While it has been a year for our hero Andor, it has been almost two or more for our beloved co-host AJ. We have him setup to record remotely now and hopefully that will mean we get to hear his opinion on the latest from Disney star wars intellectual properties. Speaking of, we all just re-watched Andor. By far the most anticipated Star Wars show to return to the digital steaming platform, Andor once again depicts the series of events that lead up to the theatrical debut of the character in rogue one. my goodness, did Disney spend a lot of money on the sets for this season! Everything you see, looks like it's right in front of the camera. Not that there were not any digital effects to fill in the gaps but, the series continues to put an impeccable shine and levels of grit and dirt where needed to get the audience to feel what the characters are feeling in a given moment. Initially, I was not a big fan of this episode. Yes, the action with the tie advanced was very cool, lots of explosions, Michael Bay etc. however, the story line with Maya Pei brigade that take Andor hostage did not do much for me. I just found their immature bickering to be annoying and it took me out of the story. Their dialog did not seem to match Star Wars, if that makes sense. Even though I did not appreciate these scenes as much, that meant I got to appreciate the scenes with Luthen, Mon Mothma, Vel, Bix, Brasso and the rest of the cast who returned for the second season. Speaking of returning characters, Dedra is back! As evil as she is under the surface it a fascinating to see how she moves about her environment and how she thinks. She has a job to do and if she were on the other side of the war she might be even more fanatical than Saw Guerrera. Scenes with her and Major Partagaz and other imperials were some of the best. especially for the first episode of the series. You see how casually the empire discussing committing #genocide to achieve their goals all while calculating how they are going to manipulate public opinion. It is pure evil but, they discuss it like it is a normal business meeting and they have do what their client wants and manage the outcome. Welcome back, you bloody space pirates! Thank you for tuning in to another episode of the Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast. This episode is a bit out of order—I meant to edit the previous one first, but here I am working on Episode III. Not a big deal! I'll try not to spoil my thoughts on the last episode as we dive into this exciting continuation of the story. At this point, the children are lost in space. SM-33 navigates them to their port of origin, which turns out to be a bustling pirate base hidden within an asteroid. Unfortunately, the children find themselves captured and must figure out a way to escape. Luckily, they gain an unexpected ally—another prisoner! Here we're introduced to Jod Na Nawood, a Force-wielding “Jedi.” While Whim is ecstatic to meet a Jedi in real life, Fern and KB are skeptical of Jod's claims. Despite their doubts, they strike a deal to help one another. The pirates are ultimately foiled, but not before the children convince Jod to rescue SM-33 before making their daring escape. They jump to lightspeed while still tethered to a fuel line—talk about close calls! Jod, Fern, Neel, KB, and SM-33 escape Port Borgo and head to meet Jod's associate, Kh'ymm. This encounter raises more questions about Jod's true identity. Kh'ymm refers to him as Crimson Jack, marking his third alias so far (the pirates had called him Silvo). Kh'ymm aids the group by deciphering symbols from Fern's backpack to locate At Attin. However, Jod immediately realizes that Kh'ymm has alerted the New Republic. As the kids negotiate yet another deal with Jod to ensure their safe return home, X-wings arrive near the observatory and open fire on their ship. This episode deepens the mystery surrounding At Attin, a legendary location tied to the Old Republic. Generations have passed without anyone from the Republic or Empire reaching it, as the so-called “barrier” obscures it and makes navigation nearly impossible. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Kh'ymm's knowledge of At Attin and its connection to other “jewels of the Republic” was fascinating. I hope you found it just as intriguing! Thank you for listening or watching! Welcome back you filthy space pirates! It is another episode of the Star Wars Re-Watch podcast. Thank you for joining us. My brother Mike was kind enough to lend his time for two episodes back to back. It is also here we are introduced to whom will be my favorite character in the series moving forward, SM 33. Yet again we have another Star Wars property where an actor portraying a droid steals the spotlight from the rest of the cast. I had no idea Nick Frost was doing the voice of SM 33. He is that good. Fern is able to confuse his logic circuits and convince him, she is now the captain and to bring them back home. Unfortunately, he has no record of where they were and instead astrogates them to Port Borgo. It is here we run into the pirates from the cold open that attacked the New Republic. The children arrive and are ferried by a creature I am fairly certain is native to Endor. anyone else remember Teek? After the children are eventually captured, the are thrown into a prison cell with a mysterious force wielder. While they are away, their parents are scrambling to get help from the supervisor. The droids are not very helpful and continue to stall and simply explain they have violated protocol and there is not aloud to call for help beyond the barrier. Fern's mother tries to expedite by requesting an audience with the supervisor but, delays persist. This was another cute episode. I really enjoyed Nick Frost's performance as SM 33. Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast: Skeleton Crew – Episode I"This Could Be a Real Adventure" Fans, friends, and Tia Laura, thank you for tuning in to another episode of the Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast! Yes, it still counts, even if you're on auto-play. Thanks again, Tia Laura! Sydney and I just re-watched Disney's latest Star Wars TV show, "Skeleton Crew." I have to admit—I was skeptical. The trailers didn't grab me at first glance. But wow, was I wrong! This show has far more charm than it initially lets on. As I get older, I'm finding myself more open to Disney's fresh takes on Star Wars. At first, the concept of a group of kids being shepherded across the galaxy by an adult didn't appeal to me. But Jude Law's portrayal of the lead character, paired with the kids' unique dynamics, truly works. Compared to other live-action Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew feels like a departure. Yes, the focus on kids might seem off-putting at first, but don't let it fool you. Each child has a distinct personality, and even though their archetypes are familiar, they bring something special. Neel, for example, is adorable in his red overalls, and Fern stands out as the "tough girl" while maintaining depth and complexity. Fern balances her “perfect student” persona with a rebellious streak. She's the top of her class but also races speeder bikes with the older kids. This duality gives her character a rich, relatable edge that feels fresh in the Star Wars universe. The first episode leaves you hooked, eager for what's next. Whether we cover The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew, or Visions in our next podcast, who knows? There are no rules in podcasting—we'll dive into whatever we want! Thanks for listening!– Luca

Howdy, spacefarers! Thanks for tuning into another episode of the Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast. I'm here with my co-host, my awesome brother Michael! Since we didn't publish last month, we're bringing you a second episode this month! In this episode, the mystery intensifies. We know Mae has four targets to eliminate. Last episode, Andara met her end. Now, we learn about Master Torbin, one of the guilty. Vernestra orders Sol, Jecki, and Yord to investigate the assailant on Olega and take Osha with them. Yord is suspicious, thinking Mae isn't acting alone, and he's right. Someone else is impersonating the apothecary. What could push a Jedi like Torbin to take the Barash Vow? Despite resisting Mae's physical attacks, Torbin willingly takes poison, ending his life. What could drive a Jedi to such an act? Does their essence live on? Can they still communicate with other Jedi, like Obi-Wan and Yoda with Luke? Isn't suicide a grave sin for Jedi? The Jedi catch up with Mae, trying to bring her in. Here, Mae discovers Osha is alive, and Osha learns the same about Mae. Osha decides not to stun her sister. Why? Could it be that Osha wanted to show Mae she's different from the Jedi and didn't want to harm her? It's a puzzling move, especially when trying to prove innocence. Thanks for listening/watching! Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast The Acolyte S1 E1 Lost/Found

