The Houston Police Department received a 911 call in the early morning hours of July 29th, 2016, from a very calm 16-year-old. AJ Armstrong told the dispatcher that he'd heard gunshots in his parents' room downstairs and that he was now hiding in the closet of his third floor bedroom. When officers arrived, they found AJ's mother, Dawn, dead in her bed, from two gunshot wounds to the head. AJ's father, Antonio, had also suffered a gunshot wound to the head, but was clinging to life. Both AJ and his 12-year-old sister were unharmed. Less than 24 hours later, AJ was charged with the capital murder of both of his parents. Was he responsible for their brutal slayings, or had a masked intruder really just gotten THAT lucky to get away with a double murder? Last week Ryan had 20 presentations to over 9,000 students. He knows not every student will listen, but even if it impacts one, it was worth. Both AJ and Ryan's have been speaking more and share on that experience.

This week AJ and Tara review "Missing in Death," the novella that was originally part of the "The Lost" anthology. Both AJ and Tara, for whatever reason, liked this story a lot more this time around. Since most of the novellas up to this point have had some sort of supernatural element, you expect that here, and it does seem like it's headed that way, but in the end, it's not at all supernatural. There's a lot of fun moments with Eve and Peabody, especially Peabody getting hit on and Eve being a sarcastic bitch about that. Which we both really enjoy. There's a bit of continuing HSO controversy in this one, but it's resolved quickly. Also, there is a bit of a controversial ending.
Another Sunday, another episode of the Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast in the bag. This time, with very special guest, Kelsey! I'm writing this several days after the first viewing of the episode and only one day after re-watching it a second time. This episode definitely seemed longer compared to the first episode of the season. We mentioned that Din Djarin is given a quest by The Armorer. Here we are in episode two and he's achieved all of his quest goals. Item one. Secure a droid with atmospheric sensors. Item two. Bathe in the Living Waters in the Mine of Mandalore so he can be redeemed from his status as an apostate. Both AJ and I were expecting this to be dragged out much longer but, the creators were able to keep it focused and wrap up the quest in this episode. What's interesting is their decision to involve Bo Katan. I admit. I did not know anything about Bo Katan prior to her debut in season two. I know she's a very popular character from The Clone Wars series and that's it. Even then, I think I only found that out because people talked about it YouTube. Both my brother Mike and AJ speak very highly about the show so I will have to check it out at some point. Overall, we thought this was a great episode. It's very dark and moody. It also highlights how much of a badass Bo Katan is. She's much more perceptive and and skilled than Din Djarin. We'll have to see how her involvement in the story plays out over future episodes. The fans seemed to like her and though she's lost all her clan, the writers found a way to keep her involved in Din and Grogu's story. The other thing we enjoyed was the jump scare. While not as starting the second time around, the creature design really stands out. Not sure if character designers plagiarized Warhammer 40k but, AJ and I could definitely see what looks very much like a Necron Canoptek Spyder. There's no fooling nerds like us. I have to thank AJ for introducing me to the Warhammer 40k universe. He let me borrow his copy of Warhammer 40k Dawn of War on PC and the rest was history. Fast forward to the release of Dawn of War Dark Crusade and the introduction of the Necron as a playable faction. While the Canoptek Spyder hovers rather than use it's limbs it's still a terrifying presence on the battlefield since they were a heavy melee unit if memory serves. They were also fast which was helpful compared to the rest of the Necron which move with a slow deliberate lumber. I'll post another picture on twitter. Even the design of this creatures head is similar with multiple red sensors. Even if it was copied from a different sci-fi universe, the cyborg limbs also called back to General Grievous. Grievous's race are knows as Kaleesh. His species looks very different from his metal faceplate yet somewhat similar to the combat masks they wear. Similar to Grievous, it also had some sort of modularity to it's design. The head detached from the body which detached from the Canoptek Spyder which could also independently operate the Spyder without the rest of the exoskelton. That was really cool! I'll have to watch some more of Ryan Eary's Spoiler/Easter Egg breakdown on the series to find out what this thing is because I've never seen anything like in and movie, game or comic I've read. Overall, a very interesting episode that I'm learning was much more impactful if you've seen the show Clone Wars. I haven't. Shame on me. However, I think with some of the flashbacks of the fusion bombing of the planet help emphasize how devasting to the bombardment was to the planet and also to The Mandalorians as a people. Thanks for listening and watching. -Luca Tweet us @SWRewatchPod on Twitter Subscribe to us on YouTube Subscribe on Apple Podcasts Subscribe on Spotify Email us at StarWarsRewatchPodcast@gmail.com

