In physics, a single domino can knock over another domino that is 50% larger. If lined up properly, your single initial action could eventually knock over a piece the size of the Eiffel Tower. Instead of coming up with a laundry list of goals for 2026, what if you focused on one big thing that would have a monumental impact on your financial life? We will offer a few examples and stories as inspiration, but ultimately, your choice of domino is completely up to you.
Decisions are like dominos. And here we are—2026—standing in front of the next domino. In this message, Lead Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares how your life hasn't been shaped by big moments as much as by little choices. This message is called "Last Year's Choices." This isn't to give you a hard time about what you did last year—we all made good decisions and bad decisions in 2025. This is to help you understand how you got where you are and how to use the domino effect for your good. Our current lives are the sum total of our decisions. Some choices were intentional, some reactive, some made under pressure, and some dominoes were knocked over by others. I'm not saying you chose everything that happened to you, but you did choose how you responded."We are all born looking like our parents, but we all die looking like our decisions."If decisions brought us here, decisions can take us somewhere new.Where you are didn't happen all at once. It happened one choice at a time, one habit at a time, one reaction at a time. Last year's choices produced this year's realities, and this year's choices will produce next year's reality. You really do have a choice.Deuteronomy 30:19 reminds us God sets life and death before us and calls us to choose. You can't control your upbringing or circumstances, but you do control your decisions. You can't rewrite yesterday, but you can redirect today. When it comes to decisions, your default is not good.Joshua 24:15 shows that if we don't choose God, we don't choose nothing—we choose what's familiar. If you don't choose what's godly, you'll choose what's comfortable. You are good at making bad choices.Jeremiah 17:9 says the human heart is deceitful. Your heart doesn't just feel; it steers. That's why Proverbs 4:23 says to guard your heart, because it determines the course of your life. Good intentions don't stop bad decisions—good decisions do.Your choices begin as thoughts.James 1:15 shows how desire becomes action. A thought isn't a sin, but when desire meets decision, it produces direction. Philippians 4 reminds us to think on what is true and right, then put it into practice. Your thoughts are practice for your actions.Your choices are not private.Every decision affects someone. Numbers 32:23 reminds us what we repeat privately becomes who we are publicly. Personal choices become public patterns.Today is next year's "last year." You can start now.Is the domino effect working for you—or against you?

In the concluding message of "The Domino Effect" series, Karl Ihfe explores Ephesians 6 where Paul instructs believers to "be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power" (Ephesians 6:10). Ihfe draws a parallel between the Mandalorian creed "This is the way" and the early Christians who were known as followers of "the Way" before the term Christian was coined. Ihfe explains that Paul's description of the armor of God—the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit—isn't merely preparation for battle but a way of life. This armor represents different aspects of Christian living that Paul has been teaching throughout Ephesians. The real enemy, Paul emphasizes, is not "flesh and blood" but spiritual forces working against God's kingdom. Prayer completes the armor, keeping believers connected to God's strength and aligned with His heart. https://bwaychurch.org
Ever played Dominoes? What happens when one domino hits the next? It triggers a chain reaction of falling dominoes. This series, The Domino Effect, explores how our choices create ripple effects that shape our lives and influence those around us. Jesus taught that seeking God's kingdom and righteousness first is the "first domino" that aligns all other aspects of life, creating a powerful, positive spiritual chain reaction.
Karl Ihfe continues the "Domino Effect" series by examining Ephesians 4, focusing on the pivotal decision of who we choose to follow. Drawing from Paul's letter, Ihfe contrasts two paths: the way of the Gentiles, characterized by "futility of thinking," darkened understanding, and insatiable desires, versus the way of Jesus, which leads to renewal and transformation. Ihfe explains that following Jesus means "putting off the old self" and "putting on the new self" as described in Ephesians 4:22-24. This transformation manifests in practical ways: speaking truthfully, managing anger appropriately, working honestly to share with others, using words that build up rather than tear down, and replacing bitterness with kindness and forgiveness. Ihfe challenges the congregation to become "radical encouragers" who reflect God's character in their daily interactions, reminding them that their decision about who to follow will impact every aspect of their lives and relationships. https://bwaychurch.org

