If I hear one more business owner throw in the towel after they've made a mistake or one of their launches failed… *facepalm!* Trust me, we've all been there – we get excited about doing something new and then that something doesn't pan out exactly how we thought it would and we're ready to quit. Buuuuuut *steps on soap box*... it is SO important to experiment more in our businesses and commit to consistency! That's why in today's episode of Goal Digger, I'm sharing some of the experiments I've done in my own business – ones that worked, ones that didn't pan out, and talk about the power of experimentation in entrepreneurship. I feel the need to remind us all that truly unbiased humans don't exist so truly unbiased news sources can't exist either. Buuuuuut, luckily there are some resources that don't explicitly sell out to advertisers, politicians, agendas or whatever else people get brainwashed by or choose to sell their souls for and fortunately for us - that means there are the occasional resources that opt for good journalism and with that, we have something to work with! By now you may have seen the media bias chart by Vanessa Otero to see how 104 news outlets rank on reliability and bias. When we're consuming content of any kind, but especially informational or educational stuff, and especially especially the news, we should not only be very conscious of the reliability of our sources but also become more selective and choosy about WHAT we're consuming from those sources, how we're consuming that information, how often we're consuming it. Make Me Pretty with Katie Allen, PA-C (Tomboy turned plastic surgery PA)
The eyes are one of the first things we see on a person. They can "say" a lot without one single word spoken. On a good day, the skin under the eye is smooth, hydrated, tight, with good light reflection, few lines and little puffiness. BUUUUUUT when this area is dry, wrinkled, has darkened skin, shadowing of the tissues, significant laxity or large pockets of puffiness then one can look fatigued, sad, or unhealthy. In this episode, we discuss the evaluation of these tissues and possible options to address them. With over 15 years experience in Plastic Surgery, Katie Allen, PA-C touches on a variety of treatment options such as microneedling, needling with radio frequency, lasers, skin care, filler, and surgery. I suggest listening to the podcast at a 1.5x speed to keep the rhythm going. Nosebleeds. Seem pretty straight forward, and for the most part, they are. Buuuuuut, there are some nuances and special considerations you need to think of before you throw that pack in there and send to ENT. So for this episode, we will cover the anatomy, leading causes, signs and symptoms, and management of a common complaint to the ED and primary care.
No, we're not living in the 50's anymore, and you might feel like you've never been forced to deal with gender roles. Something about summer being over and back to school that screams reset to me. After hearing about Andy Frisella's #75HARD Challenge in the spring I was intrigued. Buuuuuut 75 days straight without 1 glass of wine and working out twice a day seemed almost impossible. I won’t lie - the reality and logistics of this scares the crap outta me, but bc it’s scary, I know I must do it. Starting Sept 19th I will be doing #75HARD There are 5 rules for the 75 days. There are no concessions , no cheat days
Damn man like 4 hours into living in my new town and I sprain my freakin' ankle fallin' from a freakin' warehouse ceiling. Hopefully I can jump out of planes again soon. Buuuuuut sheesh idk freakin' when. Don't you think we should have a new national anthem with every president? What do you think Donny Boy's song would be? If he was cool at all he'd pick somethin' like the 1979 Euro disco hit "Moskau" by German pop band Dschinghis Khan. Annnnnd new podcast with @livbanch in the works. We live together now and bullshit in the living room into microphones. Episode 39: Episode 500! Not really... buuuuuut Happy 500th Anniversary of the Reformation! by Pint Glass Preachers
How come she hit and quit it in one night? How come she never called back? Find out now!!!
Jake Donnelly (AKA "Bagoon") quickly mentions the lack of anything happening sports-wise in New England so he is going to rant and rave about Buster Olney's last two articles for his "Topic of the Day" (Start-1:45). Jake goes on to discuss how this is weird because he normally likes Olney's writing unlike Samer Kalaf's (1:45-3:40). Buuuuuut, then the discussion turns on Olney's "Baseball Must End Its Beanball Legacy" article, which Jake finds intellectually dishonest. The rant stems on the Jim Palmer and Mike Mussina/Bill Hasselman anecdote (3:40-6:31) and how Olney ties it into how the basebrawl almost resulted on the loss of Cal Ripken Jr's Iron Man streak. Jake goes on to take Olney to task for using examples of injured batters that have nothing to do with beanballs and how that is intellectually dishonest (6:31-14:20). Olney also uses an example that literally disproves his point, which gets a normal crazed reaction from Jake (14:21-17:30). Jake continues raving about how the beanball can be used as a tool for effective pitching and how some of the best pitchers ever knew how to use it (17:31-20:09). There's a quick aside about the Bryce Harper/Hunter Strickland incident and how to throw a proper beanball (20:10-22:12). But Jake is not done with Olney because Jake trashes Olney's "The Case for Clayton Kershaw" article (22:13-23:33). Jake has two main points: Kershaw's career is way too short at the moment (23:34-29:15), but the worst part is Olney dismissing Kershaw's awful postseason stats as if the postseason doesn't matter (29:16-37:54). Jake ends it with a quick discussion predicting Penguins in five and a Warriors sweep (37:55-End)
