We were at the premiere of Raymond & Ray at the Toronto International Film Festival to speak to the cast about this tragic but humorous film. The actors were excited to share this film on the big screen. We spoke with Ethan Hawke, Ewan McGregor, Maxim Swinton, composer Jeff Beals, producers Julie Lynn and Bonnie Curtis, and the writer/director of the film Rodrigo García. Hawke gets a little sentimental talking about what it was like working with actors he has known for over two decades and how excited he is for him and McGregor, who he says both have "great roles." Hawke talked about how relatable this film is because most of us have had to deal with real-life trauma or death, and he hopes people walk away from this film feeling a little less alone. McGregor also spoke about a "kindred spirit" between him and Hawke and what it was like shooting this intense but funny film. McGregor is excited for the world to see it and remember how precious life is. Host: Monica Gleberman Editor: Miranda Currier Social Media Graphic: Jojo -- Synopsis: “Raymond & Ray” follows half-brothers Raymond and Ray who have lived in the shadow of a terrible father. Somehow, they still each have a sense of humor, and his funeral is a chance for them to reinvent themselves. There's anger, there's pain, there's folly, there might be love, and there's definitely gravedigging. *Raymond & Ray will be screening all week at TIFF check out the schedule below, so make sure you head over to the website and purchase tickets: Monday, September 12th at 6:00 PM at Roy Thomson Hall, Tuesday, September 13th at 9:05 AM at Scotiabank 2, Saturday, September 17th at 9:00 AM at TIFF Bell Lightbox Cinema 1 Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @SilenceonSet and Instagram @SilenceonSetPod

Julie Lynn formed Mockingbird Pictures in 1999, with Bonnie Curtis joining in 2012 after more than 15 years working with Steven Spielberg. They have produced for brand-new filmmakers as well as experienced, award-winning directors. Julie worked as a First Amendment lawyer before embarking on a film career as a creative executive for producer Mark Johnson.. They first partnered under the Mockingbird Pictures banner after producing the Academy Award®-nominated Albert Nobbs in 2012. They are still thinking about what non-profit work they are going to cook up together after they retire from filmmaking … but they are hopeful that day is still many years away. They are most proud of all the “repeat customers” amongst their collaborators, as well as the fact that they were able to successfully take their families on a joint vacation, because they clearly don't see enough of each other at work. This week, Bonnie and Julie shine on light on: Creating a producer's group Putting trust in your filmmakers How their unique partnership functions

We recently chatted with Composer Jon Ekstrand who is a long time collaborator with Director Daniel Espinosa about his work on the sci-fi thriller film LIFE. This marks his sixth project with Espinosa, having previously composed music for his films Babylonsjukan, Outside Love, Snabba Cash, and Child 44, and the Danish short film The Boxer, which was his first work as a composer. Life stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds, Ariyon Bakare, Olga Dihovichnaya, and Hiroyuki Sanada and it revolves around the six-member crew of the International Space Station as they come into contact with the very first evidence of biological life on Mars: a small, single-celled organism. As they begin to research the specimen, however, this “life” proves far more dangerous than they could have ever imagined. Life was written by Deadpool’s Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese and produced by Skydance’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg along with Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn.