Dr. Nikki Maphis didn't just lose a grant. She lost a lifeline. An early-career Alzheimer's researcher driven by her grandmother's diagnosis, Nikki poured years into her work—only to watch it vanish when the NIH's MOSAIC program got axed overnight. Her application wasn't rejected. It was deleted. No feedback. No score. Just gone.In this episode, Oliver Bogler pulls back the curtain on what happens when politics and science collide and promising scientists get crushed in the crossfire. Nikki shares how she's fighting to stay in the field, teaching the next generation, and rewriting her grant for a world where even the word “diversity” can get you blacklisted. The conversation is raw, human, and maddening—a reminder that the real “war on science” doesn't happen in labs. It happens in inboxes.RELATED LINKS:• Dr. Nikki Maphis LinkedIn page• Dr. Nikki Maphis' page at the University of New Mexico• Vanguard News Group coverage• Nature article• PNAS: Contribution of NIH funding to new drug approvals 2010–2016FEEDBACK:Like this episode? In this sermon on unity from the "Domino Effect" series, Karl explores how Paul's letter to the Ephesians reveals unity as God's plan from the beginning. Drawing from Ephesians 1:10, he explains that God's purpose was "to bring unity to all things in heaven and earth under Christ." While the world naturally tends toward division and decay, Christ came to create "one new humanity" (Ephesians 2:15) by breaking down barriers between people. Karl emphasizes that unity doesn't mean uniformity—like four-part harmony in singing, unity harnesses our differences for God's kingdom. Paul instructs believers to "keep the unity of the Spirit" (Ephesians 4:3) through humility, gentleness, patience, and bearing with one another in love. The challenge for Christians today is to prioritize unity over being right, to speak truth in love, and to remember that our unity is built not on opinions or preferences but on our shared identity in Christ, who is the "one Lord" over all. https://bwaychurch.org

Then, Aging Matters looks into classes to help older Coloradans avoid scams. Plus, how a small town football team in Colorado started winning for the first time in generations. Medicaid and Medicare Advantage may seem like programs for specific groups, but the choices made in these public plans ripple across the entire insurance system. This episode explores how coverage churn, capped benefits, and financing reforms in public programs ultimately shape commercial premiums, provider networks, and patient access for everyone. We unpack why what starts in Medicaid and Medicare Advantage rarely stays there, and how those shifts end up reshaping all of our coverage.
In this installment of the "Domino Effect" series examining Ephesians, Karl Ihfe explores Paul's vision of prayer as revealed in three prayers found in chapters one, three, and six. Ihfe contrasts our often limited, comfort-focused prayers with Paul's expansive prayers that remind believers of the extraordinary power available to them—"the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead" (Ephesians 1:19-20). Paul prays for spiritual wisdom, enlightened hearts, and a deep understanding of Christ's love that surpasses knowledge. Ihfe challenges us to consider whether our prayers reflect an awareness of this resurrection power or if we've settled for prayers centered on comfort and entertainment. Drawing from his recent travels to Kenya and North Africa, he shares how believers in challenging contexts are experiencing God's transformative work despite difficulties. He invites the Broadway church to pray with kingdom perspective, asking God to use them to make a difference in Lubbock rather than limiting what God might do through them. https://bwaychurch.org

Chad Hammond examines Ephesians 2 and its powerful message about Christ as our peace who has destroyed the dividing walls of hostility. He explains that the Hebrew concept of peace (shalom) is far more than the absence of conflict—it represents wholeness, fullness, and justice. Through historical context, Hammond shows how the temple's physical barriers separated Gentiles, women, and others from full access to God, creating a system of limited belonging. The heart of the sermon reveals how Christ's sacrifice has radically transformed this reality. As Ephesians 2:19 declares, "Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household." We who were once excluded have not merely been given citizenship but have been invited into God's family and become the very dwelling place of God's Spirit. Hammond challenges the church to embody this inclusive peace by breaking down barriers that prevent others from experiencing God's love, becoming the first "domino" in a chain reaction of reconciliation in our divided world. https://bwaychurch.org
