Happy Hump Day rockaholics! Don't miss this great interview with The Groz!
Bob and Lefko hear what the other Seattle Sports hosts had to say about whether a Super Bowl LX win would make this the best team in Seahawks franchise history, the strengths of this Patriots team, what the Seahawks defense showed us in the NFC Championship in The Best of the Rest, and they bring you some of the biggest stories around the NFL, including what new Bills head coach Joe Brady said about Keon Coleman, and they wrap up the week by reading your mean texts!
Dave Wyman joins Wolf and Luke to discuss how much it would hurt to lose Klint Kubiak, the impact Kubiak has had on the Seattle Seahawks offense, and what Kubiak could be like as a head coach.
Wolf and Luke talk to Seattle Seahawks broadcaster and Seattle Sports 710 host Dave Wyman and how a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade to the western conference could affect the Phoenix Suns.
- We are only 10 sleeps away from the Super Bowl and we have to give credit to Klint Kubiak, Sam Darnold AND the o line. :30- MIKE SANDO (The Athletic) Ok Mike, give us the lowdown on what's going on with this hall of fame voting and process. Will it get fixed? :45- We wrap up the show with one last thing! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Happy Thursday! Only 10 more sleeps til Super Bowl!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We are just 10 sleeps away from the Super Bowl and we can't underestimate this Patriots team. They've got a solid defense and the runner-up MVP and we haven't seen them without weather being a factor in a few weeks, not to mention they went up against 2 of the top 3 defenses in the league in the last two games and they found a way to win. Now, with the weather they've dealt with in the playoffs, we don't know that they're defense is as good as it's looked, but we do know that their offense is better than they've looked. Mike MacDonald will have his team ready to go and there's no way they're reading all their hype, but a lot of National and some local media think this thing is a lock for the Hawks. :30- It's time to hand out some more Scarlett D's and one of them hits close to home. :45- No, Ryan Leaf does not have a hall of fame vote… although a lot of people thought he did yesterday! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
12th Man Roundtable with HUGH MILLEN and GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) The Seahawks are NFC Champions and headed to the Super Bowl… discuss amongst yourselves! :30- We are back with the Roundtable and the national media is finally finding out about Nick Emmanwori. :45- We wrap up the roundtable with Hugh and gregg Is there any leftover issues from the Riq Woolen taunting issue? How well is Riq playing right now? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Headlines and DAN LARSON (NDSU OC & Former O Line Coach) The Seahawks offensive line has improved greatly and two big factors in that improvement are NDSU alums Grey Zabel and Jalen Sundell, so we turned to their college coach to get some insight into these two key players. Coach gives us some insight into how Sundell and Zabel got here and the versatility of these two players. Have Coach and his fellow Bison become Seahawks fans? When did he know that Grey had what it took to become an NFL lineman? Has he talked to either of them since they clinched a spot in the Super Bowl? How mind blowing is it for Coach to think about watching two of his guys playing side-by-side in the Super Bowl? :30- A Series of Unfortunate Super Bowl Conversations… There's one big difference between this year's Seahawks team and the teams that went to back-to-back Super Bowls just over a decade ago… This team is VERY likeable, even by non-Seahawks fans, those teams? Not so much. :45- Bill Belichick being left out of the hall of fame this year still has a lot of people talking. Is it voter bias or a problem with the process? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Headlines and 12th man news with GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) Is the NFL Hall of Fame process broken? How much time will be spent on the 1-yard line over the next week and a half? We are a week and a half out- how are the preparations going? Will the Seahawks make a push to keep Kubiak? :30- Sam Darnold was criticized heavily by the media… not just national, local too, so we're handing out Scarlett D's! That's right people, you were wrong and now you're wearing the D!! :45- It's time to get Reckless at Breakfast! It's time again to tackle the issues with the Hall of Fame process, because this isn't working. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We are only 12 sleeps from the Super Bowl and the Seahawks are all anyone can talk about!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Was Bill Belichick's snub from the NFL Hall of Fame a form of punishment for Spygate and Deflategate or possibly for the way he treated the media over the years? Was something this egregious needed in order to make adjustments to the Hall of Fame process? :30- A Series of Unfortunate Super Bowl Topics… The Seahawks will face the Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch of their last appearance 11 years ago, so yes… we have to talk about THAT. Ugh. :45- We had a conversation yesterday about Riq Woolen and his taunting penalty in the NFC Championship and some listeners texted in and felt he should be benched for the Super Bowl? Benched? Does that seem like a bit much? Do we feel confident that Woolen has learned his lesson this time? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
