Tread Perilously's crossover month continues as Baby and the Mystery Machine collide in the Supernatural episode called "ScoobyNatural." When Dean is awarded a widescreen TV for defeating a haunted dinosaur toy, he and Sam are transported into the animated reality of Scooby Doo, Where Are You! -- episode 16, "A Night of Fright Is No Delight" to be exact. While Sam frets about being a drawn character, Dean turns into a total fan even as he attempts to tempt Daphne away from Fred. But the merriment may get cancelled when the lighthearted events of the plot turn to real murder. Will a haunted television turn this crossover into something lethal? Justin admits to never being a Muppets guy, but he shares Dean's affection for Scooby Doo. A discussion of children's cartoons and the Looney Tunes breaks out. Erik envisions voice actor Frank Welker's mobile recording studio. Justin argues for Velma Dinkley as a Bisexual Icon. Justin waxes about the musical chases in the original series. The Scooby Doo and Supernatural formats are examined. The tendency toward real estate developers as the villain is explained. Matthew Lillard once gets all the praise, as does Grey Griffin. Velma and Sam prove to be a fruitful pairing and Erik tries to figure out why the episode's animation leaves him cold.

It's partly responsible for the creation of the PG-13 rating.Truth be told, it's Steven Spielberg who is really responsible for the introduction of the PG-13 rating. Both Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, which he directed, and Gremlins, which he executive produced, were rated PG upon their release, and subsequently criticized for not being kid-appropriate. To avoid being slapped with an R rating in the future, Spielberg suggested that the MPAA add a rating between PG and R. On August 10, 1984, Red Dawn became the first movie to be released with the new PG-13 rating. 2. Howie Mandel is the voice of Gizmo. It was the suggestion of voice actor Frank Welker, who voiced Stripe in Gremlins (and Fred on Scooby-Doo before that), that Howie Mandel be hired for the role. Phoebe Cates was a controversial casting choice.Given her sweet demeanor as Kate, it's hard to imagine that not everyone was on board with casting Cates. But her infamous topless scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High gave the studio pause about putting her in the lead. Kingston Falls and Hill Valley are one and the same.If the fictional town of Kingston Falls in Gremlins looks familiar, that's because it was filmed on the same set used for the town of Hill Valley in Back to the Future, which wasreleased a year later. At one point, Gizmo and Stripe were supposed to be the same creature. It was also at Spielberg's suggestion that Gizmo's role in the film grew. Originally, it's the cute little Mogwai pet himself who transforms into Stripe the Gremlin. But Spielberg knew that audiences would want to see as much of Gizmo as possible, so he withdrew the idea so that they would appear as totally separate characters.  **TRIPLE LINDY AWARD** **REVIEW AND RATING**Trey 3Chris 1.5Stephen 2.5Tucker 2 TOP 5Stephen:1 Breakfast club2 Saving Private Ryan3 Ghostbusters4 Sandlot5 Color out of space Chris:1. sandlots2. On this episode of the Video Junkyard Podcast we continue our annual Christmas movie marathon with a long-time fan favorite (yet often forgotten holiday film) Gremlins! This 1984 classic was directed by Joe Dante, written by Chris Columbus and stars Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, Hoyte Axton, and an early role by Corey Feldman. When a father gives his son Billy (Galligan) a strange pet for Christmas, the creature - a Mogwai named Gizmo - he tells him to follow three important rules for caring for the creature: never bring him out into bright light, never get him wet, and never EVER feed him after midnight. When Billy accidentally breaks the last two rules, a bunch of new mogwais are created and transform into mischievious and monstrous gremlins that wreak havoc to their small midwestern town. With voice talents by Howie Mandel and Frank Welker to round out that cast, Gremlins was a smash hit in 1984. But how does it hold up in 2022? Whether these cartoons were made by major Hollywood studios, like Warner Bros. & MGM, or production companies like Hanna-Barbera & Ruby-Spears, they all had one thing in common: a desire to create shows that held a sense of innocence, untouched by the cynicism of the world at large. Except for maybe Looney-Tunes…that stuff was perhaps just a tad...dark.I want to hear from you, Slackers! What did I miss? What were YOUR favorite Saturday Morning Cartoons?

What scares a notorious chicken-heart like James Irish more than the classic horror tropes? Absolutely wretched cartoons like Quacula, which was introduced to him by Pembroke W. Korgi. James swore revenge soon after. Seriously, the B-Feature in the ABA format for the Heckle and Jeckle revival on CBS is proof that even Frank Welker can only elevate bottom of the barrel material by so much. Also this show features a writing credit from Paul Dini. The theme is cowards this time, but don't be scared; there's some pretty good stuff in here! For example, the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon. You gotta check out what happens when a flippant DM sends a party of 2nd level adventurers to fight a beholder with only a Frank Welker terrified of everything and a flower to help them. And then there's Lost in Oz, which is a surprisingly good cyberpunk take on The Wizard of Oz? Man, cloaking technology is the best thing that could have happened to an Ozian lion. Plus, Micah describes his hopes and dreams and fursuiters and Fluttershy, while Matsy checks in on an Australian cartoon in which a fursuiter takes it too far. Step into our tavern and see which NPCs will reward you for taking on the quest to listen to our podcast!   Cartoons in this episode: Dungeons & Dragons, "The Eye of the Beholder" Lost in Oz, "Dorothy Meets the Lion"

The film was released by 20th Century Fox on November 23, 1994.  Join us as we revisit Nate's pick, the Pagemaster, and see if it still has that same magic it brought to our VCRs in 1994. Culkin stars as a timid boy who uses statistics as an excuse to avoid anything he finds uncomfortable in life. But after reluctantly undertaking an errand for his father, he gets caught in a storm, which forces him to seek refuge in a library. He then finds himself trapped inside the library, where he must battle his way through literary classics come to life if he is to find his way home. The Pagemaster bombed at the box office. It made $13.7 million on a $34 million budget. On Rotten Tomatoes the film has an approval rating of 21% based on 19 reviews and an average rating of 4.39/10. Audiences surveyed by CinemaScore gave the film a grade A− on scale of A to F.

The Transformers: The Movie is a 1986 animated science fiction action film based on the Transformers television series. It was released in North America on August 8, 1986, and in the United Kingdom on December 12, 1986.[8] It was co-produced and directed by Nelson Shin, who also produced the television series. The screenplay was written by Ron Friedman, who created The Bionic Six a year later. The film features the voices of Eric Idle, Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Casey Kasem, Robert Stack, Lionel Stander, John Moschitta Jr., Peter Cullen, and Frank Welker, and saw the final film roles for Orson Welles who died before the film's release and Scatman Crothers who died after the release of the film.[9] The soundtrack comprises electronic music composed by Vince DiCola and songs from rock and heavy metal acts including Stan Bush and "Weird Al" Yankovic. The story is set in 2005, 20 years after the TV series' second season.[10] After a Decepticon assault devastates Autobot City, Optimus Prime wins a deadly one-on-one duel with Megatron, but ultimately sustains fatal injuries in the encounter. With Megatron gravely injured, the Decepticons are forced to retreat, saving the Autobots. The Autobots are hunted across the galaxy by Unicron, a planet-sized Transformer intending to consume Cybertron and who transfigures Megatron to become the enslaved Galvatron. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/wvuncommonplace/message
