Lucasfilm has about a dozen Star Wars movies in various stages of development. One of them is a prequel from James Mangold that will tell the origins of the Force, the mysterious energy field created by life that binds the Star Wars galaxy together. In a recent interview with MovieWeb, Mangold opened up about what convinced him to make a Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm, sharing that "the really important aspects [were] the freedom to make something new." Mangold, who is co-writing the screenplay with Beau Willimon, explained that they wanted to find "a way on the page to say something original." With his movie set to take place 25,000 years before any other Star Wars project, Mangold will seemingly be freed from decades of lore. "I'm not that interested in being handcuffed by so much lore at this point that it's almost immovable, and you can't please anybody," the director added, suggesting that his Star Wars movie may drastically shake up the fandom's current understanding of the force.Announced in April 2023 at Star Wars Celebration Europe IV, Mangold's Star Wars movie will be part of an era dubbed "Dawn of the Jedi" by Lucasfilm. "The Force has become a kind of religious legend that spans through all these movies. But where did it come from? How is it found? Who found it? Who was the first Jedi? And that's what I'm writing right now," teased Mangold at the time of its announcement. Mangold has since cited Cecil B. DeMille's 1923 silent religious epic The Ten Commandments as a major inspiration for the movie. However, it is unclear when exactly the "Dawn of the Jedi" movie will go into production, as there is a chance Mangold's next movie will instead be his DC Universe feature, Swamp Thing. The filmmaker became attached to Swamp Thing in February 2023 and has been juggling the screenplays for both movies ever since. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has repeatedly stated that no DC movie will get greenlit until there is a finished screenplay that is worth turning into a movie, so there's a good chance that Swamp Thing may also be a ways off.The next Star Wars movie to hit theaters will be The Mandalorian & Grogu in May 2026. When the movie is finally released, it will have been almost seven years since the last Star Wars movie, 2019's The Rise of Skywalker. The Mandalorian & Grogu is a feature-length continuation of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. While plot details remain under wraps, Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin and the lovable alien Grogu will be joined on their first big-screen adventure by Star Wars Rebels character Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios, Sigourney Weaver (in a mystery role), and Jeremy Allen White, who will voice a grown-up Rotta the Hutt. Jon Favreau — who created The Mandalorian — co-wrote and directed The Mandalorian & Grogu, which was shot entirely in California between August and December 2024 and is currently in post-production&

This week's episode is bittersweet because The Bad Batch has come to an end. While this season was the strongest of the three we still feel there was a lot left on the table. Ultimately was this a fitting ending to the season and to the series as a whole? We discuss that very topic, as well as theorize about what may become of an older Omega joining the Rebellion. Hopefully that doesn't result in her ending up on Rule 34! On this episode Jay and Tim react to the communities' reaction to our call for 2.0 and we also deep dive Din Djarin!
In a world where innovative, immersive, and authentic learning reign supreme, anything that could be described as “robotic” can be a little off-putting to say the least. It brings to mind the mentality of Disney's “The Mandalorian” who, in early seasons, has good reason to mistrust droids - avoiding and even eliminating them at every turn! Yet, just like Din Djarin has to do some personal “reprogramming” to find a droid or two as tolerable, even useful entities …we are all working to come to a place where we can similarly embrace some of the practices detailed in the Science of Reading for the vocabulary instruction of older learners. How do we reconcile our own wishes to “avoid the droid” while still integrating research-based practices when called to? It starts with a healthy degree of questioning and consideration. This is the way.

Four years ago, Disney introduced "The Mandalorian," Star Wars' inaugural foray into television, creating immense anticipation with its groundbreaking 26 million views for the first season trailer. From the outset, the on-set photo of Din Djarin hinted at something extraordinary, capturing the essence of what the show would become. It sparked unity within the Star Wars fandom, with Baby Yoda becoming a cultural phenomenon and phrases like "This is the way" permeating our conversations. The show's universal appeal, accessible even to those unfamiliar with Star Wars lore, made it a standout in the modern era. The first season, and indeed the initial two, stand as some of the finest Star Wars content, revolutionizing the franchise with a captivating soundtrack, exploration of new worlds, and the introduction of iconic characters in unexpected ways. "The Mandalorian" exemplifies the power of Star Wars TV when executed with precision and passion, setting a new standard for the galaxy far, far away. There are hot takes, and then there are truly hoth takes. In this episode, Wired security reporter Lily Hay Newman returns to Hoth Takes to defend one of the most controversial Star Wars claims we've ever heard: that The Book of Boba Fett was a good TV show. Lily loved how the show played with different forms of storytelling, and she came away from it with a newfound interest in Boba Fett. But here on Hoth Takes, she has some explaining to do. How does she respond to Eric and Grace's complaints about the Din Djarin and Grogu interludes and the unceremonious slaughter of the Tusken Raiders? What does she have to say about the mod parlor's cheap resurrection trick? And what can she possibly mean by comparing The Book of Boba Fett to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine?