The CoEds chat about the recent Sixers win and the upcoming anticipation of another Eagles game. Not only did the 49ers fans try to "takeover" Philly today, they clearly are ignorant of the result of draping the Rocky statue with their teams jersey. NOT A GOOD IDEA. Both AJ and Eddie discuss their worries, fears and predictions for tomorrow's matchup. Plus, they discuss the Phillies briefly with Pitchers and Catchers coming in February. In this episode, we recorded this during Thanksgiving week here in the United States, and every American knows that the Friday after Thanksgiving is always "Black Friday," which is the worst (or best) retail day of the year, depending on your perspective. Both AJ and Tara hate shopping, so we say "Black Friday" is generally the worst day of the year. BUT...we're here to talk about all of our favorite "retail" moments in the "In Death" series. It's no surprise to us that most people say that their favorite moments are all the times that Eve buys something after telling Peabody not to shop. Most people's second favorite moments are all the moments with Tiko! It's funny, though, and it shows that even though Eve hates shopping for herself, it's super easy for her to buy stuff for other people. Because, contrary to what we hear from reviewers, Eve has a HUGE heart, and grows as a character. Many other retail moments are discussed on this episode, too. Enjoy!

Talking about the break out performances of a certain head coach down in Florida, a running back in NY and the two teams in AFC who have everyone talking. And in surprise fashion, Channing makes an apology about doubting a player who proved him wrong for sure...this may be the first time in 20 years Channing has said "I'm sorry"! The guys also sit down with AJ Terrell and Kyle Pitts of the Atlanta Falcons on the road and talk about this upcoming season and what the Falcons need to do to return atop the NFC South. Channing challenges Kyle on being more active as a tight end and his blocking while Ryan commends AJ on being one of the top DBs in the game. Both AJ and Kyle are very optimistic about the season, new coaches, young talent and most importantly leadership in the locker room which they feel will get them back to their winning ways. Both AJ and Eli speak about their dedication to volunteering in the community and their success in athletics. AJ shares his future plans to become a Pediatric Oncologist (don't worry, AJ explains what that is!) and Eli shares his plans to study information sciences! On today's special recap episode, Rory and AJ get together to discuss his interview with Tom Ziglar, son of the legendary Zig Ziglar. Rory and AJ each share their top three takeaways from the interview and unpack the nuances of each point. AJ reflects on an old Zig Ziglar quote that Tom brought up, namely “If you pursue a standard of living you will likely never have a better quality of life, but if you pursue a better quality of life the standard of living will always go up”. They discuss how the words still ring true today and how it has made them evaluate their motivations. Both AJ and Rory were moved by Tom's wise insight that his skills are very different from those of his father and how that acceptance was able to allow him to embrace his own unique skills and strengths. Join us for a meditative recap on lessons from Tom Ziglar on what gives life meaning, how to be true to yourself, and much more!
What's that ringing? McCall is having problems with her ears but won't listen to AJ when it comes to help. Have you ever continued to look for something after you found it in the first place you looked for it? It's a regular occurrence for McCall apparently. Both AJ & McCall will be taking vacations to Mexico this year, but what will Producer Butterz do? Prepare for a whole breakdown of pizza geography!