Howdy, spacefarers! Apologies for the delay in posting—September got away from me. My goal is to publish at least once a month, but life had other plans. Luckily, I convinced the wonderful Sydney to join me and share her thoughts on the latest addition to the Star Wars Disneyverse! It's been a while since The Acolyte aired its last episode. By now, you probably know the show was canceled. If I had recorded this earlier, that news might have been a surprise. However, given the backlash, it's not shocking. At the time of writing, the show holds a 4.1 on IMDb, and the fan and critic ratings on Metacritic are split—3.2 from fans and 67 from critics. Despite the negative press, I urge you to watch The Acolyte and form your own opinion. If you don't like it, let me know why! That's more than my co-host, AJ, who hasn't even watched the show but still decided it sucked. What's he basing that on? Probably all the controversy surrounding the creator and the show's lukewarm reception. At least give it a chance and see for yourself rather than relying on hearsay. Rewatching the first episode, I noticed a lot of foreshadowing I missed the first time around. For example, Mae's black eyes really creeped me out during the second watch. Also, it's fascinating to see how the creators attempted to expand the Star Wars universe just 100 years before The Phantom Menace. Unfortunately, many elements feel familiar, such as the Neimoidians on the cargo ship where Osha, our protagonist, works as a mechanic. Of course, more CGI shots of Coruscant were included—because what Star Wars property would be complete without it? As much as I understand that Coruscant is central to the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Temple, I wish Disney didn't stick to their 80/20 formula for Star Wars. It means we're seeing a lot of the same things to keep fans happy. This “safe” approach has been a critique since The Force Awakens—where a young, poor individual from a desert planet embarks on a journey, hops on the Millennium Falcon, meets Han Solo and Chewbacca, and destroys a giant space station. We've seen this before! While there are new characters, there's still so much unexplored in the Star Wars universe, including planets and biomes that deserve screen time. Sigh... I guess we should be thankful we're still getting new Star Wars movies, shows, and content. You don't always get what you love, but sometimes, you've got to love what you get. Howdy friends! Another episode in the bag. Of course, my lovely brother was kind enough to grace me with his presence. This episode was mid. Not terrible, not great. You can definitely see the writers are beginning to drag out some of the plotlines. Yes, this does help create more mystery. However, it annoyed me more than it intrigued me. You have Osha and Mae. One is trained as a Jedi but doesn't make it. The other is trained by something. Is "The Stranger" (Qimir) a Sith or an Acolyte? What is an Acolyte? Not sure if we're going to find the answer. This episode is broken up into thirds. Osha and Mae have swapped places. Mae, disguised as Osha, is now with Sol. Osha, disguised as Mae, is taken by Qimir aka "The Stranger" (according to Wookiepedia) and is now on an "unknown planet." Master Vernestra leaves Coruscant with another cohort of Jedi to find Sol and his team, who were supposed to bring in Mae. All the while, Sol and Mae are onboard the ship with the tracker. Shortly after they take off, Mae has the opportunity to kill Sol, but he eventually discovers her. He then binds her, and they jump to hyperspace and return to Brendok. At the same time, Master Vernestra arrives at Khofar. She begins to unravel what happened here. We don't really learn much in this episode. The best parts were with Osha and Qimir. We learn why his armor could temporarily nullify a lightsaber. Other than that, we ended pretty much as we started. I'm distracted, so I'll stop rambling. -Luca Connect with Us: Join us on Discord Tweet us @SWRewatchPod on Twitter Subscribe on YouTube Subscribe on Apple Podcasts Subscribe on Spotify #Podcast #Rewatch #StarWars #EpisodeVI #TeachOrCorrupt #Mystery #Jedi #Sith #Osha #Mae #Qimir #TheStranger #Wookiepedia #Vernestra #Coruscant #Brendok #Khofar

Howdy spacefarers. Thanks for tuning into another episode of the star wars re-watch podcast. once again, we are doing things out of order. That being said, I think the episodes we have covered have been the best episodes of the series so far. A lot happens in this one. Friends become enemies, enemies become friends. There is also a lot of action too. While that might not make up for the show's shortcomings, my dumb chimp brain loves it. My brother also tends to agree as you will hear. I am continuing to avoid any other reviews or critiques of the acolyte until after the full run of episodes has aired. I want to avoid any infringement on anyone else's opinions until i have fully taken in what is on offer. This episode definitely made some bold choices. I also learned that actress Dafne Keen is in the show! I loved her as Wolverine's daughter in Logan. While my buddy Tyler said all she did was scream for for two hours. In this series we get to see her character Jecki forge a friendship with Osha. At this point I don't want to say anymore because if I do I feel I would only spoil the lightsaber fights that take place. What I can say is the combat is super flashy. Definitely punching above their weight for a tv show. The only scene in Ahsoka that even comes close was the one with Hayden Christensen. Even the final fight with Morgan Elsbeth lags behind the fights from this one episode. I'll leave it at that. Re-watch Podcast Episode IV Day Howdy my fellow spacefarers! Thanks for being patient while we take our time getting these episodes out. I appreciate all 22 subscribers we have on Youtube and the many more we have on Spotify, Apple podcasts, and whichever podcast app you choose. we are doing things out of things a little out of order here. why? well, there are no rules when it comes to podcasting. Also, by far, episode four of the Acolyte has been the best. Overall, I think the series is beginning to pick up speed. Before you ask, yes, we will go back and record episodes for the past episodes we missed. I have been avoided any other content/media out there so as not to poison my opinion. Through the cracks in reddit, I have managed to see some overwhelmingly negative opinions posted and also some very strong evidence countering those negative opinions. More than the characters, dialog, setting, etc, I am enjoying the sense of mystery the show conveys. It makes you wonder who is telling the truth. Is is the jedi? Is it Mae? Sol? Qimir? We will have to watch and see. Of course the standout moment in this episode is the reveal of the dark warrior with the red lightsaber to the Jedi. What an entrance! It was a definitely a super villain introduction for the character. Reminiscent of Ian McKellan's Magneto in X-Men franchise. Very interesting design too. Not only to obscure the identity but, the jagged teeth look very threatening. I will leave it at that but, am very much looking forward to the next episode as well as going back to the previous ones to do a deeper dive and find any hidden details. Wow. This episode was tough on production. Was it fun to sit down and record with my brother? Of course it was. Was it fun to edit out all the times the video went black during recording? No it was not. Ahsoka is finally over! Some might be happy about this. Others not so much. I can see exactly why either side feels that way. Now that I have made it to season five of Clone Wars, I can see the changes in Ahsoka's character development the creators made along the way. No longer is she the hot-headed apprentice of Anakin Skywalker. Now she is growing into her own as a padawan with her own opinions on the war and how the jedi order