Niko and Jeremiah discussed the likelihood of the very unexpected transfer rumor that surfaced about a potential Danny Leyva move to Necaxa of Liga MX. They talk about what the fee range might be in and what that cap space to do for the Sounders 2026 roster, including what the Leyva news might mean for Obed Vargas' status. On the topic of other contracts the guys shared updates on Stefan Frei and Paul Rothrock seemingly being courted by Nashville SC. Frustrations about Craig Waibel's public communication style and the search for Tacoma Defiance's next head coach round out the show.Follow Niko Moreno on BlueSky and YouTube.Sponsor

Are we buying or selling the GM's rationale for another window with no major movement? Later on, we go over Armchair Analyst Matt Doyle's take on Seattle's window, then talk about the most controversial storyline of Matchday 30 that took place in Vancouver's matchup with St. Louis CITY SC.SPONSORSHaxan Ferments - Specializing in unique, small-batch fermented hot sauces and vinegars, Haxan Ferments is handcrafted in Georgetown and made with the best local ingredients from across the Pacific Northwest. Send us a textWhat happens when a professional sports executive takes off the GM hat and steps into his most important role as a father? Craig Waibel, General Manager of the Seattle Sounders FC, brings us behind the scenes of his parenting journey with refreshing honesty and hard-earned wisdom.Waibel, a former MLS player with four championship titles, shares a powerful framework for raising children that focuses on authenticity over achievement. "When it stops being fun, we're done," he explains about his daughter's volleyball journey, highlighting his commitment to nurturing joy ahead of competitive success. This philosophy might surprise some, coming from someone who's thrived at the highest levels of professional sports. The conversation reveals intimate moments of parental growth—from learning to step back when his teenage daughter needs space to process challenges, to allowing her to see his vulnerabilities. Waibel recounts transformative lessons from his own upbringing, including when his parents confronted his self-deprecating humor with the firm directive: "That's not how we treat ourselves." These formative experiences shaped his approach to both leadership and fatherhood.Particularly moving is Waibel's emphasis on integrity and communication. The open dialogue he's cultivated with his 15-year-old daughter didn't happen by accident but through years of intentional parenting. He describes the gratitude he feels when she shares her experiences and emotions freely—a connection many parents struggle to maintain during the teenage years.Whether you're raising future athletes, managing a team, or simply trying to become a better leader at home, Waibel's insights transcend sports. His perspective on removing fear to unlock potential applies equally to parenting and professional settings. How might your relationships transform if you approached them with more humility, vulnerability, and genuine curiosity? Please don't forget to leave us a review wherever you consume your podcasts! Please help us get more dads to listen weekly and become the ultimate leader of their homes!
Concacaf Champions Cup is off and running and the Seattle Sounders are off to a roaring start after Wednesday's 3-1 Leg 1 triumph in Guatemala. Can anyone stop the FC Dallas boys? Did we just witness Pedro de la Vega's breakout? We discuss that and more in our very first Dub Pod of 2025. Later on, we hit an Agenda Check that might ruffle some feathers among the anti-Craig Waibel community and hit a couple of other Sounders-related headlines, including rumors linking Obed Vargas to the Eredivisie.SPONSORSHaxan Ferments - Specializing in unique, small-batch fermented hot sauces and vinegars, Haxan Ferments is handcrafted in Georgetown and made with the best local ingredients from across the Pacific Northwest. The Sounders are back from preseason in Spain and ready to begin a gauntlet of a season. Co-hosts Brad Evans and Steve Zakuani begin by looking back at some preseason results, and commend Craig Waibel, Brian Schmetzer and staff for putting together a roster with depth all around the pitch. And it's a good thing given the congested upcoming schedule: scrimmage vs Louisville on the 12th, CONCACAF Champions Cup vs Antigua on February 19th (away) and February 26th (home)... not to mention MLS play kicks off on February 22nd when the Rave Green host Charlotte FC. Phew.Have questions for Brad and Steve? Leave a voicemail at 206-867-8545 for a chance to get your voice on the show!

Craig Waibel took over as the Seattle Sounders' third-ever general manager during the MLS era about three months ago. Although he had previously served as the team's sporting director and as such played a significant role in the current roster build, he has put his fingerprints on the team in ways that fans don't usually see. Most of Waibel's work has been done behind the scenes, attempting to rebuild an office culture that took a hit during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic that led to the Sounders going 100% remote. One of the biggest aspects of Waibel's directive has been encouraging more in-person interaction that isn't necessarily a meeting. He keeps his office at Starfire Sports Complex rather spartan, with just a stick-figure picture that he drew himself as one of the only decorations. He says that's because he doesn't want it to feel like "his" office, as much as a place where he happens to work and anyone else is welcome to use it. We sat down last week for an hourlong conversation, the first half of which can be found here. The other half of the interview is being made available only to paid-subscribers to our Substack and can be found at NosAudietis.Substack.com.