This week, we talk about Fan Fiction, and we are super excited about it! We love fan fiction! We start out talking about our own histories where Fan Fiction is concerned. Turns out, we all three started writing fanfic at a very young age! Tara was writing Beatles/Sherlock Holmes "shipping" fanfic, AJ started out writing "Starsky and Hutch" fanfic, and Jen started out writing fanfic for "Battlestar Galactica." Then AJ goes slightly off topic to give everyone a short lesson on how "The Bee Gees" started performing together. We talk about some of the fanfics that we had on "In Death Dot Net" back in the day, and the rules we had on that site, and why we had the rules. But, occasionally, someone would break the rules and that ultimately prompted Nora to ask us to stop publishing fanfic on the site. Even though, as we predicted at the time, people just went elsewhere and continued to write their fanfics. In the fanfic community at large, there is a large question as to whether or not it's okay to pull an "E.L. James" and publish your fanfic for profit. Some say it's never okay to do that, others say that it's okay as long as you repurpose it. Several people have done this, including: We express our frustration with people who want to write new fanfic stories about Eve and Roarke's children. Not that we're against that, but if we read fanfics about Eve and Roarke's kids, we want the story to also still be about Eve and Roarke and how they are navigating parenthood. Also, in reviewing fanfic, try to be constructive and not harp on petty bullshit like minor grammar or spelling issues. Both AJ and Jen have posted some fanfic on AO3 if you care to read it here: https://archiveofourown.org/users/AJRyan6of7 https://archiveofourown.org/users/JenT4 A link to Tara's fanfics may follow later. We also attempt to answer the question of "What is Roarke's First Name? Now here is your chance to contribute to the "In Death" Fan Fiction Community and help us write an "In Death" FanFic! AJ, Jen and Tara have decided to write a new fan fic based on suggestions by you, the listeners of "Podcast in Death!" Give us your suggestions as to what we should write! Reply below, contact us on Instagram or Twitter, call us, however you want to contact us, and give us your fanfic suggestions! We look forward to hearing from you!
NOTE: Something went terribly wrong with AJ's mic. She fixed it as best as she could, but it still sounds weird, s0...sorry! Sorry if these show notes are brief, everyone! Both AJ and Tara left on road trips on Thursday, and Jen is spending some quality time with her feet up binging some of her favorite shows! But...Here we go... This week we review Holiday in Death by J.D. Robb, and we have to be honest with all of you, none of us were feeling it, and we're not sure why. We do love the parts where Eve and Roarke are trying to figure out how to do Christmas. Roarke, as usual, goes overboard. Eve, as usual, is irritated by the whole business because she hasn't had a proper Christmas ever. This book is essentially about GIFTS! We love that Eve keeps telling Peabody not to shop, then Eve ends up buying a gift for someone else on her list. Peabody marched up just as Eve was accepting the festive red and silver bag. "You shopped," she said accusingly. "No, I bought. There's a difference." We found out that many of you listeners are like Eve when it comes to shopping, and we all are too, though, Tara does lean a little in the Peabody shopping crew. Peabody is really put through the ringer in this book, not only with her date with the creep who assaulted her, but then Eve's getting pissy when Peabody brings Charles to the Christmas party, and Peabody has to tell Eve to mind her own business. THEN, Peabody gets assaulted by the killer! But even though Peabody's been through so much, we felt it was kind of swept to the side, and that's not cool, man. Eve is very much on the edge with this one as well. Something about the nature of the crimes and the weird Piper/Rudy relationship had her looking in the wrong direction, then she's pissed that she missed major clues. THEN, when the bad guy assaults Peabody, Eve is literally contemplating murder herself. The ending seems off for all of us, and we're kind of happy we're finished with it. Sorry to all of you who love this one. We also talk about how each of us feels about Christmas. Jen recalls an old argument on one of the Nora forums years ago about a mistake that was made in this book. That had us going off topic about how weird fandoms can get, and we talk about that weird time when someone on the In Death Dot Net forums reported AJ to the FBI!

It all started with Tom Brady wandering in to the wrong house, but everyone has gone in the wrong place right? Both AJ & McCall have gotten in to the wrong car, but who was the silliest for the Debate At 8? As much as a mistake as that was, it can't be as embarrassing as sending the wrong the text. AJ & McCall have quite the story of an accidental test, but really it's all the lady pants industry's fault.

The AJ & McCall Show is just about the only thing not cancelled, but perhaps it'll be a complaint that takes it down. Both AJ & McCall have to go grocery shopping today but are very concerned about how much of a struggle it'll be. The only bracket in 2020 is the March of Illness and a neighbor may in fact win. The key to a successful Facebook Marketplace sale is the ability to haggle. What do you need and how long could you last for a quarantine for the Debate At 8? How does AJ entertain a visiting friend with everything being cancelled? Why would England punish a kid that's clearly an entrepreneur? Which parking spot is the most annoying in this week's Park Narcs?

Giving a stranger your social media or phone number, which would be less worse? 2020 is bringing some weird energy. Always remember the next time you stick your foot in your mouth at least you didn't cost your family $10,000.