perpetuates the conflict rather than end it. You really begin to see her opinion change in the four episode arc on the planet Onderon. Here, the jedi decide to support and insurgency of locals rather than commit the precious resources of the galactic navy to liberate Onderon. The show makes the brave move and even uses the word "terrorism" to describe the actions of the "rebels." Obviously Anakin fully supports the idea of the terrorism to liberate Onderon. Yoda and other members of the Jedi Council obviously strike down the notion and instead decide to supply the resistance with only weapons which only target droids rather than the civilian population. Ahsoka is alone and feels uneasy about her position. She's alone without her master or his master to confide in. In addition, there are hints of romance between her and the ex-separatist. All of these confusing feelings bubbling under the surface for the celibate warrior monk. Do we see any conflict like this in Ahsoka? Of course not. I will link to a video I watched where they describe Dave Filoni as a fraud. Bottom line, I agree with several sentiments the presenter makes. Ahsoka is best if you've seen all of Clone Wars and all of Rebels. It makes no attempt to make the series friendly to a viewer whom has seen none of Ahsoka's previous outings. They also compare all other recent Star Wars shows to Andor. At one point in the video they say Andor worked so well because the without the star wars setting it would still make sense and be a compelling story. Ahsoka, Boba Fett, Obi-Wan etc all rely too heavily on established characters and backstories to they don't end up taking any risks. Andor does not have to worry about anyone's backstory and makes the smart decision to forge their own path without having to rely on fan service. Over all, this episode and Ahsoka as a whole were just ok. What were your thoughts on the show? Did you love it or hate it? In my opinion, the opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. After watching seasons one and two or The Mandalorian that's exactly how I felt. I did not watch Boba Fett until after having watched season three of The Mandalorian. Only then did I realize the error of my ways and find out I had missed out on important story bits which didn't make sense going into season three cold. Re-watch Podcast Ahsoka Part Five Shadow Warrior Here we are recording the podcast episode we were supposed to have recorded in the first place. I admit, I fucked up. Whoops. Moving on. Despite my mistake, I am grateful for having re-watched this episode. Mostly because of Hayden Christensen's reprisal as Anakin. I said it during the episode and I'll say it here, my man still has the moves. It did not look like the they used a stunt double at all! Compare Christensen's performance to Ewan McGregor's. Granted, there is an age gap between the two. It does not change the fact that McGregor looked tired on screen and even though Anakin is dead, Christensen looked alive playing him. Unfortunately, while his performance stood out, young Ahsoka's did not. Nothing against Arianna Greenblatt. As I'm writing this, I see that she played Sasha in the Barbie movie. She was great in that as the snot nosed daughter. While she kinda acts lack a brat in this episode, it's more likely a reaction to the dialog she's being paid to recite. While Hayden Christensen looks good on screen, his delivery of the awful lines written for him were not much better. For many of us, Star Wars is the only film any of us have seen him in. Many more would also agree his delivery of George Lucas's poorly written lines did not help either. This episode was alright. It's not great. Nor is it terrible. If it was not obvious that the star whales would be used to jump to hyperspace to follow Morgan and her goons to Peridea, then you must have been watching a different show. Re-Watch Podcast Ahsoka Part vi Far, Far Away As I write this I am re-watching part VI of Ahsoka. Upon further reflection, I realize we recorded the wrong episode first. The last episode published for Ahsoka were parts III and IV. Sydney and I just recorded part VI for some reason. Needless to say, we'll have to record another episode in the not too distant future or I can delay posting this one until a few days after the next one is published. I forgot to take notes and cannot remember the exact order of events. Whether I remember all of it or not, it was still a very good episode. You'll hear which part as I'm sure it was favorite part of the episode as well. I think for the most part we followed the events of the episode as they occurred. It's interesting to see when Morgan, and her goons arrive at the Night Sister temple, the great mothers are waiting for her at yet another star map. I wonder if the maps are an important part of Dathomiri culture or just a macguffin for plot convenience. We briefly touch on the motivations of Baylan Skoll. We know he survived the purges of Order 66. However, there is no love lost between him, the Old Republic, the Jedi Order, nor the Empire. While he does mention to Shin he's trying to break the cycle of history, it begs the question why try to help the Imperial Remnant? Didn't the empire just lose the war? Yes, Thrawn is their best hope for having any effect on the New Republic strained as they may be. Very curious to see how Skoll's story plays out. Same goes for his apprentice. Will she follow her master to end or forge her own path? Give this episode a listen and let us know what your thoughts are. I thought it was really good. Greetings spacefarers. Thank you for tuning into another episode of The Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast. My brother Mike and I just watched Part IV of Ahsoka entitled: Fallen Jedi. Thanks to patiently enduring the previous episode, we get to see a lot of action featuring Shin and Baylan in this one. Previously Huyang suggested Ahsoka learn to be more flexible when teaching Sabine. In turn, Sabine gets her chance to face off against Shin one more time to prove if she's up to snuff. I'm sure you're all aware Ray Stevenson died in May, almost three months before Ahsoka aired. That being said, we should all be grateful for the intensity he brings to the rolls he takes. His portrayal of a not Jedi/not Sith is rather interesting. Since he and apprentice survived Order 66 purges, I'm curious how his perception of the Republic and Jedi Council shaped his world view. I am still making my way through the Clone Wars series. Young Ahsoka is proving to be a cunning and competent padawan under the tutelage of Anakin's unorthodox "field" training. I am aware that Ahsoka abandoned the Jedi Order when she felt their pursuit of war with the separatists added to the complicity of the Jedi Council in all the death in the destruction brought about. Does Baylan feel the same way? Does supporting Thrawn potentially make him a Sith if Vader and Emperor Palpatine are dead? Very curious to see who they decide to cast as Baylan if he does not survive the series. Thanks for listening. What are your thoughts on the series so far? How does this Ahsoka compare to Clone Wars Ahsoka or Rebels Ahsoka? -Luca Subscribe to us on YouTube Subscribe on Apple Podcasts Subscribe on Spotify Check out the Discord Server Email us at StarWarsRewatchPodcast@gmail.com

