The two World Wars, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf War...these are some of the 20th Centuries greatest conflicts, yet they pale in comparison to the Emu War, a skirmish that erupted in the state of Western Australia in 1932, pegging farmers and soldiers of the Australian Army against an indigenous species of flightless bird--the emu. Feathers will fly in this informative (and sometimes amusing) episode!

We should all be watching and listing to Davy Jones. Davy came into this conversation with more nuggets about organizing, connecting, and taking a stand against organizations than almost any other guest I have had on this podcast.I can't wait for you to listen.KEY TAKEAWAYS *First, I would just really love to mention that the UK has a labor union for yoga pros. This is a thing that happens around the world, and I am excited to explore this conversation more in the coming months.*In spite of many objections by SO many (really SO SO many) people I have talked to in the yoga space, a union actually could help yoga professionals in North America. The union could do for us what it does for UK workers–provide advocacy, health insurance, support, and accountability for the profession of yoga. Collectively, we are better together. Unions can be part of our solution.*Ever since I started getting involved with advocacy work in regards to the IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists) people keep asking me some variation of the same question. “Are YOU starting an organization?” But this begs the question I asked Davy about the British Wheel of Yoga. What is the point of an organization? We have a lot of orgs that claim to be doing good work in the field, but very few can come to the table with receipts. The British Wheel of Yoga is just one of many in this regard.*Building community and service into our business models is SO crucial for aligning our businesses with yogic principles. It is inevitable that we will need to price our services in such a way that we make enough money to keep our doors open, but unpacking the question of how we give back is key to going forward in our industry with integrity and respect for the tradition and practice of yoga.*UK Community Outreach Network is the coolest idea I have heard in such a long time. Honestly, can I interview everyone who is involved in this so we can tell the world how it works? Please? Also, does anyone in the States want to work on this with me?*Let's chat about an organization that keeps our students safe. What does this look like? How can we support this sort of organization? *I don't know how many times I have referenced BREWED, a program I do at my studio for studentship, but please go ahead and steal my idea. Studentship courses can offer people a deeper understanding of yoga and yogic principles without actually needing to train people to be yoga teachers. *What do you feel about regulation in our industry? I do truly believe that we are doing good enough work to stand up overall regulation as an industry. Does that mean licensing? I don't know if that is the answer but we certainly can stand up to general oversight as an industry.*We ARE part of the solution of the crisis of public health. Davy could not have said that better. When you are feeling down, please remember that. RESOURCESWorking In Yoga WebsiteWorking In Yoga NewsletterDavy's Website Brighton Yoga Foundation

In this episode, Kirk Stange discusses the common assumption in divorce and family courts that individuals in a relationship are inherently similar, encapsulated by the phrase "birds of a feather fly together." This thought process suggests that if one party exhibits erratic or irrational behavior, the other is likely the same, based on the notion that they chose each other for marriage or parenthood. This episode is based on an article on our Family Law Headquarters blog titled: Do birds of a feather always fly together in family law matters? Revelation described Babylon as "the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird." Sounds sort of like Twitter. Maybe Elon Musk isn't really trying to free the Internet, restrict it or do anything else the left or right claim, but instead is more concerned with the data. On April 21st, Tesla announced their Optimus robot with updated AI will be ready soon after months of it not working. On the 24th, Musk confirmed that NeuraLink would begin human trials this year. On the 25th, the day of Twitter's sale, StarLink went active with a major airline. Perhaps Musk's actions are not malicious but instead coldly calculating and almost machine-like. The limiting of text on Twitter trims the edges off of our complex thoughts and provides only the 'thought' itself. Symbol dictionaries will tell us that the BIRD represents thought, imagination, synthesis, and sublimation. In Egypt, the bird was BA - the soul. A blue bird in particular is a representation of pure ideas. Since imagination, thought, and ideas are expressions of the bird then it is our soul's expression that is trapped in the Twitterverese. Likewise, the red T in Tesla is a TAU cross, a symbol of synthesis and perfection in Hebrew, and the human being and belly in Greek. Through synthesis, perhaps man and machine, perfection can be achieved through the human body by a process of transformation that occurs in the belly or womb. Merging active and passive forces generates a spark or electric bolt to spawn new life. A red cross is also rebirth and a gateway to somewhere or something else. In other words, merging man with machines, and accomplishing such ends through artificial intelligence and algorithms that are able to learn from the immense amounts of data generated by individuals in order to create digital replicas of the real world. The infrastructure is connecting StarLink with NueraLink's brain-computer interface, pumping data into the AI of Optimus robots. Man and synthetics merged together into the belly of transformation in order to reach the synthesis of perfection.-FULL ARCHIVE & RSS: https://www.spreaker.com/show/the-secret-teachings Twitter: https://twitter.com/TST___Radio Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thesecretteachings WEBSITE (BOOKS, RESUBSCRIBE for early & ad-free show access): http://thesecretteachings.info Paypal: rdgable@yahoo.com CashApp: $rdgable EMAIL: rdgable@yahoo.com / TSTRadio@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/tst-radio--5328407/support.

