    Ivy Insights

The Build Your Copywriting Business podcast is an incredible resource for anyone interested in or already working in the field of copywriting. As a newcomer to copywriting, I have found this podcast to be an invaluable source of knowledge and inspiration. The hosts, Nicki and Kate, are incredibly encouraging and make me believe that I can succeed in this profession as long as I put in the work. The podcast covers a wide range of topics related to copywriting, from practical tips on starting a business to discussions on the internal and psychological aspects of being a successful copywriter.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is how well the hosts understand their audience. They address the insecurities and fears that many aspiring copywriters face head-on, providing guidance and advice that is tailored specifically to those needs. The episodes are comprehensive and guided, with great titles that make it easy for listeners like me to cherry-pick the topics that interest them the most.

Another great aspect of this podcast is its simplicity and practicality. As someone new to copywriting, I appreciate how Nicki and Kate break down complex concepts into easy-to-understand terms. They provide relaxed conversations about starting a copywriting business, what areas to focus on, and where your business can go. This has been incredibly helpful for me as I navigate my way through this new career path.

While there are no major downsides to this podcast, it's worth noting that it may not provide the same level of detail as the Comprehensive Copywriting Academy (CCA) trainings offered by Filthy Rich Writer. However, it does offer plenty of valuable tips and serves as a great introduction to see if signing up for the CCA would be beneficial.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend The Build Your Copywriting Business podcast enough. It provides a wealth of information and motivation for aspiring copywriters like myself. It's clear that Nicki and Kate genuinely care about their audience's success and provide the necessary tools and advice to help them thrive. Whether you're new to copywriting or have been in the field for a while, this podcast is a must-listen.

Do you remember when Kate and I shared allllll sorts of jobs you can do with a background in copywriting? (I totally get if you don't remember, but you can catch that podcast episode right here.) Thanks to CCA student Alba, we've got another one to add to that list: product marketer. On today's episode of the Build Your Copywriting Business podcast, Alba was generous enough to join us from Spain (where, spoiler, she's from and now a homeowner!). She is sharing the full story that led her from working 60 hour weeks teaching in the UK to becoming a copywriter and, ultimately, landing a product marketing role that allows her to work from her home in Spain. Alba's journey is the perfect reminder that you never know where your career will take you. But if you're open to the possibilities, copywriting can take you places you may not even realize are options.  I can't wait for you to hear all of Alba's wisdom (and how one of her first copy clients was the World Health Organization—how cool is that?!).  ------------------ Mentioned in the Episode How Do I Know If I'm Ready to Pitch Copywriting Clients? How to Fast Track Your Copywriting Career SuccessEp. 203: Secrets to Smooth Copywriting Client Relations Related Links Ep. 59: Buying a New Home with Copywriting Income – Shannon's Story --------------- Get Free Copywriting Training here

About pages are SO important: They're often the most visited page after the homepage. But so many copywriters get the purpose of these pages so, so backwards. As CCA students know, we often laugh that the “about” page is not about you. (Or, if you're writing the page for your client, not about them.) Effective about pages convey to the user what the company can do for them. Why should they go with this business over a competitor? Why should they trust this business to solve their challenge or fulfill their need? On today's episode of the Build Your Copywriting Business podcast, Kate and I are giving examples of the types of things you might include on an about page and key elements you need consider any time you're writing an about page. When you have multiple copywriting clients, it doesn't matter if work slows down with one or if they go out of business entirely! You've got other work. And going from a 100% full workload to 90% or even 85% workload is much better than 100% to 0%.