This episode of Ahsoka is filler. We really don't learn anything knew that the audience could not deduce in the first few minutes of viewing. To quote my brother Mike, "it's storytelling 101." Well here were are folks. Please join me in welcoming back my brother Mike to the podcast. Was he banned? I am going to go on record and say "no." Regardless of the reason, we have another special edition of the podcast for you today. Today Mike and I will be discussing our experience with the sequel to the hugely popular video game Jedi Fallen order. I have said it before and I will say it again. I was so wrong for not playing the game upon release. As I write this I am trying to come up with a reason why not. The only thing that comes to mind is Cal Kestis. In my mind, I backburnered the game because I did not know the characters and did not want to get the know them. Either, I thought they were somehow related to Clone Wars or Rebels and did not think either of those shows were for me at the time. I was wrong. Having spent almost eighty hours with Cal, Greeze, BD-1, Merrin, and Cere, their second adventure far exceeds their first in almost every way. The gameplay was not so much an improvement but, expansion on the mechanics that were already good. In the previous game you have double bladed detachable lightsaber. The natural expansion of the combat system would be to allow Cal to wield dual sabers independently. The developers at Respawn did just that. What about a cross-guard saber like Kylo Ren? Why not? Blaster and saber? Holy shit! Now they have taken the gameplay to a completely new level. Of course the combat would not be complete without expanding Cal's force powers. Upon my second playthrough I realize confusion and mass slam, and mass levitate were some of the most useful. The game still locks off some abilities until you reach certain plot points in the story but, once you make it through the prologue on New Game + you have access to all abilities and force powers from the jump which are not tied to the story. This is the only part of the game that one might consider annoying. Especially on new game +. Some force powers like dashing are only tied to mobility. They do not necessarily make enemies easier to fight, so why do I have to wait until certain points in the campaign to use them. Same goes for the upgrade to you ascension cable. Towards the last third of the game you do not unlock the upgrade which allows you to attach to weather balloons you see all over the place. Regardless of these nitpicks, both games are absolute MASTERPIECES. Do not delay like I did and play them as soon as possible. Between the gameplay, story, graphics, music, setting, there is something for all Star Wars fans. Thanks for listening -Luca As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. And we're back. Thank you for tuning in. Here we are again with another episode of Ahsoka in the bag. It is definitely not notable both episodes debuted on the same day but I am going to bring it up here anyway. Why you might ask? No reason other than fill these opening text crawls with something rather than nothing. We follow up with our heroines Ahsoka, Sabine and Hera as they continue to piece together the mystery of Thrawn and potentially Ezra's location. I have admitted several times on this show I have not watched Clone Wars. However, I am doing my best to rectify that. So much so I am beginning to pick up on subtle references to to Clone Wars. Six episodes will have aired by the time I publish this publish. In that time I kept hearing the name Syndulla and wondering why it sounded familiar. According to the Wookiepedia, Cham first appeared in "Liberty on Ryloth" amongst others. I had no idea he would become such an important character in the franchise that even his descendants would later appear in the Star Wars Universe. In live action no less. Now I am really curious to see what Ahsoka, Sabine, Hera, etc were like in Rebels and how faithfully they have been represented on screen. Look forward to your thoughts and opinions on the show. Greetings my fellow night sisters. Thank you for tuning in. Another day another star wars IP drops DISNEY PLUS. I know we are a little behind on publishing. You can thank my loyal co-hosts for that. However, that will not stop me from holding Sydney's head up to the tv to try and share my passion with her and with you. This first episode provided a lot of mystery. Especially if you have never seen the accompanying show Rebels which aired from 2014 - 2018. Right after the acquisition Star Wars by Disney. While many lament the cancellation of Clone Wars in 2020. We get to see some of our favorite characters like Ahsoka grow and develop as they continue their arc in a new series made by the same creator. Once again, Dave Filoni has managed to impress me with the look and feel of Ahsoka. It can be obvious in some shots CGI has been used, in others its really difficult to tell between practical effects and sets. Since I have started watching Clone Wars, I am have only begun to scratch the surface of Ahsoka's character development and training throughout the series. It has been spoiled for me that she has renounced her status as a Jedi towards the end of Clone Wars. Hence why her lightsabers are neither green, blue, red, or any other color that might associate her as an ally or enemy of the jedi. There is a lot of back story I am missing having not finished Clone Wars. I thought this show was supposed to be about one of the greatest villains the Republic has ever known, not about one of the characters who allegedly died defeating him. I am going to continue to try and watch as much of Clone Wars as humanly possible. Disney Plus does offer a guide showing pivotal moments in the series for Ahsoka's storyline that you can skip between. As fast as that would be to watch rather than seven seasons, I feel bad for the creators if I did that. Not sure why I am trying to appease them but, I am starting to enjoy the show a lot and do not want to miss anything no matter how trivial it may be in the grand scheme of things. I am pleased to announce Sydney has completed her training as a padawan learner. when I met her, she had only seen episode I, II and III of Star Wars.Because of me, she is well on her way to becoming a knight of the Star Wars Universe. Did she enjoy everything she saw, definitely not. Will she groanwhen I am watching them over and over and over again?Absolutely. However, that is love. Unconditional love. Does this mean this is the last time we'll re-watch all nine movies?definitely not. I still enjoy the universe for all it's possibilities, flaws, special effects, new stories, old stories, and heroes long gone. While I may be a Jedi Grand Master amongst my friends and family,I am still but a learner compared to those who have comebefore me. My dad. For he is the one who started this all by taking me to see A New Hope in theaters when I was ten years old. When the prequels released, it was obvious Lucas was surroundedwith too many yes men. Instead of having a singular vision of an auteur, they aremade by committee. As a result many elements are thrown together that will definitely please some due to their familiarity and wow none due their rehashing of well tread ground.Based on imdb.com and metarcritic.com fan and critic ratingsRevenge of the Sith was the best of prequels. Rise of Skywalker, The Phantom Menace, and Attack of the Clones are by far the worst received out of all nine movies. Greetings space farers. Thanks for tuning in to another episode of the Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast. Back from a slight hiatus since the season finale of the The Mandalorian. What can we do in the meantime before Ahsoka releases? Why not re-watch The Rise of Skywalker with Sydney and get her thoughts and opinions and compare to mine. By far, I think fanbase hated this movie. While they may have appreciated Rian Johnson's attempt to do something different, JJ Abraham's retcon of his work did little to win favor with the fans. Personally I found the action sequences lacking. We've seen the Millennium Falcon in space battles. We've seen speeder biker chases. Why are we seeing them again in the same order we got them in original trilogy? Even the idea of Palpatine having offspring is not original. It's been done before in the book "The Glove of Darth Vader." At first glance it sounds like an adult version of a Star Wars novel. However, the plot revolves around two three-eyed characters named Triclops and Trioculus. One of which claims to be the son of Emperor Palpatine. The other is soft spoken and shy when Han, Leia, and Luke encounter him. I remember my best friend growing up had these books and allowed me to read them. They were targeted towards younger readers like the Young Jedi Knights and Junior Jedi Knights series but, were still read by fans of all ages. Needless to say, this movie was full of bad ideas and fake outs. Once it was revealed that Palpatine returned, the next logical move was to make Rey his granddaughter. Did you think they settled this plot point in The Last Jedi? Of course not! They brought back her nameless parents, of whom, one was the son of Palpatine with ZERO force powers I might add. What a mess! Of course, Sydney had the opposite opinion I did. Her favorite scene was the reveal of Lando Calrissian at which point she shouted out "LANDO!" We were all let down by the movie as a whole. The lazy plot hole bringing back Palpatine. The lazy dialog, "Somehow Palpatine has returned." Which is followed by the just as dumb line, "Dark science. Cloning. Secrets only the Sith knew." Secrets. SECRETS! More the like the entire GALACTIC REPUBLIC'S strategy for winning a twenty plus year Clone Wars. If not for the cloning technology the Confederacy's droid armies would have swiftly taken control of the galaxy and the republic. This whole plotline of a resurrected "clone" Emperor Palpatine flies in the face of the Rule of Two lore and the concept of midichlorians. Especially since he had a son! If we know force sensitivity is genetic (Anakin to Luke & Leia) then why does there need to be a Rule of Two? Palpatine and his predecessor Darth Bane, could have easily passed their knowledge onto their offspring but, instead Darth Bane utilizes Sith Magic to pass his spirit onto his apprentice Darth Zannah and inhabit her body. Aside from that. The Darth Bane trilogy is phenomenal and suggest you read it. Especially because they reference him in the Clone Wars series. Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast Special Edition Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Greetings spacefarers. We made it to the final episode of The Mandalorian. Did the season end with a bang, or a whimper? Tough call. My co-hosts Mike and AJ are back to discuss the season finale with me. They think their job is over but, Ahsoka releases in just over a month. I for one, will definitely be eager to discuss all these new mysterious characters we've seen in the trailer. For better or for worse it's forcing me to watch the Clone Wars series since Ahsoka is a main character from episode one. Once I'm done with that' I'll have to move onto Rebels where Grand Admiral Thrawn is main character. I still am not the biggest fan of the 3D art style they use. Some characters look really weird. Anankin's face especially. They made no attempt to make him look like Hayden Christensen. Obi-Wan's character looks like a 3D render of Ewan McGregor. It's a lot less noticeable with the aliens and droids versus the humanoid characters. Either way, it's refreshing to see the Star Wars license get the big budget attention on the silver screen. Who would have thought we'd be watching so many live action Star Wars TV shows? I really hope the story of Ahsoka is not just a series of references to episodes from Clone Wars. Now that I know Dave Filoni has been an integral part of Clone Wars, Rebels, Mandalorian, and Boba Fett, I'll have to look into his influence across the various shows he's been a part of. Greetings citizens of the Galactic Empire. Thank you being law abiding citizens and pointing out any suspected terrorism. We are back with another episode of The Mandalorian. The PENULTIMATE episode: The Spies. Is that title relevant? Sort of. In the last episode with Lizzo and Jack Black, Bo-Katan successfully defeated her rivals for control of her fleet. She and Din Djarin return to Nevarro thus completing step one of the Armorer's plan to unite all tribes of Mandalore so the re-conquest of their home-world can begin. In the beginning of the episode we do see some awesome cyberpunk shots of Coruscant and it's high-tech, low-life aesthetic. We also see the obviously evil Elia Kane slinking away to communicate with Moff Gideon via a probe droid that the Mandalorians are planning to return to Mandalore. Why are any of these former Imperials being left unsupervised on the former Imperial Capital? That is a huge security risk! Of course this means trouble for Moff Gideon because that is exactly where his secret Dark Trooper 2.0 base is located. We get a cool shot of him passing through several red force fields guarded by these new Dark Troopers where we see a council of Imperials gathered together. First and foremost Captain Pellaeon! Grand Admiral Thrawn's right hand man! I always remembered Pellaeon having a mustache like he does in the show. I flicked through the graphic novel for Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising and The Last Command. Clean shaven. Not sure where the Mandela effect is coming from in this case but, I swear he's not as old as they depict him in the show and his hair is not grey. Since the Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy, he has been depicted in several different media. If you've ever played the game Tie Fighter then you also know some of Admiral Thrawn's story. Here in the intro cut-scene we learn he's not even a "Grand" Admiral yet, he wears the white uniform which only Grand Admirals are allowed. There's also a guy with the white mustache and goatee next to him. Is that where they got the idea for Captain Pellaeon's depiction in the show? Curious. While Pellaeon may differ in appearance from book, to graphic novel, to video game to TV show, I'm really looking forward to the Grand Admiral Thrawn's appearance on the silver screen. How are they going to portray Noghri? Read these books and find out! As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Not gonna lie. Re-watching this episode definitely made it feel more like a filler episode. You have the beautiful but, distracting Lizzo. The beautiful but distracting Jack Black. Do I love them in their respective fields? Of course I do. Why the fuck are they in a Star Wars TV show?!?!?!? It's jarring! Once again it seems like the creators are trying to pad out the run time of the series. Once they land on planet, their immediately contracted by the planetary leadership to assist with malfunctioning droids. That's right folks, deadliest warriors in the galaxy are now retiring old malfunctioning droids. The twist of course, is that many of these malfunctioning droids are BATTLE DROIDS! How irresponsible is the leadership that they'd attempt to override the design and programming of a machine designed to kill and deploy it within a civilian population. Aside from Black and Lizzo, the one actor it was cool to see on screen was Christopher Lloyd. Not because he portrayed Doc Brown in Back to the Future but, for his role as Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. That is my jam to this day. In the next scene we get a call back to season one and Din's encounter with the ugnaught Kuiil on Nevarro. Side note, I had no idea Nick Nolte did the voice for Kuiil. Using his prior relationship to the ugnaught, he's able to get their attention and help with tracking down the malfunctioning droids. The only interesting part about what happens next is that we get to see B1 and B2 Super Battledroids on screen for the first time since Revenge of the Sith. It does really amount to much. Of course we find out Christopher Lloyd was a former Separatist who had plans to flip the switch and cause the battledroids to turn on their masters. It would have been a much more interesting episode if we had to see Mandalorians unite and fight however many legions of Battledroids were on planet. Instead, the bad guys is quickly captured like the Scooby Doo villain he is and we get to the only important scene in the episode. In the intro, we know the remaining Mandalorian once loyal to Bo-Katan are now acting as mercenaries and privateers. In the beginning of the season we learn they all abandoned her after she came home empty handed without the Dark Saber. Now we learn what they've been up to and that they've been hired to act as protection for the planet. It's here where Bo-Katan attempts to reunite with her former clan peacefully but, of course she chooses combat supremacy for the right to control the remains of the tribe. Obviously she wins and Din Djarin confesses that he was defeated and the Dark Saber taken from him, and that Bo-Katan defeated and rescued his enemy. Thereby making Bo-Katan the rightful owner of the Dark Saber. Without any evidence and only the word of Din Djarin does her clan accept and the episode ends with Bo-Katan once again wielding the Dark Saber. I honestly don't remember my initial thoughts when I first watched this episode. All I know, is that this second go around was probably not any better than the first. What can one say about Rogue One that hasn't already been said. Releasing almost a year after The Force Awakens, anticipation was high for the franchise's first theatrical spinoff attempt. Nowadays I can't remember if going into the theater, everyone knew the story would be about how the rebels managed to steal the plans for the Death Star. I seem to remember the plot to the DOOM clone Dark Forces involved kidnapping the character General Nadine (who would be seen on screen for the first time