Well some lady licked a carton of ice cream and then returned it but it goes oh so worse. It's the week of the fourth of July so what are your traditions? McCall is doing something new and AJ is keeping his, but it's not a good thing for the Debate At 8. Both AJ & McCall are traveling for the week so what snack is the best to road trip with? AJ Trexler is a voice actor and friend of Fernando. Both AJ and host Ana Fernatt move to LA from Chicago. In this episode, we talk about what that midwest to west coast transition is like, the benefits of living in the Valley and finding your niche...even if it's different from what you set out to do. No, it is not your eyes playing tricks on you. This expertly edited photo is in fact of two people who are not in the same room. First, I forgot after recording. And then, I celebrated my birthday the night before we scheduled to take a photo together. About The Show: LA is a city of 4 million spread over 503 miles, 114 neighborhoods and can take over an hour to get from one side to the other. With that many people bumping up against each other, how is it possible to feel alone and isolated. It's a city of paradox: dreams and heartbreak. Lifelong locals and those just coming in for a shot. Each week, I sit down with a Los Angeles resident to connect. Talk about our live and what got us to where we are today. Talking. What does it mean for two people to get to know each other? It's also a show about connection in the larger sense, because each guest introduces me to the following week's guest. And as the weeks progress, it'll filter up a chain of people who can all be linked back to each other through who they know. That person we pass in the street, get behind at the grocery store, sit next to at the bar. They are all more connected to us than we may realize at first glance. A couple handshakes away...or, for the bold, maybe just one. I'm Ana Fernatt and I don't know anyone in LA. But...now I know you. How in the heck is McCall going to celebrate a six year anniversary on a budget? Maybe she should bust out the ukulele once again and right a heart felt song. AJ got a text about Fourth of July, less than two weeks out, from the family member that always tries to come up with plans with impossibly short notice. Both AJ & McCall will be gone for Independence Day and AJ will be driving through Montana again, but he's upset with that state because the truck he hit has been stuck in a shop because the shop closed for 10 days for a hunting trip. Producer Butterz is having a problem with road signs and his neighbors, maybe he should start a Home Owner's Association. Also, what did everyone think of the company cake we had yesterday?

Even though the AJ & McCall message has been do you and be nice, there's be so many crazies that it's been hard not to get frustrated. Luckily, McCall has a tip to help us stay calm during the holidays which will be put to the test today. Our front office ladies do amazing, fun things for us ahead of the holidays and deserve a huge shout out, especially because they help us avoid things like a Secret Santa debacle. Could you imagine being a person asking for more gifts from a co-worker and then asking for something well over the limit? Oh, and it gets worse from there! Why is it that such a joyous time that is about the thought and not the things brings out the worst in people? Both AJ & McCall have their share of gift giving headaches for the Debate At 8 and wonder if they're the only ones. Congratulations again to the Aggies on winning their bowl game and today we're going to invent our own.
AJ is back from Thanksgiving weekend, a day late, but he's back. When you travel you have to come up with those sleeping arrangements and normally are excited to come back to your bed BUT what is better; your bed or a hotel bed? AJ is a day late because his car broke down but is lucky he didn't break down at any of the miles of no where he drove through, and McCall says she's lucky with her break down story also. Both AJ & McCall were feeling lousy this weekend and the weather was cold and all they can think about is comfort food, the food that picks them up no matter what. AJ can't get Chinese food out of his head and McCall just wants some soup, but what's your comfort food? Have you started holiday shopping yet? Those presents you got, when will you give them to the person? Is it a hard line around Christmas or is there some leeway for the Debate At 8? Snow has flirted with being in the forecast this week, but we may get lucky and miss it. That being said, we know snow will be coming to Utah so when do you accept it coming? Is it even possible to take a good ID photo? Both AJ & McCall say there is absolutely no way to get a good one for an official ID. Have you decorated for Halloween yet? Do you go with scary, which AJ says is the whole point, or nice and inviting? McCall doesn't want to be scared and only wants to decorate for fall for the Debate At 8. It's Friday and we're all ready for the weekend, so what's taking up space in your brain? What do you want removed so you can have the space back? Everyone loves the feeling of finding money, but do you hide it in the first place? McCall doesn't get why anyone would have hiding spots for their cash in the Debate At 8. AJ & McCall Drop the Mic on moving. Both AJ & McCall have made big moves in their lives that they consider key to where they're at right now and the success they've had. One of the first Drop the Mic podcasts was on Taking Risks and this sort of a sequel. One of them even had a move 'blow it up' in their faces and still considered it an extremely memorable experience that was positive. Why do AJ & McCall think you should move and take those risks? Is their fluidity something common among friends and family?