In this podcast episode, we dive into the iconic British sitcom Birds of a Feather, which first aired in 1989 and became an instant hit with audiences across the UK. The show follows the lives of Sharon and Tracey, two sisters who find themselves living together in Essex after their husbands are imprisoned for armed robbery. We'll explore how the show became a staple of British television, delivering laughs and warmth over the course of more than 12 years on air, plus a reboot. Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson brought undeniable chemistry and comedic timing to the show, making their characters feel relatable and beloved. We'll delve into how their roles evolved over the series, capturing the complexities of sibling relationships and life's ups and downs.  The episode also examines the role of their posh, eccentric neighbor, Dorien, played by Lesley Joseph, whose flamboyant lifestyle added a new layer of humor and chaos. Dorien quickly became an audience favorite, with her unapologetic attitude and witty one-liners. Her interactions with Sharon and Tracey provided some of the show's most memorable moments, and we'll analyze how her character broke stereotypes and added a layer of satire to the show's portrayal of suburban life. The Simpsons switches formats to horror anthology series this time of year, so shall Did I Do That?—we've got a collection of some of the scariest design disasters, missteps, failures, and goofs that have haunted designers this past summer at Future Fonts & Friends 2024!How can our anonymous designer ghosts find peace when haunted by a trifecta of specters in the form of opening up your letters' chakras, gingerbread power moves, and the challenges of Lidz franchising. Listen… IF YOU DARE!WANT A DESIGN CONFESSIONAL AT YOUR EVENT?If you have a live event and want me to set up another design confessional for it, either in Portland or beyond, let's talk! I'd love to do more events like this in the future.SPECIAL THANKSThe confessions used in this episode were collected as part of “Future Fonts and Friends,” a party held for TypeCon 2024 at Outlet in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday, July 25, 2024. All guests were cloaked in the shadow of anonymity—the scariest thing of all in our personal brand building world! Take that, social media! Thank you to all who came out and participated!Huge thanks again to Lizy Gershenzhon and Travis Kochel of Future Fonts for inviting me to be a part of the event, to the organizers of TypeCon for putting up with me, and (once again) to MVP Orion Cortez for building the confessional booths way back in 2023 based solely on two terrible sketches I made, then coming back out in 2024 to help me set them up again.Additional thanks to past guest Kate Bingaman-Burt of Outlet for her eternal support of / patience with me just in general, but especially the white-hot ball of stress that is me when faced with a live event. This episode features a parody of Billie Eilish's new song “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” and a parody of the character the Crypt Keeper, brought to death by John Kassir. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Last week The Last Dinner Party caught major heat from fans after security at their show screened cis male attendees. Meanwhile across the pond, Billie Eilish stans are overstepping boundaries by hurling abuse at her team over the Birds Of A Feather music video. And as usual, Chappell Roan devotees are being little bastards. This week, Ione and Gina are delving into the death knell surrounding celebrity culture and asking what has caused stans to wade into unhinged - and unsafe - territory. It's a bird? It's a plane? Its a guy pretending to be a bird?? We have a very odd aircraft in the collection. It's an ultralight. Small, highly maneuverable and based off the wings hang gliders use to jump off mountains, this particular ultralight was used to help birds migrate. And it starred in the movie in the '90s! When we heard that we were like, say more please. Thanks to our guest in this episode:Russ Lee - curator and chair of the Aeronautic Department, National Air and Space MuseumFind the transcript hereSign up here for the monthly AirSpace newsletter