in a terrible fake beard in Return of the Jedi). I'm most likely wrong but, I vaguely remember that the reason Kyle Katarn kidnaps Nadine is because he's the one Imperial who defects and helps the fledgling alliance steal the plans in the first place. Kyle Katarn is also the first character in the Star Wars Universe to utilize the now legendary Bryar Pistol that Cassian Andor also carries as his sidearm. The impetus for the film originates in a throw away line in A New Hope. We all know Leia hides the plans for the Death Star in R2-D2 but, we never learn how she came to acquire them until now. We learn the weakness in the Death Star was a design flaw engineered by it's captive creator Galen Erso portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen. Excellent performance by an excellent actor who at this point in his career, has portrayed more villains than heroes. Here he does a great job and with the death of wife Lyra, his character has all the motivation he needs to plot his revenge over the twenty plus years of construction of the deadliest weapon every conceived. I think by far everyone's favorite character ending up being K-2SO portrayed by Alan Tudyk. Even though he's portraying a droid, there was more humanity in the lines delivered by Tudyk's motion capped performance than the rest of cast combined. Of course it was also really cool to see Darth Vader in a movie other than the the original trilogy. James Earl Jones does a great job with his limited lines. Director Krennic portrayed by Ben Mendelsohn also does a fantastic job portraying an evil character. I think it was Chris Stuckmann who really loved how Mendelsohn chewed the scenery and went FULL EVIL VILLAIN in the scenes he was in. Well done to the casting director that hired him. My favorite scene was of course the naval battle at the end. Especially when Admiral Raddus notices the disabled Star Destroyer and uses Hammerhead Corvette to ram it which then turn it into a giant needle to pierce through the planetary shield protecting Scarif. Awesome sequence! I loved every second of it. Thank you for listening to this Special Edition of the Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast. Needed a little extra time to process my thoughts on this last special edition. Mike and I went on for two hours about Jedi Fallen Order. Obviously, we both love the game. I was wrong for not playing and beating it sooner. The story is great. Characters are great. Voice acting superb. Graphics, sound effects, music, gameplay, combat, absolutely phenomenal! Respawn has made a fool out of EA. I understand that taking risks in a industry as competitive as video games is a tough sell but, if you design games for their audience, people will buy them. You don't always need to have blockbuster bombastic Call of Duty's to guarantee sales. The powers at Disney, carefully and thoughtfully helped Respawn craft a piece of art worthy of the title Star Wars. Rant over. There's a lot to talk about in this game. Let's start with the setting. Five years after Order 66, we are introduced to former Jedi Cal Kestis. Living his life in obscurity, trying to make ends meet. Cal has abandoned the way of the Jedi. However, fate has caused him to utilize his powers once more to save a life. The Imperial Inquisition becomes wise of Cal's existence, thus setting off the chain of events which begin the story. Both this show, and Kenobi show the evolution of the Empire's tech from Attack of the Clones to Revenge of the Sith, to A New Hope. At this point we see the Storm Trooper armor we know and love from the original trilogy. We can also infer the empire is on a five to ten year upgrade path. We see the semi-modern Clone Trooper armor in Revenge of the Sith that has less elements of Jango Fett's Mandalorian armor and more modern Stormtrooper elements. Specifically the visor and vents. Either way, Cal is set forth on his task after being rescued by another former Jedi Cere Junda. I'm not going to spoil all of the game's plot here except that Cere is looking for a holocron left behind by another master. With it, Cere hopes to utilize it's knowledge to rebuilt the Jedi Order and fight the empire. This game kicked my ass. Mostly because I was playing it wrong. Yes, I cranked the difficulty up to Jedi Grandmaster. Why? I am a veteran of all From Software games since Demon's Souls and everything in between. While most will compare the combat to Dark Souls it's actually more like Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. I was playing the game much more aggressively and the game was punishing me for it. While the parry windows are much narrower on higher difficulty, the game rewards deflecting enemy attacks much more than breaking an enemies guard by brute force. Even on the highest difficultly when I simply deflected enemy attacks I was rewarded with more opportunities to do damage versus attacking, guard-breaking, then attacking some more. Either way, I learned a valuable lesson and powered through the rest of the game until it's climatic ending. I'm not going to spoil it. If you've never played this game you absolutely must. I will leave amazon associate links for where to purchase. Thanks for listening guys. I hope you enjoy the game as much as Mike and I did. -Luca Subscribe to us on YouTube Subscribe on Apple Podcasts Subscribe on Spotify Visit us on Reddit Check out the Discord Server Email us at StarWarsRewatchPodcast@gmail.com

By forcing developers to develop games, simply because they are game developers has blown up in EA's face. Zampella and the rest of Respawn have proven that EA's "online only" multiplayer centric business model is simply a profit motivated decision, rather than develop art for the sake of art.

How we doing spacers? Good to hear. This is your host, Luca. My co-host AJ and I just watched the fifth episode of The Mandalorian: The Pirate. Out of context, this episode is a complete waste of time. Yes, there are cool starships on display. Yes there are dogfights, laser blasts, and rockets fired. However, the only things that move the story forward are so minuscule and minute you the viewer might end up missing out on them. Yes the pirate's invade and yes, they are defeated. We knew that was going to happen. Unfortunately this storyline takes up most of the episode. What's more interesting is we learn the villain from seasons one and two, Moff Gideon, might not have received his due justice. There's a very eerie shot of a wrecked Lambda-Class shuttle floating aimlessly in space. The hull breached and it's crew frozen in the empty vacuum of space. It's terrifying! Well done to the cinematographer who drew this up. They've clearly taken inspiration from James Cameron's Aliens with how the scanner of the R2 unit pans beam of blue scanner energy around the fuselage. On a personal side note, I love the design of this ship. It's got the right amount of bureaucratic efficiency, malice and terror the Empire would want to display. You see variations of it throughout the timeline with Kylo Ren landing on Jakku with an Upsilon-class Command Shuttle. Prior to this, The Armorer speaks to Bo-Katan and tells her she believes she did in fact see the Mythosaur. With this knowledge she asks her to remove her helmet and parades her in front of the rest of the Covert. Here she declares that Bo-Katan "walks in both worlds" and will herald a new chapter in Mandalorian history where all tribes are united. All of these essential story elements in the last five minutes of the episode. I can tell why Jon Favreau is beginning to fight with Disney about the direction of the show. Gorian Shard looks and sounds exactly like a Disney villain. Not a pirate from the Star Wars universe. He's just a text book meanie that the good guy Mandalorians have to kills. All this being said, the production value does not falter. Everything looks great. Especially the Cumulus-Class Corsair on fire crashing into the surface of Nevarro. The only other bit of annoyance was The Armorer's choice of weaponry for the liberation of Nevarro. Tongs and a Hammer. Do either of those fire lasers, missiles, flames, grappling hooks, poison darts, I hear you ask? No. She fights exclusively in melee combat only in a world where only Jedi typically use melee weapons and all her enemies use energy and projectile weapons. One long sigh later and I'm done writing the show notes. Let us know what your thoughts are on the episode. Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast: Special Edition. Episode VII The Force Awakens

