours to this day. This luxury liner made 1001 trips before coming to port for the last time. The Grey Ghost had a more interesting past than expected. Krys rounds the episode off with the San Francisco City Hall. An earthquake managed to take that sucker out. Also proves that when you build on old cemetery, bad things may happen. Boy, it sure has been awhile hasn't it? I am happy to finally share with you all a new episode about a lesser-known encounter with a hulking, terrifying cryptid dubiously named: "The Grey Ghost of Kinchafoonee." In 1955, a young forestry working was out triming rows of overgrown grass in the backcountry of the State of Georgia, when a peculiar sound caught his attention. Curious, he abandoned his duties to investigate and upon entering the nearby woods found he was not alone... Craving more episodes? Dale Earnhardt Jr. welcomes legendary NASCAR Crew Chief Buddy Parrott to the Dirty Mo Media Studio to learn more about the pivotal role he played in some of NASCAR's greatest moments. Growing up in Gastonia, North Carolina, Buddy participated in competitive diving all through high school before finding his way to a race at Birmingham International Raceway on behalf of Huggins Tire Service. Buddy would take a job with the company working as a tire man for their NASCAR events, mounting tires for the entire Cup field on a regular basis. It was through this service that he met the legendary Harry Hyde, and not long after Buddy would approach him for an opportunity to work on his famed K&K Insurance Dodge team. Buddy explains that his time with Harry was invaluable, and he considered him to be his mentor, teaching him everything he knew about race cars and racing setups.Buddy would make the decision to split from the team when Kentuckian Ferrel Harris came to the shop to purchase a racer and some Raymond Fox prepared engines. While working with Harris, Buddy also spent time teaming up with Robert Gee to help prepare his dirt cars, which were chauffeured by none other than Carolina ace Hayward Plyler and a young Dale Earnhardt. Dale Jr. was surprised to learn that Buddy served as crew chief for his father's 1976 Atlanta 500 attempt in a car owned by Johnny Ray, which was famously destroyed in a crash. Buddy would move on to the DiGard Motorsports outfit to team with Darrell Waltrip and take the NASCAR Cup scene by storm in the late 1970s. Listeners can hear all of this, plus more about Buddy's time working on Harry Ranier's Gray Ghost, helping Richard Petty win his 200th win and the 1990 Daytona 500.21+ and present in North Carolina. The USS Edson is a National Historic Landmark and only one of the two surviving Forrest Sherman-class destroyers. Since 2012, the USS Edson DD-946 has been docked along the Saginaw River as the Saginaq Valley Naval Ship Museum. It earned it's nickname, The Grey Ghost of The Vietnamese Coast not because it had ghosts aboard and the story is a wonderful one, but these days, there are real ghosts aboard this haunted ship and Bill Randall, a volunteer who has thousands of tours of the ship for many years, can certainly vouch for that and has lots of stories about happenings to him, and others on the ship during paranormal investigations. Listen in and hear about the sailor who took is own life on the ship, and manysightings of Paul Spampanato, who died of a heart attack suffered aboard the vessel on Thanksgiving in 1999. The USS Edson has lots of stories to tell and Bill Randall is the go-to guy to tell them.
We went on a ghost investigation aboard the iconic Queen Mary with none other than the renowned Grey Ghost Project, and it was quite astonishing. Using the Estes method, which involves blindfolding one member and equipping them with noise-canceling headphones while another member reads out questions from paranormal enthusiasts, we delved into the eerie depths of the ship's haunted history. The results were beyond fascinating as we received direct responses from the blindfolded participant, who seemed to be channeling spirits from beyond. The sense of anticipation and adrenaline running through us during this investigation was off the charts, leaving us buzzing with excitement throughout every twist and turn. This podcast episode is an absolute must-listen for all fans of the supernatural – get ready to have your beliefs challenged and your spine tingled!

We've had Gary's name on our list of people we've wanted to interview for the past three years and finally, the opportunity presented itself and it was worth the wait. From paper trucks to one of the earliest Grey Ghost drivers, Darlo made a name for himself driving these legendary machines for a few fast years before becoming Linehaul Manager for TNT and then branching out on his own. He's also the subject of one of the coolest photos of a Grey Ghost, leaning up against the bulbar like he'd just conquered a road race and even that well known photo has a cracking story behind it. We are indebted to Gary and his family for this interview. JOIN THE BANGERZ CREW www.copysouthbound.com.au