MATT HASSELBECK makes his regular Wednesday postseason visit and he's been friend-zoned! Matt was here for the NFC Championship- so what was the experience like? What was his opinion of Sam Darnold when the Seahawks got him and what is his opinion now? Seahawks vs Patriots means something a little more this year… How does Matt feel about the Belichick HoF snub? :30- The Cher-Coacherie board is getting bare as the Buffalo Bills hired Joe Brady yesterday and the Cleveland Browns just hired Todd Monken. Why Monken, why now? The Bills promote from within after getting rid of Sean McDermott… they hire the guy who was learning from… McDermott… There are only 2 head coaching openings remaining, is Kubiak to the Raiders a done deal? :45- It's Wednesday and that means we start looking ahead to the next Seahawks opponent. We begin our preview of the Patriots, even though we still have 11 sleeps to go. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Mr Jokey boy himself, DUSTIN NICKERSON joins the show! It's been quite a ride for Seattle sports fans between the Mariners and Seahawks, so it's always nice to check in with our favorite comedian fan and friend and see how he felt watching that NFC Championship in person and what he'll be doing leading up to the Super Bowl. :30- AL KINISKY (Kraken Audio Network color analyst) Wasn't it just a week ago that we were talking about needing a line that was automatic? What happens with a hat trick after the hats have already been thrown? How can the Olympic break benefit the Kraken? Do we expect the Kraken to make any moves ahead of the trade deadline? :45- We close out the Wednesday show with one last thing!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We had a great Wednesday show and we grabbed the best moments for ya! Gregg Bell, Matt Hasselbeck, Dustin Nickerson and Al Kinisky joined us and we have a lot of Seahawks discussion, plus a look at the broken HoF voting.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Brady is back on a Monday night with more parallels between the Seahawks and the Mariners, and he's calling on Seattle sports fans to get greedy in the wake of the Seahawks success. Also, he's joined by Maury Brown (@BizballMaury) of Forbes for a talk on the baseball labor issues at hand and what's coming in 2027. And what's the M's plan for Cooper Criswell?
Turns out going to the Super Bowl is really fun! We have 12 days to go and the absurd Sam Darnold narrative just continues and for what reason? Darnold threw 3 touchdowns with no turnovers. He's proven he can win playoff games and yet, it doesn't seem to be enough for some people to move on from the Sam Darnold they saw in a Jets uniform…6 years ago! :30- It's time for the Cher-Coacherie Board and we have news! - The Steelers went in the opposite direction of their norm in hiring an offensive-minded Mike MacCarthy, who is apparently a lifelong Steelers fan. - The Bills still don't have a coach after firing Sean McDermott, are they waiting for Klint Kubiak? - And will the Seahawks let him go? :45- The nation is learning about Nick Emmanwori and finally catching up to what we already know here in town. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
GENE STERATORE (CBS Rules Analyst) - Did the officials have more of a responsibility to calm Riq Woolen in a moment that big? - Can we all agree that there should have been a PI called on Shaheed? - What about that Stidham (Stickem) backwards pass? :30- EVERETT FITZHUGH (Kraken Audio Network PxP) The inconsistencies continue, but the Kraken seem to be playing better over the last few games. Can they keep it going and how will the Olympic Break affect things? Why would they even consider trading Shane Wright? :45- We Did not Care! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Ok, we need to have this conversation and then we're moving on... we think. :30- the Ol Judge is here! Out of all the Seahawks, we are most happy for… Have we seen Matt Stafford play his last game? If something happens in the KJR house, Softy will be the one that gets arrested & Dick Fain will be the one to call the cops… :45- We wrap up the Tuesday show with one last thing!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