Play Episode Listen Later May 28, 2023 40:32

Good evening lads and ladettes. You have tuned in to a Special Edition episode of the podcast. Let's go back to pre-2015. In 2012, the world has just learned that George Lucas has inked a deal with Disney and sold his life's work for $4,050,000,000. Shortly after learning this, Disney pushed forward and began pre-production on a new film in 2013. For some fans, this was incredible news! While the prequels were seen as a net positive by some, others thought that Lucas had clearly gone mad and was surrounded by too many "yes men" unwilling to disagree with his vision who were just geeked to be working for him. As a result, the opening crawl for Episode I The Phantom Menace read like a boring history lesson rather than an exciting new episode of your favorite space western serial. The special effects flooded the screen and absolutely nothing you saw save, for the actuals had a real world physical equivalent. Even the actors faces were digitally edited out during fight sequences. While a technical achievement on their own thanks to the advancements in computing power and software, there was no wonder in how it was all achieved. Lucas thought it up, and artists drew it up and rendered it on a computer. The digital camera provided by Sony allowed footage to be downloaded and edited much faster. Scenes, characters, backgrounds were all rendered thanks to green screens. Whereas the originally trilogy employed model makers, carpenters, set designers, painters etc. All of which had to achieve their special effects so the cameras lens could capture it. Stop motion models were built and animated where necessary. All done practically. The resulting prequels would receive mixed reviews in a lot of outlets. Roger Ebert famously gave Attack of the Clones "thumbs down". In 2013 we also learn J.J. Abrams is slated to direct and produce the movie. At this point in his career, Abrams had already rebooted another beloved sci-fi franchise. Star Trek. If any of you have seen the movie Fanboys, then you know Star Wars and Star Trek and not allowed to associate, intermingle, or breed with one another. Thus, it is considered a crime against humanity that Abrams would be hired to direct Star Wars. This would not be the only reason for fan outrage. From what my old, insane roommate told me, Abrams had aroused the ire of Star Wars fans, not for his association with Star Trek but, the tv show Lost. I have never watched Lost. However, it developed a rabid fanbase. The hook of the show asked so many questions and involved so much mystery. Who were these people? Why did they crash? Where are they? Why are they there? By season three rating were starting to wane and, fans were not getting answers to the many questions and mysteries of the show. Eventually, the fans would determine everyone is dead, and they had all been in purgatory the entire time. The writers of the show, especially David Lindelof, would vehemently deny this. As more seasons were churned out. Fewer questions were answered, more plot holes would pop up. It became clear to the loyal fans the writers had written themselves into a corner and were no longer going to kite the fans around the way they wanted. With this baggage, it was impressive to see the result of Abrams efforts. John Williams once again does the music. A cast of relatively unknow actors are hired to play the main characters. Several of the previous cast a brought back to continue their story. Abrams evens uses the lens from the original cameras to film the movie to capture as much of the original look and magic George Lucas did in a desert of Tunisia. At this point, Kathleen Kennedy had declared all expanded universe material invalid and non-canon, the writers still manager to steal an idea from the Young Jedi Knights series. Re-Watch Podcast Chapter 20 The Foundling Another Sunday in the books. Another episode of The Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast goes out into the universe. Hi. I'm your host Luca. With me, my co-host and best friend AJ. What can we say about this episode? More than it's creators, that's for sure. AJ and I managed to ramble on for over an hour while the creators were barely able to scrape 30 minutes together. I do appreciate the legendary Carl Weathers lending a hand (Billy Madison reference) to direct this episode. Of course, it happens to be the shortest episode with virtually no stakes whatsoever. By far, the most interesting scene involves Grogu and we glean a few snippets of his backstory. For whatever reason, even though he's fifty years old, already his memory is shot and he cannot tell us anything about who he is and where he came from. The main story involves the one of the apprentices named Ragnar being preyed upon by another deadly species in which the Mandalorians have made their camp, and are utterly incapable of defending. Seems kind of strange since they know giant alligator lizards inhabit the lake right in front of the cave they occupy. In addition, they have avian threats they can't seem to fend off even though they too can fly with their jetpacks and "it always gets away." Perhaps they should leave the beast slaying to other experts and stick to bounty hunting exclusively. Either way, as if it was any surprise. Bo Katan tracks the beast to it's nest and then earns of the honor of leading a hunting/rescue party to secure the apprentice. We find out that his name is Ragnar and he is the son of the Paz Vizsla. It's here we get a fast paced action sequence where instead of shooting this beast, they decide to try and immobilize it with their grabbling hooks instead. I mentioned to AJ, the problem with all cast wearing similar costumes and especially helmets, you cannot tell what anyone is doing in a given moment. It really makes it difficult to tell who's doing what. Either way, our Mandalorian friends rescue Paz Vizsla's son Ragnar and allow the winged beast to be eaten by the gator monster when it plunges into the water in the canyon below. When they return to base, they describe the three adolescent reptile fliers as additional foundlings in need of training. Did anyone else catch that? What is with this Mandalorian religion? Din Djarin looks at Grogu and sees Mandalorian material in him when he's clearly force sensitive and would be best trained as a Jedi. The hunting party sees three winged reptiles and instead of killing and eating them for several weeks based on their mass, see potential Mandalorian bounty hunters. WTF is going on here? I though Mandalorians were supposed to be the deadliest warrior race in the galaxy. Here we've seen them get owned by storm troopers and wild animals. The only scene of importance in this episode was Grogu's flashback to the raid on the Jedi Temple. We also learn that two lightsabers are much more effective at deflecting blaster bolts because every Jedi with only one gets gunned down. Interestingly, we also learn Grogu is whisked away in a royal Noobian starship. Similiar to the one Anakin and Padme used to head back to Tatooine. Very curious to see why that was in the show or was it just an fan service. Lastly, Bo Katan confesses to the Armorer she saw the Mythosaur in the flesh. Looking forward to how that plays out in the future. Thanks for listening and watching. -Luca #Mandalorian #episode4 Tweet us @SWRewatchPod on Twitter Subscribe to us on YouTube Subscribe on Apple Podcasts Subscribe on Spotify Email us at StarWarsRewatchPodcast@gmail.com