in the mandalorian episode 7 season 3 we got the episode titled the spies, insinuating there are more than one spy besides elia kane who has been posing as a new republic worker feeding intelligence to moff gideon. That's spy number one. However, I believe there is a spy amongst the Mandalorians, and I have some ideas to share as to who they could be…The first of course is the armorer. She was very against Bo Katan seeing as she is from a different clan and believes in taking her helmet off, then switched up pretty fast by allowing her to do as she pleases, first not believing her about the mythosaur, saying that she probably just imagined it or hallucinated, to full on believing she saw it and granting her the permission to remove her helmet without any concrete proof. She asked Din to bring the water from the mines as proof. If she was so trusting, she wouldn't need any of the water for proof, she'd just request his word as bond. Now, I believe she wanted actual proof to see if he did indeed go to Mandalore, to tell Moff Gideon that the time has come, the Mandalorians will start to go there, to prepare his defences and return to the public. She then tells Bo to go gather all the Mandalorians she can, and I'm sure she knew that Bo Katan's next move would be to make a home on Mandalore, bringing all the Mandalorians there to be wiped out. The pirates probably worked for Moff Gideon and the Empire as scouts. There's no way they weren't being fed by him, and they'd never bite the hand that feeds them. They worked with the Armorer to get her out of the trap they had planned for them. She conveniently escaped to bring the sick Mandalorians in the pirate ship to Axe Woves ship, which was originally Gideon's. I believe she's going to betray them all, and if she doesn't, then man, they did a great job of not letting us know who the spy is… Now why would the Armorer who has dedicated so much time to earning the trust of these Mandalorians around her, waste her time? It's all part of a bigger plan. Palpatine wasted decades on being a politician, only to strike at the right moment and turn the entire galaxy against the Jedi and to his favour. The Armorer executed her plan perfectly, to get as may Mandalorians in one place at the same time under Moff Gideon's control. We've already lost Paz Vizsla and Din Djarin, now the empire has leverage. I think Armorer is the one that set everyone up. I'll be so surprised if she isn't. Now, the second possibility is the obvious one…Koska Reeves or Axe Woves. I think Axe Woves is too dead on the nose to be the spy. We'd all imagine he's the one to betray Bo Katan and the other mandalorians simply because he's bashful and resents Bo, however, I think that's what Lucasfilm wants us to believe. It's too obvious with him. There must have been someone that tipped the empire off about where exactly they are, and I think it's Koska. She was always quite keen on Grogu, I saw a tik tok that showed her stages throughout the show and a lot of it had me thinking…maybe she is the spy who now betrayed Bo. When we first saw her, even in the trailers for season 2, she was seen as a hooded figure, then she dissapears in the crowd, many of us thought she's a Jedi, but now we know she's just a nite owl part of Bo Katan's squad. However, that's a pretty ominous scene for someone who's a good guy, supposedly. She glares at Grogu everytime he was mentioned during season 2 in the bar as she ate the squid. You could see Grogu felt something wrong. I saw all of this highlighted in a tik tok video that actually had me thinking along the same lines…then in season 3 she takes the mon cala prince, and he says i thought mandalorians were supposed to be honourable, she said we are, for the right price. As they do this, the floating assisstant droid goes rogue and tries to laser melt them all down, until Din takes out his dark saber and slices it in half. Nice to see it being used for once. He's still super slow nad heavy with it, clearly not having found it's way of movement like Bo Katan. They analyze the sample on the computer, and realize theirs a chain code in the actual napenthe along with nano bots. The chain code says it's originally manufactured by the techno union, if you remember them the leader was Watt Tambor from the prequels, during the clone wars he worked with count dooku. Anakin ended up slicing him up with his lightsaber on mustafar. The man who ordered this napenthe was the head of security, commissioner Helgait. Bo and Din tell him the jig is up, and they know he did it, so he threatens to hit the big red button which isn't a failsafe to shut off all droids, it's a switch to return all droids back to their battle droid state. He's revealed as a separatists who supports Count Dooku, calling him a visionary, and as he's about to mention Anakin Skywalker having killed count dooku, bo katan zaps him and he falls over. They take him to the royalty jack black and lizzo, and he first insults them, then turns a 180 on Lizzo and apologizes asking for forgiveness. The entire mission is over, and we spent 30 minutes on it when we have only 3 episodes left, now technically just 2. They get the key to plazir 15 and are now in the good graces of the planet forever. Grogu is also knighted. Seems like he's a mandalorian, jedi, knight. Bo and Din head to see Axe Woves and she's nervous as she thinks her clan are now loyal to him. She walks up to him and his clan as they have a back and forth as she states she comes to claim her fleet. Axe Woves won't step down, so she challenges him to a trial by combat. He accepts, they fight, and Bo wins. He tells her Din is the one she should challenge to take the dark saber from. She tries to