On this episode, we break down the emotional rollercoaster that is the Seattle Sounders, from the season's best win straight into the worst loss, the end of the home undefeated streak, and a worrying stretch of form that was only partially salvaged by the Earthquakes win. We talk Moose's tooth, then dive into some obligatory striker discourse, including a discussion on whether Seattle's investment in Jordan Morris was justified, and what Craig Waibel's response might be if asked about urgency at the striker position. Then, we widen out to the Western Conference, debate which team is clearly superior to Seattle, and preview LAFC as the next opponent: what's the vibe going into that matchup at BMO Stadium and how should Seattle approach it?Follow Lobbing Scorchers: YouTube Instagram Bluesky TikTok Facebook Ari Liljenwall Noah Riffe Niko MorenoSPONSORS☕️ Lobbing Scorchers Kickoff is presented by QED Coffee a Seattle based roaster, coffee shop and coffee subscription service. In this special episode of Money Mondays, we hit pause on “how to make and invest money” and go all-in on the third pillar: how to give it away. Dan records live from Tampa in the middle of the 12th annual World's Largest Toy Drive—a 10-city, 17-day marathon of giving that started 12 years ago with just eight volunteers wrapping toys on the floor. You'll hear how Trina's Kids Foundation grew from a small local effort into stadium-level events at places like BMO Stadium, Allegiant/Raiders Stadium, American Dream Mall, and the Miami Heat Arena, powered by semi-trucks of toys, strategic partners, and a relentless focus on efficiency and impact. Dan breaks down the real numbers behind the toy drive, how he negotiates with suppliers to stretch every dollar, and why he's obsessed with proving to major brands and billionaires that philanthropy can be run like a high-performance business. But this episode isn't just a highlight reel—it's a playbook. Dan walks you through exactly how you can:Host your own toy drive, food drive, or local fundraiser in your cityUse your business ecosystem—vendors, clients, employees, partners—to fuel charity workEliminate friction in donations (from PayPal and wire to Bitcoin)Turn volunteering into a core part of your family or company cultureUse social media the right way so your posts about giving create a massive butterfly effect instead of looking like a humblebrag You'll also hear the origin stories of campaigns like the $100 Tipping Club and “Two Years Too Long” clothing drive, and how simple ideas—shared publicly—have inspired thousands of people around the world to copy and scale them. If you've ever thought, “I want to do more, but I don't know where to start,” this episode will give you the mindset, the mechanics, and the motivation to launch something of your own—whether you have money to donate or just time, energy, and a phone.

Hello Colorado Rapids fans. We hope you all had a good 4th of July. On this Sunday episode of Holding The High Line, we analyze that 4thFest loss to Sporting Kansas City and preview a difficult double game week. First the guys banter about the Gold Cup Final. Was it mission accomplished for the USMNT even with the performance and loss to Mexico? Has this altered expectations for us going into the World Cup next summer? What does this mean for the national team hopefuls on the Rapids? How should Rapids fans feel about RSL star Diego Luna playing well during the tournament? We discuss. Then we recap the loss to SKC? It was a good performance overall but in the context of having three really bad mistakes and not executing in small moments. Be prepared to learn what we thought on Conor Ronan's performance. What was up with Djordje Mihailović and Cole Bassett? Also what was up with 17,576 being a sellout at DSGP, the P-I-D-S chant, and the DIA substitution jingle? We also look big picture at whether this team can or will make the playoffs? Chris Armas continues to take the long view even though he's technically out of contract after this year. The Rapids actually have an easy schedule the rest of the way, even though July is tough. Red talks about what it means. Then we look ahead to LAFC and Vancouver. Colorado has a bad record at BMO Stadium, 0-8 all time, outscored 23-2. Rabbi thinks this might be the chance to catch LAFC while they're down. Club World Cup fatigue, Olivier Giroud exit and all. Oh, and we'll see what happens as this is the first game since the inappropriate language incident between Sergi Palencia and Chido Awaziem. Great. Similarly, Whitecaps are a good team but might be leggy due to players being at the Concacaf Gold Cup. They've also had two really bad losses, including a 3-0 loss to LA Galaxy. Yikes. Can the Rapids get a result against two teams who will have more rest than them? We make predictions. Also Mark would like to formally apologize to Wheat Ridge and Glendale.
LAFC heads home after their run in the Club World Cup, taking on second-place Vancouver at the friendly confines of BMO Stadium. Filly and Scarf give you their players to watch, keys to the match, and score prediction as LAFC hits the halfway mark of the season and celebrates Pride Night!
In the fall of 2026, Harvard-Westlake will open River Park (www.hwriverpark.com), a new campus dedicated to athletics, wellness, community partnership, and environmental sustainability. What you may not know, however, is that River Park was designed by a graduate, Steve Chung '89, the Global Practice Area Leader for Sports at Gensler. In this episode, Steve describes growing up in Van Nuys as a Bay Area transplant and finding community through following LA sports, a passion he leveraged into a long and meaningful career designing large-scale sports venues. These include BMO Stadium in LA, Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, and the new LA Rams Village at Warner Center. Lastly, Steve discusses River Park, for which he feels unique pride as a graduate of Harvard School, which Steve calls the most formative educational experience of his life. Steve references Harvard School teachers Lee Carlson '50 and Carl Wilson as profound influences on his life and career in architecture.

It's Episode 363, and LAFC has just won the most important match in club history! LAFC slays LIGA MX giant Club America, 2-1, after 120'!The atmosphere was unlike any other in the history of BMO Stadium, as Club America brought incredible support and a high-powered roster into Los Angeles for the winner-take-all showdown. After a tense, scoreless first half, Las Aquilas would get on the board first, with a little help from VAR. A soft penalty was awarded, which, of all people, Brian Rodriguez buries to put the visitors on top. Just before the 90', a perfect corner from Denis Bouanga finds the well-placed head of Igor Jesus, and we are level! What a time for Igor to score his first goal, and we are headed to Extra Time. In the second 15' half, Denis Bouanga pays off wonderful buildup from Olivier Giroud and Frankie Amaya, as his shot deflects off a defender's leg and in for the winner! LAFC is headed to the Club World Cup!Also on this episode, we take a peek at our opponents, Chelsea, Flamengo, and ES Tunis. Scarf loses his voice, Filly gets it right, Maxime Chanot is amazing without playing a minute, and apologies all around to Olivier Giroud!