Wow! This episode takes a left turn that seems to split the fanbase. That is, what's left of The Mandalorian fanbase. If memory serves, Ryan Eary at Screen Crush mentions that half the fans seemed to have abandoned the series, which is unfortunate. This season, instead relying on crossing over characters from other series (Bo Katan) or blatant fan service (Luke Skywalker), the creators are taking a huge risk. Rather, they are beginning to treat the Star Wars franchise similar to the Marvel franchise. Instead of creating each series in a vacuum, they're are zooming out at the galaxy map, and finding out where and when these characters could cross paths along the timeline. Like Marvel Comic heroes, they know each character has their own respective villains, friends, teachers, and all manner acquaintances. These characters also exist in our world. With cities like New York and San Francisco. Many believe part of the reason the Marvel franchise is so successful is due to how it's characters are based in real places. This is in stark contrast to the DC franchise who's characters exist in fictional places based on real world cities of New York (Metropolis) and Chicago (Gotham). Star Wars has no shortage of Expanded Universe characters and storylines to use as a canvas for a television show. I admit my wrong doing when approaching The Mandalorian season three. I was disillusioned by seasons one and two of Mandalorian. I felt there were too many episodes that did not add to the story and were simply filler. This is why I did not even bother to watch The Book of Boba Fett. I had wanted a Boba Fett show the whole time. Instead we got a show with a guy who looked and acted like Boba Fett. But wait! For two seasons we were leaving bread crumbs and subtle hints Boba Fett was there the whole time. In my opinion, the juice was not worth the squeeze. Of course AJ and my brother violently disagree. Fine. Let them. Chapter 19 starts off with a impressive dogfight between Bo Katan's Kom'rk-Class Fighter/transport "The Gauntlet," Din Djarin's modified "N1" Noobian starfighter and some Tie Bombers and Tie Interceptors. After which, the story makes huge departure and instead follow up with a character from season one. Dr. Penn Pershing. Member him? If not for his stupid glasses I wouldn't either. The whole story involves cloning technology he was working on. Tech which was ordered to be destroyed by the New Republic. Instead, we see Pershing attempting to re-integrate into a society free from the tyranny of the Galactic Empire. However, as a scientist, he cannot bare to see his life's work lost despite the good it might yield. Here my brother Mike actually makes himself useful. We ask the question, what happened to the Kaminoans and their cloning facilities. According to Star Wars Battlefront II, the CIS has launched an attack on Kamino in an attempt to destroy the Republic's clone producing facilities. According to the Wookiepedia, this first attack would take place only two months after the Battle of Geonosis. Only in the series The Bad Batch, do we see the cloning facilities on Kamino utterly destroyed by order of Moff Tarkin. Dr. Pershing and his new friend Elia Kane, sneak aboard a decommissioned Star Destroyer to steal lab supplies needed in order to continue research into cloning. It's here we find out that Elia betrayed Dr. Pershing and stole his technology. Only time will tell what she and the alliance plan to do with it. Overall, a great episode in my opinion. Why? It took risks. It dared to do something different. Even if the storyline is a thinly veiled attempt to retcon Rise of Skywalker's Clone Emperor plot holes. Another Sunday, another episode of the Star Wars Re-Watch Podcast in the bag. This time, with very special guest, Kelsey! I'm writing this several days after the first viewing of the episode and only one day after re-watching it a second time. This episode definitely seemed longer compared to the first episode of the season. We mentioned that Din Djarin is given a quest by The Armorer. Here we are in episode two and he's achieved all of his quest goals. Item one. Secure a droid with atmospheric sensors. Item two. Bathe in the Living Waters in the Mine of Mandalore so he can be redeemed from his status as an apostate. Both AJ and I were expecting this to be dragged out much longer but, the creators were able to keep it focused and wrap up the quest in this episode. What's interesting is their decision to involve Bo Katan. I admit. I did not know anything about Bo Katan prior to her debut in season two. I know she's a very popular character from The Clone Wars series and that's it. Even then, I think I only found that out because people talked about it YouTube. Both my brother Mike and AJ speak very highly about the show so I will have to check it out at some point. Overall, we thought this was a great episode. It's very dark and moody. It also highlights how much of a badass Bo Katan is. She's much more perceptive and and skilled than Din Djarin. We'll have to see how her involvement in the story plays out over future episodes. The fans seemed to like her and though she's lost all her clan, the writers found a way to keep her involved in Din and Grogu's story. The other thing we enjoyed was the jump scare. While not as starting the second time around, the creature design really stands out. Not sure if character designers plagiarized Warhammer 40k but, AJ and I could definitely see what looks very much like a Necron Canoptek Spyder. There's no fooling nerds like us. I have to thank AJ for introducing me to the Warhammer 40k universe. He let me borrow his copy of Warhammer 40k Dawn of War on PC and the rest was history. Fast forward to the release of Dawn of War Dark Crusade and the introduction of the Necron as a playable faction. While the Canoptek Spyder hovers rather than use it's limbs it's still a terrifying presence on the battlefield since they were a heavy melee unit if memory serves. They were also fast which was helpful compared to the rest of the Necron which move with a slow deliberate lumber. I'll post another picture on twitter. Even the design of this creatures head is similar with multiple red sensors. Even if it was copied from a different sci-fi universe, the cyborg limbs also called back to General Grievous. Grievous's race are knows as Kaleesh. His species looks very different from his metal faceplate yet somewhat similar to the combat masks they wear. Similar to Grievous, it also had some sort of modularity to it's design. The head detached from the body which detached from the Canoptek Spyder which could also independently operate the Spyder without the rest of the exoskelton. That was really cool! I'll have to watch some more of Ryan Eary's Spoiler/Easter Egg breakdown on the series to find out what this thing is because I've never seen anything like in and movie, game or comic I've read. Overall, a very interesting episode that I'm learning was much more impactful if you've seen the show Clone Wars. I haven't. Shame on me. However, I think with some of the flashbacks of the fusion bombing of the planet help emphasize how devasting to the bombardment was to the planet and also to The Mandalorians as a people. Howdy my fellow Mandalorians. If you're reading this, then you know "this is the way" to delete some brain cells and listen to some thirty somethings from the Midwest discuss a Disney+ TV show. We are back in our new, exclusive podcast studio! We recently moved but, were still able to finish off Andor while the new studio was being assembled. Some of us were out due to illness. Some of us were out due to laziness. Not today! The main crew is here. AJ, my brother Mike, and myself just watched the first episode of season three of The Mandalorian. Chapter 17. The Apostate. This episode started off with a bang. Even after watching the recap for this episode, I realize I definitely have to re-watch season 1 & 2 of The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett. Since were jumping into the third season of the show I do share my opinion about what I remember from the previous 2 seasons. I was not a big a fan as I was of Andor. We will get into that more into the episode. Bottom line. I was not immediately impressed with either season 1 or 2 of the Mandalorian. I want to save my opinion for a future episode but, in short, we (the fans) wanted a show about Boba Fett, instead we got the Mandalorian. A guy who basically is Boba Fett in everything but name. Even chose the same career path. Then we got Book of Boba Fett. Turns out, we actually preferred this unheard of nameless, faceless (at the time) bounty hunter who look like Boba Fett but, is not actually him. Like any smart company, Disney pivoted and leaned into the Mandalorian because their data suggested their audience actually preferred it to Boba Fett. I don't envy Disney for attempting to make a show about Boba Fett the fans would all love. He's a character with so much backstory in the Expanded Universe, it would be very difficult to pay him respect without upsetting some of the fan base. The choice to push forward with the Mandalorian is a smart one. Here's hoping that Boba Fett makes and appearance and we see more of the most ruthless bounty hunter in the galaxy. Thanks for listening. We definitely had fun recording this one.