tell them all that mandalorians are stronger together. Axe Woves says Mando is a zealot and she walks with him, he's not got a drop of mandalorian blood. So here we can clearly see the difference in mandalorian sects here. Din Djarin wasn't born on Mandalore or born from Mandalorian parents, and for this reason Axe Woves deems him unworthy. It's the typical differences and petty fighting between mandalorian sects. Bo defents him and says he took the creed just like the ancestors, before the nite owls and Axe Woves strayed into their own way. Axe mentions that he has the dark saber, and Mando offers it to her, telling them that according to their rules, she does own it, since when he was on mandalore, he was beaten by the grievous droid thing, who then was beaten by Bo Katan, technically making the dark saber belong to Bo. IT's a win on a technicality, but it's super lame in my opinion because there's no way that droid thing was going to rule mandalore with the blade. He didn't even know what it was nor did he pay attention to it. Anyways, technically, it is hers, so Axe agrees and everyone straightens up, showing us that they are immediately respectful to her and recognize her as their leader. Now she will bring them back with her to Nevarro, where I think Moff Gideon and the empire will probably see his ship parked there, tracking it, and show up, causing all sorts of problems for Mando. I think the jedi to appear if there will be one, will be Ahsoka, leading us into the Ahsoka show. So now Bo contols Mandalore and Mandalorians. This leaves me questioning the mythosaur…is she actually going to tame it…or is saying you saw one enough to be the bridge of all mandalorians? That'd be kind of lame if so. we see the new republic HQ as they're hanging out and playing pool, we meetup with carson teva, new republic pilot from season 2 who offered cara dune a job. He plays the hologram from greef carga who's asking for his help. Zebb walks up to him, and this is his live action debut. Zebb was in Rebels and he was part of the crew with ezra, hera, kanan, and chopper. It's great seeing him in live action, and i think his appearance is perhaps a foreshadowing of ezra and thrawn. In fact, maybe he's just stationed there to get intel on moff gideon's transport time and date, so that sabine could escort him out and get information on where Thrawn is, leading them to Ezra. This theory comes from one of you during the watch party last night, and your reasoning for this was because beskar was found on the ship, this beskar could be sabine's. Personally, I think it was mandalorians related to death watch, loyal to maul. Carson Teva shows the hologram of Greef Carga to corsucant's new republic HQ, colonel tuttle which is like the main center for it. He denies him approval to help, as G86 walks in after seeing Carson in there. She is still playing the new republic, and i think she still works for moff gideon. Carson mentions moff gideon having never made it to trial, and G86 is seen looking down in discomfort. She says a pretty imperial thing, by saying Navarro 7 may now see the importance of joining the new republic by essentially suffering. New republic denies help to nevarro 7, and carson takes it upon himself to go find the mandalorian. He tracks them down via R5's transponder. He tells them about Greef Carga's message, and then leaves. Din speaks to the clan, holding the armorer's hammer, which is like a talking stick type of thing. Mando pleads his case to save Greef Carga, who he says has had a change of heart against mandalorians, and that imperials were the ones who decimated the mandalorians, not Carga. He proposes they all live on navarro 7 as Greef has offered him land, and may offer them land too. Carson Teva comes across an abandoned Lamda T4A shuttle. It looks heavily attacked. He speaks with the New Republic, and they find out its the ship that transported moff gideon. The ship has no survivors yet moff gideon's body is missing. The flight crew are frozen from space. Carson Teva notices something embedded in the wall, it's a piece of beskar, and they deduce that moff gideon was broken out of there by mandalorians. So, this could be one of two things. Either death watch, a very rugged and violent group of mandalorians did indeed break moff gideon out, which is believable since he did hold the dark saber at one point, meaning he accrued a following of some kind, a following that may still be very loyal to him. Or the other option is that he framed mandalorians by putting a piece of beskar there to throw the new republic off their tracks. The third option here is that he's just paying mandalorians with beskar, as we know he has tons. I personally think he actually was freed from mandalorians who were perhaps loyal to darth maul once, and now loyal to moff gideon. I think once Bo Katan goes to unite these kinds of mandalorians, she will come to a very rude awakening and perhaps be captured herself, luring Din Djarin out to Moff Gideon, who will challenge him to a duel and this time win, claiming the dark saber for himself once again, and him being the one to rule all of the mandalorians. To tame one is beyond difficult and has been done by Mandalore the Ultimate or in new canon if they're the same person, Mandalore the Great. Now that Bo Katan has seen a Mythosaur as she was saving Din Djarin, and as we know, she wants nothing more than to rule Mandalore once again. After losing her dark saber to Moff Gideon, and then to Din Djarin the Mandalorian, she has not been the same. It seems she's very depressed and down in the dumps about it all, very jealous, she has become as Yoda would say.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