THE SEAHAWKS ARE GOING TO THE EFFING SUPER BOWL!!!!!! The Seahawks beat the Rams behind a near-perfect game from Sam Darnold as he proves he can win in the playoffs and he doesn't have a Rams problem. :30- It's our final Cold Turkey Sandwich as we discuss the Seahawks win over the Rams and the Patriots win over the Broncos in blizzard-like conditions. :45- Coach Bucky is here! - Does Mike MacDonald deserve a little criticism? - Should McVay have challenged the Cooper Kupp first down? - Should Matt Stafford retire after that performance yesterday? Headlines and 12th Man News with GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) How does Gregg's world change in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl? How big of a role is Leslie Frazier playing in Seahawks' preparations? How concerned should we be about Riq Woolen's antics? Does he get how bad that COULD have been? Where does Jarran Reed rank on Gregg's list? :30- A Series of Unfortunate Super Bowl topics…. This week we will discuss some uncomfortable topics surrounding the Super Bowl and after that, we're done! Is Bucky glad the Broncos didn't' make it to the Super Bowl so he didn't have to relive 43-8 for the next two weeks? :45- It's official, the Pro Bowl has reached an all-time low. Can Jarrett Stidham get the job done for Denver? :30- MIKE HOLMGREN joins the show with some advice for the show and his thoughts on this Seahawks/Rams matchup. How is Mike Macdonald preparing this team because it's not just another game. How hard is it to deal with the pressure and which team has more of it? It's an NFC (AFC) Championship Friday! How confident are we feeling heading into this third matchup with the Rams and why? It starts with the defense and how well this Seahawks team has been playing, but this game isn't going to be easy by any means! :30- We're getting the Cher-Coacherie Board early this morning! The Ravens have hired Jesse Minter as their new head coach and Chuck predicted this one a few weeks ago in Reckless at Breakfast. With Minter in at Baltimore, where will Klint Kubiak end up or will he stay with the Hawks for at least one more year? Would Buffalo roll the dice on a first-year head coach? :45- No Cliché Keys to Victory! We give our keys to a Seahawks win over the Rams in the NFC Championship, no cliches allowed! Bob and Dave hear what the other Seattle Sports hosts had to say about John Schneider’s best decisions, how Sam Darnold’s injury will affect this weekend’s NFC Championship game against the Rams, and the impact Zach Charbonnet’s injury will have on the Seahawks offense in The Best of the Rest, they look back on how successful Puka Nacua has been in the last two games against the Seahawks, and they wrap up the show by finding out what we learned today!
We are just three sleeps away from the NFC Championship and we are all about the Seahawks! These two teams are so evenly matched and we turn to our experts Hugh Millen, Gregg Bell and Mike Sando for their insight into this tight matchup.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Mike MacDonald spoke to the media yesterday and gave his thoughts on turnover differential, Puka Nacua and the health of his quarterback. Sam isn't taking all the reps in practice and we are ok with that. Puka is a force, can the Seahawks defense stop him from getting 200+ yards again? Seattle has a positive turnover differential in every game except against the Rams, is MacDonald concerned about that? :30- MIKE SANDO (The Athletic) What's going to determine this outcome on Sunday? Ken Walker is the guy now that Charbonnet is out- can he handle the workload? Does Mike give Jarrett Stidham a chance to pull off the win over the Patriots? Does Sando have any belief in the Patriots? What's going on in Buffalo? :45- We close out the show with one last thing! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We are THREE sleeps away from NFC Championship! These two teams are so evenly matched that only 1 yard separates them in their two matchups this season. The number 1 offense going against the #1 defense, who has the advantage and how confident are we that Mike MacDonald's defense can stymie the Rams? The Seahawks offense has been nothing but consistent against the Rams, putting up 414 and 415 yards in each of the two matchups, with turnovers being the issue in that first game and they still had a chance to win it. :30- ICYMI: Matt Haselbeck joins us on Wednesday mornings and we talked to him about Sam Darnold's injury, something he dealt with as well. Did Darnold favor the injury? Would there be any issues this week? Does Darnold just need to keep letting it rip? Stafford is having his best year yet… :45- The AFC Championship is Sunday and Denver will go up against the Patriots without Bo Nix. Can backup QB Jarrett Stidham do enough for the Broncos to get the win? Maybe, with that defense. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Headlines and the latest on Sam Darnold. Sam spoke about his injury to the media yesterday and talked about getting hit. Remember the drama of the last game between the Rams and Seahawks? We go through Chuck's notes to re-live the highs and lows of that comeback win! :30- We're bringing out the Cher-Coacherie Board! Terry Pegula and his wife own the Bills and it's very clear now (after his press conference yesterday), that his wife is the brains of the operation… :45- There's one player for the Rams who is pretty important to the team and might not be available. Byron Young is trending towards playing, but Sean McVay isn't sure how healthy he will be and he leads the team in sacks and is 9th in the NFL in pressures. The Rams have sacked Sam Darnold 13 times in the last two games, so how beneficial would it be to the Seahawks offense if he doesn't play or is limited? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
12th man roundtable with HUGH MILLEN and GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) We start with an injury update- Sam Darnold and Charles Cross, what's the latest? Everyone is talking about it- does Sam Darnold have a Rams issue? It's Kenneth Wlker's time… Special teams has been a boost for the Seahawks with the addition of Rashid Shaheed. :30 We are back with more of the roundtable and it's all about the Seahawks defense against the Rams offense. Who has the advantage? :45- We wrap up the NFC Playoff Edition of the 12th Man Roundtable with Gregg's key to the game, Bucky's prediction and one last thing from Hugh. URSULA'S TOP STORIES: Seattle schools ICE scare // WA Democrats may keep our cash from the feds // A golden era of Seattle sports? // Is happy hour dying?
Yeah, we probably like our quarterback more than other people around the country, but the narrative circulating in the national ranks yesterday was just plain lazy- no, Sam is not a liability for the Seahawks in the playoffs. 14 interceptions and 6 lost fumbles- that's all anyone focuses on, not the fact that his team is winning and Sam is doing his part to help them get there. He was only 20 years old when he came into the league and he went to a crappy team, so it's highly probably that he wasn't getting what he needed to grow as an NFL QB in NY and Carolina. :30- Bad news anti-analytics people: if you want King Felix to get into the Hall of Fame, you're going to have to support the analytics, because that's how he will get there. Yesterday was very promising for Felix Hernandez as he saw the biggest jump in vote percentage from year 1 on the ballot to year 2 since 1967 going from 20.6% last year to 46.1% this year. :45- Walker's workload has been kept fairly low all season long as he split carries with Zach Charbonnet, but now, that's not an option with Charbs out. How many carries should Walker get on Sunday? A lot more! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
MATT HASSELBECK makes his Wednesday visit and we start with that win over the Niners last Saturday. It all started with the kickoff, but what did Matt think about the win from start to finish. Were Darnold & the coaching staff doing anything different last week to protect him and his injury and what should we expect this week? Ok, we have to talk about Matt Stafford and the season he is having- are we worried about facing him again? What does the Seahawks defense need to do to stop him on Sunday? The Broncos are in a tough spot, but Matt doesn't think the QB will be the issue in the AFC Championship. How is Matt feeling about the Seahawks chances on Sunday? :30- We're bring out the Cher-Coacherie Board! - No, we don't think Klint Kubiak's head coaching potential is a distraction for this team, but will Kubiak land in Buffalo or Baltimore when the season comes to an end? - Eric Bienamy is headed back to Kansas City and Mike McDaniel is headed to the Chargers as OC… now that's going to be a room of weird. :45- Yes, there's Stafford, there's Williams, but the one we really have to worry about slowing down is Puka Nacua. Can the Seahawks defense contain him this time? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Remember when the Seahawks had two first-round picks and we talked about the idea of them moving up to take Stroud or Young… boy are we glad they didn't! What do the National guys need to see from Sam Darnold to recognize he is not a liability at quarterback? Yes, at one point he looked like a bust, but he's put together 2 back-to-back 14-win seasons, what more do you need? He is not a liability for this Seahawks team, he is a strength and he's playing his role in this team's success. :30- AL KINISKY (Kraken Audio Network color analyst) The Kraken need a win! From winning nonstop and climbing up the standings to this current skid, what is causing the inconsistencies? :45- We wrap up the humpday show with one last thing!
