We're taking a wild ride this time Doomers! Our version of the Chipmunks along with the Chipettes take a bet with a ridiculously wealthy, vaguely incestuous sibling couple, Klaus & Claudia (and Sophie) as to who would win in a hot air balloon race around the world. Of course this is just a cover for smuggling millions in diamonds. Will our heroes figure out the dastardly plan before Dave makes it back from his European trip? Call Ms. Miller to sit with your kids, we're taking off on The Chipmunk Adventure (with the vocal talents of - Ross Bagdasarian Jr., Janice Karman, Dody Goodman, Susan Tyrrell, Anthony DeLongis, Frank Welker, and Nacy Cartwright) this week on Doom Generation! Back to the 80s we go, with a movie based on a franchise that got its start in the 50s. That's right, it's Alvin and the Chipmunks (and importantly: the Chipettes), off on a hot-air balloon adventure around the world. There's diamond smugglers, bad guys with gold teeth, and baby penguins to be found on this adventure, but does this globe-trotting adventure featuring different cultures as written by white people still hold up? Our new friend @ItsLuckyPurr joins us to discuss one of her & Chid's favorite childhood films 'The Chipmunk Adventure.'The Chipmunk Adventure is a 1987 American animated musical-comedy film based on the Saturday-morning cartoon series Alvin and the Chipmunks. Directed by Janice Karman and written by Karman and Ross Bagdasarian Jr., it stars the voices of Karman, Bagdasarian, and Dody Goodman, and follows the Chipmunks and the Chipettes as they go on a hot air balloon race around the world that is the cover for a diamond smuggling ring. There are lots of spoilers for this film in this episode, if you don't want us to ruin a movie for you that came out in 1987 we suggest watching the movie (you can find it if you search on vimeo for free) before listening to this episode. We rate the movie on the Rounding Down scale of A to Z.At the end of the episode there is a very amazing conversation about the band Creed, so you're going to have to listen to the whole episode to hear that. Pitch your voice up a few octaves and brace yourself for some unbelievably racist stereotypes as we race off with the bizarrely sexual children's film The Chipmunk Adventure. Would this movie have made any more sense if we'd been able to watch it as a cohesive whole rather than through YouTube scraps? Who decided turning the Chipmunks into money laundering mules would make a good plot for a kid's movie? Are Klaus and Claudia siblings or… something more? And, most disturbingly, why must there be so many upskirt shots of the Chipettes? Please direct all questions to our therapists because this is the episode where we tangle with how deeply this movie imprinted on some of our psyches. Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Looking Back On My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast. Our favorite furry rock and roll trio is back in their first ever feature film. The winners will collect a prize of $100,000. Kids and adults will enjoy this film made with musical numbers by the Chipmunks and the Chipettes. Now in the care of Dave Seville's nephew (Zachary Levi), chipmunks Alvin, Simon and Theodore take a break from pop-music stardom and return to school. Almost immediately, the tiny tunesmiths get the giant task of saving their school's music program by winning a battle-of-the-bands contest. Though the boys think winning it will be easy, romantic and musical sparks fly when they meet Brittany, Eleanor and Jeannette -- also known as The Chipettes. Dan Seitz of Marvel's Flying Monkeys (a podcast where they discuss every Marvel movie minute by minute) is back to discuss commercials and … other things … related to The Chipmunk Adventure. We spend a lot of time talking about Will Smith back when he was newly popular as The Fresh Prince (even before Bel Air!) and one of his early videos: I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson. Geoffrey mentions 1-900-909-JEFF, which was a hotline you could call to hear messages from DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. And then probably your parents would get super mad because it would add a charge to your phone bill. We also, as promised, watched the "Girls of Rock and Roll" scene from Malibu Bikini Shop, a movie we would DEFINITELY NOT show to a child. We talk about many of the things that make this scene disturbing, including the bit where a child excitedly asks for a super sexualized bikini. Romy Mehlman, if you're listening, definitely let us know where you are now! What's your life like? We'd love to hear.Anyway, after that, we felt like we needed something to restore our faith in humanity, so we watched a charming video of some people in Colorado doing their own homage to the Chipmunks and Chipettes version of the song. From the choreography to the costumes, this group nailed it! Also, the chipmunk costumes definitely look like turtleneck druid robes, and Geoffrey really wants to see a D&D player character or monster guide for a Chipmunk character. Who will make this? Could it be you?And of course we did also watch some actual commercials, too. We started with a Chipmunks VHS box set commercial, including such classics as Batmunk and Funny We Shrunk the Adults. Has anyone ever seen these? Julia kind of wants to… From there we descended into the depths of Chipmunks album commercials. Namely Chipmunk Punk and The Chipmunks 35th Birthday Party, which alerted us to the fact that a Chipmunks version of Achy Breaky Heart exists. This made Julia and Geoffrey wish for a Chipmunks version of "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus. And… good news, everyone! Clearly we were not the only people who wished for this. You can find several versions if you search. If you're having fun listening to us, please tell your friends about us! Rate and review us! follow us on Twitter where we're @thisiswhy_pod! Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 43 of Get Soft, your guide to the truly astonishing world of softcore films, and the world’s number one podcast on that subject! For various reasons, we inadvertently took a month and a half break, but never fear - we’re back, and we’re going straight into a hugely innovative series of special episodes! So here’s the deal: it’s summer down under, and we’re going to do the three movies in the Bikini Summer series! Incredible, right? Right. This time we’re joined by a bunch of antipodean special guests (including Jaymz from NBA 'Straya podcast, and Josh from the band Househats), and we check out where it all began, back in 1991, with the first film in the series. David Millbern (from Midnight Confessions!) is there, and so is Hollywood body double superstar Shelley Michelle, and also porn star Missy Warner, who seems to turn up in a lot of these films. In this entry, some friends have to try and save a beach from greedy developers by staging a bikini contest. And...that’s kind of it, really. Also, we check out the life and times of Katherine Victor, who is in the film for literally a minute, so that proved kind of a controversial choice. She has a long and storied career though - working repeatedly with Jerry Warren against her better judgement, most notable in The Wild World of Batwoman, but also as an animation continuity checker, with legends like Friz Freleng, Ralph Bakshi and Don Bluth, and on that one Chipmunks movie where they raced the Chipettes around the world in hot air balloons. You know the one. Hey, why not call us on our hotline? (724) 2GO-GO69 or (724) 246-4669!

Alvin, Simon, and Theodore along with the Chipettes embark on a race around the world to see who is the most globetrottingest of them. (Don't even try to look that one up, it's not a word.) Little do they know, they've been duped into smuggling diamonds and cash for Claudia and Klaus! We also talk about the upcoming 2019 slate of Batman-related films, the passing of Don Rickles, the trailer for The Mummy and future Universal Monster remakes, and the outstanding new Thor: Ragnarok trailer.
A surprising number of good comedic actors star in this big budget squeakeuel. Alvin and the gang send Dave (Jason Lee) to the hospital with what I assume is an irreversible spinal injury, so they go off to high school to complete in some charity concert. Meanwhile their conniving former manager Ian (David Cross) uses his new act the Chipettes, a demographically equal female version of the Chipmunks, to sabotage the brothers by singing "Single Ladies" twelve times in a row. Also there's a football game and I think they pilot an RC helicopter.