Known as the Grey Ghost, the USS Hornet is one of the most important ships in American military history. More than 300 lives were lost aboard while she was commissioned as an active ship, including, according to some, the highest rate of suicide in the Navy. Today, it's considered the most haunted ship in the Navy. Special Guest: Faye Navarro See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Dry flies looked about the same 100 years ago. Streamers? Things were a little different. We hadn't gotten around to articulated flies that use half a bucktail yet. But we still caught fish. And the flies that were being fished worked. Plus, you could cast them on your regular trout rod. All was well in the world. And it still is. There is no reason why you can't fish a Mickey Finn, Grey Ghost, or Edson Tiger today. In fact, I suggest you do. So much that I recorded a whole podcast on the worthwhile enterprise. The name “Enterprise” is not exclusive to fictional starships or the space shuttle; in fact, nineteen ships of the British Royal Navy and nine of the United States Navy have born the name (spelled either with an S or a Z). Undoubtedly, the most famous USS Enterprise is the World War Two-era aircraft carrier, which fought in more battles in the Pacific War than any other vessel, earned twenty battle stars, and is today the most decorated ship in American naval history. “The Big E,” (first of her many nicknames) was commissioned in May 1938 and attached to the Atlantic fleet for her first year of service. As tensions rose with Japan and the Navy Department realized the importance of aircraft carriers in the Pacific, the Enterprise was transferred to the Pacific Fleet and based first at San Diego and then at Pearl Harbor. Join us as we teach you about the most decorated ship in the history of the US Navy, the USS Enterprise. We talk about her history, engagements, and why she was called, The Grey Ghost. When it comes to the United States Navy, names carry with them the legends of those ships which came before, and history will surely not forget the name Enterprise. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/15minutehistory/support

One of the most critically acclaimed episodes of the highly acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series cartoon was that of The Grey Ghost! The Grey Ghost was voiced by the Batman (1966) actor Adam West and The Grey Ghost was sort of an amalgamation of the character Batman's inspiration of The Shadow. A crime spree in Gotham is reminiscent of an episode of The Grey Ghost TV show, yet, the series has been lost to time and Batman seeks out the man who played the Grey Ghost for help. The series also speaks to a lot of tropes about collector culture in the early 1990s. A great episode!
Batman: The Animated Series See No Evil Lloyd "Eddie" Ventrix is on the verge of losing his daughter, Kimberly (Elisabeth Moss), to his ex-wife, Helen, due to his past as a con artist. Determined not to lose Kimberly, Ventrix dons a suit, stolen from where he used to work while on parole, which grants the user invisibility but also becomes highly toxic and drives him insane. He poses as Kimberly's imaginary friend, Mojo, and planning to abduct her from her mother, while in a crime spree as an invisible robber. Batman must solve the mystery crimes and stop Ventrix, despite the fact that he cannot even see him. Beware the Gray Ghost Simon Trent, an actor best known for his past role as "The Gray Ghost", is on the verge of bankruptcy thanks to his declining career. To save himself, he sells off all of his Gray Ghost merchandise. Immediately afterwards, a series of bombings related to the old show begin to occur. Batman, having himself been inspired partly by the show to become the crimefighter he now is, goes to Trent for help, and they team up to put an end to the crimes, and also revive Trent's career. Prophecy of Doom Batman investigates a cult, called the Brotherhood, founded by the "mystic" Nostromos, after hearing about a number of stories from his colleagues about his ability to predict the future. Batman finds out that Nostromos is actually a con artist who was rigging near-fatal accidents to gain the confidence of Gotham's upper class citizens, and he must expose this ruse before it is too late. Joker's Favor After a man named Charlie Collins curses at the Joker on the road for offensive driving, the Clown Prince of Crime corners him and intimidates him into doing him a "small favor". Two years pass, and the Joker finally decides how to use Charlie: to sneak a bomb into the Peregrinator's Club, where Commissioner Gordon is to give a speech at an award ceremony. Charlie, who merely has to open the door, is sceptical at first, but for the sake of his family, he reluctantly decides to obey. We are joined by Mark Krawczyk, Host of The Spoiler Room podcast. Internationally recognised, the historic floating hotel and museum attracts thousands of visitors every year. It has also attracted a number of unearthly guests over the years. In fact, some say the Queen Mary is one of the most haunted places in the world with as many as 150 known spirits lurking upon the ship. Over the past 60 years, the Queen Mary has been the site of at least 49 reported deaths, not to mention having gone through the terrors of war, so it comes as no surprise that spectral spirits of her vivid past continue to walk within her rooms and hallways. In today's episode we explore some of the history, the grandiosity and the ghostly tales that lurk on this magnificent and historic Grey Ghost. Thank you for listening.
