Philippians 1:12-18Rev. Matt Rice
In times of darkness where our faith might fail us, it's important to put our confidence in the Lord, Who is our light and salvation. David, the warrior king who was accustomed to darkness, exemplifies this to us in this Psalm, and in so doing, points us to Christ.
Pastor Ryan continues the sermon series through the Book of Psalms as he preaches a message titled "Confidence in the Lord" out of Psalms chapter 27 during this Wednesday Evening Service.
Dr. Wellum gavea us a wonderful overview of Revelation 4-5. In chapter four, he shows us God's heavenly throne, surrounded by glory and angels. Then, in chapter 5, he shows us our hopelessness apart from Christ — the Lion and the Lamb — and the glory of our salvation in Him. You can watch this message here.

Series: A Man After God's Heart; Scripture: 1 Samuel 17
God's faithfulness is the bedrock of the Christian hope and perseverance amidst trials and persecution. The means of God's faithfulness is prayer, preservation, and perseverance.
This week, Pastor Nathan Wakefield continues our sermon series, Pursuing the Heart of God. In 1 Samuel 17:1‑37, we see that it took a young boy to remind the people that their confidence was misplaced and needed to be returned to confidence in the Lord.Sermon notes are available on YouVersion Events.Video of the worship service is available for replay.
Psalm 27 is a deeply personal and powerful expression of trust in God in the midst of fear and uncertainty. Written by David, it combines bold confidence in God's protection with honest pleas for help and presence. It reflects the tension we all feel between faith and fear, and shows how anchoring our hearts in God's presence brings courage, stability, and peace. As we dwell, gaze, and inquire of God, we can't help but grow in confidence of God's sovereign plans taking shape.
Your confidence in the Lord will shape the way you face/stand against life's giants.
How do we cultivate confidence in the Lord? We cultivate that confidence by remembering and continuing to pursue His presence. Listen as Pastor Ryan Jackson shares from Psalm 27, a Psalm of David.

Pastor Nate brings the message, “Confidence in the LORD” - Part 2. Since Christians have the privilege of coming to God in prayer we should study the Psalms which include both helpful examples and rich theology concerning prayer. Last week's sermon from Psalm 20 taught us that we should trust in God because of who He is and seek His glory to be on display with our prayer requests. This message shows how God answered David's request and how focusing on the glory of God helps us with prayer.
Pastor Nate brings the message, “Confidence in the LORD.” Fully trusting in the LORD, David went into battle after battle and faced giants greater than him. His ultimate hope was not in military might but in “the name of the LORD our God” and God delivered David. Are we supposed to pray Psalm 20? And, if so, in what situations?

Join us for our 365-day reading journey through The Jesus Bible. Take this time to pause, be still, and focus on His Word and His presence.—Numbers 13:26-33They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh in the Desert of Paran. There they reported to them and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land. They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan.”Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can't attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”—Give towards what God is doing through Passion City Church: https://passioncitychurch.com/give-online—With Passion City Online, you can join us every Sunday live at 9:30a and 11:45a, and our gatherings are available on-demand starting at 7p!
